Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

That is not a confirmation though is it? Considering that you have all unlocked at level 80.
Confirmation of what? Anet has explicitly said you simply spend the hero points to unlock the line and purchase the skills (like the vanilla traits/utilities) assuming one has HoT. There’s no special quest or other jazz that you need to do.
The only thing in the air is how many points will be required though it’s likely enough to simply be at lvl 80 and have a good chunk of the map cleared.
Have they stated a number? Should I grind all available hero points for each elite specialisation I wish to play?
No numbers announced, so it’s probably better to be safe than sorry.
We’ve already downloaded a lot of HoT files. The betas were played on live accounts so everything that was in the beta is already in our client. Even more than what was playable in fact since various things that weren’t in the beta were datamined.
We’ve downloaded all the revenant, elite spec, and Verdant Brink assets and a chunk of extra stuff(first Spirit Vale boss, a few other models), but nothing beyond that. I imagine we’ll have to download several more gigs when it goes live.
The Function Gyro needs to be a bit less selfless. The stomp aspect of it is only useful in PvP, the rez part of it is nice but also a bit too selfless. A scrapper running through HoT content solo might not get to use it as much – whereas other profession’s elite spec mechanics are always present and useful.
I’d suggest making the Function Gyro auto-deploy on yourself if you go down (assuming it’s charged).
Also, in general, Gyros need to have a better buff range and move faster.
F-Gyro’s completely useless as a stomp unless we get more stompable PvE enemies, like the Toxic Alliance courtiers. It takes a very long time and it’s squishy enough that any downed target can kill it and rally off of it. At that point you have to do something to keep them from attacking it, and then you might as well stomp them yourself and the gyro’s pointless.
I wish the entire thing could be scrapped(hue), but I doubt they have time for that. The others can be buffed and have their AI fixed, but F-Gyro is just bad conceptually. I don’t know what could be done to make it on par with attunement overload, facet of light, extra dodge, etc in terms of usefulness and flavor.
Will we finally get build templates with HoT?

Considering that build management tool is going to become really “needed” after HOT launches, it’s my opinion we will have to wait for outcry that will follow it. And even then I wouldn’t be surprised if they offered it only on gem shop.
I imagine we’ll have one or two additional templates available by default, and more can be bought for like 700 gems, like bag and bank slots.
Anyway, it’s a feature that’s been requested since vanilla beta. If it hasn’t been added in 3 years, I doubt it’ll be added any time soon.
Reminder that he’s been carrying around Caladbolg since the year of the PS. A sword produced by the Pale Tree, the same being that’s been giving birth to dragon minions.
Coincidentally, Priory characters encounter a sword forged with Jormag’s blood in the PS. It radiates corruption, and one cut is enough to turn a norn into an icebrood.
