I agree the Mega server is nice, to see others, but I’ve still ran around empty zones. And I’m not talking about the obscure ones that were completely empty before, but the 15-25 zones. Those emptier zones really hurt with the trait issue, not to mention many of the professions have movement increases locked behind their traits, again adding to the grindy feel because I can’t even move as quickly from poi to vista.

You don’t even get one for each map anymore, I’ve been getting keys for the last six I cleared instead of charges.

Still get 1 for each city zone, and I guess 5 is more than enough if you want to suffer the newly extended chore to get to 80 with the trait debacle.

The New Trait System

Kentaine.4692

It was a nice attempt to spice up the game, I’ll admit, by adding in new traits and making them unlocked by killing bosses. It has issues though:

First, 1 trait point per 6 levels (2 later on) and not starting till level 30 really makes all of my non 80s feel un-heroic. This on top of turning into Trahearne’s puppet sorta gets rid of the ’I’m the Hero of a story’ feel that is the center of every fantasy game in the world… unless I’m unaware of one where you’re a peasant farming and the only way you know an adventure is taking place is when a knight is sent off on a quest and when he comes back with the princess without knowing what happened in between because you had to stay on your farm.

Second, tying the new traits to world/group events. Major issues will turn up when A. all the hard core players get all their traits in the next few days and B. the casual players finally make their way to the zones to earn them and find them as barren as any zone except Queensdale and Frostgorge pre-update. One time payouts are not a way to bring players to harder events and keep them coming back.

Third, the cost to ‘just’ buy them is out of reach of most casual players. The gold is hard enough for new comers and the SP is just ridiculous following the nerf to the champion train in Frostgorge (which, by the way, didn’t do anything to stop the one in Queensdale where the most annoying train participants- you know those ones who think you can only kill a champion if you’re in the train- exist). Instead all its done is taken a massive source of T5- think its T5- crafting materials out of the game, which will slowly drive up their prices, which I guess is as intended but did not fix the real issue most people have with the train play style.

I can see some easy-ish fixes.

Bring back the trait unlock at level 10, and have 1 per level again but keep it so you can shuffle them to your hearts content like you can now. Keep the traits tied to specific monster kills, but make them into the non-event champions which were turning into Elites spread out around the world. This keeps the idea to drive players out into the world you created, but also lets them- with any luck- able to get their trait either solo or at the least with a single friend. If you purchase them, no more than 1-3 gold and 3-6 SP per, it isn’t like you’re unlocking Elite skills after all. Keeping them unlocked per instead of account wide would promote the gold sink since it wouldn’t be such a grind since that’s exactly what it is requiring 10 SP (that’s either 10 levels or 10 places of power, doable if you really want to but unnecessarily high and extremely boring for alt-ers).

Of course, way I see it, the past few releases have been designed to drive players to PvP- which has many flaws in itself from the bigger stack of players in WvW winning and balance issues between classes for smaller scale skirmishes- so much for play as you want.

I am a big fan of the wardrobe, however, and if the update had just been that it would have been enough for me as a casual player since I’ll never bother with legendary weapons or ascended armor- that’s just too much of a grind. The new trait system, however, seems to have turned enjoyable gameplay for a casual player to a grind as well.

Why do PvE - players complain...

To the original poster:

PvEers complain because in every… single… game where PvP is crossed over with PvE in any way the minority of jerks who PvP harass the majority of PvEers. We hate it, and those bullies- which is all they are in every sense of the juvenile term- drive us away from games which should have other wise been a release from real life stresses.

PvP and PvE should be completely separate in all aspects. Separate achievements, separate requirements for endgame gear, everything. The only way they should over lap is by allowing any character to participate in either gameplay style if they so choose. As it is now, this event grants way too many opportunities for the kitten PvPers to harass PvEers just because they can.

Wow… what a weird stance for Anet to take. I’ve always felt like failure was a failure in the past. Every time scarlet invaded I felt like it was a failure because by the time I got to it the achievers had already started farming them. And the only reason they farmed them was for the chests, not the blues and greens. Getting blues and greens has never felt like a win to me, it just helped offset the failure.

