This is just my opinion since a majority of the community including myself rather despise this god awful map. I think the devs want to keep it since they worked so kitten it but I have a win/win! We take it out of pvp all together and change it to a mingame where everyone who goes into it gets an auto attack, a knockback, a pull, a stability, and a shrink. It’s just an idea though so thats all i got also the mid point would have to be revamped

so everyone is just made an engineer?

power is usually the way to go for dung etc, anyway i use a hybrid build (ramp gear celestial trinks) and it’s awesome for fractals

I kinda thought this might be the case. Hybrid with a tad more invested into power. With the amount of might stacking that occurs I figure that would boost my conditions enough that they were viable enough to throw round as needed, but my core damage is power. Shame A-net gave necromancer no cleave damage weapons.

You have misconstrued. I think it would be impossible to do fractals with out any AR. I have sufficient AR for up to lvl 35, but beyond that I can’t be bothered crafting more ascended just so I can slot more AR. I have seen ppl successfully play lvl 35 with only 15AR, but I myself wouldn’t recommend it. I keep whatever tier i am playing+5:
lvl 20+=25 AR
lvl30+=35AR etc etc

Nearing my completion of a necromancer. One last question remains for end game application. Which serves the better future Power/hybrid/conditions?

I do play dungeons. I do play fractals lvl 25-35 (can’t be bother with AR after this point.) I do make strong investments in my alts with extoic armor/weapons and ascended trinkets.

This will be my 6th lvl 80 gear out, so I am experienced with dungeon evades, what is needed where for runs and evades etc..

Juast looking for feedback from more exp necromancers about what they found work best over the longer term at end game.

(No advice needed for PvP. I rarely WvW and keep it mostly in spvp, so all traits etc and free anyway.)

In range of target;
So this is any potential target? Or the person targeting them? What if three people are targeting them?

What is a ranger is at 1200 units, but their pet is at 300 units?..the pet is an extension of the ranger.

What about turrets/pets/clones/minions? if they are within the area do they count as ‘target’? even their owner maybe further away?

So a warrior ran away from you..an ele can do the same, so can a thief. A clever necro can lure you away and teleport back. A lot of professions can disengage. This is nothing new. If a opponent choices to high tail and run, you get the node, that is your reward. If you were fighting them off node and are just upset you didn’t get your bloodlust fix, then chances are you’re not being as useful to your team as what you could be. Nodes win matches..not kills. Keeps win WvW..not dragging rights 1 vs 1 duels.

Confirms what I have always said. When we get told nothing is written in stone, it is written in stone. There is no changing it. Even if honest feedback and good points are presented, all we get is silence. The notion of ‘play as you want’ is better stated as, ‘Play as we want you to.’

Especially after the song and dance about ‘looking for a really good active for healing signet.’ Seems like the really good idea just do nothing and no doubt not answer or retort any conjecture about it after the fact.

My login times are near non existent these days..just too much wrong, Not being handled properly and all delivered in a painfully slow fashion. Games are by design meant to be fun..gw2 has just lost the fun factor to me these days.

Players have been asking for this for over a year. Your best bet is to obtain it in PvP. Currently the idea for spvp is to move towards your armour locker being universal eventually between PvE and PvP. Although this may not come to fruition, it would be a smart bet to obtain in PvP, store it in your locker and see what happens.

As a long time PvP player of many games. The ultimate reality is;

Pre-mades have a elitism issue. They tend to believe that because they are playing in a more organised way that they therefore are playing more skillfully and at a higher degree. However when technology that provides VoIP, team practice, everyone running synergied builds this also makes them more forgiving. At any time they all know what is going on and who would most benefit going to help who. Generally their playstyle is very unflexiable with people having to run certain builds and having to perform certain roles.

PuG’s;
Have the higher failure rate over pre-m’s, however PuG also can have the highest reward. To be able to figure out quickly what each of your team is running and coordinate who would be best where requires more knowledge, intuition and understanding of each match mechanic. PuG’s rely more on action/reaction thinking as opposed to pre-m’s.

There is no difference in skill, just difference of execution. One relies on being very purposeful with what you do and on specifics and the other relies on being more diverse/balanced and being aware of what is happening/about to happen.

in GW1 a respectabled placed 8vs 8 GvG match required no more or less skill than a team arena 4 vs all contenders getting to 25 consecutive wins team.

