Strength or discipline?

I assume he means the traits Strenght and Arms rather than the banners judging from his posts talking about traits. I’d recommend trying out both ofcourse, but from experience if going exclusively Arms or Strenght, Strengt over-all has the better traits, it offers a lot of down-right damage increasers for multiple weapon sets, where-as Arms have a lot on-crit proc effects and critical chance increasers, which are great, but without enough percision in gear it will likely slack behind. Like Julie said, build your ideas in http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/ or test them in Heart of the Mist.

Fast hands is already strong, but mind you, I’m quite sure they said 2-handed weapons would get 2 sigil slots instead of 1 to be on par with a mainhand + offhand combination, not that they’d add 1 to weapon. So 4 on-swap sigils seems unlikely. Still a worthy minor-trait to have, I make a lot of use of it with Sigils of Battle on my Axe/?? set, combined with a GS of Force.

If somehow I did misunderstood, yes Banner of Discipline is a lot better for damage increase; 15% critical damage is just epic (zerkers tend to aim close to 100% critical chance) where-as 170 Percision is more or less on par with 170 Power, depending on how people min-maxed their gear on top of that 170 Power/Condition damage usually only gets used for 60% (people tend to run power OR condition builds)

Obviously people would counter Condition builds hardly benefit from the 15% critical damage increase, how-ever a party with more than 1 condition specced person is already gimping itself, your banner-choice won’t matter.

I’d say test it for yourself in heart of the mist if you have a helpful ele-friend. I’ve never seen Forceful Greatsword trigger whilst using a FGS so I doubt any others will, but obviously didn’t record it, simply observed it.

New to game -what to level first?

1: Warrior is currently in an amazing class. Good DPS, unique buffs (banners, making you desireable in dungeons) and has a place in almost any place (PvP, WvW, PvE) which makes it, in my opinion, a good class to start with. That and heavies are always welcome.
2: Thief is fun, especially in sPvP and WvW roaming, in my opinion, but aren’t too beloved in every aspect of the game, which could form an issue if you fall in love with a certain game-aspect they’re not as desired (Dungeons/Fractal PuGs, amazing addition to an orginized group though) For leveling survivability I’d recommend you look at off-hand pistol 5, it will increase your survivability a lot assuming you’re in melee range of your foe.
3. Guardian is one of the classes that uses multiple weaponsets for different situations, making them in my opinion less stale than some other classes that tend to be stuck with a few options that outperform the others by too much and offer a lot of different utilities depending on the situation (unlike say warrior which is often expected to run For Great Justice with a banner, Greatsword and Axe/? combination) As for their mobility, yes it stinks, I’d recommend Retreat and Save Yourselves as utilities in Open World. Once again, quite beloved in groups, making it a good choice for a first level 80.
4. Just try it, you either love it or hate it.
5. I love Mesmer personally, how-ever it’s once again a hit or miss, so I recommend trying it out a bit more, slight warning, a lot of people hate leveling Mesmers mainly since their mobility is limited (blink + focus is more or less a must) and they’re relatively squishy and their AoE is more complicated to use than simple pressing 1 button. Mesmers once again have a place anywhere in the game, good at Roaming (WvW) nice utilities (Portal/Veil) for Zerks (WvW) decent DPS/support/utility for PvE. Quite desireable in groups aswell, though you’d generally see groups only wanting 1-2 non-warrior/guardians.

For sPvP all your toons start from scratch, no matter what level/gear you have in PvE, so I wouldn’t weight that too much in your choice since you can always make any class, enter sPvP at level 2 and be the same as your fully kitted 80. Lastly, you can always level another toon, so I’d pick one, if you later regret it, just level another one. Once you’ve got 1 level 80, leveling alts can go quite a bit quicker. (Crafting = Levels, it’s just pricy.)

Sorry for the wall of text

Use the Trading Post for your leveling equipment, it’s incredibly cheap. Overall the price of the items tends to be slightly higher than the price of the materials you get from salvaging them, so once you’ve outleveled the equipment, salvage it and sell the materials for minimal loss. It’s unlikely you can keep your toon properly geared with just drops. Trading Post also enables you to more or less chose your stats. Another easy way for some early stats is buying different runes with +10 of a stat of your choice. Early level it makes a great difference.

