As a PvP fanatic and kitten Esports team, participated in many ESLs and Mistpedias and Side tournaments (and still do) please take into account my suggestions as they are coming from experience and many discussions with other PvP fanatics that know what they are talking about.
I love the nerf on the sigil of might, and I can see what you are trying to accomplish with the other classes by buffing up the underused weapon sets such as shield in guardian, torch in rangers and what not!
However, you guys have missed out on some major changes on what’s currently considered overpowered and requires a balance.
Starting with my own class, Engineer.
With the nerf of Sigil of battle the ability of engineers to gain might have been shaved considerably which is well-needed for the balance of Celestial rifle engis BUT you’re forgetting an important part of being a rifle engi is not only that its kit offers power/condi damage but it also offers REALLY strong crowd control that can potential 100-0 people (with slickshoes toolkit rifle 4 and turret knockback and crate) making it a 1v1 monster — A fix to that is to either reduce the duration of slickshoes, or add an animation to the Rifle knockback, OR increase the cooldown to the rifle knockback making it more punishing if it was missed.
Another important point is Balthazar runes. That rune is ridiculous. The moment people realize that celestial rifle engineers are not as potent, people will switch back to pistol/shield rabid balathazar rune engineer. Which is incredibly strong for the amount of burns it provides. I think you should watch out for that as it can potentially be the next “Meta” build that people will abuse — better nerf it now rather than wait 6 months for the next one.
Lastly but not least, the toolkit block has too short of a duration when traited.(perhaps increase the cooldown?)
Next Class, is my menace — Necromancer.
The class by itself is strong because of its passives — and the nerf on nightmare runes is GREAT! its a much needed nerf. The 1 second fear on 60 sec cd is awesome. However, there is a bigger problem to necro other than its passives. Its the animations of the skills. The staff auto attacks look EXACTLY the same as Death Shroud 2 of necromancer (Dark path) which is one skill you do NOT want to get hit by(1200 range too? really?). I believe a good balance is by giving a better animation or tell on that skill as it can be VERY hard to see under pressure, or reduce the range of the skill making it harder and riskier to land. The necro is fine, except that its really hard to fight it when you don’t know what they are throwing at you. There is the Dark path, then there is the Staff marks which all look the same.
Which comes to my next point – The trait Greater marks which offers a greater radius to the staff marks and makes the staff marks UNBLOCKABLE?! … the trait is too powerful, makes the necro vs engi match up almost too stupid and too hard and honestly, as an engineer myself, hopeless. Mainly because you can’t Line of sight the greater marks, you can’t use the shield blocks, and you wouldn’t know which marks to dodge since there is little to no tell to the fear mark or the condi transfer mark.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t being informative, persuasive and interesting part of the basic rules of Marketing?
Don’t you want to keep your players up-to-date on upcoming bug fixes/balances to the current PvP? Take an example of a successful esport – League of Legends – They have an ever-updated Reddit to keep their players up-to-date on what they are currently fixing in the game to prevent those crys for balances and eventually..people just quitting this game for the lack of information.
How long does it take for the team to realize that the obvious fixes to the current “meta” requires a shave? does it really take 6 months to shave certain known classes such as engi/ele/necro/warrior and the celestial meta in general?
Is it really that hard to see what the pro players are exploiting in their team comps in the weekly tournaments over and over again?
If anet is an esport fanatic as it claims to be, those balances are rather obvious and should be dealt with rather in short periods than once every 6 months…and BEFORE THE TOURNAMENTS for some reason! I really don’t understand the logic in that.
Anyways, that was my little rant…I think the community is not asking for an immediate fix to every “issue” in the game but rather small, accurate, and pointed issues to the obvious over powered builds/sigils/amulets in this game that requires tweaking.
TL;DR: Take baby steps into fixing the game rather than taking 6 months to fix the game until people come to realize another imbalance in the next period.. There’s no way you’ll have a perfect balance patch even if it takes 6 months to figure out because there will always be certain classes that have an edge over others.

