Idea: Replace "Servers" with "Alliances"

in WvW

Except in Eotm, it’s possibly too short and too inconsequential, as well as too map-related.

I’m thinking a complete overhaul of wvw. The only reason eotm is a gongshow is because there is still a regular wvw. If there is no more wvw, there’s a chance that we lose a lot of players, which is a shame, but we’re losing players anyways.

Plus, if the 50 blue are actually getting tired of being outnumbered, it’ll cause them to leave. The servers that do have people will then either get bored or sit on an empty map. It’s self-regulating. How long do you think you’ll stay on a map where you’re rolling over people when rewards are somewhat low and there’s nothing to do. I’d imagine that if you take out the barrier between players moving between sides (for the most part. You’d still have to keep them locked into their chosen color for that matchup), players would rarely choose a side that’s completely winning 100% of the time.

Speaking of rewards, there’s also a possibility that you could alter wvw rewards to retroactively function off of how much you do on a map and then the game calculates it and sends you those rewards at the end of the wvw period. If it’s a week long thing, the game tallies how many events, kills, etc you’ve done that week and rewards you thusly (note that both killing and defending and capturing would be taken into consideration for the rewards, as well as the regular wvw rewards that essentially don’t exist at the moment). Then you could give rewards as a percentage of players. If the top 10% of players in a specific match have killed x number of players and taken x number of objectives, they get marginally better rewards, but you still get a reward no matter how poorly you do (unless maybe you’ve killed 0 people, defended 0 things, captured 0 things, assaulted 0 things, etc). That way there’s an informal sort of loot ladder, but anyone participating gets rewarded for doing so.

This type of rewarding would so prevent people from stacking, theoretically. Killing the same people over and over would give you no rewards, so farming a group wouldn’t help you any after the first time (much like how wxp per kill works. You’ve got to wait like 1 minute between killing someone before they give you anything). Permanently holding towers and keeps would give you few rewards because you would only get rewards from actually playing the map. The best way to get rewards would be to actively play wvw. Defending gets you some rewards and obviously more rewards based on how many times you defend.

You could also change how siege worked to make it so that it costs less supply to build siege in shorter lasting games, maybe?

As far as keeping it unlike EotM, I’d wager that players would find their way around and disrupt things. The K-Train in EotM ends as soon as a group decides to fight, right?

Goodbye, this game doesn’t need you. And neither does this community.

Actually, we do. WvW population is dropping. Anet has lowered the caps on servers as a way to artificially inflate our assessment of the situation, but for the most part anything other than t1 NA (not sure about EU) has no queues outside of EB. We can all sit here and pretend that there aren’t any population issues, but there really are. I’d wager that 90% of people still playing are aware of that. People are quitting left and right, so encouraging more people to leave makes you almost as toxic as the ones who you’ve labeled as toxic.

I have no real comment on the rest of your post, but why is it that so many people see queues as a good thing? I personally like being able to hop to any map I want without having to sit in a queue.

Queues represent a certain number of players. Tonight, for example, there is a 50 man queue on EB, which normally suggests that a lot of players are here, but on every map other than EB my server has no more than 10 people. Some of us like to at least have 20-30 on a map in order for it to be interesting.

dont let them get you down! and you can take solace in the fact that guild zergs might very organized they almost never have enough numbers to take on a full pug zerg and get wiped all the time lol
im guessing they were wiped and tried to blame the extras for their lack of numbers vs a larger group lol

You must play against some fairly bad guild groups or with some very good pug groups, then.In my experience, guild groups can deal with about 1.5 times their numbers if they’re good, sometimes more, sometimes less. It really depends on the communication and skill of the pug group. If they’re in ts, that’s one thing. If they’re just following a tag, that’s another.

Idea: Replace "Servers" with "Alliances"

in WvW

OR, you could dramatically alter the wvw situation. Rather than have servers matter whatsoever, one could remove the idea that wvw can function 24/7 and create a number of wvw instances. When one wants to join wvw, a dropdown menu could exist which allows for the joining of a number of instanced wvws (or through the LFG system).