Keep in mind that Ranger is most likely the easiest class to level due to a pet that can distract your enemies whilst you (if you decide to do so) safely attack from range. Neither does it need gear, it scales by level, so it’s never undergeared. How-ever once you’re used to it, warrior shouldn’t be too difficult.

Other things you could do is equip some signets (they work great with the Arms trait; I Deep strikes whilst leveling) whilst providing some easy increased damage and survivability. Or maybe try some other weapons to see if they’re more your kind of thing.

Thief has to be So Much Stealth if you plan to roam in WvW, or Killsteal I suppose. So Much Blind, Pain (from both sides, nom 10k hp)
Elementalist, hmm So Much Might? All those Firefields and Blastfinishers.
Necromancer, maybe Fear?

I just realised something. I’m horrible at thinking of names. Goodluck picking a name. I love the ‘So Much’ name concept!

Can't decide which class to play

Esmee.1067

Note: This is for PvE-only! (Since you can PvP on a level 2. I feel in WvW every class is strong, if played in the right places, e.g. roam or zerg)
If you’re pugging, 9/10 times if there’s a certain class people want it’s for these reasons;
Guardian – Defensive purposes whilst maintaining high DPS. The support comes from utilities (which you will swap depending on situation) such as reflects (projectiles get send back to the user) Condition Removal and Stability. Their F1-3 skills providing a lot of blind on thrash (if specced) preventing a lot of damage and (if specced) provides either stability or condition removal (speccing both would be a DPS-loss)
Warrior – Unique offensive Support through banners (Discipline adds 15% critical damage! And some Precision, other banners are decent aswell) and Fury/Might on a decent upkeep (For Great Justice) due to this you’re usually stuck to 1 Banner, For Great Justice and 1 utility of your choice. On top of this you provide a lot of DPS, your HP-pool and Armor are quite impressive making this a good class to begin with.
Mesmer – Similar utility-wise as Guardian, some Condition Removal, Stability or Reflects as needed. Your focus has (if traited) a pull/push/knockdown and 2 reflects in one. Unique support in terms of a Portal, not always helpful, but it’s an amazing skill nonetheless and your elite can provide party-wide Quickness. Oh and like everything else, great DPS. Due to Blurred Frenzy it’s on of the easier (light) classes to melee with.
Elementalist – Stack Might and Fury like no other and the current meta is mainly DPS things down before you die, making these quite beloved. On top of that the Conjure weapons have amazing uses such as; Frost Bow 4 on huge targets and Fiercy Greatsword against a wall more or less makes anything explode. Do I need to mention amazing DPS?

In more orginized party’s Thief and Ranger become quite beloved.
Thief – Stealth can provide amazing little tricks to skip content or make things a lot easier. How-ever in PuGs if people don’t know the tricks, you’re more or less redundant. Other bonusses is perma-blind (pistol 5) on trash.
Ranger – Spotter, a trait, gives party-wide Precision. In a min-max group it’s amazing. But for pugging, bad Rangers (I’ve seen 1 good one and about 999 bearbows who provided nothing to the party) gave them a poor them, like mentioned above. Pets can (and should) be micro’d to go prevent bad aggro.

Engineer – Great Vulnerability Stacker and not bad at Might stacking. Downside? People feel Elementalists and Warrior do it better. To me they feel a jack of all trades. They can party-stealth if needed, stack fury if needed, thrown down a waterfield and heal if needed.
Necromancer – Not sure what to say, I think a mix of having to sacrifice DPS for support and the other way around on top of bad players giving the class a bad name. But I’m not quite sure, I simply use this toon to get loads of lootbags in WvW when my fav commander is commanding.

Ofcourse not all groups will exclude classes, but it’s right that some do. Lastly usually people prefer 1, maybe 2 non-heavy armor classes and the rest Heavy (aka Warrior or Guardian) which might affect your descision aswell.

Goodluck and enjoy the game!

In before hate: I don’t claim that any class is better than another, I simply summerized what a class brings to the group with meta-builds. I agree people should play a class they enjoy, but understand for some people it’s the class they feel the most useful with.