Easy, those who don’t have 300% magic find, blues and greens make great essences. Whites make great materials. I don’t understand why new PvE content isn’t supporting all aspects of PvE. Didn’t say they needed to drop greys, they already do (rarely).

It pops up every 2 hours… have to wait in the zone though since if you leave you won’t be notified it’s happening soon and you won’t be able to get into the same zone as your team mate who doesn’t mind just standing around while you go explore a zone you haven’t yet.

Be prepared to fail too, and just so you know the robot instant kills you if you do fail and damages your armor. Oh, and the trash (vet/elite/champ included) don’t drop anything other than tokens you combine to make something and junk (grey). That’s right, no chests/blues/greens/whites/yellows/oranges for any of the effort you put in. Well, that isn’t entirely true. You get on green for failing.

I lost count of the number of champions and elite mobs I had to kill and I have nothing to show for it.

Seriously unless it is story driven, content without reward is effectively pointless, not a good design choice with Arena Net. I thought they would have learned from Tequatil instead they took all the bad aspects and made them worse.

Calling it now, in two months the zone will be essentially a ghost town on almost every server.

I feel the same way after doing the robot, and that one is story driven. Perhaps I’m just as annoyed that the trash doesn’t drop as you guys are about the wurm because Scarlet has been nothing but one, overly drawn out frustrating disappointment. I’m afraid the Marionette will be a ghost town after three days. Everyone who has the time to waste waiting 2 hours per spawn will get the achievements and everyone who doesn’t will be left with only frustration… especially since the marionette event is BLOCKING a vista.

After playing GW1 a bit over the weekend… I kinda actually think GW1 was better.

Spawntimer Marionette too long?

Kentaine.4692

I think 2 hours is fine for a boss. Otherwise it becomes trivial and farmable (and people would just camp permanantly and block others getting in to that server). WHat it needs is in between activities/events either leading up to it or in the aftermath (depending on win/loss) to keep people occupied. Even if it means taking players to other zones.

You made me laugh… farmable. What is there to farm? Aetherblade pieces? I know, Molten Alliance pieces. The champs DO NOT drop even a blue or green when you kill them. There is nothing worth farming in these events. And I agree waiting 2 hours for the robot is insane, it is only temporary. I waited way too long for it, and won’t ever again. The only loot, after killing a slew of minons/vets/champs I had was maybe 40 of various combine pieces a few junk items and one green for when the event failed.

What are the reward drops for bosses?

in The Origins of Madness

Posted by: Kentaine.4692

Kentaine.4692

Nice they added hard core content, but frankly the only reason why ANYONE plays an MMO is for the instant gratification that is the reward for their effort.

So far, I’m not impressed. The chests that drop for the event don’t have silver in them, only one green item, and a bag full of useless tokens that combine for some mysterious purpose no one has figured out yet that I have heard.

Hard content should have equally good rewards, GW2 cannot get the idea that risk vs reward is what’s making the game such a let down since they started upping the difficulty. They make insane events you stand around two hours for only to get wiped and the trash doesn’t even drop anything worth selling because its account bound. Idiotic.

But yes, to the original poster, you’re wasting your time. There’s a SLIM chance for an ascended armor from the Jungle Wurm, but other than that it’s all greens and blues. Haven’t tried the wurm, but the robot’s trash don’t even drop blues and greens. Even the CHAMPIONS for the robot don’t drop blues and greens let alone a chest like they have in previous events.

Hopefully it’s the first update of the year (21st) that has the big ‘surprise’ but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

I agree with one point the OP made.

Give full coverage, FLATTERING, armor as an option. I miss warrior Canthan Elite from GW1, full coverage AND designed around my body instead of a steel tube. What I was hoping for my guardian, but decided I didn’t like any of the full coverage heavy. But I do lean towards the skimpy side, and Medium is SEVERELY lacking for humans, they only have T3 and the exotic ninja-esque.

I guess the other gripe is that to transmute level 80 armor, you basically NEED gems to do it. I think the regular trans stones should have been able to do this, then I wouldn’t have 250 for no reason other than to destroy every time I get a stack.