WvW could then run in a number of instances, some which exist for only an hour on one borderland, some which exist for an entire week on all 4 maps, some that only last for a day, maybe some that last a few hours, etc.

You queue as one of the three colors (or you have guild leaders queue their entire guild for that color) and then you’d only be able to be that color for that specific matchup. You’d still have queues, but queues become much more apparent. 1 hour wvw? 100 man cap per server, let’s say. When choosing a color, you can see exactly how many have chosen what colors and the population on each map would be determined by the number of people playing on the least populated team. This should discourage people signing up for the more full servers. Matchup turnover would be frequent enough that in a lopsided matchup, you could wait it out and join a different color the next round.

Furthermore, you could have multiple matches going at once which could help with both queue times and multiple guilds-repping people. If you have multiple guilds signed up as different colors, you choose which color you’ll be repping in that matchup. It’ll be a bit messy until people figure it out, but what isn’t? If you’re queued for one matchup (let’s say a larger matchup that your guild is playing in), you could enter a shorter wvw matchup as whatever color because, and this is key, your color choice for one map would only matter for that one map. Say Guild A is blue team for Matchup A, but that is full atm, so I’m waiting in queue. I immediately enter a different map (similar to going to a borderland while waiting in queue for EB) and help out there in a smaller map where the stakes are less high. You can choose whatever color you want here, so everyone in your guild can queue for this other matchup that’s doing less well for itself as green this time.

It’s a more radical idea, but it solves a lot of things that people seem to care about. Perhaps you could have something similar to the current format where guilds can start a world event on their own, or people can start a matchup on their own and wait for it to queue. Maybe have 1 full-on wvw matchup going on per week, 5 day long, then 10 6 hour ones, 20 1 hour ones (these numbers being flexible when considering the population who do wvw at that particular hour). If the matchup gets too full for you, you can find a different one which is less populated.

Also, there wouldn’t be a fixed number of people allowed to sign up for each map at once, only a fixed number of people on each map per matchup. If too many people sign up to be red (say 300 do, but there’s only room for 100), but only 150 people sign up as blue and 100 as green, only 50 blue have to be queued if they’re playing at that moment, no green would have to queue ever, and a lot of red would have to queue. This would either lead to a bunch of idiots waiting in queue, or people would sort it out themselves. No server transfer needed, really, just either don’t queue for the fullest one the next week or split your guild appropriately. I’d imagine that any guild running more than 50 in wvw at once wouldn’t mind splitting into 2 groups and queuing opposite each other for a matchup or two, then regrouping in a different matchup when they have fewer people.

Just a thought. Consider it.

A plea to the devs- Get rid of auto upgrades

in WvW

Posted by: Melanion.4892

Melanion.4892

Further consideration: auto-upgrades were put in place to try to get us to take enemy towers and keeps quickly, creating the illusion that servers and matchups are active. Letting a keep or tower fortify becomes an inevitability unless you prevent it, meaning you now have incentive (although a rather small incentive) to move to a different map and take things.

Consider their argument: you’re not in their teamspeak. Statistically, people who are not in the guild are more likely to get caught out and rally the enemy. You specifically dying and rallying their 5 people could shift the entire fight (assuming that there would be a fight, lol).

If you really feel the need to run with them, try not to rally folks. Try not to get in the way. Try not to miss a key veil. Try not to drop a field where they would otherwise be blasting something more useful. Maybe consider joining their guild (if they’ll have you). Maybe consider joining a guild that would have you. Back when WvW felt like it wasn’t dying, a few wvw guilds ran havoc groups when their guild would enter a map. Gives you a group to play off, but you’re not exactly zerging.

Submitted a ticket asking for the transfer to be reversed. Was told this wasn’t possible.

EDIT: am told it was possible up until a week after my transfer, but since I transferred just over a week ago and, as the original support ticket mentioned, posted on the forums and waited, I am not unable to be transferred back.

Reasonably annoyed right now.

Edit again: Fixed everything. Pestered them a bit.

What’s your queue spread like? Are more maps than EBG queued? How much is EBG queued? Are there any groups on maps other than EBG?

TC currently (5:25 pacific) has a 35 man queue on EBG. No queues on the other maps, but tags with about 20 on them on each borderland.

