I wonder considering the success of PvP in Guild Wars 1, why some of the same elements weren’t brought across?
Also, would love to see a couple of old GW1 maps brought in…. these are the mists… imagine the old maps, just better textures – possibility?
I think recording the matches would actually be a beneficial thing from a PvP stand point. Think if u could go back and watch, you can see how an opponent plays and adapt to them. Also i think it would really help shoutcasters and they could practice a lot more and also see how teams play.
I do think however this kind of update would be pretty far off, as they would need to create an internal recorder for all type of PvP, then have a way to store a certain amount of games… i doubt even ArenaNet has the ability to store EVERY PvP match played. Or maybe give players the ability to save certain games? You have the option to save say 10 games, with gem store purchases being able to increase your save folder. I do believe this function would really add to PvP which does need a bit more focus on, despite all the championships going on atm. I don’t feel the gameplay (aside from new maps) needs much modifying.
Going back to my original point though, i would really like a form guide, i believe it should be simple to set up, and am thinking of this from a time consuming point of view of the dev’s. What i really would like to see basically, is some sort of PvP History of matches.
One extra thing that i currently do atm, is look at the number of matches played per profession, the number of tournament wins, and work out the percentage. For example, my Guardian has played 238 matches and won 120 giving slightly over 50% average.
However a profession i’m less experienced at… Ranger, i’ve played 25 matches and won only 9, giving a win ratio of 36%. These stats can be useful as i can see what professions i may need to look at more in depth and see what i’m doing wrong.
My Highest win ratio’s are Necro and Engi, showing they are the 2 that would give more general support (please note i havve only played 14 tPvP matches hence the middle averages – although in tPvP i do have a 71% win ratio!).
I think these kind of stats help players identify which professions suit them, and if debating on who is more experienced e.g, 5 players debating on which should be a engi – using the win ratio (of over 10 games) they can identify which of the group is the most suited.
I don’t imagine creating another pie chart with win ratio’s would be too difficult? or evening a table format.
Hi,
I was curious to see if there was ever the possibility of seeing a “behind the scenes” look at say, a living world episode?
Seeing map generation, the story formation, voice acting, and general ideas behind a patch. I think seeing a process would give the players much more understanding of the trials and tribulations that designing a LS has. I guess having seen many behind the scenes documentaries i was curious to see if Guild Wars 2 would ever have such a thing?
I personally would love to see how for example dry top was made from concept, to creation.
i’d say on average, if u turn up at least 15mins before, you will have a 90% chance to defeat Teq.
Well you could keep it simple – u could have a bar with 10 slots – filled by W L or X O along the lines of WWLLLWWLWL.
There could also be a new tab which has your last 10 games showing team score, with your side highlighted in bold. Or just have your side being the left hand (home in sports) side.
E.g.
504 – 380
355 – 500
If you wanted to go further, you could have a summary such as the end screen of a match – and put that information in a tab. With it being updated each match. I’m giving 10 as a number just as i think if u recorded ALL history your servers would need a lot more space!
But also you could use the pie chart graph as well…. say for last 50 matches with what professions you’ve used…. then number of wins in the last 50 etc.
I’m not too fussed about personal score as in pvp i don’t think its relevant to the rest of the game play. You could include team mates… however i’ll argue that if you had a bad team mate, you may check back your matches and see how someone has been performing…. if poorly, they may be negatively affected. I think it should only include personal data, along with a indication showing if you won or not.
I don’t know if this has been asked before, but i’d really love to know how i’ve been doing in say the last 10 matches. It would be nice to have a form bar in the pvp tab so that u could see a W-L ratio and how big a streak your on.
This could allow for new achivement titles based on the winning streak u have… losing streak titles may encourage afk’s.
For example, recently i won 8/10 matches i’d had as a necro in sPvP. Then i swapped to my mesmer and lost 6 in a row. At that point you know its not your day !
Just a suggestion, i’m guessing the difficulty in implementing this would be how much PvP history can be saved per player….
Just to say, as someone who’s surname is Blooman – i’m hoping Bloomanoo takes over the world
I also can see as someone 28 risen priest of balthazar mini’s, that the ability to forge them would drastically lower the value of other mini exotics. Would u ever consider changing the rarity of an item?