Yes, the ranger is in tune with nature. That’s why he has a pet. But the first paragraph of their description says they’re UNPARALLELED archers, so yes ranged weaponry is their forte.

BUT the devs are working on getting all weapons to everyone, hopefully, so this discussion is pointless. No one here is discussing why they’re called rangers. We’re asking why they can’t use guns.

We all understand they’re called rangers because they’re, essentially, like a forest ranger. That’s why they have a PET. They wouldn’t have a PET if they were called archer, marksman, or sniper. The rifles have NOTHING to do with why they’re called a ranger. The PET has everything to do with why they’re called Ranger. We aren’t incompetent. It’d just be nice to see some weapon proliferation, especially to the professions we think are lacking it.

Personally I’d like to see:

Ranger – rifle
Warrior – nothing really, except maybe dagger off hand
Elementalist – sword
Mesmer – rifle (or something with AoE)
Guardian – warhorn
Necromancer – pistol (or something with AoE)
Thief – axe

I haven’t really played an engineer to wish I could use something different.

It does clear it up, they’re unparalleled archers which is why they can’t use pistols and rifles. Not unparalleled marksmen. I don’t care if I can see my weapons before I log in or not. Though, it would be nice if I could pick my weapon at creation.

All armor above rare, and possibly some exotic, is ‘showing off’. No other reason, and if you want armor for showing off only then any design past that will do. The other back pieces are worn beneath the armor and you couldn’t see them anyway.

which has less to do with weapons, but still has to do with war and would have incorporated guns once the charr invented them.

But yeah, that is correct that they’re working on getting every class using every weapon (hard to see since the last two skills released were healing).

lock gold->gems for dungeon runners

in Suggestions

Kentaine.4692

I don’t understand what you’re asking? How would this make me want to run dungeons?

Either you’re saying that they shouldn’t be allowed to exchange their gold into gems, which would make me NEVER run dungeons since this is the only way I’m going to get gems now. OR you’re saying that the exchange rate should not deviate for dungeon runners which gives an unfair advantage (unless it is locked in at a higher rate) over the other players… that again would make me never want to be a dungeon runner as it would be unfair to the other people.

Also, they can’t target Dungeon Runners because dungeon runners is not a class, it’s a play style. No different from champ farmers, role players, PvPers, and PvEers. If you’re saying they should have locked in exchange rates at a lower than market amount, then you’d better have an idea for something equally as beneficial for each of the other play styles.

As it is, dungeon runners are already unfair to a lot of the classes. Especially since, even though I’m the level for the dungeon, they kick me because I’m not 80 or the class they want without specifying what they’re looking for. What they should do with dungeons is make you clear each zone before progressing to the next but have a massive reward at the end (maybe five or ten gold) to make going slow worth it and get rid of the paths. Make them clear the WHOLE thing to get that ten gold.

If you’re going to use real world arguments why rangers shouldn’t use bows, then yes. I’m saying they should only be able to use daggers, pistols, rifles, and maybe hatchets. The rest is too bulky to carry around to patrol certain areas.

But since this ISN’T the real world, no. I’m not. I’d just like someone to point at the specific GUILD WARS lore that prevents them from utilizing new technologies. Maybe it was a pact across the rangers of the world to never use weapons that may disturb the sounds of nature (gunshots do this if you listen before and after in a forest). Or maybe rangers just hate the industrialization of the Charr (the Charr rangers would be the minority of their race) and wished they’d go back to more primitive roots (maybe without the Flame Legion though).

As it stands, saying they can’t use rifles because of LORE just makes no sense.

To be honest though, watching the trailers for WoW, I never expected it to look that crappy or have those ridiculous armor styles. It literally looked like they took the models of their Warcraft III creatures and blew them up to RPG sizes, their trailers had models more like the ones GW1 was able to produce with lower system requirements.

I understand that (even if I think the best skills for Rangers in GW2 ARE the longbow and shortbow- except for seldom occasions with reflectors), but that still doesn’t explain why they can’t use rifles/pistols.

