Rabman: Really?! How did you do it? I’ve done some crafting on other characters, and it didn’t seem to give me that much exp. Do you have to spend a bunch of money on materials? What kind of crafting did you do?
I have a level 43 human elementalist and I really would like to get him to lvl 80 as fast as I can. So I was wondering: would it be faster to try and level up via crafting? Or does completing areas and doing dynamic events get you more experience faster?
Aba: I use Fire because I like the extra damage. It’s really nice, especially while I’m in the downed state, because it can still activate, and if I’m not being attacked by more than one person it can help my chances of surviving if I get downed.
Oh, I hadn’t looked at your post lol. How effective is the frost bow when you play? Is it good for 1v1?
Disclaimer: I didn’t come up with this idea, I saw it mentioned briefly and decided to expand on it. I don’t remember who it was though
There’s a lot of problems with the conjures for the ele. They have to trade in 20 skills for 5 skills that might not be that great that only last for a certain amount of charges that you have to take a master trait to increase the duration. I haven’t seen the conjures used as often as they probably should be used. The recent change to increase in stats helped, but I think there needs to be a different change. I was reading around in the forum and someone mentioned an idea that I think sounds plausible.
What if we combined all the conjures into one elite skill that allowed eles to switch attunements? So, if you started in Fire, you’d have the Flame Axe skills, but then if you switched to Air you’d get the Lightning Hammer’s skillset, and so on. It’d look something like this:
Skill: Elemental Warrior Recharge: 240
“Assume the form of the elemental warrior. Gain an elemental weapon based on attunement:
Fire-Flame Axe, 15 charges
Water-Frost Bow, 15 charges
Air- Lightning Hammer, 15 charges
Earth- Earth Shield, 15 charges
Putting the weapons together would make them a bit more viable, seeing as an ele wouldn’t have to give up 20 skills for 5 sort of ok skills. The skill could also give stability like other transformations, or give a small stat boost depending on which weapon is being used. With the fire trait that increases charges by 10 the skill could last longer, but that’s why I put in a longer recharge (I’m not too sure if 240 is too high or not, I just kind of picked a number). Then, the ele could get some new utilities to replace the conjures.
Let me know what you think. Does this idea sound doable? Is it too overpowered?
EDIT: I stand corrected on the use of conjures in pvp

Nonlinear: Thanks for the Dungeon Build idea, I’ll have to try it sometime.
I put up my builds that I have now up in my first post. These are just in PvP right now because my ele isn’t level 80 yet and because I don’t have enough munny’s to get all of the runes and stuff.
I went and made a test build and here it is:

I chose the staff because I like the range on it, especially in PvP. I put 20 in Arcana so I could get the area attack size increase with the staffs. Let me know what you think. This build could probably be switched to a fairly good D/D ele by switching an arcana trait as well.
I really like the elementalist (been playing it since BWE2) and now I’m thinking of trying a glass cannon build on my ele, but I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to more focused builds like glass cannons or tanks, so I’d like to see some examples of builds from some of the experienced ele users out there. It doesn’t matter if it’s for PvP, PvE, or WvW, but if you could specify which one you use your build for that’d be appreciated.
Thanks.
EDIT: Here’s my build that I have right now. I’d like to try and get a good D/D build in addition to this so I can switch between them. If it says “Bad Link”, then just copy and paste the link.

EDIT2: Here’s my D/D ele build that I’m gonna use for some PvP, and I’d like to see if somebody could give me a better build (traitwise or utilitywise), or give some advice on some different combos that you can do with a D/D ele.

I use berserker armor with superior soldier’s runes on them so I can have toughness+vitality and more condition removal on my shouts. In PvP I got 2903 Atk, 4% Crit Chance, 3372 Armor, and 29,612 Hp.
Here’s the build:

Full Soldier’s with Berserker.
The idea came from the Silentstorm’s Paladin 2.0 build. I’ve only tried this in PvP and I’ve been able to survive against thieves and mesmers fairly well. The thing I like about this is that with the discipline trait “Mighty Defenses”, I’ve been able to get 20 stacks of might so my damage doesn’t suffer as much, but I’m able to survive. The shouts really help when mesmers are trying to condition the crap out of you.
Basically I’m looking for advice on how to improve this build. I’d like to be more of a tanky/support character rather than a glass cannon.
Thanks.
EDIT: Updated the build with the second weapon set that I use for running around in PvP.

EDIT: I’m looking for ideas for a Rifle Warrior build. I’d like to make mine be viable in WvW and Pve.