I stopped reading after you said Ranger were viable and necromancer weren’t. You live in some sort of sheltered world none of the rest of us live in. If you look at the top 3 profession everyone universally have said need help, it has been;

Ranger PvE+PvP
Elementalist PvP
Necromancer PvE

Your view is currently running counter to what the rest of the community feels. I am not sure where/how you play but only spirit ranger works best and even then all three of the spirits are broken in favour of the ranger(Ranger forums shows the healing/burning over proc’ing) which is allowing them to remain in a ok spot as home defender. Once that gets fixed they’re back to being mediocre at best. Also it is not warrior meta, it is a hammer meta. There is 9 hammer warriors to any other type of warrior. To simply call it warrior is not labeling it right.

You seem to think that descisions aren’t made in stone with A-net. They are made in stone. The only reason they ask is so they can figure out how to pitch what is already gonna happen. When it becomes apparent there is no sales pitch, they just say nothing at all. This is the documented history. What makes it worse is that this sounds harsh, but it is in fact just truthful. They don’t answer any of the big questions that matter and useful feedback doesn’t get implemented. This is going to be the biggest disaster with the Asia launch. Gamers are the same world wide. We all know how to recognise things that shouldn’t be in game. Instead of listening to this before trying to open in a country of over a billion people, things have just remained the same and no doubt whatever gamers are attracted to gw2 in China will recognise the exact same issues as what EU/NA have already beaten to death over the last year.

So, I guess that’s why we haven’t seen it yet; I, too, am waiting for the bi-(or so)yearly ‘State of the Game’ blog.

Ah ok, I missed that bit. Shame, we get so few updates on forthcoming news about the game as it is.

They have already done this last year. A lot of stuff on the list of things to expect didn’t happen. Put no faith in this statement of anything big to drop. Whatever is said will drop has already been historically proven to not be necessarily true. Unfortunately this is what happens when you talk to people who have memories that last over 6 months. Now new traits/skills got addded. No particle was turned down. Legendary precursor crafting was not introduced. These were all big things to drop that never did.

Warrior build for dungeons/fractal

in Warrior

The build is solid, but not recommended for PuG’s at high fractal levels. You’ll rely on others for your cleanses and blocks for things that can’t be easily avoided. The lava grubs immobilise on fire shaman alone would kill this build fast in a PuG where someone isn’t actively taking care of group cleanse in moments where everyone needs to be unhampered.

8.45 gold per 100 gems?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

This also highlights a deficiency of items in game that can only be purchased with gold. The ascended armor craze is over. You have no need for icy runestones unless you’re crafting a legendary. Armor is available via tokens etc. This leads to a situation where there is nothing to really ‘buy’ in the virtual world, so instead purchases are made in the interface between the virtual and real world market (The gem store.) In order to see both remain constant there needs to be purchases that are in game only via gold and promotional items are only available via gems.

The other down side is that just about all gold is earned dungeons/fractals. Dungeons need lower drop rates and better completion rewards, and PvE open world maps need higher drop rates. This would help make the living world actually living. You’d see people out in it, because this is the better source of income. Currently the open world is usally vacant and dead feeling because everyone is in a dungeon/fractal/champ train because this is where the rewards.

mesmers ruining pvp

in PvP

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

You have nailed it. Mesmers were a mistake to add currently how they are.
They work off the brass ring theory. Phantasm keep repeating their damage, clones if left can be used for shatters. If you purposefully destroy phantasms/clones they cause you damage. If you do destroy the phantasm/clones they get recast easily.

This ultimately means the mesmers source of damage is coming from mechanics that are not the mesmer themselves. If you wanna hurt target A you have to manage target B well. If you going to shut down target B it can damage you, but not target A. While removing target B, target A damages you. Once target A has created target B it then goes on to damage you and Target A now can play active defense whilst their passive attack does their damage for them. It was flawed thinking in my opinion.

Shake, wiggle and rock and roll it. I thought the same thing, but soon figured all of them can be captured with good positioning and timing. You don’t need to aggro the champ to get it. Take a break from it and approach it again later and you’ll probably see a position now that may not have been obvious before.

Mandatory pets are bad.

in Ranger

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

I have to agree. I rolled a ranger, and when I dropped my first trap, and foe never came near it because they were too busy chasing my pet, they lasted another 5 lvls before they were deleted. In gw1 I never used a pet..I found the compulsory pet in gw2 just annoyed me more than anything else.

