For wvw I think pets need health scaling with the amount of enemies nearby. Pets best used in these fights would be support/aoe.

As far as reliability of hits goes, I think adding an f1 skill that uses the pets secondary attack is a good option while also reducing the cast time of their f2 skills. Being able to kite the pets auto attacks is good. No one wants to spend half the fight trying to take down a pet only to be killed by the ranger.

I think thats really all it needs to be relevent, plus a few reworks of f2 skills.

I am curious, does the cooldown of 2s per attacker work internally or is the cooldown applied to the attacker?

What I mean is lets say you use aura share and a guardian spins and hits 2 players with shocking aura. Would that strip 2 stacks of stability?

kitten ur right i overlooked condi damage. People have tried a build like this before. The damage to survivability ratio isn’t good enough. Its just a bad version of old celestial meta, which probably wouldnt even work in todays meta.

Hello I have mained ele for 3 years so I hope my advice has some value. Play the class more. Everyone says its god mode but does require knowledge of the class to be played. The best way to learn is to keep trying.
Ele has actually had a harder time in this meta than the previous ones (I quit playing pvp shortly after this season though). I usually take cleansing water instead of powerful aura these days since half your auras can still be given away without that trait.

You don’t have to bunker a point to play support. You might find you survive better just on this rule alone. Don’t sit in damage. I think its better for you to get decapped than to end up dying to a kitten DH that just drops traps to win (daze on traps is actually a big counter to ele because it ruins most overloads)

Auras are one of the strongest affects in the game. The only one that needs a buff is maybe fire aura.

Also sand squall is the only skill in the game that applies an aura on top of an additional affect. I wouldn’t really call it poor design but it is definitely functioning to support boon and aura sharing with warhorn.

I would be happy if just Aftershock lost its cast time that way it can be cast during an overload to trap enemies in the overload for a couple seconds. Its a small change that would buff them in wvw and not so much in pvp. I also think it would be better at a 40s cd.

Anet has been slowly improving other aspects of the game. I am sure pvp changes will come soon.

Changing the trait system is unnecessary at this point. They simply need to buff certain utilities and traits for classes. Almost all of the elite specilizations offer improved aspects to classes without really limiting other aspects and that is why they are so relevent today.

Making the game free to play and trying to sell Heart of Thorns with strong specilizations resulted in huge power creep.

They also should of separated skills and stats from wvw/pve and pvp if they were serious about creating a pvp game because it limits what they can change.

Basically they made a lot of irreversible decisions that ruined the games potential.

The rest of what I am about to say is purely my speculation and in no way reflects Colin Johanson and the ArenaNet staff’s continued dedication to the game..

Basically I think NCsoft pulled all the strings for the way the game started going after and during development of Heart of Thorns. Anet has to continue to make profit after all.

The way I see it Colin got frustrated with the direction of the game and resigned. I mean he quit at one of the worst possible moments for this game and not long after the expansion went live and the game went free to play.

I think the build is pretty good from what I saw. It feels a bit more like a bruiser than a roamer.

Some things I noticed from your video is your lack of stun breaks really hurts your survivability. I think replacing blinding powder with Bandit’s Defense will go a long way, especially vs the DH traps.

I play vs Condi Thief….he put blind on you evry 10 sec you can remove 4 condi evry 40 sec so try to remove conditions with elementalist from Traits is onlt the new Diamnd Skin that you remove a condition only when you get struck and that happens when you are hit criticaly and if the enemy is on CONDITION damage when is will actually remove conitions —-NEVER-— and btw that happen if you are above 75% of youre life. yes i know we have a heal skill that remove coniditions but when i do that i can do anything else for about 5 sec +. Did anyone want to say how many CONDI cleanse a DRUID have…..aloooot. A mesmer make me Moa for 2 times in a row and try to remove condi when you cant.

Clearly your build is bad or you don’t know how to play it if you have ANY issues with condi on an ele. Again, see my build if you want to learn anything.

Every time aura is applied, you grant yourself and allies protection, regeneration and vigor. Every time you grant regeneration, you clear a condition.

Run the 3 utility skills that give auras, theres 3 condition clears. Every overload gives you an aura, thats another 4 condition clears. Dagger air 3 clears another, warhorn earth 4 clears another, water 5+3 combo clears another, also if you are running the trait to clear a condition when attuning to water. How much more cleanse do you need???? That is 11 condition clears with very little cooldown and you have diamond skin on top of it clearing a condition every second when you’re above 75% hp.