If anything rifles and pistols would make patrolling a given area easier since- if you’re going to go by real world reasons- rifles and pistols, well rifles typically, are more accurate than bows and shoot farther than bows. We aren’t saying they can’t have a pet, or to get rid of the pet, we’re wondering why they can’t use rifles (at least) and pistols.

Rangers in history evolved with weaponry. Using melee weapons and bows, then when gun powder was invented they picked up rifles and actually discarded the bows. They got rid of swords at that time too in favor of daggers and pistols. Bows and swords were just too bulky to carry around once rifles and pistols came along.

If they make it a gemstore thing, okay, but I don’t really see the need to do this except for legendary and ascended gear. Exotic/Masterwork/Rares are, for the most part, cheap enough to just replace. If you want the design of one of the 150g ones, maybe you can find a different design you like. There’s the orders, each race, and also various other karma ones you might consider that no one thinks about. Not to mention all the dungeon ones which take about 2-3 days to earn.

I never understood this either. If warriors can use ALL of the melee weapons (except daggers and torches) why can’t the rangers use ALL of the ranged weapons (except maybe staff/trident/scepter since those are magical and rangers are physical).

What GW lore established rangers don’t use guns? Just curious? If it’s GW1 then warriors shouldn’t be able to use rifles either… not only that but they should also be allowed to use foci, staves, and scepters (since GW1 warriors ‘could’ equip them).

I’d just like to know what ‘lore’ excluded rangers from using a, newly developed, ranged weapon.

There were ‘some’ floating relics (such as elemental foci as an off hand) in GW1 and would be cool to see again, but there were hardly any massive shoulders (a disgusting and even more impractical design than revealing armor since at least some historical fighters- gladiators- did fight in very little). In fact it was the biggest reason why I hated Luxon armors, it screamed WoW with how bulky and unattractive it was. I always went Kurzick on my warriors even though I preferred the environment of the Luxons because I wanted Kurzick armor. Luxon ele armor was awesome though… would LOVE to see that back in game.

If there were large shoulder pads it was usually asymmetrical (sorta like jousting armor) in the other GW1 armors but never to the extent of what WoW has. Dangling chains never existed in GW1 that I can recall. I would like to see more cloth hanging from armor like the human T3 heavy as apposed to rigid skirts of scale plating like most of the armor right now.

Escapist the people who played GW1 didn’t play WoW because they didn’t like the armor designs, graphics, or the maturity of the community. That, and the monthly fee. Also, don’t worry, the armors are probably going to go towards that design (judging from the juvenile design of the legendary weapons), give it another year. You’ll probably have your shoulder pads that glow bright yellow with floating books, sparkles, a skyscraper’s amount of metal and chains that dangle and clang to annoy you as you fight. When they release ‘legendary’ armor, I’ll be pleasantly shocked if this doesn’t happen.

I have to agree about the orr armor (mostly). The skirt coupled with the nightmare top on my necromancer looks good (if I ever get around to earning it). As for the heavy design… it would be better if they got rid of the butt cape on the legs that flares out like your hero used way too much starch to wash it then dipped it in a resin to keep it that shape. Also, eventually, the flame light armor will come back. I’m kinda more annoyed that ALL three were just redone designs of armor we already had. They should have all had their own, brand new, designs. Not repeats with flame auras added.

The cultural armors should stay the way they are too, they are the ONLY sets that are exclusive. 15 sets out of about 150 isn’t being unfair. If you really like the human design so much, then play a human it looks best on them too because it was designed for them.

I agree reduce the number of servers (keep PvPers, PvEers, and RPers separate. They bicker enough already without them intruding on each others’ play styles. That would very quickly kill the game, especially since you’re arguing against the co-op style).

The rest of your post sounds like you want GW2 to completely start over, or rather have the players make the game entirely. And GW2 doesn’t ‘need’ to become a war against two factions, I don’t want to play World of Warcraft or Star Wars: the Old Republic (WoW with lightsabers). I’ve tried them and hated them both, WoW because it NEVER looked good and SWtOR because it really is just WoW with lightsabers. It’s about time an MMO went the route of the factions being co-operative first and foremost. If anything GW2 ‘needs’ to focus back on the original- and ongoing- conflict in Tyria of the Elder Dragons.