The scope in ranger previously was good;
Interrupter
condition pressure
choice of short, medium,long range
Bunny thumpers
Trappers

It really feels to me that rangers took a large step backwards in gw2. They’re not even the best profession with bow..if the ranger isn’t the best given profession with bow, well that spoke volumes to me. It is why you see so many rangers in higher content using axe/warhorn.

I have bought one dungeon path before due to lack of people doing it.
The seller was friendly and patient. No problems.

After exiting the dungeon, I was still in the team and saw the last boss message reposted straight away and then I got kicked as I already had my reward and tokens.

After that I pretty much assumed all sellers are using some sort of exploit and avoid them.

This is one of the biggest issues to me personally. I can see they are selling. I can see they’re filling up. I have no idea whether they are legit, exploiters, scammers.

This could provide an opportunity for a-net to create a gold sink. Sorta like paypal. You pay into a proxy account that releases gold to the party host once the dungeon has been completed and everyone has exited.

Thieves/Warriors shutting down tPvP diversity

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

I know it is only your opinion, but I think you have greatly underestimated necromancer in PvP.

1) Ranger is in a solid place. It just really needs pets, the placement of many traits and a handful of its under loved skills to be reworked to finally be in a place where it can actually threaten now.

2) Ele was in a great place, then it got nerfed. Even A-net has said they may have over done it. Change nothing on them, just return some of what they had.

These are 2 examples of where it is not the warrior or the thieve’s fault. Ohters have been diminished, or made awkward to play and as a result the less awkward professions now have the upper hand. However before all the ranger pet, shortbow nerfs and the destruction of ele, both warrior/thief didn’t feel overly strong against them. In fact for the longest time of all professions warrior was considered the sickly child. Nerfing warrior/thief isn’t the fix. The problem was others got nerfed too hard and warrior buffed too much. However warrior has been brought down multiple scales over the last updates, however they still feel strong purely at this point because of how heavily others were nerfed right before they received their first buffs. It only highlights how nevere some professions got nerfed and how some got overly buffed.

The two points in all of this that engineer defenders are not addressing;
1) The large amount of passive proc’s from traits that can be aligned with runes and sigils to create a near endless amount of continuous proc’s that keep recasting, repeating or overlaying each other.
2) The engineer can be played only focusing on environment. It doesn’t particularly matter what is thrown at you, as long as you stay within range of any kits and bombs. You will eventually win out. It is only if your opponent puts a priority on your kits and avoiding bombs do they then begin to threaten your position. This what is called a brass ring. The opponent needs to counter the symptoms before it can do anything about the cause. It has divide the target from what needs attention. To do this successfully, and manage all profession mechanics that are not physically part of the profession is not harming to the engineer because of the lower cooldowns, above stated survival traits etc before it can recast all turrets/bombs to replace the ones just destroyed. This is the core frustration argument about mesmers. If you leave the clones they can be used against you. If you destroy the clones they can damage you. If you effectively handle the clones they are recast near instantly..all of this you must contend with whilst still also trying to hit the memser themselves. Gw1 had a better solution with this in rangers/ritualists/dervish. If you remove the pet/spirits/enchants, they are not easily replaced and diminish your overall effectiveness until such time you can replace them. This meant time invested in leaving the target to destroy secondary mechanics related to them paid dividends if you could do it effectively without them using this time to kite away from, or simply run and regain energy.

These brass rings should be discussed in overall balance. If we use an analogy of warrior banners that can immobilise and burn you as well as heal the warrior, how balanced should it be that I have to destroy the banners, and if i do I could take damage and then face the warrior who now has pin down on recharge and earth shaker ready to go from the adrenaline they gained attacking you whilst you dealt the turrets?..So know I face more immobilise, more conditions and CC, and if we draw this process out, soon I they will be dropping yet another banner, which creates another brass ring that has to be dealt with before we can resume focusing on the warrior, who now has pin down and earth shaker ready again..rinse-repeat..