When to stop farming Essence of Luck?

Esmee.1067

I’m at 138% at the moment and I must say I don’t notice much difference, when I’m in a group of friends we have a range for 30%-138% MF and the amount of money we make from drops is equal, making me assume the increase is really small. Our rare/exotic magnet is ironicly our 30% MF buddy.

I’d never ‘farm’ MF in the form of salvaging ecto/buying greens/blues for salvage/etc. especially after 100%, I find it a waste for a few percentage. I do how-ever salvage almost every blue/green (except some trinkets/leather items) because from my experience the market balances extremely quickly, the items are close to the price their material sell for (the item obviously is slightly more expensive in almost every case) and it’s quicker to me to salvage than to open the TP all the time (especially when doing dungeons/fractals all day long.) I make exceptions whilst leveling since some items (power/percision trinkets for example) sell way above their material price.

But it’s so personal. Some people enjoy a carrot to chase after, or even just to feel you have some control over your luck (I know I do) or simply have a lot of money to waste. If someone has done the math one cost/efficiency I’ll be absolutely astonished due to how many factors are included.

That website is great, use it. (I do atleast.)

Small heads-up, 1-400 only gives 7 levels nowadays (used to be 10 from what I understood) and the 400-500 make up for the other 3. Due to that Cooking and Jewelry only give you 7 levels total and the others have quite a pricy last 3 levels. Use a birthday experience scroll you got one.

Goodluck!

Thank you for your responses. Now I’d only have to decide which armor-type to focus on first (light or heavy in my case) which definitly makes my choices easier. I’m already using consumeables but running into the issue of Agony resistance (Backpiece + Rings aren’t timed-gated too badly with multiple dailies but the rest of the trinkets are tough.) 5 Laurels + loads of ingame money vs 20/40 Laurels or guild commendations per +5 seems like a sweet deal.

Locuz is right about Engineer having complicated playstyles when you look at maximizing your own aswell as your teams capabilities. However every class has an easy yet effective option to use whilst you’re trying to get used to the class. Elementalist for example will do an excellent job sitting in Fire on a Staff spamming Lava Front and their Auto-attack, but bring a lot more utility playing with a more complicated rotation in say Scepter/Dagger or Dagger/Focus. The same goes for Engineer in my opinion. With the right traits you can sit in grenades and be quite an asset to the team, but you will eventually want to push yourself out of a comfort zone and learn the more complex rotations which will include swapping kits in quick succession to get combo’s off.

TL;DR: Play any class that appeals to you and dedicate yourself to being the best you can at it.

Thank you in advance for reading and any advise given!

I’ve played for 6 weeks now and loving Fractals, so I want to look into Ascended Armour-crafting. I’m having 2 difficulties though. 1: Alt obsession 2: Time-gated Laurels. So I’d like to know:

If I make a full berserker Ascended set for my Elementalist, can I make one for my Mesmer aswell without requiring more (time-gated) Laurels? (Recipe is 5 laurels if I’m not mistaken, thus 30 Laurels for a full set.)

Is it smart to go for the Armour before the Weapons? I swap weapons on a regular basis for almost any class (besides Elementalist and Engineer ofcourse) making me feel I’d have to do twice the work, or am I missing something? (That and who knows a Legendary might be my next goal.)

Is it announced yet when the oh-so-feared berserker nerf will be incoming? I quite enjoy the Berserker playstyle, but if other options become more viable it might be worth waiting a little for that to happen.

Thank you again for reading.

Switching it up is always a good idea. I think no-one bothered with a topic on all the terms since MMO’s seem to share terms a lot. (Like someone told me ‘Zerg’ comes from a Starcraft race rather than ber’zerk’er.) But from my experience the community is very helpful, so if you have any more questions, simply ask, or if I didn’t cover them properly.

