There’s also a theory that the tremor gambit is activating improperly.
It’s happening to a considerable amount of people now and I’ve yet to see ANet say anything about it.
Nah. I’m thinking Scarlet = Countess Anise. Her hair is red. That’s all I’m going on. Plus, the Shining Blade’s responsibilities were curtailed in favor of the Watchwork knights. Perhaps she has a grudge.
Would be pretty sweet if I were right.
I’ve suspected Anise since before this event and my suspicions have only been heightened.
Her dialogue is incredibly fishy, she’s always talking about “that’s exactly what I’d have done” when referring to enemy plans. Now the weird Logan manipulation thing, I definitely mistrust her.
Yeah Liadra and possibly other bosses are bugged to have perma-knockdown at the moment.
Leading theory I’ve seen is that the tornados aren’t being properly despawned as it’s that sort of knockdown that hits you.
I’ve not yet seen a single dev response to this game breaking problem.
Seems to be taking between 25-50% longer to get in to zones for me at the moment.
Seems it’s not just Liadra then maybe. Could be some truth to the invisible tornados theory.
A post in this thread suggests the tornados from another fight are not being despawned properly even though the animation is removed.
However I’m not certain about this because the one thing that seems to be true of every bug report I’ve seen for constant knockdown is it’s in the Liadra fight.
It seems more specific to Liadra to me though you can bet I won’t be attempting it again until ANet responds and fixes this.
Exact same think happens to me with certain skills when participating in a zerg on the new Legendary creatures in the new zone.
When there’s about 50 people or more, my veils and fields will not display until up to 4 seconds after I have cast them, including my reflect bubble.
If this is happening to other players, using reflect fields could easily be exploited.
I wasted about 15 tokens to confirm the following things:
-This is not map bound
-It appears to be coming from the orb
-There is no solution (Relogging or remapping)
-It is invariable, if you are affected, just stop trying.
Thank you for doing this. I was so incredibly frustrated after two attempts that I could not go on.
For Devs, I’d like to add that both times before I went in, nobody had been in the arena I was using recently. I checked to make sure it was empty because of other bugs where the Ooze adds are left inside the arena after it finishes.
Also, I was definitely hit by knockdown after I’d killed the only visible orb in the room twice in a row so I’m unsure as to the Origin but Ominous Fire may know more than me.
Are Devs just not to respond to serious bug reports with information?
Please, either ask me for more information or tell us you are working on fixing the bug.
I assure you, Liadri is 100% definitely bugged with the knockdowns, it is reoccurring and needs to be fixed.

I have also experienced the bug Travlane mentioned and made a thread about it since it was so bad, reocurring and blocking progress.

This is a bug that happened to me two attempts in a row fighting Liadra. In between the attempts I waypointed back to the central waypoint in the zone and ran to Liadra.
The moment I enter the arena, I am knocked down (not pulled). This is frustrating and prevents me from killing the first orb before it pulls me.
So I get pulled, I kill the orb and then between one to five seconds later, I get hit by a second knockdown. This is again not a pull, it has no source that I can determine. Both times, the second random knockdown has forced me in to an AoE zone removing control of my character.
This challenge is already hard and has what could be considered design problems without a perma-knockdown bug.
Every class has a way to remove cripple, use it.
Try reading a post before you reply to it next time.
“Two my utility skills are already taken up just surviving Phase 1 meaning I only have one space left for a condition removal skill. It has a forty second cooldown. I have to rebuild all my traits to get even a single extra condition remove which leaves me much weaker than it seems I need to be to complete it within the time limit.”
You can dodge it
There is a literal limit to how much I can dodge more than half the room being covered in AoE, multiple one hit kill adds and now perma-cripple.
There is a pattern to how the aoe works it rotates sections of the room u can outrun it
Yes but because of cripple, dodging a boss, killing orbs and trying to avoid one hit kill adds, it’s not always possible to get to the safe zone on time.
Then, you have to dodge and as soon as you have to start dodging, the whole thing falls apart because you’re vulnerable to perma-cripple.

Bump for visibility. I’m here representing 40+ members of my guild of almost 400.
We would like to know Devs are at the very least aware of the problem.
There are a huge host of other problems with this fight like the god awful camera or the completely random orbs but the biggest flaw to me seems giving the boss an almost perma-cripple in the phase where her AoE doubles in size.