@proxy damage. If i don’t know what I am doing, why I am still winning 2 vs 1 roaming. I guess it must be the gods smiling on me. Play how you want, but drop the ego on thinking you know better on someone else’s play style. The proof is always in the pudding. 16 stacks of confusion doing 5k+ damage per skill use, torment, poison, 10+ stacks of bleeds and fire aura can’t be wrong. Those numbers are far from useless. The 20% on hit from perplexity, 10 seconds confusion on interrupt on 8 second cooldown+ 3 stack confusion on interrupt with no cool down just isn’t wrong. It maybe not your playstyle, just the same as I think your build is pedestrian. The 1 second immobile from leg spec doesn’t even stack with flurry. It has already expired by the time flurry cast is achieved. therefore it is a wasted 10 points that does not serve any greater purpose. With healing signet currently what it is and 20 points in toughness/healing for cleansing, 3 seconds of dogged march is also defunct. Deflect missiles has it purposes, or shield recharge. 3 seconds regen is the equiv of every tenth drip from the tap, you’ll get an extra drip. If 410 (500 including adrenal health)every second is not enough regen for you, then maybe it is fair to say, you need a very forgiving build in order to survive. This is a very fair comment to make. The more regen you trait makes your build more forgiving and tolerant of ignorant or unskillful dodges. However being i don’t know anything..who am I to say.

Naturally the proof is in the pudding. I don’t currently have the hard drive space for frapping out a vid, so the OP can search “warrior perlexity build” or “highly defensive sword/longbow warrior condi” each has it strengths. One is very forgiving, the other has a lot of free give away’s in terms of what happens simply by you being hit.

PS warrior bow attacks do not cause conditions. Unless you are in a fire field, then you have 20% projectile chance. However, you knowing what is best obviously know this. I am sure you’ll correct your post, as it was misleading to simply frame ‘conditions on auto attack are just too handy. ’ When you meant to say, ’20% chance to have 1 second conditions on auto attack when standing in a fire field that optimally you didn’t drop until it was phase 3 adrenaline.’ I almost could be forgiven with a statement like that that maybe the person making it didn’t know anything about the game. But obviously you do. You seem to know best.

I still have faith in them. This is the same team that is currently running gw1. After 8 years if it still even has 5% of its population, you can consider it a success. I don’t like the current Pvp, but that is purely personal. I do hope that eureka moment comes for them though. I wouldn’t like to see guild wars 2 have a early death. I really think that some foundation decisions need to be change. It was brave to try something an entirely new way. It was bold to wanna change the trinity, but in the end I don;t think anyone here could have realised where entirely this road was gonna lead in the end. Bring back Monks in the form of guardians. The biggest turn off to players about monk was that you never felt like you were part of the action. You simply played the UI and red bar game. This basicvally meant the healer role should have been radically designed, rather than removed. Remove node captures. It only splits the team up and makes people wanna go for individual results over team results. The team result is what people should be aiming for, even if they don’t stomp a single person. The hotjoin format being the most easily accessed starter Pvp only encourages people in this behaviour. Then they get to soloQ where almost nobody communcates at all, and finds it hard to communicate without taking thier hands off hotkeys and the screen. Then they get Tpvp and have to actively work out who does what, who goes where, what updated vent we’re all running, who will play this profession and what ‘must have’ weapon they have to use…It all seems like a rough road, no smooth transitions. If they work on these things, it would certainly help. Everybody understand kill count. They understand death match. They understand healer. they understand DPS..they don’t undertsand;
-you hold home. Unless nobody is there, then you shadow center, unless chieftain is up..then get that. You hold center. CC everything, you over ther, you support, unless home gets rammed..then you go back to home and other guy, you go push their home. If they double back to defend home, then you take off and either go help center, or bring orange juice to guy on home, unless svanir is up, then try to steal him. Now if i wink one eye and run my fingers on the brim of my hat, that means steal third, unless far left field has a strong arm, then try to upset pitcher. Everyone be yourself, unless you can be a pirate..then be a pirate..first to 500 wins. Understand? By trying to make it simple it just didn’t pan out ideally. That is why craft’s people always say, “Simple is the hardest to achieve. It will always show it’s flaws if you don’t get it right.”

Push, pull, throw, knockback, knockdown, defiant, unstoppable. In Sandbox content there is no way to communicate any of this easily. While person is channeling a PbAoE and another setting up a spike, along comes someone who then knocks them all the way back and leaves everyone flat footed. How does one avoid this highly annoying practice of pulling, throwing, knocking back at convenient times?..stack in a corner and everyone can do exactly what they wanna do without interrupting everyone else unintentionally, whilst sharing all boon and prots applied by everyone. You want A-net to change player behaviour when they actually need to change every single foe mechanic from the ground up. It is fair to assume this will take quite a bit of work.
It is not selfish for people to play as they want to, it is only selfish to expect everyone to play as you want them to.