For those who don’t know me, I’m an engineer main that can flexibly play any engineer build except turret engi – The skill cap for that is too hard.
I’ve tried and failed to make an E-sports team as we had conflicting schedules and we didn’t share the same motivations. Therefore, I’m looking for a team that’s shooting for number 1 NA (seriously the gap isn’t that big ). I know it requires a lot of work and time — both which I already am doing.
That being said, I’m willing to help whichever team I join with criticisms and I myself welcome all criticisms no matter the quantity the more the better!! (good luck finding them tho :P).
However, I’m not looking for an amateur team but one that actually has taken part in competitive teams… to put it bluntly there is nothing any engi out there that can do something I can’t.
Honestly speaking, mechanically i’m solid, however, my rotations are far from perfect but I have a deep understanding of my role as an engineer. That is mainly because I haven’t been in a team that has a good understanding of rotations, but hey! I’m a fast learner.
Currently rank 75 leaderboards (not that it matters), participated in the past go4 cups with friends and pulled out close games…— Not sure what is left to say, i can use TS im 21 and I like chocolates? uhh..mail me in game ASAP!!!
Elementalist against Engineers is a 60-40 match up if not more towards an elementalist to win that 1vs1. Regardless of the outcome if they are both playing celestial amulet meta builds, d/d celestial ele will outlast the engineer in a very long 1vs1 and win that 1vs1. Engineer has a fair chance to win that 1vs1 if they time their grenades and land the knockbacks. Regardless of the outcome, its a very long 1vs1 that is usually won by the ele in high levels of play.
This Post will just include my opinion on balance changes that can be considered in future patches. I apologize for grammar mistakes as English isn’t my first language. Most of what I will write below is commonly known in the PvP community, as I have been a part of recently (also known as “Paw Paw”) , and are well agreed upon. However, I’ll add my own reasoning to it.
I’ll only discuss the 3 Pillars of the NA meta since I feel these balance issues should be urgently addressed before any other major change: Celestial D/D ele, Terror Necro, and Celestial Engi.
Celestial D/D ele is no joke, its balance issues is just mathematical. The way the class can stack might so readily and easily makes the Stats of the class higher than any other class in game, adding to that the sustain it offers via seemingly infinite protection upkeep and health regen and has a decent condi clear for itself and its allies. One can argue it is because of how Sigil of battle gives 3 might stacks per swap, the amount of blasts the class has, and the runes that makes it an easier job to maintain those stacks.
In my opinion Classes that has boon strips such as mesmer/thief can be the counter play to the might stacking as they will strip/steal the might of the ele, but there are other things to take account for, The protection upkeep, the insane health regen it gets with celestial amulet, its own inert health regen, and still manages to deal substantial amount of burns/damage in Fire atunement. This spec requires serious attention and an immediate nerf in the future patch notes (I would love if there was a small patch update just to nerf this lol)
- My suggestion* is to shave the celestial amulet stats and reduce the amount of might stacking sigil of battle can give per swap while having a little shave on the amount of base health regen the class has.
I will end this section with saying that there is NO situation that a d/d ele does not belong. It can 1v1 and win against most if not all specs, 2v2, 3v3, hold 2v1s for a good amount of time and manage to peel off a fight if needed.
My other class that I will touch on is Terror Necro. Unlike celestial d/d ele, the power of this class does not come from the amulet/sigils. The core of its “power” is from the passive fears that has a very challenging counter play. For a class to have 4 fears in total ( 2 passive fears from nightmare proc and reaper’s protection ) and with the introduction of the new trait Dark path having 8 boon strips every 40seconds and 3 every 15 seconds if traited is just absurd in my opinion.
*My suggestion * is to completley remove nightmare rune active as it has no counter play. Add more tell to the animations of certain necromancer skills (Death shroud 2 has the same animation of a staff auto attack, and Corrupt boon has an extremely hard tell on its active). Finally, slightly nerf the amount Fear damage does…the fact a necro can 100-0 a medium armor class is just too much. Before criticizing me about the animations, these tells are not ment for 1v1s but more for 2v2 or bigger scenarios in which important skills that can potentially turn the whole fight around should be somewhat identified (take earth shaker for an example)
Finally, Celestial Rifle Engi. There has been a lot of complaints about this built. The benefit of the build comes from celestial amulet and the insane amount of CC it offers. I won’t go too deep on the class as its almost balanced. All what needs to be done is have more tell on the rifle knockback, add more of a window on IP as 7 second burn on a 10 second cooldown is just absurd, and possibly increase the cooldown of toolkit block.
A lot of the reason that counter classes to the top 3 are not played in high level play, in NA meta at least, is because they get hard countered by the way current celestial classes play the games (3 point small skirmishes). What is frustrating about the balance changes is it is indeed obvious that these 3 classes have been rampaging in the past 2-3 months without any indication of a nerf. I really hope we don’t have to wait for another 6 months for a good balance change. (Also don’t forget to nerf balthazar runes and mercy runes lols)

I’m an engi main that has been team queuing with friends for a good amount of time and has good experience of the current meta, and has a solid idea on how this game is supposed to be played (in terms of rotations/communications/match-ups/etc.)
I’ve been queuing with my friends recently and unfortunately most of them are in full teams. However, this is a good opportunity to meet new people and possibly form a long-term team.
I’m not a demanding person but I do tend to criticize people a lot after matches, however, I don’t really BM then in anyway or create drama in teams. I’m very laid back and I really believe in #ESports!!!111
I’m comfortable on cele triple kit and p/p rabids and can mechanically compete with higher tier players (however I still believe they are better mechanically and teamplay due to the experience gap they have over me.)

I completely agree with this post. The issue was not with the weapon set it was with the acrobatics trait line. Moreover, the proc of sigils of air and fire makes the lack of contribution to damage viable which made s/d broken.
Instead of fixing something that is clearly broken, you trashed a viable weapon set that rewards skill play? Really questionable decision there anet

Hello ANet,
I recently found a bug in two of the Beast mastery blue major traits ; Commanding Voice ( Reduces recharge rate of Pets F2 Skill by 20%) and Speed Training (Reduces recharge of Pet’s skills by 10%).
The bug is that they do not really reduce the cool downs of the skills.
However it did work pre-patch.
Note that I have tested this in SPvP in and out of combat. Please fix it!!