What Class to Get?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

That’s the hell of picking a class in Guild Wars 2, every class can melee (and have a higher DPS potentional in melee according to the wonderful math done by people in the class forums) and not a single class in this game can tank (if you can hold aggro flawlessly in gw2, congratulations, you just became a god)

My recommendations:
Ranger: Can use a Greatsword, though the highest DPS-potentional seems to lay in the Sword / X (Warhorn has group-wide Fury, Swiftness and Might so I usually take that one, but Daggers are cool aswell.) The one big downside is: Sword Auto-attack 2 and 3 root you whilst using them. So incombat mobility can be tricky. Outside, well, Warhorn and Rampage as one give plenty of swiftness and Greatsword has a wonderful Leap. Not to mention 25% movement speed signet. Longbow 2-5 with Shortbow auto-attack make them decent at range aswell. As for Pets I’d recommend Jungle Stalker (group Might) and another Cat (or Red Moa for group-wide Fury if no-one supplies Fury) for groups and any cat (Lynx is quite sweet) for solo since their DPS is quite nice (just remember to swap pets when they’re low on HP)
Guardian: Decent mobility with Leaps/Teleports (Greatsword 3, Sword 2, Intervention) Swiftness (Staff 3 and Utilities Save Yourselves and Retreat) Though the chaining Blinds and Aegis can feel like a ‘tanky’ job in my opinion. No roots in the attacks except Greatsword 4. For range you’re stuck to Scepter though since Staff has a sad 600 range.
Mesmer: Mobility-wise they might seem a bit meh. No 25% movement signet and no permanent Swiftness (unless Superior runes are used) how-ever the utility Blink makes up for something, a lot actually. Sword / Focus + Sword / ?? seems to fit the playstyle you describe. The Greatsword Playstyle doesn’t seem like your thing (staying at max range is quite important) but maybe I misunderstood your priorities.

Necromancer doesn’t seem like your thing. Might be my lack of interest in my Necromancer that I can’t recommend them though. They’re kitten survivable though with high base vitality and an extra HP-bar with Death Shroud if needed.

If you can’t chose, honestly, roll a dice (it’s what I do) you can always get more character slots (besides you already found out Thief is not your thing.) Be wary though for Ranger since your melee options are limited if incombat movement is very important to you. Also be wary of Guardian if you plan on ranging a lot. It doesn’t seem too interesting (I hate ranged combat with a passion on any class, so once again, I might be extremely biased.)

Zerk/Zerg can refer to a number of things;
- Berserker Armor; Armor with Power/Percision/Critical damage, the most common armor used to get through content quickly since dodges often prove sufficient for survival if you kill everything quick enough (note that Assassin armor is similar with Percision/Power/Critical damage)
- The player; wearing Berserker or Assassin armor, using weapons and traits mainly aimed at killing things in the shortest amount of time possible.
- A group; running together in say World vs World (blue tag usually means Zerg here) or Champtrains in Queensdale and Frostgorge for farming purposes. But guildwars often refers to them as trains.

Living Story differs from location. Along your personal story and achievement watchlist there should be a yellow start, click somewhere in the text and the map will show you where to go. Most Living Stories can be done before level 80.

Gear differs in quality (White < Blue < Green (Masterwork) < Yellow (Rare) < Orange/Gold (Exotic) < Pink/Purple (Ascended/Legendary,) white being the worst and Pink/Purple the best) but until level 80 I’d not be too fussed. At level 80 you will generally start with getting yourself a Rare or Exotic set, depending on your wealth. Ascended and Legendary have the best stats in the game, but are only required for certain aspects of the game (40-50+ Fractals) which by the time you get there, you’ll understand the game enough. Exotic/Rares are purchase-able for gold, sometimes Karma or Badges of Honor + gold (WvW currency)

Map completion is usually the recommended way of leveling. Queensdale champ-farm is quite active on most servers (try guesting on a different server if your doesn’t do them, you guest in your character screen by selecting ‘World Selection’ picking a server (high population recommended) and Guest, you can guest up to 2 servers) but all in all the experience isn’t much better than exploring. Other options are; World vs World, Crafting (expensive) Dungeons (teamplay) and chain-event farming. I likely missed some.