Perplexity.
20-15-20-0-15-Distracting strikes is essential.

You can run sword/shield-longbow or sword/shield-mace/mace

The interrupt confusion cooldown on perplexity doesn’t exist on distracting strikes. Equip stomp as a utility stun break.

For large groups it will lose relevancy. As a roamer I use this and very effectively handle 2 vs 1 situations. The confusion just eventually adds up. With sigils of doom and torment and corruption the additional conditions just prove too much. When i used it in dungeons and fractals it also proved far better than I thought it would be, but still took a distant second to crit dmg great sword.

“…I understand the need for a tax…”

Tax/taxation )Noun/subjective verb. Pecuniary burden laid upon individuals, land and business owners to support government.

Taxation is used for the purposes of infrastructure, war, schooling, health etc etc portofolio’s that best befit the needs of the country, region and its people.

As opposed to levy, which is optional to pay depending on whether you use the service provided. EG pay the bridge toll and drive over, or drive around the bridge and not pay the toll.

As Most items are account or soulbound this makes them impossible to sell via any other means. The Trading post is an enforced method of buying and sell over 99% of all items. This firmly makes it a tax, as it is enforced. Therefore there should be benefit in this to the country, region and people that is best befitting their needs at the time. At such time there is no published agenda as to what this tax is used on.

I learned 3 things here.
1) rangers aren’t viable according to forums. So this entire clip is photoshopped.
2) Celestial gear can be useful
3) I am a warrior player. Even watching hammer warrior in someone else’s video upsets.

Really nice put together showcase of ranger.

PvP warriors lol....

I hit rank 4 necro with full whirling axe for 11.2k dmg. I followed through with evis for another 7.4k. I swapped to sword and with leg specialist immobilised them and got final thrust in for 5k. In 8 seconds I did 11+7+5=23,000+ dmg. That only removed their death shroud.

Dude please..any profession that has a mechanic that allows a rank 4 to absord 23K dmg from a rank 40 ..and you wanna come here and say warrior is OP. You can have any warrior build you like in exchange for the 23,000 HP buffer.

Ranger Balance [Post CDI]

Erm, I’m still pretty sure that Spirit Ranger is one of the best, if not the best home point bunker in the game. The class certainly needs work but Ranger certainly has a role in team comps as a home defender.

To quote myself from the team composition section: “More prevalent in PvE/Dungeons and WvW than PvP…”

But yes, rangers have always had a working meta build in the PvP environment. Unfortunately, that doesn’t imply build diversity and it doesn’t translate to the rest of the games content, which are two issues that basically every class in the game (except maybe Guardians and Warriors, and even they don’t have the most perfect examples of diversity) faces in some way, shape, or form.

Rangers have always had a working meta build. It is a shame the working build is complete and total AI spirits, where the burning that should last 2.7 seconds lasts 4 and the heals from the spirits have been above and excessive beyond what they were intended. In other words their meta build is viable because all of it’s AI is currently broken in favor of the ranger. This is perhaps the saddest fact. To be viable it needs a build that relies on AI that is broken..yup, that truly is saddest part. Gone are the days rangers didn’t even need pets. Gone are the touch rangers. Gone are the bunny thumpers. Gone are the condition pressure. Gone are the short range ranger interrupters. Gone are the bow preparations. It seems in order to break the trinity, the ranger carried most of that ‘broken’ for everyone else. Really sad to see how far they have fallen.

Stacking and Legendarys

Stacking is a perfectly balanced way to group enemies up. The enemies are grouped up, but so are the players.

The issue is with the Warrior class, rather than the stacking mechanic. Recently been playing my Ele a lot and stacking is a lot more unforgiving and tricky than it is on a Warrior.

In most dungeons, the Warrior can facetank most the attacks, even when in full Berserker and 30/25/0/0/15 and get a timed aegis on the larger, more punishing attacks.

Of the “usual” dungeonthat you find being trained by “Zerker” groups per day (which for those that do not know is AC 1/2/3, COF 1/2, SE 1/3, TA Up and maybe COE), only COE really requires a Warrior to do any dodging.

