What you hate in your Engineer?

There’s a handful of issues with the Engineer. however I’d be patient and okay with all of them IF

The numbers on my weapons applied to my kits or if I had some way of actually improving my kits and customizing them beyond the standard stat pool they already give. Wouldn’t hurt to have some visual change options here either.

Why do I even bother to equip a weapon?

Why don’t you use Net Shot before you use Grenade Barrage?

That’s not exactly the point here. Besides why would I? I’ve used grenades so long that targeting even moving mobs is easy.

Engineer needs some kit control

This class uses kits I would imagine a large portion of the time. Those kits come with standardized numbers that cannot be altered. This is not good because it takes away the weapon customization that other classes get. I can make or equip a legendary rifle, but it won’t matter because if I use the flamethrower I won’t get ANY of the numbers from that rifle, not to mention I don’t get to use any sigil attached to it.

This is a poor design flaw. If you can’t allow engis weapon to dictate their kit numbers then you need to allow us to customize our kits.

I use grenades as my primary form of damage dealing, in fact so much so that I never have my rifle toggled over. I can’t remember the last time I actually shot someone with my gun.

Yesterday for no apparent reason I crafted my exotic rifle, equipped it and was happy with the stat gain then realized that it’s all fake. The moment I switch to grenade kit my stats will go back to the numbers they were before the rifle existed.

Now I feel like i wasted time and money crafting that rifle, but also realize I would do just as well without ANY weapon equipped at all. That’s dumb, engineer, in my opinion, should not have kits dictate their numbers especially since we have no control over what those numbers are. The numbers on the kits should equal the numbers on the weapons.

I won’t even go into the sigil frustration.

Frustrated with Risen respawn rate/aggro range

I used to hate Orr because of the thick waves of mobs that you simply couldn’t just get thru without fighting, not to mention you can’t really kite there because you’ll attract about fourty other mobs in the process.

Now I hate Orr because of that as well as the goofy aggro rules. Last night I was moving thru an area, there were about 6 risen. The 3 closest ignored me entirely, the fourth one out ran right thru his buddies and was WELL out of range of any of my attacks and literally hauled kitten to come to me and start attacking. I stood there dumbfounded, just letting him hit me since he clearly wanted to so badly.

Seriously, Orr is blah. I’m all for a challenging map but there’s a difference between challenge and tedium.

Better Black Lion Keys?

Okay, so I just read that black lion keys now give “better” items. My questions is, what are those items? Better is pretty vague and frankittenhe chests I’ve opened have always thus far included transformation tonics (used to be specific but now they’re “better” and just grouped into one rando-tonic). A boost and sometimes a tool or other item off the BLT.

Essentially, what is making these “better” now? Because the last “better” was simply merging the useless tonics into one pile instead of many.

All these bugged skill challenges..

All the bugged skill challenges that keep happening reset after reset are all the fighting ones. At this point simply resetting them so that they work for a small while and then bug out again is just frustrating us more. Why not alter them all to just be channeled skill points like the rest? Would certainly make them not bug out until you can actually solve the problem eh?

female heavy guild armor

Not entirely sure this is JUST for heavy guild armor or where it’s coming from exactly, but when I use the guild heavy armor on my toon she seems to have a small gap between her lower and upper halves.

Normally I don’t notice it but during vistas and on character select it’s very evident.

I don't want to use Potion builds. Should I pick a new class?

Someone mentioned elixer S, I’m not a fan of it. Rocket boots gets me out of stuns and locks all the same and away from my enemy just as well, plus it does a little dmg.

Anyone else feel like Orr is boring?

Upon hearing about Orr during the betas I anticipated reaching the levels in order to play there. Once I got there I found the zones to be needlessly confusing in design and relatively bland and not in the least interesting to look at.

Compound that with the risen. yeah I expected them to be everywhere, I didn’t expect them to be so thick that if you pull one you pull 3 and all of them have knockdowns / stuns / cripples, and god forbid you move in that fight because you’ll probably pull 3 more.

