Where's the underwater section?

What we need is an underwater city/island akin to Atlantis. And equipped with a giant bubble protecting those inside it from the water. I’m thinking more for the scenery. With large whales towering above you, etc. As for underwater combat…no thanks.

Oh I know, but that’s just more keys people need to worry about. Merely turning left and right is worthless, imo. And most people are used to the WASD setup.

Kagamiku

Make sure your A and D keys are set to “strafe left and strafe right” the default has them set to “turn left and turn right”

If you mean that, I was stating that the default has A and D set to “turn left and turn right” I never mentioned what the default for strafe left and right was.

There wont be any hyperinflation. Slight inflation, yes, but it will slowly revert back to normal levels after this living story event is over.

Let’s face it. There are some minor issues such as lag, the dome not allowing your screen to pan out, and the occasional RNG of orbs pulling you just as shadow fall is about to drop on the orb. Although, the orbs pulling you can be avoided by knowing the location of the orb and killing it before it can pull…But it’s not something skill can account for at least until you’ve memorized the locations.

Having said that, they are exactly as I said they are — minor — Liadri is very beatable, bugs or no bugs. The bugs make it a little more difficult than it should be. That’s it. It does not stop any one from beating her.

On a completely unrelated note. Make sure your A and D keys are set to “strafe left and strafe right” the default has them set to “turn left and turn right” and this makes strafing a great deal harder, because you can only strafe by holding your mouse and A or D key down that way. Setting the keys to do that automatically will strafe you simply by pressing A or D.

A high rotation camera speed helps as well.

Any point doing gauntlet with a sub-80 toon?

You still have two weeks until the gauntlet is over.

With that being said, it is possible to do some of them with an underleveled toon. Subject 7 would probably be where you can’t advance any more because of his healing capabilities.

I know what an achievement is. It’s right clicking a bunch of dead bodies until they get all their green stuff back. It’s leveling all the professions via the Trading Post. It’s clicking the supply depot, and right clicking ‘just the right spot’ on a wall a whole bunch of times. These achievements even give titles, ooh, ahh. Such skill required for these achievements.

I don’t have any issue with them nerfing the content, or keeping the content the same really. I think it’s hilarious people pretend any of this content is hard. You know what hard content is? What a true achievement would be? Every single time you die on any attempt through any tier, you go back to the first boss on the first tier.

The rest of this prattle is just a whole bunch of, “Let’s pretend this is a challenge so we can act like it’s accomplished!” Big fish little pond syndrome, imo. Time to go out into the ocean.

You listed the grindy/any one can do achievements, yes. That doesn’t mean every achievement in GW is grindy and can be done by everyone. There exists a Puzzle section. or the explorer section, or any of the dungeon achievements, or the fractal achievements, or some of the living story achievements. True a lot of them are not hard, others are quite difficult, and some of them, bring about these kind of threads. And that’s just how it should be. There are many levels of difficulty with achievements. Not everyone will be, or should be able to achieve them all.

On that note, I don’t think any one would disagree the “light up the Darkness” achievement isn’t hard. It’s just more manageable than most people claim it is.

As for what I bolded. That’s not hard, that’s hardcore. You don’t need hardcore mode in order to make achieving something difficult. And I would be more confident in achieving this than I would be doing the Light up the Darkness achievement a second time.

I’ll do it for you for free. Just have to trust that I wont tamper with your account, though. And I’m hoping you’re at least running full exotic gear.

This thread…whiners everywhere.

And some of the logic you guys use to justify why the content should be nerfed boggles the mind. Do people not know what an achievement is anymore? You don’t nerf something simply because the majority of people can’t do it. It’s an achievement, not a requirement. If all achievements were doable by everyone with minimal effort then whats the kitten point of even having achievements?