I’d not worry about stats too much until level 80. Whilst leveling I personally go for Power/Percision/Critical damage (and at level 80, but that’s simply my playstyle) to kill things a bit faster since I never lack survivability (if you do, look at toughness/vitality) I fear I’ve got no good link explaining it in depth. I use this: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Equipment_acquisition_by_stats#Level_80_exotic_equipment to find the name of the stat combinations I want, it doesn’t go too indepth, but does have all the information needed (at level 80, again before that, just buy some Masterworks (Green) on the Trading Post every ~10 levels)

Mistfire Wolf

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

In teamplay I can’t think of any class that would use Mistfire (or Racials) over their own abilities. So I’d honestly save yourself the cash/gold.

Even for solo (like mentioned above) it’s only worth it on some classes:
Mesmer – All elites are team (and situation) based, making Mistwolf a good choice whilst solo, but so do Hounds of Balthazar (Human) Golems (Asura) Sylvan Hound (Sylvari) and Warband Support (Charr)
Elementalist – The Elemental is most likely better and more versitile, higher up-time.
Necromancer – Golem has full uptime, making it in my opinion a lot better.
Ranger – Ramage as One is pretty kitten good for solo aswell as teamplay.
Engineer – I only ever used Supply Crate, which I suppose is better in teams, so Mistfire ‘might’ be worth it, but once again so are the (non-norn) racials.
Thief – Thief Guild is likely just as good if not better.
Warrior – Signet of Rage is amazing for solo-play.
Guardian – Elites are either teambased (mainly) or unneeded for solo. But then once again, racials are likely just as good as Mistfire.

The only arguement in favour of the Mistfire Wolf, it’s is free, which whilst leveling can definitly make a difference. I personally never lacked skillpoints (I just look ahead which utilities I want and I find most 10-skillpoint elites more useful for solo-play) I get it out once in a while whilst solo’ing. Hounds seem to be stronger, but have a longer recharge. (Ye, I exclusively played human so far)

New player playing as Elementalist

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

I recommend looking at your personal story as a ‘bonus’ rather than the way to level. It gives decent experience, but not enough to level. To level I’d recommend;

- Exploring; Basicly you view every vista, do every skillchallange/heart and run by every point of interest in a map. Exploring gives you a lot of experience since almost anything you do in this game gives experience on top of that it can give you a starting buck (some gathered materials sell for quite a penny.) Look at the levelrange of a map and see if it’s something you can handle (if you’re done with your race’s starter map, go to a Lion Arch portal, there you will get portals to the other race’s starter area’s.)
This: http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/interactive-maps/ Can come in handy if you’re not the type that enjoys looking for difficult to find places.
- World vs World vs World; Only recommended if you actually enjoy such thing. Here servers fight vs servers, aka PvP (though in such big numbers 1 person won’t make the difference) go find a blue symbol on the map and follow it. Not the fastest way to level, but quite decent IF you enjoy PvP-like events in massive zergs.

Ofcourse do your personal story when it’s around your level range. The experience isn’t bad. Other ways to level (which I generally don’t recommend for your first toon)

- Champtrain; In the starter map for humans (Queensdale) people often farm the same few champions (with events attached) for some money/experience/I actually don’t know why. It doesn’t actually give that much xp/hour, but you can grind out a few levels if really needed. It won’t show you any good sides of the game in my opinion, so I’d avoid it.
- Meta-event farming; Basicly the same as above, but then more aimed at a few events in quick succession, not sure people still do that though.
- Dungeons; Great source for experience, however PuGs can be quite unfriendly and even kick lower levels or unexperienced people. On top of that dungeons can prove quite challanging at first. I recommend finding a guild that is willing to teach.
- Crafting; With the materials you saved up (or sold and then with the money you saved up) you might make the choice to craft, which also gives experience in this game. How-ever, once again doesn’t show you much of the game and you might leave it to an alt, but when really in need of a level, it might be an option.

Lastly, try to join a guild that fits your needs. Most servers have loads of guilds that are open to newer players and eager to help. It’s a great way to meet people and make friends, who in return introduce you to aspects of the game that might be difficult to get into on your own.

PS: After leveling everything but Engineer, I must say both Elementalist and Mesmer weren’t the most friendly classes to level, but it gets a lot better once you get a bit higher leveled. For Elementalist I’d recommend taking Arcane Shield or Signet of Earth for a bit more survivability as utilities. Mesmer I personally loved Sword as weapon with any off-hand whilst leveling, but my friends had mixed experiences, so I refrain from recommending anything on leveling a mesmer.