I have to rebuild all my traits to get even a single extra condition remove which leaves me much weaker than it seems I need to be to complete it within the time limit.
For people with only one level 80 character, I ask you PLEASE change this as it is making what should be a challenging but rewarding fight near impossible and incredibly frustrating. I’m ok with a challenge but when the reason I lose is because of negligence for class balance in design, it makes me want to stop playing the game.
Chesed, I definitely agree that Weirwynn is correct here.
There are definitely things wrong with Kiel and her campaign but it’s just incorrect to say that she’s a Mary Sue. I know this is a Gary Stu (male Mary Sue equivalent) but Wesley Crusher is the perfect example if you’ve ever seen Star Trek: TNG. Young, attractive kid is incredibly intelligent and has the answer to every problem.
Ellen fits the ‘thrown above her rank by events in the story’ bit but she doesn’t have some sort of magical problem solving ability. If anything, she’s a total tool that relied on us to fight her battles and is getting manipulated by a Norn.
Lore is typically information about ancient or at least distant events which has been passed down generation to generation by word of mouth (not unlike Folklore).
Thaumanova is very much recent history, the ruins are still smoking and producing monsters, they’re still cleaning it up. I would not consider it Guild Wars lore. There’s a chance it ties in to the current dragon thing but again, that’s Current Events not lore.
That is not to say I think it has no place. As I’ve mentioned before in this thread, I think with the votes being so evenly split what’s clear is that the players deserve for both to be made (Though it’s fair if they make Thaumanova first since it won).
Clouded, your metaphor makes zero sense and here’s why.
Money is not people. Money is not sentient. When asked to choose 52% or 48% of the money, if you pick 52% then 48% of the money isn’t going to be consciously very disappointed and disheartened. 48% of the money hasn’t given ANet £50 expecting a video game with regular updates and new dungeon content.
This is not a real life election. This is not a choice between big piles of money. This is ArenaNet making a mistake and holding much needed content hostage over a technicality. This is 48% of the consumers of a product being told they don’t matter. Your metaphor doesn’t make sense in the context of this scenario.
I said votemore NOT crymore.
Simply put if I offered you a choice of a portion of $10,000,000.
You have 2 options to chose between 52% and 48%.Would you take 48% or 52%?
One is clearly the majority the other while not insignificant is not as great.
That metaphor has literally nothing to do with what we’re talking about. Strawman argument.
It’s also fairly important to consider that RP is actually baked right into the game as well with us choosing our own character origins, our own Order to work with/for and even making in character decisions while talking to some NPCs.
I think though the point is that Ellen winning shouldn’t deny us Fractal content which is totally unrelated to the living story. Yes, Ellen should win the captain’s council seat etc because that’s what the vote decided.
It should not however mean that ANet outright refuses to develop content 48% of the votes want because of a technicality. The players deserve both Fractals.
What’s funny is that if Evon had won, all the Evon supporters would be telling the people who wanted the Reactor Fractal to “suck it up” because “even if it was 52%, Evon won, and that’s that.”
Irrelevant. Those people saying ‘Evon won and that’s that’ would be in the wrong in this scenario.
If Evon had won by such a small margin, it would have been equally acceptable to say ANet should make Thaumanova as well. The issue here isn’t which candidate won. The issue is that the player base is split right down the middle and catering to one half but not the other is an awful decision.
If you don’t like the outcome /votemore not /crymore
What a terrible attitude to have, I’m glad you’re not a game developer.
You don’t take 48% of your player base’s desires and say “Cry more”. You realise you’ve made a mistake in tying Fractals content to Living Story content and announce that both will be released in time, Thaumanova will just be first as per the player vote.
Yeah there was an official forum post by a developer very bluntly stating “We will make one and one only”, even though the official news post referred to the winning Fractal as ‘made by the end of the year’ and not ‘the only one of the two to be made’.
My hope is that there was a serious case of misinformation with this developer, that he will apologise for spreading misinformation and that ANet will in fact give us Abaddon next year at the least.
Frankly I’d like to see them divert extra man power to the Fractals team given the player response but at the least, they should announce they’re developing Abaddon eventually.
The fact that there are a huge flood of ‘Give us Abaddon’ posts shows above all else that ArenaNet has made a mistake.
They shouldn’t have held this content hostage, they DEFINITELY shouldn’t have allowed one of their employees to say “We will only ever develop one” on the official forum.
If the vote had been a massive landslide to one candidate my argument would not have worth but when the vote is literally almost 50/50, refusing to make half the content because of a technicality is nothing less than insulting.
Yes Olba, gameplay is the interaction with the content designed to be played in the game. Roleplaying is coming up with your own content, inside the game world. They are two different things and roleplay does not affect gameplay.
The term “RPG” refers far more towards a progressive, stat based game set in a fantasy world where you fight monsters. In the same way that JRPG doesn’t literally mean an RPG from Japan.
If there was less than 5% between the candidates and you could reasonably argue that the vast majority of Kiel’s voters were voting for the Fractal then yes, it would also be unreasonable of ANet to not make the Thaumanova Fractal.
What this vote has proven is that the players want BOTH. We don’t want ANet to hold much needed content hostage when there is already a lack of new dungeons etc.
For them to refuse to make both Fractals at this point is essentially telling almost 50% of their player base to go screw themselves because their opinions have 2% less value than the other group.
Edit: I do think you can definitely make an argument that the majority of Gnashblade voters were voting for Fractals. Not only have they been very vocal about this in the chat, Gnashblade’s other benefit was hardly desirable with a slight cost reduction in the biased RNG. It’s reasonable to assume far more people want the Abaddon fractal than want cheaper keys for a limited time.