Hello Chaba,

Apologies, I wasn’t clear when I mentioned metrics. I meant metrics since launch, not only post HOT.

FW

Hello Jdallen,

But I think Anet will do what they do and look at metrics.

I am guessing that 100% WvWers are a small subset of GW2 players.

The metrics are rigged because guilds cannot play 100% WvW and get their guild halls and hall upgrades. PvP guilds can’t either, by the way.

Even since launch, it’s been near impossible to get everything from WvW. You want ascended armor? Struggle to get it in WvW for months or farm PvE for a week. Want ascended trinkets and whatnot? Do guild missions or wait till you get laurels. Early in the game’s release, finishing dailies required you to leave WvW. Want to try a new build? Gotta go to PvE to get easy gold. Want to get some exclusive sigils and runes? PvE. Want some exclusive stats (eg: Sinister, Viper’s)? Go to PvE.

Never have you been able to solely WvW.

Also, assuming that Anet knows these things are bugs, would it be beneficial to have a list of known bugs that Anet is working to fix? I have no indication that they know of this, but they might already know and just haven’t told us yet. No way to know.

You can always try out PvP too, to play together. I mean I know that’s not ideal, but if you just run as 2 people doing small-man stuff anyway, might as well try it out right? A lot of my roaming friends have started doing much more PvP since the expansion, since roaming in the new borderlands is pretty much pointless.

And in the meantime, just watch for one of the servers to open up I guess.

We do pvp, but that only holds out interest for so long. And I’m posting this here because in the support ticket I was told to make a thread so people can voice their opinions or some nonsense.

Support said to post it here because apparently the devs read forums (LOL, I had a laugh at that).

My friend and I are on t2 servers in NA. For the most part, we roam in wvw at a time when roaming on our server was active but the other servers were fairly dead. We started on SoS and found plenty of roamers during our time slot, but they were from our own server. We decided to transfer to the only other t2 server that was open (TC) because it had fewer people online during the times that we wvw to hopefully have some nice competition while roaming. The problem: TC filled just after I transferred and just before my friend could.

Now, I know people are going to say “go to another server” blah blah, but T2 is where we like to be. It’s where our friends are, both on the server and off the server. It’s always fun to see a friendly face on or off the server while running around. T2 has enough activity throughout the day that if we roamed during the morning or the evening, we could find at least something happening. I honestly don’t care which T2 server we’re on, as long as we’re on the same one, but now all are full. We were in T3 previously, it was absolutely dead during the times we were in WvW. T1 is far too full.

Again, support said that I should post here about it so as to “[allow] other players to discuss and offer feedback of their own”. I could care less about what the rest of you will say and I’m fairly certain that I know what responses will be, so just as a pre-emptive counter: The top 12 EU servers have seemingly immediately become full. In NA, overnight 3 servers went from High or Very High to Full. Activity in WvW is not up, there is no question about that (and if any dev/anyone needs to be shown this, I am happy to show you, join on me in game and I will show you how dead the maps are). I’m not the only one to think that server populations are either artificially being monitored or are somehow buggy. I want a way to play the game mode I like with my friends, but now we can’t.

Until we can get on the same server, I really can’t see us playing together. PvP is fun for about an hour, two or three times a week, but it’s really not why I continued playing the game. It’s not why I bought the expansion. It’s not why I will continue to play the game. Honestly, I can’t see myself playing for too much longer if I can’t find a way to reunite with my friend. Seems a bit needy, but c’est la vie. Unfortunate server population measuring has led to some of us (read: me) being caught on the wrong sides of the Berlin wall, here. Don’t be East Germany here, Anet. Let us reunite as a family again.

I wvw fairly frequently. Rank 2265, mostly roaming in groups of 2-5 or going around with groups of 15-20. I only ktrain when I’m incredibly bored.

I actually like the new map. It’s a welcome change, the only trouble is nobody wants to be there. There are plenty of opportunities to play with the environment to beat people while outnumbered. Worst part is that nobody is there to fight. My roaming buddy and I spent about 2 hours on the borderland last Saturday and Sunday, then again this Friday, each time during NA prime. The fights were actually fun. Terrifying fights on the ledges in the southeast. Only thing I could ask for is more people to play on the map, whether it be a zerg or roamers. It’s a great map for a smart zerg and even better for roaming.