Legendary Weapons: craft or buy?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

Either way you’ll be farming a lot. It will be cheaper to craft your Legendary however, this comes along with certain unavoidable tasks such as collecting;
- Skillpoints (200-300)
- Karma, Fractal Relics, Laurels or a combination of the three
- 500 Badges of Honor
- 100% Map Completion (Gift of Exploration)
- 500 Dungeon Tokens (which differ per Legendary, Honour of the Waves for Frostfan and Ascalon for Bolt if I recall correctly)

Unless any of the above mentioned will be an enormous issue, I’d recommend crafting your own Legendary, it offers more variation, making it a more pleasent experience in the long run for most people. Since you require less coin (people selling the Legendary always intended to make it for sale, you’re paying for the materials, TP fee and their time spend) it should be faster aswell.

Note: I didn’t double check if I mentioned everything that can’t be bought with gold.

Guardian Everything Build

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

Alejhondo asked if his build would do ok in aspects such as Fractals and WvW, not how to min-max, so why turns this into an optimal game-play discussion? There’re plenty of threads supported with the math and the experience behind it, such as Obal’s excellent thread posted a few replies above me, I recommend you take those discussions there and answer Alejhondo’s question here.

As for the question, yes your build will do fine in lower level Fractals and WvW. WvW you will want some survivability if zerging, which your build has. You likely want to add a Staff to your inventory for tagging. If roaming is more your cup of tea, I don’t think it will go great, but I never roamed with my Guardian. If you fall in love with WvW you’ll likely adjust your build, utilities and weapons once you’re comfortable doing so.

As for Fractals. In lower level Fractals you can get away with quite a lot, and if you want to get used to new area’s with a build you’re comfortable with, then do so. Dungeon builds often work quite well in lower level Fractals and the other way around. Do mind that some groups prefer to Range certain fights and it might be worth investing in a Scepter for that, it will most likely make your experience more pleasent aswell to just have the option available.

(In before Scepter hate, when referring to a fight range is a ‘must’ I think the 600 range vs the 1200 range is the most vital difference hence I recommended Scepter, Staff has plenty of uses, but more related towards running and LoS pulling (staff 5 is so OP))

The most important thing is that you’re enjoying the game and in the way you seem to enjoy the game, there’re plenty of groups who’d love to have you (and surely plenty that won’t, read the group finders and it will make everyone’s day a lot better.)

(If I offended anyone, that was not my intention)

GW1 Nostalgia -- Why not just PLAY GW1?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Oh really now? What is this vertical progression you speak of?

Faction points.
Sunspear points.
Lightbringer points.
(Two of which were actually REQUIRED to even get past certain parts of the MAIN STORYLINE, and the third more or less required to do a certain dungeon or even certain parts of the world, including later missions.)

Ebon Vanguard points.
Deldrimor points.
Norn points.
Asura points.

I would say that was a rather massive amount of grind and vertical progression there, especially since all of those gave skills and most (all but Factions and Sunspear) gave very real and quite powerful passive effects when equipped.

Lol. Those were faaar from a grind. Sunspear required 1k points if I remember correctly and you could easily get 50 points from one single quest (not to mention extra points from killing hostile mobs), and each quest was unique and not repetitive but rather fun in my experience. Lightbringer points were gathered through simply following your story, I didn’t even farm for any of it.

All the other titles were pretty much not needed. You could get them by grinding sure, but they werent needed for anything, just for players who wanted to show: I completed x, y, z.

Your point is invalid.

I am with you that it’s far from a bother. You could play the game easily without them, I’ve cleared DoA, UW, FoW and any other PvE content without using PvE-only skills or displaying titles. How-ever, would it have been quicker and easier with? Yes, aka Vertical Progression: Being max in certain titles greatly helped in certain content just like in a game like WoW better gear did. Whether it was a bother or not differs per person.

GW2 does the exact same thing though by introducing Ascended Gear, especially since it gives an advantage over Exotic in PvP situations (If you ever considered AB/JQ/FA PvP, you can’t deny WvW being PvP.) I feel though, that people greatly desire that.