If you can’t stay above 75% hp fighting a condi class with all of that at your disposal, I don’t know how to help you anymore…

Probally you miss some math here as i said before if that thief put perma blind on you and you have 11 cleans thas ok but those cleans are not coming all togheter, i dont know on wich server are you palying but in the end all elementalist i ask to beat this condi thiefs or mesmers they all lose evry fight trying aagain and again. you have lots of cleans but you will sacrifice other for all those and thief is have the optin to interupt you to get invis etc….im not saying that Thief is not ok to be made for this fight but when a thief is killing you in 3 sec and yes 3 sec is the time and is still invisibile then you put in the mind of new players to wvw what they will comment,, guild wars 2 is full of hackers and cheater someting invisibile kill me’’ mesmer is making me MOA and i dont have any options to use any of those cleans …once im back dang mesmer is making me MOW again from the skill that refresh his skill in 1 sec so again coniditons on me and i cant do nothing.
i ressist in fight but at one point you will end up by not having enaf damage and no cleans and healing will not be enaf…..i said under 75% because is usefull to have that trait condition will get remove only when you will be hit by a critical damage and if a thief or a mesmer is full condi you will get hit by a critical damage NEVER.

This is more of a concept than something I put time into creating, but I think it would be cool for thieves to have a slower paced combat where they could stay in the melee fight.

Basically a thief that wields a greatsword that has some type of charge and knockdown in its weapon.

Instead of going for stances that have a duration, thieves will get access to stances on low cooldown that last for as long as they want, but it diminishes initiative over time.

For example, a stance that reduces incoming damage by 50% and a stunbreaker stance that pulses 1 stack of stability every second. The stances diminish about 1 initiative every second.

If its a concept people would be interested in seeing I don’t mind spending time creating the weapon, traits and stance abilities.

Based on animations alone asura comes out on top.

I really like the skins, and have a lot of tickets with which to get em, but I still don’t agree with the choices made with making these bound.

As far as being special, there’s no lore behind them (yet), and if they really were special, they would’ve been obtainable via gameplay, maybe associated with the little tidbits of Living World we’ve been getting.

I don’t usually think things like this are worth commenting on, but in this case, I mostly hope our opinions matter enough to prevent trends in the future.

Pretty sure its Anet’s way of saying you need to purchase gems to obtain future skins. Can you really blame them though. They are trying to make the game survive off the gem store. They have over 200 employees and a vast amount of servers so I don’t blame them for making this kind of choice.

I would of strongly prefered a monthly fee and removing free to play but can’t do much about that now. Games become free to play usually always follows the downfall of the game.

You can run this and just change the sigils and runes to support healing of allies.

Change Ferocious Winds to Zephyr’s boon and change the fire traitline to water would be my overall recommendation for what you want.

How come shouts introduced in Heart of Thorns have a cast time but the shouts on warrior and guardian do not?

I guess the reason I ask is slight annoyance at not being able to cast some shouts while overloading mixed with the lack of consistency that shouts are instant because you are shouting

I’ve been putting together an elite spec concept called the Sear which essentially uses burns to purge conditions from allies and having an elemental adrenaline bar. Basically the bar fills up and you gain access to a powerful attack that changes based on attunement. Once it is used you enter an elemental exhaustion state which puts all skills on that attunement on a 10s cooldown.

Right now I am leaning more towards hammer for it, but am open to suggestions.

Thats the only meta build for ele atm. There are some builds people swear by but they are not optimal. As far as wvw goes, you can play many different kinds of builds.

Tempest backline, core backline, tempest frontline. I’ve even seen people play staff as a frontline.

In PvP it was strong and it needed nurfed, but it didn’t need removed. They could have dropped each stat by 10-15 points and it would have been fine.

As far as in WvW, celestial isn’t OP. It is a strong stat combo to run on Guardians and Elementalists, but it isn’t the “best” combination for any given thing. It is just a really well rounded stat combo that allows you to be a “true hybrid” and utilize the full potential of a class. Celestial is certainly good on ele and guardian, I’ve run it on both and my guardian runs Celestial for roaming and group play. Even my Engineer has a celestial set and is pretty good in it.