So I threw 8 orbs onto Liadri for the third time in all my 100+- attempts, and so I got out of time 10 seconds after that as always. I lost about 20g on this. I consider myself hardcore player, but this is just insane, it IS ONLY about luck, nothing more, if you miss 1-2 orbs you dont have enough time to kill her. And if you wear wrong armor, you have spend many gold on another exotic set. GG Anet

And yet not missing any orbs requires skill. You can have the most Godly luck and still fail to do that achievement, if you lack the skill or practice. I won’t say it is entirely devoid of luck but it requires more skill than luck. It is extremely tough and I doubt any one out there could complete it two times in a row, but it takes skill to finally beat it. Even if the luck factor plays some kind of a role.

No they’re not. The very definition of achievement explicitly states that achievements are not for everyone. Unless everyone is equally as skilled and capable of obtaining said achievement. And they’re not.

I will not last two weeks. Even if my sanity could hold out, I’ve got 2g 31s left. That’s after hawking all my ectos and anything else circumstance has opted me to sell to stay in the match. I’m drowning here.

Actually, currently, you only need to hit Liadri with 7 orbs to get the achievment. The tooltip is wrong. Not sure if it was intended to be 8 or 7, but all you need is 7.

I feel like I’m playing Mcdonalds Monopoly with these kittening Queens Champions. I’ve literally been to over 100 balloons and have yet to meet “Champion of the Whirling Edge.” Is he like the Queens version of Boardwalk or something? Meanwhile, I’ve met “Champion of the Blazing gun” a kittening five times in a row.

Is anyone else out there facing my dilemma?

Sword and Shield is good because if you find yourself in a sticky situation you can just leap away or use shield to block anything Liadri throws at you. They’re not used to attack, so you can just buy rares for them, or whatever.

Do you have the A and D keys set to strafe left and right in your control options? Also set your #1 skill to auto attack and then target liadri. This way you can just strafe around and not have to worry about dealing with your attack keys. Hitting #3 occasionally to fire volley will make the encounter quicker, though.

Try this build:

10 in strength for restorative strength (II) — Great when both your cripple and weakness conditions need to be removed.

25 in arms for furious speed (II) and crack shot (VII). Furious speed is great because it is capable of giving you perma swiftness when combined with signet of rage, allowing you to better move around the dome. Crack shot because Rifle is the bread and butter of your damage dealing. The minor trait “Attack of Opportunity” is also great for that extra 10% damage.

25 in defense for Shield Master (I) and Dogged March (II). The reduced cooldown on block is great and cripple is a serious condition that needs to be removed asap, so dogged march is another good trait. The minor trait “armored attack” is there because we fully specced into the strength line and it gives a relatively good boost to power. Plus there was 5 remaining points that needed to be spent on some minor trait.

0 in tactics….Moving along…

10 in disicpline for either Warriors Sprint (III) or Signet Mastery (VI). I personally went with warriors sprint because while using your rifle you will have near permanent swiftness anyways. The sword/shield is what needs the speed boost.

As for slotted skills: Healing Signet, Berserker’s Stance, Endure Pain, Signet of Stamina.

Try to only use berserkers stance and endure pain when you’re pulled by one of the orbs and need to get up, quick. Endure Pain doesn’t protect you from Liadri’s illusions so it’s only really good against the dark stuff she drops on your head.

On another note, superior sigil of energy is great for this battle since it gives you more of what you need most — dodge roles. They’re a bit pricey though, but if you can afford them, it really does make this fight easier.

This is the build I used for the “Light up the Darkness” achievement. So this build is probably a lot more defensive than it needs to be, but Liadri’s health goes down relatively quick when you focus her so you don’t need to go full glass cannon to drop her before the time limit.

As for gear stats…A mix between zerker and PTV is probably best but you could do it with almost any combination. I probably wouldnt go full zerker because you’ll have plenty of time to kill her and a bit of extra vitality and toughness can go a long way in this fight. Although if done right, Liadri should rarely be within attack range of you.

I really feel that leveling a character to 80 and then attempting to kill Liadri with that character is severly time consuming and not even guaranteed. So I would try everything before resorting to that. But that’s just me.

That’s because warriors were taking advantage of a buggy aggro mechanic by standing at the edge of the arena and waiting for his first teleport. Zero risk, zero skill, tons of reward. That deserved a fix, full stop.

Also you still should be able to do 3 gambits on a warrior just fine. But you know, skill and all.

