Trap duration and condition applied by trap duration are 2 different things. Traps apply damage in two ways.
1. Per pulse – several times during the trap duration ( can crit )
2. Conditions – on top of those pulses they apply conditions ( burning, poison, bleed, freezing ).
This trait affects point 2 you can test it on the golems in the mists.
drop a spike trap without the trait and see how long the bleeds last → repeat with the trait

Actually if you spec for healing / toughness, you cannot be killed by conditions and you have enough to sustain you for a long time against direct damage, but you have to accept that you will kill slow.

We have skills and traits that stack bleeds on crit and that works with trap pulse crits.

So, how do you make that immortal build?

We have several skills that add change to apply bleed on crit + a sigil, works with traps => chance to apply bleed with each trap pulse ( aoe ).

I’ve tested it => high crit/cond dmg items + 3 ( bleed, snakes, fire ) + quickness on pet swap = 25 stacks of bleed + burning + poison

it’s not exactely easy to pull off each time, but in the worst case if specced right crit helps you apply a few extra bleed stacks

Conditions do not crit

1. Traps crit
2. Traps pulses crit
3. We have numerous traits and items that apply bleed on crit

1+2+3 => Additional chance to apply bleed stacks on each trap pulse ( considenring you get some reasonalble crit rate)

So in a way crit + traps can be beneficial.