See what I meant about bickering. I disagree with you. I’m sure you prefer PvP while I prefer PvE and possibly RP (never tried RP, but I’ve tried PvP).

Again, swapping species won’t work because of the bound cultural/order armor.

I’d rather see them give real XP boosts to those who have 80s so they can level faster than let you bounce around your 80 to each race.

I’d rather not the flash too. I was looking at the Greatswords (why are there so many of them and only one sword?) and was, again, disappointed with the designs GW2 seems to be going.

There’s plenty of other swords in the exotics/rare/masterwork that look WAY better. The aureate weapons are just simply some of the most beautiful (not to mention the lionguard or ebonhawk that very few people probably know about). I even prefer the AC greatsword that turns into spectral at night to how the ‘legendary’ ones look.

I never wanted the Cloud’s greatsword style anyway. Keep it a simple claymore from Norse designs and light it on fire and I’ll think it’s way cooler than a blade wider than my character that’s see through (Unfortunately Cobalt is blah to me, it’s a solid color when it really didn’t need to be).

Or, just make it alt friendly again. No more 1 million pieces of linen to make the next level of armor that isn’t actually needed for any reason other than you guys making it harder to satisfy those who say it’s too easy. It’s a cyclical issue. I stand by the assessment that more people quit a game because it’s too hard/complicated than because it’s too easy.

Of course, it is satisfying to complete a hard/complicated game. I remember the first time I beat a game (Jedi Outcast) without cheating/modding (I was 10ish), next was Need for Speed Underground, then Morrowind. I’ve never felt that same sense of accomplishment in an MMO when I’ve crafted a hard to obtain item though. In the end it was just another piece of armor that was only going to be replaced by the next, even harder to obtain, set to come out and I stopped caring. The arms race of armor/weapons should only exist for PvPers (not to be mean or anything, but they know that if they could get better PvP armor they’d all hop on board and then eagerly wait for the next stuff), it doesn’t do much other than annoy PvEers to no end when they have to spend half their time grinding for mats to make a piece of armor that doesn’t apply any noticeable benefit to killing NPCs.

[Merged] Think "Mounts" outside the box!

Kentaine.4692

I like the idea of mounts, but not in Guildwars. Mounts DO NOT fit in the lore of guild wars. There are no horses, AT ALL, I’ve looked throughout dozens of zones in GW1 trying to find even a hint of something that could be considered a mount. Dolyak is it, and those go slower than your character. If you want to ride a dolyak, fine put in mounts, but it better give a -25% to your speed at least to fit with their design.

The waypoints are the entire reason why GW does not need mounts. You can TELEPORT where ever you want to go if you’ve been there already.

The only way I’d like mounts is if, unlike most other MMOs, they could be used in battle… effectively.

But again, I could care less about them since the lore doesn’t support it. Drakes are pets, the big cats aren’t big enough (Except for asura… that might be funny to see actually, an Asura riding one of Melandru’s stalkers), and anything that IS big enough (other than dolyaks) is aggressive towards humanoids to the point that they aren’t tamable.

Or, once your account already has an eighty, I might like a permanent XP boost of 50% (on everything, not just monsters since xp from kills is minmal). If not that, then I like the 100% ‘rested’ xp idea.

I do agree though that it feels like a terrible grind to 80, even though each level is about an hours worth of play. I guess that’s because I design my characters 80 gear to look the way I want at around level 20 but don’t bother transmoging any lower armor because it’s a waste of rare/exotic/dungeon skins.

As it is, though, it isn’t too bad. Since it released last year I’ve leveled five 80s and that was even with a several month hiatus from the game.

The sink needs to be there, and they need to find other ways to create a sink.

The problem with MMOs is that their money is randomly generated every second, sorta like a government printing more money to try to fix economic issues. All it leads to, eventually, is gross inflation.

For example, seven years ago another MMO’s stack of copper was about 1-5 silver, last time I played it was 30 to 60 gold. Only reason for that is there was no real gold sink, and its the same with every MMO with a market. GW1 didn’t have this problem as much because if you couldn’t farm the materials to make your armor you could buy them directly from NPCs, not other players, which was a tremendous gold sink.