Just to chip in on this one, this actually already happened. There was a seasonal mini, which initially had a “rare” rarity but quite a high droprate and a low price on the tp. Iirc, it was the Mini Holographic Risen Knight, which dropped from Dragon Coffers during last years Dragon Bash. People started mass forging them, which basically crashed the price of exotic mini´s. A couple of days into Dragon´s Bash, they patched its rarity down to Masterwork.
Edit: Found the patch note post:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-June-11th-2013/first#post2207230
Changed the rarity of the Mini Holographic Risen Knight from Rare to Masterwork to reflect the actual value of the item. The argument could be made that this could also provide a decent karma sink.
At an estimated 1% chance for a Mini Risen Priest… That’s an average of 455000 karma for each one. Nearly 2 million karma for a single random exotic mini?
In total honesty, there seem to be much better karma-to-gold methods out there.
.
I agree but wasn’t talking about a karma sink. I was mentioning referring to items in the game in which there were alot of. Previously, if u put up a karma booster with a karma banner making +60% karma, then when u opened orrian boxes u were able to recoup a significant amount of karma – thus i used far less than the amount of karma you state.
What my actual reasoning was, that with certain items affecting the game economy, and over abundance of specific items – for example another mini being the mini Queen Jennah – i have 8 chars over 1 year old so now have 8 mini’s. What am i supposed to do with them? It would be nice to be able to Mystic forge them or perhaps introduce a vendor to trade 4 for a special exotic – thus showing the benefits to making multiple characters. Shame the same system as Guild Wars 1 – having a random chance with a bday gift wasn’t carried over. With the many mini Risen Priest out there (among other items such as bloodstone dust etc), it might be beneficial to do the same as was done with the candy corn. Would be interesting to see what items in the game there are the most of!
Its mainly items you get but there is very little use for having multiple lots of (tends to me account/ soul bound items) that cause a little annoyance with me.
Many thanks
Hi John, been great to hear alot of the reasoning behind some of the marketing decisions of materials in game. I’m imagining the changes that also happen to items such as runes with the introduction of Ferocity really do shake up the market. I have 2 questions.
Firstly, did the 1st Queen’s jubilee with many players farming the Crown Pavillion driving down many of the prices of materials, and then also the evacuation of Lions Arch which had many people farming rewards as well, have major impacts in the economy? It seems with many new living world updates recently, there’s less farming and more “special rewards” such as the spinal blades backpiece with different colours. When you look at the recent Living World update, new materials have been introduced, but farming has been less prevalent i feel with less high value rewards available.
Secondly, are there many other items in the world that are superfluous? You mentioned Candy corn, but what about the many exotics that are in game – e.g. superior runes, mini’s, etc. I’m guessing the ability to mystic forge superior runes, like u can with weapons or armour would lead to a major shift in the economy with current cheap superior runes rising in price dramatically. I also can see as someone who has 28 risen priest of balthazar mini’s, that the ability to forge them would drastically lower the value of other mini exotics. Would u ever consider changing the rarity of an item? Such as certain minis? Or is the best way in your experience to find a sink such as u created for those with blade shards?
P.S. if you could get another sink for bloodstone dust i’d appreciate it!

Currently u can still waypoint there, However due to the position of the vine, people are getting stuck as u get positioned virtually inside the vine. Any possible way to move it over slightly?
I wondered why both Dry Top and Kessex Hills screens look so weird. I mean it barely looks like anything to do with the map. Please stop doing abstract screens as they aren’t as good compared to the other GW loading screens. I really despise looking at them.
I know its not a complicated process…. so why give it to us in the first place? I thought Anet didn’t want us to HAVE to delete anything?
I agree there are possibilities to cash them in, but compared to other mats, hardly any at all. I think they need to remove bloodstone dust from champ bags as its just ridiculous. Also prices rises in mats are happening more and more. I think u should be able to convert bloodstone dust into a NON account bound material.
I am aware of the information on Guild Wiki. The bricks are barely worth anything useful apart from ascended crystals. As for the dust, i said i have all ascended equipment, with the toxic cons being the most useful, however its actually cheaper to buy straight off the trading post, rather than go through the effort to craft. I believe there is an over abundance of Ascended mats – hence Dragonite Ore and Empyreal Fragments which can’t be used for anything other than crystals!!!
