Atm we have many functions on the Escape key, stop ability activation, drop target, stop auto-running, open menu.
Would be nice if we got separate key-binds for
- toggle auto-targeting
- drop target
- stop ability activation (nope, Stow/Draw Weapon doesn’t work universally)
- open menu
Has been unsuccessfully requested before, though.

Because the Mesmer motto is twice the work for half the results.
From a player enjoying engineer and mesmer class… engineer requires clearly more effort & coordination, sry.
Generally I would not worry about the gyros at all. From the POI vid & the turret balance (aka obliteration) I presume to expect they whole set of gyros will die from one Mirror Blade + Mind Stab.
Also running with many kits offers so much more flexibility and, if just hopping from kit n’s strongest damage ability to kit n+1’s, superior punch.
So don’t expect to be confronted with those gyros alot. I don’t think I will use them, beyond trying, on my main char. And when you do, oh joy, you met an opponent who forsake both flexibility & punch for cute steam-punk gizmos. ^^
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
To judge our elite spec appropriately we should probably forget about the gyros and focus on the rest (incl. gyro Toolbelt stuff). Turrets or gyros that all pop from one Mirror Blade are rarely worth to be cast in first place.
Otoh, if AN designed them to be resilient enough not to die casually, they might be worth a try. But judging from the turret obliteration, that is unlikely.

The argument you are making is valid, the pictures you choose are discriminatory. It seems you intentionally choose pictures from a FOV that suited your comment making it far worse than it seems.
It is bad, but your frame of reference is disingenuous.
I chose my camera settings for the best overview, your mileage my vary, ofc. I assure you, the pictures are quite representative for my experience.
They show both the particle effects and the damage floater impairing sight on the target.
I admit, however, a certain deal of sarcasm, which, I hope, will suffice to spice the debate yet not to derail it. This kind of humor is my permanent life- and sanity-saver.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
I ended up with 445 tokens, being only interested in the potion for 450. This is… slightly frustrating.
I hope we will have more opportunities to earn Mordrem Blooms.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Guys, this is another unnecessary thread about a clear L2P issue.
As the attached images, an example from a recent fractal run, illustrate, reading the telegraphed ability activations is not an issue in GW2.
… Wait a moment….
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Positive scenario: after the semi-debacle with the 6-23 patch, ANet decided to thoroughly go over the engineer class, abilities, traits and their interactions, not only to make amends for the last missed rework, but also to ensure it does not repeat with HoT.
Negative scenario: since the engineer is about the least popular class, most of the problems introduced with the 6-23 still lie unsolved. The work (on the engi) for HoT is in an early state at best, and every dev threatened to be assigned to this task finds ways to dodge or procrastinate, to avoid opening this idiomatic can of worms.
Middle ground: It’s just an unpopular, relatively complicated class, so it comes last (and least).
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Well…. telling you what to do is certainly the last thing I’d want to, but are you sure you really want to use Med Kit?
I’m afraid that might cause this kit never to be reworked, the responsible developer will argue, there is actually one player using it….
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Hope the engineer won’t. Experience show that whatever unique party support ability a class has, the guardian will sooner or later receive, just superior. ^^
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
They (or rather their predecessors) actually used to be quite useful in conjunction in hybrid builds. They profit twice as much from might. Those two traits new placement was one nail in the hybrid engineer’s coffin.
I’ve never suggested or supported them to be joined in one trait, btw. I know it is an unfair rhetoric move, but I refuse to be blamed for other people’s mistakes. :P
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
The kind of question no mesmer player should answer without consulting his/her lawyer and psychiatrist first.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Tl;dr: they were overpowered in a special SPvP situation only(!), so they got nerfed to such a great extent they became mostly unviable everywhere.
Conjunction of over-nerf with collateral damage. ^^
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
It is a synergy trait indeed, the ICD is nevertheless excessive.
Oh, and designing the burning trait IP and the flamethrower trait Juggernaut to be mutually exclusive borders on mental cruelty.
“look what belongs together yet you will never have!”
Best example for what went wrong with the engineer’s trait re-design. :-((
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
I don’t want to have to re-apply the dyes whenever switching outfits, or run with all with the same combination.
That, sort of, reduces the value of owning many outfits. Which reduces the incentive to buy them in 1st place. You want us to buy them, don’t you, Anet?
So, feature request: save dyeing per outfit. And perhaps allow us to address each piece (head, shoulders, chest, etc) separately, like with normal armor.
This is “horizontal progression fashion wars 2” after all. ^^
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Beat me, but I’ve got no clue what you are trying to say, FoRc ^^
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
I’m not color-blind, but since the topic is narrowly related, I’m taking the liberty of posting here.
I have relatively poor eye-sight, so the mouse cursor troubled me for a long time, until someone pointed me at the tool YoloMouse, which allows to change it.
What troubles me more is the size of the boon / condition icons and their stack numbers. They are much smaller than most other UI elements, hardly readable for me.
Yet increasing the overall Interface Size causes everything else to change from already big uncomfortably huge.
Perhaps ANet could address those related issues in conjunction.
Edit: Same about that tiny range indicator bar under the hotbar icons. I’ve tried to use a magnifier tool (OnTopReplica), without very convincing results, though.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.