You don’t see CM, HOTW and Arah being farmed by these brainless groups because they actually require dodging by Warriors, which is pretty much all you ever find on the LFG if you’re looking for a “Zerker”. It’s not because they are the best damage, because they aren’t (far from it), and they offer limited support after Disc/Strength banners are dropped by 1 Warrior. It’s because they are so simple and unpunishing to play. They need their defenses reduced in a PvE environment.

The Warriors HP/Armor is a necessary balance in PvP due to missing aspects, such as own protection source, vigor, aegis etc. But it just makes them too easy for PvE, and it needs balancing.

And yes, I main a Warrior.

as long as all professions can dodge, all of them are unpunishing to play. You said you main warrior. Try Ranger where you have range, foe AI is infatuated with your pet and if worst comes to worst, your auto attack puts up a 33% auto evade immunity frame. Warriors are far from the worst offenders of anything…what can you say when death shrouds place a 10-12 HP buffer on you that is replenished as you attack with it.

Also for the recorded; HoTW P1
Stack at top of stairs by banner.
Stack on ice elementals to open door.
Stack on troll
Stack on boss
Stack on elites
Range Ginva

HoTW P2
Stack at top of stairs
Stack ice elementals
Stack wolves
Stack corrupted ice norn
stack everything actually until last boss

P3
Stack elite mob in corridor
Stack first boss
Skip one champ entirely/Range 2nd champ
Stack elite quaggans
Range boss
Stack next norn boss
Range final boss

It is the biggest stackfest..I just don’t see how you think you never see stacking in HoTW or Arah. They are the worst dungeons for it.

Ask yourself the question, “why do people stack?”
Is it because boss types have huge pools and only 2-3 attacks they rinse repeat and the ability to one shot, or near one shot you? What exactly is fun about this? Mike Tyson was put the the statement that a lot of previous wins had been against lesser boxers that weren’t credible threats to his championship. He replied, “I did exactly what a champ should do with a lesser opponent. I wasted no time and dispatched them quickly.”

This is the problem. The bosses aren’t engaging or they are overtly annoying where only one stat layout is needed to be effective. Smart players do what a smart player would do, they waste no time and dispatch it quickly. You’re hating the player and not the game so to speak. Give us bosses that can be engaged multiple ways that are interesting and I’ll bring my A-game, until then..They are nothing more than an obstacle in the way of the gold I want because they just don’t qualify enough to be a challenge where the reward is the enjoyment of beating them.

Warrior Hammer Nerf

This game needs stun immunity.

There is, it’s called stability and blind.

Instructions were unclear

Ran into melee train and died.

Bought more Dire gear for my Ele

Much complain.

That is basically what this thread is to me right now…

It’s like nobody in Gw2 has ever played an RvR game before. doesn’t anyone remember DAOC Stungard (Midgard)?

I don’t really care I am the one with the hammer in this game and I had a healer in the other. Chain stuns should not be happening.

I also wield the Hammer and I do care cause everyone is crying nerf to the weapons when the weapons aren’t the problem. It’s the way CC is handled that is the problem. Take the LB, it was fine until Anet changed immobilize to stack in duration. Now they have to slow the cast time down to make up for the the power increase of immobilize and make it more avoidably. If Anet made it impossible for Stuns to be applied over top of each other we would not have a problem with perma-stuns and it might even justify unnerfing the damage on ES and Staggering Blow.

My favourite a-net quote, “We’re going down this path regardless.”

players-’Don’t stack immobilise.’
a-net ’we’re down this path regardless.’
A-net ‘nerfing hammer’
players ’Let’s think about this..’
a-net -“going down this path regardless.”
A-net-‘nerfing longbow. Too much immobilize.’
Players-’You’re kidding me…’
a-net-‘Going down this path regardless.’

A lot of good suggestions got made on a lot of weapons/traits. A lot of good feedback was given about why certain mechanics should not be allowed to fly.

Went down that path regardless. After a few months after the last hammer nerf, still people upset by it..why? because the original changes just weren’t effectual. It didn’t change the situation, it only changed how warrior assign trait points.

[Suggestion] Tailor Dungeons to Zerkers

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

I am not in favour of any of this.