Tl;dr: don’t write off the new map so quickly. Learn the map. Play the map. When there are more people on the map, it’s going to be more fun. As it is, it’s fun when people are playing.

Waypointing within guild hall

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Melanion.4892

At the moment, if you have two teams fighting in the guild arena, they cannot waypoint out of the arena, at least not while they are still in combat. The only way to respawn would be to hope someone else on your ‘team’ is alive to res you or to completely leave the guild hall and come back.

Secondly, when using the waypoints within the guild hall, it costs money (only 2s or so, but it’s still annoying that we have to pay to waypoint in a place which is essentially meant to be our guild’s hub.

Finally, I’m not even in combat, but it seems that when some people are in your guild hall fighting in the arena, it is impossible to waypoint whatsoever.

It’s a really nice place to fight and these are all things which can be worked around, but I figured someone should let Anet know that their creation is broken.

Hey folks,

Lots of passionate feedback and discussion in here on either side, and a friendly reminder that constructive feedback helps us make better games (please do keep it constructive!) We don’t always get every detail perfect the first time, but I like to think one of our strengths is we’re always open to and listening to feedback from our community and making good decisions based on that feedback.

Ultimately, we’re thrilled with the parts of HoT everyone is enjoying. Your passion is awesome, and it’s part of why we all love creating this game. In particular, in game we’ve seen a really positive reaction to the game from folks who are busy playing, which has been really cool to see.

While we never like to rush and make snap decisions, in particular with a game that’s basically been out less than three days; I think there are some fair points in here for us to discuss. Much like other feedback about HoT, we’ll be discussing this as well!

Thanks again!

End of Monday now. Thoughts/feedback from Anet? It’s all well and good for us to keep discussing these things, but the most effective way for us to discuss this would be to know where Anet is thinking of going with it. What ideas are you considering, because we can tell you right now whether or not some of them will be good. What ideas will you be completely ignoring? Are you even talking about it? Is the discussion soon? I’d imagine that it’d come soon (as in, if I were an employee monitoring the forums, the outcry would make me want the meeting to have been earlier today).

Also think that updating the community on what is being changed would be a great way to dissuade hasty decisions from those thinking of throwing in the towel, leaving poor reviews, etc.

Just keep us updated. We’ll enjoy that. If you’re thinking that it’s never going to happen, let us know (so that I can just return to playing WoW). If you’re thinking it’ll happen in a few weeks, let us know what we need to prepare on our alts to get a head start. Just let us know.

So your solution to the community’s outcry is to tell us to hold tight? I have alts that I want to have an elite spec on, but that won’t happen. I was going to buy another character slot so I could make a necromancer of a different race. I was going to do all of these things which are now infinitely more difficult because of the difficulty of hero points.

Initially, I wanted to go through the new content with each profession I had in order to get all of the specializations unlocked. Now, I will not be doing so. My interest plummeted as soon as I discovered that the mesmer I unlocked chronomancer on would be the only mesmer on which I can use that specialization. That means the number of times I would need to unlock each specialization at least doubled. That’s ridiculous. It makes me want to play less. It makes me want to spend less on your game. It makes me want to rescind any recommendation I made of your game to any of my friends.

I have a few friends who previously quit the game that returned on the day of the expansion to ask me to test things out for a week. I agreed. This is not boding well for their purchasing of the expansion.

I think the general consensus is that the game has the potential to be great. The expansion is amazing. Nobody is questioning that, I think. Nobody is even complaining about the new map. The complaint is that you have to grind to even get a chance to play the elite specialization. That’s no fun. Maybe make us grind to complete the entire specialization track, but until you completely unlock a track, sometimes you’re not viable anywhere other than pve. I can’t go and wvw with a half-unlocked trait track. I can’t justify that, so I’m stuck not enjoying the new content or I’m forced to pve for it over the next weeks. That’s enjoyable to nobody.