Hi,
I along with many others constantly build up materials we rarely use. The majority we are able to sell on the Trading Post. However, then we come to Account bound materials. These are useful initially, but having already created ascended armour and weapons, i now have stacks of the ascended mats in my bank (i’ve screenshotted how many! – 11250 for those interested).
My question to Anet is this: Is it worthwhile holding on to these mats? Will they possibly be used for anything other than ascended armour? Or will they have another use… thinking potions on Artificer, or maybe even Ascended Jewels.
Anyone who runs the EotM karma train or WvW in general will build up vast amounts, but if you have ascended equipment (which is all account bound and not sellable) then whats the point of keeping this dust? The sheer amount given to us from champ boxes is ridiculous.
The thing is, we were told with regards to blade shards, that we should keep them so that during the zepherites sanctum, we could sell them. However, the rewards were mostly Masterwork items and hardly worth the storage space. I would have dumped them straight away.
What i would like from Anet is just a quick comment on what they see the use of Bloodstone Dust. Is it likely to have another use within the next 6 months. Because then i suggest many people will likely dump their dust! Is it worth converting to bricks? I wouldn’t want to convert it to get 250 bricks and then have Anet tell us we need the dust!
Any thoughts? Also would be interesting to see who has the most amount of stacks of dust!
If there is one Boss event in GW2 that annoys me more than anything else, its this. Teq is a relatively easy way to Co-ordinate with people knowing what to do. I’m an experience GW2 player, but yet find the triple wurm impossible to do. I’m barely interested in trying anymore, I’ve attempted this event now 4 times, and never once got a wurm lower that 99%! I took a screenshot to show how poorly we did.
What i hate most though, is all those people in guilds going, oh Triple wurm is sooo easy, u need co-ordination through Team speak is all. This event is bad in the fact it doesn’t explain clearly what to do, would be nice to have an NPC tell u how the fight goes. Also if your not killing it fast enough, it should descale so you have a chance – no more champion adds! At one point there were 8 champion adds at the crimson wurm. I’m all for creating hard content, but this event must be completed 0.05% of the time
Thanks – its hard to find that u need a recipe for each piece of armour
Its not T6 as shown by the wiki entry. Also i have the insignia which u needed a recipe for, its just can’t be used with anything else to craft armour
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone else had this issue:
I’ve crafted a Celestial intricate Gossamer insiginia from my quartz and was going to use them to aid my advancement to level 500 in crafting. This insignia is unique as it is always account bound.
However, now i have crafted it, i can’t use it with any other crafting materials. E.g. in tailoring, leather working or armoursmith, i’ve crafted Tier 5 armour to use with an insignia, in this case the Celestial one, but its unavailable. It doesn’t show up in the crafting tabs for Discovery, or production. I’ve used different chars and it still makes no difference. I don’t know if this is a problem for me, or whether i’ve missed how u craft a celestial piece of armour.
I’ve looked at:

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
7.5/10 – The hair colour and the outfit together work really well. Although it does look like you’ve taken inspiration from Lara Croft/ Tomb Raider. If it was for the outfit as well it’d be higher.
Here’s my Ranger Miclas the Eye
8/10 – Drayzen is an interesting name, quite different but still human. Not too sure about the surname, especially for a mesmer as it feels a bit…. bland. However when said together, Drayzen Krane, it does sound quite good.
I’ve got 3 human’s:
Mistress Debzaria – Elementalist (boring i know, but she’s from GW1 so had to keep it!)
Miclas the Eye – Ranger – Deadly with the longbow!
Dezra the Deceptor – Mesmer (again a bit obvious but i wanted something that showed she’s a mesmer and some alliteration
7/10 – Being called Khan-Ur (meaning primus imperator) is just a title rather than a name, instead of Queen Jennah you’d be just Queen. If it was Khan Ur ……. that might be more cool – divisive!
I have 2 Charr:
Mikrall Defiantclaw – Guardian and also a play on my name (all with variations of Mike)
Kara Doomtooth – Female Ranger.
I am also having major issues with lag – it started off infrequently, then these past few days every time a major fight takes play e.g. pen/shelter it lags.
Now as soon as i log in i get lag and no matter what time of day it happens. I’ve restarted the router, my computer and still get lag. This only started happening after the adventure box came in.
I’m using windows 8 so its not just mac