Mobs need to be more intelligent. Melee need to hassle weak targets. Range need to kite. Casters need to actively weaken and blind. Some mobs need larger toughness and less health making them susceptible to condition damage. Other need true zerker stats. All bosses need a core profession to work off that uses that professions skills. Some of their skills need increased damage coefficients, others need marginal coefficients but lesser recharges to compensate for 5 vs 1. All bosses must be able to be CC’ed /interrupted, but at the price it halves their cool down’s when they are. If you plan to chain interrupts/ CC’ing back to back, all you’re gonna do is increase the amount of skills used in the end by the boss so that they will eventually get a lot of their skills through.

Basically gw1 on steriods is what is needed. Mobs move out of AoE, they have professions and secondary professions that have synergy and mobs make use of hex/condition overload, spike damage, have healers and try to snare you.

This what is needed..it is low hanging fruit to simply make hundred blades do pathetic damage. Making the rich’s paycheck less does not help the poor in any way.

All I can see happening is;

“lfg. heavies/zerker preferred.” will be come now,

“Lfg. Heavies/zerkers only.”

The DPS has been lowered, so bring more DPS than ever to compensate for that. No more tolerating the odd necro or engineer in the group.

Myself and guild have had this worry with the already huge amount of people always asking for DPS heavies currently.

Mesmer Moa vs. Minion Necro a little much

in Profession Balance

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Moa Morph can blocked and dodged. Its casting can also be interrupted. By virtue you have elected all AI pets you have forgone the ability to block/stability/condition remove through utilities and perhaps find it hard to spot the cast through the minion clutter on screen. It is the risk you take when you place all your eggs in one basket. If you see a mesmer, you know it could happen so therefore should be very focused on watching for it.

All agree that a build that exploits such massive AI should have a very big down side to it. In this case it is moa morph. In gw1 you could destroy/steal another players minions/spirits and turn them against them. The mechanic of needing corpses help add a natural check and balance to the MM, and long cast times to the spirit spam ritualists. In gw2 there is no check/balance as such..so Moa acts as the hard counter to it.

Current State of the Warrior

in Warrior

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Warriors are significantly over powered at the moment. The key would be to make them, once again, extremely subject to condition damage with few ways to cleanse.

Warriors seem powerful if you don’t play their weapon. Once I was not just familiar with their weapons, but intimate with them, all i do now is look at the weapon. After that they are fairly easy to manage because you know what to expect and all of it comes with telegraphs. If you waste time being a clicker, looking at your cool downs, things in the environment then they become harder to face.

Key point: Keep your eyes on screen and you’ll soon notice warrior becomes not only very manageable, but very predictable to play against.

Hence why nobody uses the healing stance. Very telegraphed. Very easy to recognise immediately even if you missed the cast.

Unfortunately to keep eyes on screen 100% of the time it does require some investment in technology by the player. This is just a p2w situation with real life money because a-net refuses to make HUD customization.

Profession Changes

Elementalist:
Our changes for the elementalist focus on increasing sustain while maintaining the delicate balance between damage and durability. We achieved this by adding more defensive effects to a few main-hand weapon sets.

  • Signet of Restoration: Removed the split on this skill so that the signet passive heal amount will be increased in PvP to match the current PvE amount.
  • Armor of Earth: Reduced recharge from 90 seconds to 75 seconds.
  • Water Trident: Added 3 seconds of regeneration to up to 5 allies in the radius.
  • Burning Speed: This ability now evades attacks.
  • Frozen Burst: This ability is now a blast finisher.

Curious as to how ANY of this will actually HELP Elementalists? If you want to improve sustain – A good place to start would be looking at our pathetic health and Armor. Why is it they are the ONLY class that is Low Health and Low Armor? Sure at the start with the power they had i could understand but since then? Damage Nerfed, Healing Nerfed, Mobility Nerfed? what exactly have we gotten as compensation for all of this? Nothing

Just like how these are NOTHING changes, they won’t help us have “sustain” because guess what? We will STILL be forced to trait/build defensive or we die in seconds. So doing that forces us to have lower damage and STILL die fast. We go Zerker? We die fast, sure might get out some ncie damage but a SINGLE mistake will mean we die.

Again, i don’t see the Sustainability you seem to be after…

I don’t play elementalist in pvp. However this makes sense to me. After all the changes to ele it does make little sense to still have them entry level health and armor.