This is why I think Hairstyling and armor transmogging should not be gem store items but rather in game features that cost more money depending on your level. Level 2, 1 silver for hair styling and 2.5 for each armor/weapon. Level 80 5 gold for hair, 12.5g for each armor/weapon.

If you want a ‘return’ on what you put into the trading post, then sell all of the materials you get that you no longer need.

Do the personal story to about 30, you’ll get one.

I do, however, agree with the ridiculous costs of the game. ANet seems to have gotten extremely greedy since my days in GW1. I kinda hate the living world updates and wish they’d go back to an expansion per year. In fact, cut out the entire gem store and go back to an expansion per year. I’m sick of these F2P cash gouging models and am about to give up on buying anything (except maybe a pick/scicle that’s unlimited) because the majority of it is pointless.

GW2 should stop making higher tier armor, exotics were fine and required a lot of farming anyway. I’m never going to bother with ascended gear (other than some back pieces because I want a quiver on my warrior/ranger) because 1: it takes exponentially more materials than exotics (which required exponentially more than the regular) and 2: it all looks terrible to me.

Sad thing is GW2 has turned into a the worst grindfest of any MMO I’ve played and it didn’t take long at all for that to happen.

Just release new skins for the old armor qualities that don’t cost gems (usually real money) to get and don’t require a full time job on the game. I remember GW1 used to remind you to take a break every three hours and told you every hour you’d been playing for (partly to get people away from their computers). GW2 decided it’d ignore that good idea.

As nice as I think this could be (stop messing/breaking PvE skills to try to balance PvP skills) I can’t see it working well either.

In a prior game I played (may it rest in peace) they separated the two to try to prevent them from complaining. It workd, the PvEers stopped but the PvPers still complained about balancing issues. Eventually the developers gave up on the PvP (after screwing over the NPC populated zones by making the NPCs ridiculously harder than their PvE counterparts as a side effect of altering the skills for PvP only use).

The problem with PvP is that balancing 8 different classes is impossible, the only way it would work is if you neutered all of them and still they wouldn’t be equal just because they do different things and wear different armor. It’s like comparing apples to oranges.

This is also one of the reasons why I’d like to see a 3rd heavy user now so it can be nerfed and boosted in an attempt to balance it with all of the others instead of two or three years down the line when PvP is, hopefully, more equal. Adding another in then would just throw a wrench into the whole system.

Add vanquishing and hardmode

All dungeons should be vanquishes, if I’m going to do a dungeon I want to get as much loot as possible and not run through half the map like most of the PuG groups do. That being said, I don’t mean require it (since I know some fights are just insanely more difficult than others and some groups are forced to skip) but have a substantial reward if you do kill everything… like 10x the gold pay out or 20-50 rare materials with 50-100 common as well.

Open world vanquishing/hard mode can’t (or won’t) be done for the non-instanced design of the game.

I like the idea of merging the bags, but that won’t solve the issue where they aren’t worth the cost. Selling back to a merchant would probably be 1/2 the cost of the rune (maybe 2/3) to make it. And unlike the other 15 slot bags (easy enough to make already) you wouldn’t be able to sell to the populace that way. As it is, they can be sold to merchants already.

What they could do is make the colors stack in your inventory (like they do if you sell non stacking things on the market). Then you could collect stacks of 250 and sell for 6 9 silver.

I’m guessing he means one for non-PvP, but- as much as I would like that to get past the tedious levels of slower professions- I don’t think they should. The reason why the tome exists is so the PvPers can actually level their characters since their XP bar goes towards rankings not markers.

1. Change the human female running animation back to how it was for the first 14+ months of the game.
2. Make running animation a character attribute, like hair style or eye color.
3. Put the new running out as a variant to select at character creation, for those (few? I never saw a “T3 Cultural Armor” sized outrage thread at how we were running for 14 months, or a developer blog, or patch note discussing why it had to be changed) who don’t like the way running was for the first 14 months.
4. Total makeover kits can be used to change your running animation.
5. Dream up new running animations for all the other classes as options, with some only available I the gem store. Profit.