After two days of playing much more HoT than I initially intended I can take back my initial disappointment.

I started in this thread advocating for ANet saying that there’s nothing wrong with their design, even though it’s not the one I would have preferred. After getting into HoT on Friday to see the exact design they went with I became disheartened. I did not expect to have so little control about how I leveled through the new content. I was especially upset because of where it put my Revenant who had no chance to build points before release.

It’s been two days now and from just playing the content, and doing some of the story, as well as the prologue on something to the effect of five or six characters, I’ve unlocked teir 1 jumping, teir 2 gliding, and I’m working on exalted language. With just these three teirs I have full access to the maps on all my characters. I know where all of the points in the first map are and can easily get or skip them as I please. So far I’ve only skipped two because they’re too hard to solo. I look forward to finding an expedition to deal with them eventually, or not.

I don’t have a problem with the design. I’m playing a Scrapper, a Daredevil, a Berzerker and a Dragonhunter and they’re perfectly sufficient as is. I’m holding back on Herald for now, but I’ll get around to it.

You’ve already unlocked 4 full elite specs since the game released 65 hrs ago? Don’t know what to say to that except proof plz.

If you have map completion on the characters, you have 200 or so hero points to begin with. That’s plenty to at least unlock most of the specialization. Probably about half. I had map completion on my mesmer and I was able to fairly easily get 80% done with tier 1 or 2 of the masteries. It’s not unreasonable that he could have. Still a lot of work for those of us without map completion on the rest of our characters

Specializations Character Bound

I know there are plenty of people complaining about the 400 HP required to unlock a specialization. I understand that complaint, but I’m sitting here already having unlocked my chronomancer on one of my mesmers. However, I have more than one mesmer. I’m going to have to unlock this specialization on ALL of my characters, not just the new professions. That’s a little ridiculous.

I’ve spent money on this game unlocking new character slots. Why do I need to do that? I was a strictly WvW/PvP player before this expansion. The PvE bored me because I didn’t give it much of a shot. Now I’ve given it a shot. It’s not that bad. However, I don’t want to always have to do it on one character. My condition armor is on one mesmer, my power set is on another. Not all of it is ascended. That’s just annoying. It’s not like I’m experiencing anything new, Anet’s just gating some of my characters from playing a specialization that I’ve already unlocked on a different character. I don’t get the reasoning behind that.

While I appreciate the changes made to the map (seeing your guildies all over is amazing), but if my party is outside of my minimap range, I can’t see what direction they’re in. That’s incredibly annoying and I think accidental. If it was intentional, then I’d like to hear the justification behind the decision.

I mean, as much as we complain about changing Friday reset, Anet seems intent on changing it to Saturday night. It won’t change for a long time, if ever.

At worst, the game mode dies and we don’t have to deal with it. At best we get used to it. Either way, it’s not likely to change. Let’s all save our breaths for something that we can change.

You’re right, if we just stop talking about it they will never change it back, ever. Anet is counting on us “saving our breath” for something we can influence cha…. ok I can’t even finish that sentence it’s so ridiculous.

Show me one instance of Anet delivering something the WvW community has asked for. And no, fixing achievements so they don’t take a minimum 12 years to complete (3 years after launch) doesn’t count.

WvW won’t last another year let alone 3 for the next “fix”

I’m not saying stop talking about it, I’m saying stop thinking we’re going to accomplish anything. It’s like when your parents would say something like “we’re going to dinner” and you try to negotiate with them and then you realize that you have no say in the matter. Anet are the parents here and talking with them isn’t going to solve anything. If the reset thing upsets us that much, don’t attend reset. Don’t play wvw. They want numbers, let’s give them numbers.

Realistically, most of you guys complaining in this thread will continue to wvw after the change has been implemented. Most will attend reset if they can. Most will continue to play the game. Anet knows this, so we have no chips to bargain with. We’ve seen it before, we’ll see it again. Since there’s no subscription to cancel, there’s really nothing else we can do.