Not getting in to why Kiel won or any of the political drama, I’ll just be very simple about this.
The thing that is seriously missing from GW2 is end game content. When almost half of your entire audience votes for lore themed end game content, there is only one sensible thing to do.
Since one member of staff has said “We will only ever make one”, I think it’s time for ANet to confirm they’re going back on this poor decision and say they aren’t going to refuse to make new content because a few percent more wanted Waypoints/Thaumanova or were simply voting on RP principles having nothing to do with actual gameplay.
The guild has just completed a Tier 2 Trek with no problems.
It has only been Tier 3 that breaks for us and it has broken every single time we’ve tried it the last few weeks.
Whether this is because Tier 3 has more targets and more opportunities to bug or there is a problem specifically with T3 I am unsure.
This is one of the worst bugs I have ever encountered in an MMO.
Guild Trek Tier 3 is horrendously broken and literally uncompleteable on Piken Square it seems at the moment.
Four times in a row, on four separate occasions, four different Trek locations have broken and the Gold Circle required to beat it has simply not spawned. The locations are: Verdance Font, Tekki’s Work Bench, Kari’s Hot Spot and now Lynchcroft Wardenship.
To make it worse, when you guest to another server the Gold Circle spawns exactly where it should be but can not be interacted with.
This is a horrendous bug that has happened every single time we have tried to do a Guild Trek recently. It has wasted influence but worse, it’s crippling Guild Morale on an event which already has no player reward. Not a single member of staff has responded to confirm they know about this game breaking bug and since this has happened four times, I would now like a response at the very least.
I had a lot of people tell me to do the JP before July 9th as the Shoulders would be removed as a reward after that. So I’m not sure where exactly it said it but a lot of people knew it was a limited time thing.
Also, it’s far from the hardest JP in the game. It’s relatively short and there are almost no difficult jumps.
Three times in a row, our Guild Trek Tier 3 has been thwarted by the Gold Circles literally not spawning on our server (Piken Square). Are Devs aware of this bug 100% blocking progress?
Each time, we have gotten to 18 or 19 out of 20 locations to be found and then the entire guild has piled in to the last spot but the gold circle is not there. We have pictures showing where it should be but it’s not present on our server.
To make things worse, when guesting to another server the golden circle appears plain as day but cannot be interacted with, presumably because the guild is not on that server.
This has happened three times in a row to three different spots. First it was Verdance Font. Then it was Tekki’s Work Bench and now Kari’s Hot Spot. Each one of them has not spawned but has appeared perfectly on other servers.
It’s affecting guild morale on an event which already doesn’t give commendations, it’s wasting our time and influence and I don’t know whether it’s even worth us attempting more until it gets fixed.
This is more than a little frustrating.