Now I’ve found the risen to be a boring and ugh worthy enemy since I first encountered them. They don’t invoke fear or dread or some sense of OMG they’re coming, they instead invoke a sense of “kittennot more of these things”. Other mobs are fun to fight, Risen are boring as hell.

I won’t mention buggy skill challenges and events, that’s stuff that gets ironed out, but can be considered icing on the cake of why I feel Orr is boresville.

Bombs do less dmg then nades eh? You’re doing it wrong. I personally love the bomb kit, in fact a combination of grenades, Bombs, rifles can be crippling.

Give the rifle a weapon swap.

I was both underwhelmed by the engineer weapons for a very long time to be honest. Sure there was some fun stuff but I never got a good feeling about the weapons. I’ve played other classes and their weaps define so much of the class. I almost abandoned the Engi until I realized something.

The weapons are augments to the kits. Our…weapons really are the different kits we can use, not the pistol / shield/ rifle. Once I started augmenting the kits I was using with the weapon, instead of trying to build around the weapons themselves, I started being a lot more viable and have a lot more fun.

The rifle, for example, is fine for some DPS, but not amazing. I use it however in combination with bomb kit and grenade kit with deadly efficiency. Chill nade, (various nade cycle) once they’re close, rifle #4, rifle net, back to nades.

OR when i’m going for the big booms (this one primarily in dungeons but sometimes I’ve used it in DEs) Rifle #5 to get me in, bomb the crap out of the area, once I’ve drawn attention, Rifle #4, chill nades, and nade out a bit.

ANYHOW just my two cents

It's expensive to play with low-level friends.

My problem is even on equal level zones the cost to use a waypoint is equal to or barely lower (And rarely higher) than the reward you get from say, finishing off a heart. The waypoint system is a brilliant way to do away with mounts, but its cost is way too high. Waypoints were touted as an easy and convenient way to move around the game, except I feel I need to pop out a calculator each time I’m going to use one and figure out if I can afford the transit.

Not saying they should be free, but I’m also saying that lower level waypoints should cost lower amounts. If you want to encourage me to go back and play more in those zones it has to be worth the expenditure eh?

Is it my server or are people extremely silent?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gurpsmeister.9068

Map chat on my server is pretty much always going no matter what zone I’m in, sometimes to my chagrin. There are a few zones that I just can’t turn off chat fast enough! Sparkfly Fen is definitely one of them, I’m sokittentired of. WHEN IS DA DRAGUNS UP and WHERE IS DRAGUNS?

Otherwise for the most part it’s pretty good chat, some trollish behavior but not as much as I’d have suspected. When I party up there’s plenty of chat, but the local or /s chat is rarely seen on my window.

Why I think that crafting is broken

in Crafting

Posted by: Gurpsmeister.9068

Gurpsmeister.9068

Crafting is pretty easy right now. Once you establish a pattern of discovery you’ll sail thru the levels. I’ve also never farmed for materials, there were a few times where I bought one or 5 of something but never in excess (Except when I built a rare set of lvl 65 armor..and ouch..I regret it)

Honestly crafting is fine and fun, I just wish there was a profit in it. The game got it right in that what can be crafted is actually useful, but there’s still really not a big market for it over what drops from zone to zone. Maybe this changes later but so far, no money for me.

Racial Elites not worth the skill points?

in Asura

Posted by: Gurpsmeister.9068

Gurpsmeister.9068

Yeh I have to disagree here. I play an engineer and so far I’ve used every single one of the racials to some success. The poison field was fun, the pain inhibitor a riot, technobabble maybe less useful.

As far as the elites tho, 7-series and D-series golems have been huge lifesavers and tons of fun. The mecha suit is sadly underpowered but hey it’s a giggle.

Flamethrower only seems to miss for me when I’m doing a lot of side to side movement. Moving backwards or..for whatever reason, forwards I seem to do okay.

I think the flamethrower is intended as a stand still sort of device. Heck look at the traits for it, juggernaut is a prime example.
