Both those baubles that you guys mentioned are in the Dulfy guide, it’s just not clearly explained. However they are both mentioned vaguely at least. I followed that Dulfy guide 3 times and didn’t get the achievement either. I’m wondering if you need to buy the baubles in the secret shop that you need to bomb the floor of one of the shops to get in to?
Hmmm…I shall give this a try. I’ve been there once to get the secrets achievement but will incorporate that into my next Master of Baubles run.
Thanks for the suggestions, folks. I guess I’ll try again and go for every possible bauble whether it is considered optional or not. Reading posts by Ekleipsis and Xrider (where a member of their team following all their moves at the same time got the achievement and they did not) makes me wonder if there is a bug and if so, what triggers it.
I don’t think some of us are blindly following a guide, or at least not initially. I imagine we all spent time running around trying to find things on our own and it was only after a few runs that guides were consulted. It’s just puzzling (pun intended) that some get the achievement following a guide and others do not when they do the exact same thing.
Sephy, thanks for the suggestions but that bauble is listed in Dulfy’s guide as well as the other one you and Halcyon posted. I have tried this several times now and have scoured the zone for any baubles that Dulfy might have missed but cannot locate any more. I’ve attempted this in both normal and infantile mode, with a group and solo, but cannot get the achievement to pop
Does the order in which you earn the achievements matter? I completed all of Zone 2 first, then attempted Zone 3 and got the secrets achievement, then went back later and completed Zone 1. Some in my guild have this achievement but others (including the group I ran with in my first attempt) do not and are experiencing the same problem.
If anyone has located a bauble that is not in Dulfy’s video, please post it. Thanks!
Game updated when I Iogged on a few hours ago and SB now spawns properly on Ehmry Bay. Thanks for fixing it.
SB hasn’t spawned on Ehmry Bay since the game reset on Thursday (5 p.m. PDT).
A group and I didn’t get the achievement either and we also were following a guide. I’m reluctant to attempt it again if there is a bug as I did not find the first attempt very fun. The other zones, yes, but zone 3…not so much. Can Anet confirm there is some sort of bug or not?
I have only been playing GW2 for about 4 weeks now and have not played any dungeons yet so take this for what it’s worth.
I played SWTOR for 14 months and there you run with a companion (kind of like a pet with more depth and abilities). I don’t recall any of my companions in SWTOR pulling mobs while following me around. I controlled my positioning if I wanted to avoid a pull and it didn’t seem to matter if my companion was closer to a mob than I or not. They certainly didn’t run ahead and jump another group while I’m finishing off the first one (or at least I don’t recall this being an issue).
I cannot tell you how many times I end up saying out loud while playing GW2, “Stop being such a kitten, Paddington!” to my bear as he runs off and starts attacking another group when I am trying to head in another direction. I can see how this would be extra frustrating in a dungeon.
So my (probably naive) question is, do pets have to aggro mobs, even when in passive mode? If this was changed, would there be a downside? It wouldn’t address pet AR, viability and all that, but it would allow a team to have more control over what gets pulled and when. Would this small change help anything?
I tried this again earlier today and wow, what a difference! Trahearne actually followed me this time and I focused on the Acolytes like others have suggested and as soon as they go down poof the mobs disappear. Of course, I’m now a level 80 with better weapons and gear but this mission no longer seems frustrating. Thanks for fixing it.
I am new to GW2 and failed hard when I hit the courtyard last night. I couldn’t believe how much more difficult this was compared to the rest of the storyline. Fighting with broken gear didn’t help things and starting the instance fresh with repaired gear just ended up with the same result at the courtyard. After spending way too much time at it, I finally gave up. I am relieved to learn that this is bugged and not supposed to be this difficult. It definitely takes the fun out of things. I may try some tips others have posted to see if that gets me through the never-ending mobs. I hope this gets fixed soon! though!