Some quick things to keep in mind when things settle down and Anet re-evaluates the reset times:

Many more people log in on Saturday, yes, but the fact that they log in does not necessarily mean that they’re logging in specifically because it’s saturday. For the past year or two, my guilds have hated reset night because it’s laggy and blobby and overall not enjoyable for the kind of wvw we’d like to be able to have. I know of a few other guilds that do the same, at most sending a few people to a borderland when they’re bored. Reset night has been a burden that some of us have had to sit through on Friday night while waiting for things to settle down by Saturday so that we can play.

I have a few concerns with this that I’m not sure will be taken into account:
Friday’s population will drop. I’d wager that Thursday’s population is somewhat lacking in WvW because most matchups have been decided and it becomes a karma-train. There’s nothing wrong with this, but it’s a behaviour that I think has stemmed from a lack of interesting play and counterplay on Thursdays because most have given up. Friday will become this new night, which is completely fine, but when we look at the numbers of people logging in after reset has been changed, we must consider the number of people that simply won’t log in to WvW on Friday because it’s got nothing interesting to contribute.

A similar problem will come from Saturday reset: the numbers will be artificially inflated by the expansion so we won’t actually be able to know how the change in reset nights will effect reset populations.

Just please, carefully consider the data before deciding if/when reset will be changed after the HoT release. Numbers will be a little tricky. There are too many variables being introduced with HoT to accurately kitten what will or won’t happen on reset nights in WvW. We’ve got new pve, we’ve got new professions, we’ve got a new map, we’ve got an influx of new or returning players. Until that all dies down, I’d hate to have Anet make any final decisions. Perhaps after a month of reset on Saturday we can look at the data that we have no access to and determine if a change is needed. Then look at it a month after that when the hype has died even further.

Another thing: can I just mention that the number of people online in wvw does not actually mean that WvW is in a good place. I’d imagine that at the moment WvW population spikes on Friday and Saturday, dips a little for Sunday through Tuesday and then is at its lowest on Wednesday (all during NA prime on NA servers, btw). Then Thursday, the K-train day, comes and we’ve got a spike in players. This spike is not necessarily indicative of interest. This spike is here after one server has pretty much won the week and people are taking advantage of easy wvw rewards. So when reset moves to Saturday, the K-train moves to Friday and we might have artificially inflated numbers there.

Tl;dr: make sure that whoever is looking at the numbers is actually able to understand the numbers. Statistics are incredibly easy to misinterpret and manipulate, so please just take care…

The staff looks nice, but I can’t get past the name. Seems a bit phoned in. “Oh, ravens are on the staff. Let’s call it Nevermore.” At least with the other legendary names so far, they reference something a little more abstract than the most famous thing a raven has ever said…

Guild Arena Suggestion

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Melanion.4892

Melanion.4892

I understand that guild halls are not specifically meant for wvw or pvp guilds, but there are a fair number of us who are (or were, considering the general disappointment I’m hearing from friends about the 2 months they’ll have to pve for the guild arena) incredibly frustrated with the apparent necessity of pve for this content.

Anet has done some really good work with allowing progression to pve-like rewards in pvp (not so much for wvw, but that’s not the point) and it seemed like the philosophy used to be “you should be able to get in pvp or wvw what you could get in pve” but that has now changed to “you must pve”. Some of us will not pve. I know I won’t, so that means I’m going to either have to leech off a guild for an arena or not have an arena with my guild. They’re largely in the same boat.

Is there any plan for making this content in any way available through pvp or wvw? I don’t think any non-pve-ers would mind spending more time than pve folks unlocking the hall, but we want to do it in pvp or wvw. PvP seems fairly easy, I’d imagine… A weekly reward track necessitating a certain amount of wins or games played as a guild group in pvp which would allow us similar progression to the PvE side of the game. Maybe in wvw there are a certain number of people that need killing or maybe towers that need capping (although this is tricky in tiers where towers and keeps are generally well defended 24/7). Definitely not a “kill this mob in wvw” kind of thing.

Perhaps to make things more constant, the guild can progress on one of three tracks weekly which would, if completed, progress you towards the guild hall, much like dailies? I’m really trying to throw out any suggestion here because all I’m hearing from guildies and ex-guildies who said they’d be returning to the game for expansion is that they don’t want to be forced to pve and it’s really unfortunate that this news from Anet is doing so much to hinder the return of so many pvp-focused players.