I don’t feel that cele is op at all, it is just well rounded. In PvP, they could have fixed it, but it was easier for them to just drop it completely than deal with people complaining about the nurf.

I think they dropped celestial because most classes that used condi damage used it. They could of just nerfed burn uptime and might stacks and i would of been fine.

Focus for obvious reasons. Better condi clear and a free oh kitten button. Warhorn relies on aiming forward too much for my tastes.

Cleansing Water is better for a condi meta and is my much preferred trait. Powerful Aura is better if the enemy team has more power damage.

This is how I feel the weapon should be changed.

First change the auto attack to function similar to Elementalist Dagger water auto attack. Hitting an enemy as it passes through and hitting them again as it makes its way back to you. Boost the damage coefficient by 100%. Gain a might stack on the first hit and a might stack on the second hit.

Second remove the bleeds from axe 2 and increase the damage coefficient by 100%.

Third make axe 3 aoe by default.

I don’t think there is anything to prove.
You can have no matchmaking where everyone is thrown into the first spot available and the winner is totally random.
You can have real matchmaking where every game is almost a draw.
Or you can have whatever this is, pre-determined win/loss.

Good luck creating an mmr system that makes every game a close match regardless of team comp and individual player skill.

Pretty much. High damage is like being able to crit over 5k from a meteor shower these days. You might hit 9k in full zerker, 25 might stacks and lots of damage modifiers on a light armor class.

At the end of the day it comes down to the amount of conditions placed on you vs how many cleanses you have available. As far as 1v1 situations and even damage goes, power and condi builds should be just about even. Problem is, its a team game and 2 players putting conditions on you is already more than your cleanse can keep up. Put 5 players on a team, all corrupting boons and all placing every condition on the game to the entire team in seconds and there is nothing you can do. Its not even a proper fight at that point.

I would also like to add that condition builds are more forgiving because you don’t have to constantly be attacking or be within melee range for damage (not all classes but a prime example is power warrior vs condi warrior)

What to do as a bunker ele to help you carry not so great players I think is what you are really trying to ask.

The safest thing would be to just stay at mid the entire game, unless you are just getting 3v1 its better to run away than die. Bunkering mid makes the mid fights easier while allowing teammates to focus their efforts on to the home node or push to far.

The hardest thing is trying to make up for your teams mistakes by carrying them at home and mid.

A couple of fighting tips.
1. Dont be afraid to stand off point for a second or 2 to avoid damage
2. Earth overload is the safest overload to use in large team fights and should be used often

Reduced cooldown of arcane shield. Functionality change to make it more reliable. Thief and rev can pop it so quick you might as well not run it.

Boon strip from arcane utilities by changing Elemental Surge trait to strip 2 boons instead of apply a condition.

Condition removal from standing in fire fields added to Persisting Flames

One with Fire applies might on all auras.

Burning Precision has a 100% chance on critical to apply burn.

Tempestuous Aria now has a shout reduced cooldown affect.

Back in the day people played the meta d/d build with scepter and it worked fine. Its not a requirement, but you miss out on easy potential damage. I’d even argue scepter is better than dagger for 1v1.

Scepter is in an okay place how it functions currently. The biggest thing is the lack of consistent damage (though has large, hard to avoid burst) and being unable to cut through the toughness of bunker playstyles

I think you get more from earth.

Mostly. Its a build I use sometimes in pvp so the initial burst helps. Its probably not required to use though I haven’t really messed with earth for a damage build. The reduced cooldown of focus 4 and 5 in water is more useful than you would think though the reduced cooldown from earth could be better overall too.

I chose water because of the extra condi cleanse and initial burst. Soothing ice helping with overall kiting that is gained from taking One with Air. You gain an extra condi clear from that, water trident and swapping to water.

I usually take the cantrip heal instad because its casts reliably in this build and you can still keep pressure up while its being cast due to the instant casts of air 2, earth 2 and Arcane blast.

This build is good at what it does damage wise, but you probably won’t be winning many 2v1 or vs cheesy condi builds (condi thief and condi mesmer mainly).

1v1 condis are fine. The problem comes from conditions from multiple sources, being focused onto one target. There is not enough condition cleanse to keep up. This is why I think changing resistance to – 50% condition damage and making it more available is good for the game.

For the first build feel free to take any grandmaster in air you feel is good. For the second build you can take Poweful Aura instead of Cleansing water if your group has other reliable condition cleanses.
