Hey folks!
Playing gw2 since release, but I just recently started a warrior ( :o ),
and I’m really enjoying it’s power and swiftness.
Now tho, I got a couple of questions.
When having accessed that berserker tree, who other trait lines should I skill in Open World? I quite enjoy the 25% movement speed buff, yet I’m quite curious if its smarter to perma wear a warhorn (for haste) or keep that trait line without a warhorn ?!
Also, Ive seen a plenty of warriors running around with the 1h sword in open world. Is that a viable weapon (damage wise?) and why is it so popular? Could I possible replace the axe by a 1h sword in Dungeons / FotM / raids ; or is the axe “still” better incase I use a metabattle “Phalanx Strength” Build?
Another question I got is: in “mass” events, what is the most effective way to farm ? 1hsword/ axe + LB?
I know thats a plenty of question, I would appreciate it a lot tho if you would help me out
What trait do I choose in Dueling incase I’m not using mantras?
Hey all, just a simple question. As a “common” mesmer, I ran around with dueling, domination and Illusions (having assasin / zerker gear) in open world PvE.
Now having access to the elite spec, which of these trait lines should I swap out for the chronomancer? How do I trait the chrono and what utility skills (thought about mantra of pain, well of calamity) should I primarly use?
Thanks for the help =)

As for non-boss related fights (anything not instanced, basically) is far too easy. I suppose S/P #3 spam would be the easiest burst to pull off without getting into more complicated mechanics.
What I simply would like to know is.. whilst wealding S/P.. for better damage output (no matter whether its a boss that requires to be stunned by #3), should I stick to the autoattack chain or to #3?
First of.. I recently just created a thief and find it pretty awesome.. Playing since the release, I was never really interested in the class and was trying out one cause I suddenly became curious.
I love the fact how quickly everything dies in Open World PvE.
Also, the class feels very “dynamic” and “fast”, what I really love.
Plenty of questions came up tho.
1) Whilst in open world; and not having access to the DD (which I will use as soon as possible) – I use D/D and SB. In which situations do I use S/P? Also, whilst using S/B; should I perma use skill #3? Or is the damage by autoattack better?
Correct me if I’m wrong: whilst encountering Open World mobs, I usually use F1 to get to them or just run to them. Use #5 until they are <50% life and then spam #2. Of course its recommendable to stick to the auto simply when the mob needs like 2 hits anyways If sticking to stronger enemies either using SB or S/P (if perma blinding is possible)
2) Whilst stealthed; I noticed the thief dishes out some extra damage on his next attack. Does the require me to attack from behind or doesnt that matter?
3) Initiative mechanics: Does it load up faster while fighting enemies?
4) Is the thief really SO disliked? I’ve scrolled through some threads here and read the people said that its not viable, bad, lacks utility, is hard to play, dies easily while not watching..
That’s really sad if thats true; yet I don’t know if these people are just the “typical complainers” that moan about everything or if it’s true. Would be nice if someone could answer me that question who is objective. Really enjoying the playstyle and dynamic of the class (tried out the staff for the short time in PvP and loved it), I would like to use my thief / DD in any mode of the game – PvE (raids, fracs, open world), WvW and PvP. I don’t strife to play “the best” class, but it’s important to me that the class I play is somewhat viable, or at least “decent”.
Is the class really THAT hard to master? For the moment, at least for PvE, it seems pretty simple to me.

Just curious, while in Open world Post 80, besides wielding a GS; do you recommend using an offhand sword or focus?
And.. what offhand weapong is recommendable for open world once you access the chrono? Shield? Since you receive a perma movement speed bonus anyways..
edit: and whilst in dungeons / Fractals using the builds of metabattle, should I always bringt out my illusions ( sword and focus 5) and let them “fight” until the fight is over? or should I keep shattering ?

If you look around at the other threads of people asking about levelling mesmer (there are multiple even on the first page, man!), you’ll see that it’s partly because of how the mesmer is, partly because people don’t know how to leverage the damage that is there.
Yes, it will get better when you get traits. Where other classes are supplemented by their traits, mesmers are enabled by them. Start with Dueling, then go to Domination, then go to either Illusions for damage, or Inspiration for sustain.
Then create a specific build when you hit 80, and start working toward chrono.Yes, assassins is best at 80. Anywhere below 80, however, just stick with power primary. Assassin is the gear of choice because of reflects, but reflects aren’t very important when levelling.
This helped. I leveled my mesmer further and you seem to be right, which is great.
I personally feel like the mesmer got the most “fascinating” concept out of all the classes gw2 offers, so it’d be great if I personally get along well with the class too. Cheers for giving me back my motivation

Is it just me?
I recently created a mesmer because I like the concept a lot..
but.. I feel like he’s lacking a lot of damage in open world / solo play? :|
Im at ~ 20 now, but when I compare my guardian he killed the mobs much faster than my mesmer does (yeah I use illusions and shatter skills constantly).
I hope when I access all the traits that will become better. and I hope the wells (at least the one that is mainly taken for damage) works as good as the nec’s wells.
Another question: Do I play chronomancer still with assassin’s stats to be most efficient?
Hey guys,
so I’ve been trying out a necromancer for a bit and pretty much like him, altho I was wondering what the current meta for this class is.
I’m informed there are basically three ways to play a necro in PvE (Condi, Power or Mixed (Hybrid); yet I’m curious what the most effective of those three builds is IF you intend to play PvE a lot (dungeons; higher fractals)
I’d be happy about every constructive answer! :-)