They changed the running animation? When did this happen? According to you it was two months ago? I played at the start, took several months off, but then started again more than two months ago and didn’t notice a change. If anything I think they should change how females hold the greatsword/hammer. I always thought them holding it down like that made them look weaker than their male counterparts, but that may just be my opinion.

I do agree it’d be a cool addition to their customization, but not likely to be implemented.

Bought keys to waste money...

I agree with this.

After spending gems on some chests (about 30 opened) I decided I’d just delete my remaining 50 chests and delete all the new ones I get. They fill up my bank with tonics (actually I’ve been deleting those since day one) and boosts (though useful, they would be more useful if I could put them in a side bar and not have to waste bag space on them). Not to mention the black lion salvage tickets pieces (not the actual thing, I’ve only gotten 12 out of maybe 100 total chests opened).

To me the chests are just a complete waste of gold or gems and time. I’d be fine if they were removed completely and just let us buy the Black Lion skins for weapons directly (preferably multi-use like the zenith) if we really want them. The value of the chests are shown by the trading post, 3 copper if you’re lucky. Worthless. So what if they ‘could’ drop a perma hair stylist, I don’t want to waste the money (since even collecting the gold takes time) on opening 1000 of them.

If they keep them, I agree they should have something (100% of the time) that is actually beneficial to your account. (hair stylist contract, make over kits, expansion slots, etc…) Not useless things (revive orbs, there’s too many waypoints for me not to just port; boosts, already covered with banners/foods; repair tool, again it’s more convenient to just pay the 6 silver or whatever) That or make the keyes 100 for 100 gems so their gem cost is more in line with the chest’s gold cost.

I remember when I started playing (the first week) the key drop rate was closer to 33%. I would also think they were worth it if that were the case today.

I don’t see the point to this. Zergs are chest runs, just with forced fighting.

I never liked the chest runs in GW1 either, I’d get better things off trash mobs by just playing. I got my gold, max (at the time) eternal shield that way and my max (at the time) gold flamberge (the massive dark style). I still have both of those come to think of it.

I do agree they need a real gold sink, but I think an in game hairstylist or cough town clothes would be a better place to start. What I mean by ‘real’ is that you get nothing back for what you buy with the gold. 50% back makes little sense.

If you’re ‘crowded’ on FC, come to Sanctum of Rall. It’s pretty much a ghost town everywhere except LA, Frostgorge, and Queensdale.

I agree that they could probably cut back on the servers.

Um, the drop rate for those bags is NOT higher in Queensdale than the other zones.

All champs in all of the starter zones (at least that are part of an event) WILL drop one of those bags every single time. The only reason why you get so many in Queens is because the only champ killed that isn’t part of the events is the spider.

I don’t care if you zerg in QD, just stop complaining. I started running the one in Frostgorge and cannot stand the one in QD anymore.

To be realistic though, zergs have really ruined the games economy as it is and (probably) led to the ridiculous requirements for crafting ascended gear. If anything I could see the zerging as the only reason why they would get rid of waypoints and put in mounts. Having to actually run across a zone would quickly end the whole ‘zerg’ mentality of gathering materials/gear/cash in the game because it, honestly, is the most profitable way because it takes the least amount of effort.

Elementalist with greatsword?

I noticed that too Tom. Why are there so many legendary greatswords and only ONE regular sword? I don’t even use greatswords on the classes that can use them because females look like they’re dragging the weapon around when they aren’t swinging it. (psst, Anet, change how female characters wield the greatsword to the same stance as men).

Also, the last thing Eles need is another melee weapon, they’re too squishy to be that close even though d/d tends to be the preferred elementalist build for its mobility. What they need is pistols/rifles/bows something that will let them move and keep away from the things that easily kill them. I’d rather see a sword for ele’s than a greatsword. A lot of the other classes that use greatswords tend to get rooted when they do, a death sentence for elementalists because they don’t have the armor like warriors/guardians or the distracting clones like mesmers.