I think most of the complaint about the lack of bunny ears and whatnot is an acknowledgement that there is a huge playerbase that want specific items and would be willing to pay money or gold for those items, but we’re not seeing them go on sale. In a game that is so driven by player purchases in the gem shop, I’d imagine that Anet would want to make that money (especially in a sale coming right before an expansion which might make them want to bank a little extra money to put toward the expansion or things that will be developed after the expansion.

We just don’t want to see revenue streams for Anet lost or closed because they’re focused on these 21 day sales that probably should have been 7 day sales

I found some of the discounts exceptional. Certainly no disaster or any equivalent description from what I could see.

It was a 21 day sale and you probably found things that you wanted to buy on maybe 3 of those days. I’d wager that they could have condensed the GOOD items from this sale to a 4 or 5 day sale, maybe 7 day and we wouldn’t have noticed the difference.

It really grinds my gears that Anet promotes a massive sale for 21 days but it quickly becomes apparent that the only reason they made it a 21 day sale was for publicity and they kitten at least 7 of the days.

Complaining over a sale? How would you feel if there aren’t any more sales? Can’t complain about “bad” sales if there are no sales to begin with, and Anet might learn that to our detriment.

I think the point is that we didn’t use the sales. Of the GW2 players willing and able to buy items from the gem store, I’m sure a number didn’t actually buy anything because we were disappointed by what was actually on sale. I could sell a literal pile of garbage for 50% off and NOBODY WOULD BUY IT. It’s on sale, sure, but the demand isn’t there for my garbage. Now, Anet didn’t sell us garbage. They ended their sale selling us a rock, which is cool, I suppose, but they could have had everyone in my guild and most of my friends list, and even most of the people I know casually to buy the wide rimmed glasses and bunny ears for 500 gems each. Maybe there are a few other things in there.

If you want to have a sale to draw in some sales, you might want to consider buying things that people actually want. ESPECIALLY considering the fact that Anet’s PR will have to work double-time in order to make up for the disastrous Mordrem events.

Not really sure what you and others were expecting. It was sales with a discount and returned items. 100% what was advertised and brought.

I expect Anet’s sales team to consider their ‘success’ here and realize that they could have done much better.

You don’t have to make things sales prices. Things that were available in the past 6-8 months can go on sale for 10-20% off or something and items that are consistently available are at 25-30% off. Items that haven’t been available for the past 2-3 years (and have changed functionality since then from simply townclothes which were pointless to now actual armor skins) can go on for regular prices OR EVEN INFLATED PRICES. Nobody who wants the bunny ears or hipster glasses would mind paying 500-800 gems, I think because the anniversary sale could be a sale in that it brings back things that we really really want.

The demand is there. It’s been 2 years since they were available. I don’t want skins that were available to me in the past 6 months and I passed on because in my opinion they were pretty ugly. They are still ugly. It won’t change my mind.

It’s a bit dramatic, but yea. I was fully prepared to excitedly return to the game and buy some fun things from the gem store (wide rimmed glasses hype) but every day I became more and more disappointed that this apparently mega sale is absolutely trash. Does not make me want to buy things…

In a game that’s so focused on making money from PLAYER PURCHASES will do so little to encourage us to actually buy things we want. A PET ROCK TO CONCLUDE YOUR CELEBRATORY SALE? WHAT A JOKE.

Hi, sorry if this has already been written about (or was intentional) but the forum doesn’t really have a good search function.

I have more than one character that turned 3 recently (3 of them, that I logged on to recently) and I’ve only received one birthday present mail of the three of them. Is this intentional? In previous years you received one birthday present per character. I didn’t see any sort of announcement that we were to expect only one 3rd birthday present, so I’m not sure if it’s a bug or it’s intentional.

Yes, I want it solved. No, I don’t know what is causing this. Maybe it’s something Anet knows about. Apparently WoW had their servers attacked recently, so maybe the same happened to GW.

I can’t imagine that Anet wouldn’t already know about this. It was more of a “If devs are reading, please provide any updates if they are available”