The guardians and thieves were just as mindlessly easy to kill deadeye with pre-patch as a warrior was. Don’t kid yourself. It’s just so terribly hard to activate tripwire prior laying the smackdown on deadeye. Or hitting f1 and porting right over to him. Takes some real skill there. The only difference is that post-patch, It’s still a cakewalk with both thieves and guardians; while warriors have to work for the kill. The warrior used this mechanic in the first place because they have no reflect (shield doesn’t even work on killshot…) like a guardian, or insane gap closer like a thief.

And yes, post-patch, I’m using a thief to farm deadeye.

I will probably get monkey stomped for this, but I’m stuck at 15 of 16 Queen’s Jubilee Completionist.. I tried doing the regular daily ones got 5/5 but that didnt move me to 16.. What dailies are reset that you can do over? I did the balloon ones over again and even ones that I didnt do the first time and still nothing.. What am I doing wrong?

The only dailies that work towards the achievement are the ones that have a different icon to the left of them. It looks like a yellow star. The one for today is “Queens Gauntlet Challenger.” SO just defeat a boss in the gauntlet and you should be set.

A warrior is plenty good enough to complete all of the Gauntlet achievements.

Rifle/Sword and Shield.

Light up the Darkness achievement I’d say you need a particular build accomplish it, but just to kill Liadri, all you really need to do is get to phase 2 and then strafe around the dome. The pattern is the same every time and as long as you keep a certain speed, you will never be out of a safe zone. Just use healing signet and pick up restorative strength in the strength line. Lemongrass + Melandru runes obviously helps a ton. Also pick up signet of stamina for more dodge roles.

Is farming gauntlet bosses an exploit?

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: Kagamiku.9731

Kagamiku.9731

I don’t see how it’s an exploit. You’re defeating them using your own skill. It’s not the players fault that they’re easily farmed using the right specs and setup. The staff have tried to remedy the issue but failed to change much. I suspect it will get nerfed again sometime in the future, but it’s certainly not an exploit.

To me, accomplishing achievments is a lot fo what makes Guild Wars fun. This is mostly why I enjoy the living story (although I wish it wasn’t so time limited) because I am constantly greeted with more and more achievements. Some are a bit grindy, but the thought of reaching 100% completion on all living story events makes the grind worth it. To me, anyways.

The farming…well, It’s hard to pass up when it’s an easy gateway to having some of the TP/Gem store items you’ve always dreamed of.

Kagamiku.9731

This was by no means easy for me and downright infuriating at times, but I managed after repeated effort.

Screencap of my traits/skills.
http://www.imagebam.com/image/6bcbf9269801572

As for armor, everything was zerker with ruby orbs, outside of my amulet which was PTV. Superior SIgil of Energy on one or both of your weapon sets will help a great deal as well.

This build may not be optimal but it is viable. It’s also important to note that Fast Hands in the discipline trait line is glitched during the Liadri fight and it does more harm than good.

A few pointers that may help —

1.) If Liadri starts spinning next to you just bash her with your shield and she’ll come to an untimely hault.

2.) Focus on damaging her while kiting the minions into the white vortex. You don’t need to be in a safe zone a lot of the time because with this build you have a ton of endurance regeneration and a few get out of jail free cards. The shield in particular is amazing and is a good way to clear some of her minions off the map, as they will just walk into the shield and die. Unfortunately, endure pain isn’t so hot since it doesn’t do a kitten thing against her minions, but it does save you from her spinning attack and the black rain of death.

3.) Only use balanced stance if a vortex pulls you into a messy situation. And never use Signet of Stamina. That is to give you faster endurance regeneration and nothing more. I specced into strenght tree solely for restorative strength. So your heal will cure you of all of her condition damage. And the Lemongrass + doggedmarch helps as well.

4.) Only use your rifle to damage her. The sword is for maneuverability and the shield is to bash her when she spins plus block pretty much everything she can throw at you. Try to keep a distance from her, and only close in when you need to pick up a crystal to throw at her.

Well, this may mostly seem obvious, but I hope I heleped some of you. Sorry I don’t have a recording…