I played GW1 mainly for the GvG, their PvP in general was amazing. Loads of options leaving something for everyone. I never got how people could enjoy its PvE though. It felt very reptitive just getting through certain missions for certain looks, let alone titles. GW1 had a lot of (seemingly unique, but I haven’t played that many MMO’s) playstyles, such as protection monk (most MMO’s seem to have mainly reactive than preemptive ‘healing’) and the mesmer/ranger playstyles with unique shut down and interrupts were something I really enjoyed from both playing as dealing with it. Anyway enough nostalgic rant.

But no matter how much I loved GW1 (likely my favourite game ever, definitly MMO) it does feel, been there done that, the second many good friends and players started moving on, this was way before GW2 was released. I see GW2 as an unique game, it’s good in it’s own way and I know I’ll never find something like GW1 again, too bad, but get over it people. GW2 has done great on a lot of aspects and many people love and enjoy this game, there’s room for improvement, just like any game, but that’s not by copying GW1. Like people said, age is one factor, but if it was the best of the best, it would be a lot more lively, I’m sorry but WoW seems to prove that. (Never played it, don’t have an account, so just going by what I hear people say.) Yes, I’m aware how much hate not being negative about WoW will give me…

Getting old titles and achievement points

It’s highly unlikely;

Titles are currently a show-off that you were there during a certain Living World event, for this reason a lot of people are motivated to do Living World asap partly due to it being their 1-time chance. Ofcourse, because we enjoy doing it should be the one and only reason, but let’s face it, people like rewards. On top of that, so far certain re-occuring Living World events (think Wintersday) reward a different title, showing they have no intention on giving people a second chance to obtain the title from last year. Lastly titles in gw2 are independant (e.g. gw1 would be unbalanced if there were 1-time only titles due to gwwamm-progression requiring x amount of titles) leaving no reason in that aspect.

So I don’t see it happen, but only the Devs would know for sure.

1. You charge us to go to a WP, which is just stupid.
- As a trade-off, we get WPs almost everywhere, if you chose so, you hardly have to walk anywhere you’ve been before, which is a luxery not many games have, neither does it have a cooldown. There’re enough Asura gates to reduce some costs (I don’t quite know them, but like enter PvP to get to LA, go from LA to Hoelbrak for Frostgorge, I think there’s a Pact portal aswell for Orr, I’m lazy though and rather spend the silver.) But yes, I do agree it can add up and maybe getting an X-amount for free per day or give a free one every hour or so could motivate people to travel once, walk the rest.

2. You charge us to list our stuff on the TP, another stupid idea.
- Listing fees are not only a gold-sink, it prevents people from using the TP as an additional storage (which in this game is rather rare.) Without a listing fee, simply post anything for 100x what it’s worth and take it out when you need it.

3. Whenever we do find a way to make money you guys nerf it by stopping it or way lowering the drops we get.
- Isn’t doing the same optimal thing for money over and over worse than learning something new once in a while? Opinion-based I guess.

4. Donate to Winterdays to get part of the achievements, is outragous.
- Lazy, lazy, lazy Anet, I agree, luckily it’s not the only way to get the meta-achievement (do dailies)

Your best looking character.

Hard to say, I got 2 very nice ones right now. My sylvari elementalist is semi biker chick (least as much as gaia outfits allow) and then my norn engineer with a very nice Space marine look going thanks to his new gas mask.

That sounds amazing!

Show them both?

Do I play too much SAB?

I started playing around the beginning of April, so only focussed on this for about a week now, daily on 8 toons. First to get weapons for my 3rd toon, a mesmer, how-ever when I heard about the weapon skins I figured it would make a nice way for a starting buck. No luck yet though.

Few questions I wonder if I can ask them here.

1. The weapon skins drop from the glorious chest (after cage boss 1, 2 and the frogboss) right? Or have I been doing something horrible wrong.
2. I’ve got about a stack left-over after buying the 4 skins for my mesmer, what would people’s recommendation be for the other ~stack+ bauble bubbles?
3. It’s confirmed the skin will not return in any (possible, hopefully) future SAB?

Thank you in advance. Good to see many people got quite some skins!