Thanks for gift, really good looking outfit. I’m actually a fan of switching outfits whenever appropriate, which brings me to a request…
→ Can we save dyes per outfit? It’s annoying to have to write down & re-apply the dyes whenever switching, or run with a “one size fits all” dyeing.
That, sort of, dimishes the value of owning many outfits. Which reduces the incentive to buy them in 1st place. My, what a horribly subtle hint. ^^
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Guys, no1 here is asking for a free ride. Not for one upgrade component to rule them all, not for all of them available without cost.
→ Just for a few slots in legendary equipment to put previously acquired runes/sigils in, to switch along with the stats, so the latter makes sense at all.
Don’t reject and bash a reasonable request for what was never asked.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
So Legendary armor needs a way to save multiple runes to it otherwise the stat-swapping feature will be pointless. I think you should be able to add runes to the armor permanently or maybe there are a limited number of slots snip
I support this rune library concept and the analogous sigil library for legendary weapons. Like the last 100 times it was suggested.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
I could agree to a special title.
[Other character]’s Spouse.
And then if you split up, you get another title:
It’s Complicated.
… And the suggested ability to teleport to the other’s location is altered to sending conditions, preferably poison, torment and bleeding.
And tap the Ex’s vault, unless he/she/it makes a successful saving throw against lawyer.
Also your Ex retains a copy of in-game your friend list, usable for a crusade of libel and slander lasting for the remainder of your lifes.
If your character was male, you will never see your alts under 18 again, ofc.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Remember how Mickeysoft bought the right to use “Start Me Up” by The Rolling Stones to celebrate the launch of their ostensibly new-age OS Windows 95, referencing the new start button?
Well, the 6-23 patch (corrected) certainly marked a turning point in GW2’s history, so perhaps ANet should do the same.
Let’s start a suggestion list:
- “The Ring of Fire” (Johnny Cash)
- “Light My Fire” (The Doors)
- “Firestarter” (The Prodigy)
- “Burn” (Deep Purple)
- “The Day the Earth Caught Fire” (City Boy)
- “We didn’t start the fire” (Billy Joel) (kitten yes you did ^.^)
- “Fight Fire With Fire” (Metallica)
- “Rapid Fire” (Judas Priest)
- “Burnin’ for You” (Blue Oyster Cult)
- “Play With Fire” (The Rolling Stones)
- or plain and simple “Fire” by Arthur Brown?
or, perhaps, referencing everything else:
- “Pluto” by Björk?
To foreclose the ubiquitous “mimimi, l2p, whatever” background noise, my engineer torches a target in rabid gear faster than he could kill in berserk armor. ^^
Edit: wrong date, 6-28->6-23, can’t correct the title *shrug

The moral of the story: It indeed can always get worse.
RIP, Raúl Juliá.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
This isn’t really a solution because if you want to do a pull – grenade barrage combo and get blinded when you pulled your target you can’t just throw normal nades to remove the blind and then grenade barrage. There are a lot of “random” blinds in this game mostly from ele ( when you get burned by an ele you get blinded) so this solution isn’t all that great.
But then again, when do you ever get burned by an elementalist? Oh, wait…
I’m not playing every class actively, but it seems to me the engineer is by far the number one bugged.
Hey Anet, do you homework! -.-
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
(Atomic) Cannoneer.
Kitten yeah.

Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
I second the request to change The Pledge and Chaotic Dampening to flat 20% cooldown reductions.
The former is only strong with stealth-biased PU builds, and there it is almost too strong.
The latter, well, plainly sucks, even if we follow the push to Chaos Armor as much as possible.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Hexed & Arctic Explorer Outfit!
Whatever you post here, will not influence what we will be getting in the next 3 weeks.
Nope, but perhaps for the next? ^^
Edit: Just while we’re at the topic, saving the dyes per outfit would be a nice QoL improvement. Having different outfits and switching them is annoying if you need to remember and re-apply the dyes over and over.

I am actually convinced our Great Unknown is hiding in plain sight; it is MarjorEE!
Worse yet, she’s not trying to help. It’s the classic narrative twist of a ostensive friend shaping up as the story’s antagonist, manipulating the protagonist along her scheme all the way.
She is wearing a long black leather coat even in the hottest climate; that outfit is practically screaming “I’m secretly evil”. Imagine how she must smell under that. -.- Also it is bringing up reminiscences from the less-than-glorious german past.
Probably, like known from D&D, a dragon clandestinely walking the world in magically gained human shape.
I’m scared to think about what she might have done with my cute little grey gnome while he was in the memory seed induced vision. Creeeepy!
Oh, spread the message and the hashtag, must warn Tyria before her evil setup unfolds! #MarjoryIsEvil
Otherwise we’re steering towards the next cataclysmic turn, the The Searing and the The Cataclysm were just the beginning!
Oh, also I want a sword, focus and a scepter skin in her idiosyncratic style in the Gem Shop!
/em increasingly loses it
/em runs, manically laughing, back into his home instance

Sounds funny… hope it returns in the current sales, I’d give it a try.
Oops, non-canonical opinion.

Home instance nodes discount & I’ll buy them all. ^^
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
I missed the opportunity to get some of the account-bound event rewards, like probably almost everyone. Unlike most rewards those are missing in the Laurel Merchant.
Any chance you could add them please, ANet?
My list:
- Gift of Magnanimity
- Mini First Mate Horrik
- Recipe: Superior Rune of Perplexity
If someone else also misses further rewards, I suggest to list them here.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Yeah, I always felt the urge to ascend to super-villainhood anyway. Hope we’ll get a many and multi-purposed minions, I’m thinking of a
- Melee DD,
- Defensive minion, and a
- Elite: Minion of Steel,
just to start with.
Disclaimer: pictures aren’t my work ofc.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Jester/Harlequin please.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Engineer is still one of the most interesting, versatile classes in GW2. Trouble is, seemingly Anet had three guidelines when reworking the engineer traits;
- find synergizing ones and either kill the synergy or place them in the same line and tier, so they will exclude each other;
- identify those must-have augmenting traits almost everyone uses with the respective kits or weapons, promise to include them as baseline and then omit it;
- rid half the remaining traits with bugs.
And then return to their trademark passive-aggressive “what, I’m not talking to you” communication style for weeks while the engineer community begs for life signs.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Another mini I’d like to see is a ‘Mini Me’. A mini identical version of your character – even what they wear and wield. I think it would be a great addition because it would sell like hotcakes. I mean, who wouldn’t want a mini version of their character?
Yesyesyes, [wtb] Mini(er) Me! Army of Me! Shiny! ^-^
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Thanks, ANet, for patching in the rifle range traits “as baseline”.
… which, naturally, only leads to the question if we can get the once advised bomb kit & pistol traits delivered in addition?
Give ‘em an inch and they’ll take a mile, hmm? ^.^
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
All the time….
Edith: Oh noes, just canceled buy orders for some hundred gold, yet the delivery box stayed empty! Hlep!
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
(edited by Plok.5873)
Thanks for compiling these in a single place. We’ll be trying to address most, if not all, of these issues as soon as we’re able.
Don’t mean to nag you guys, but it’s been a month since and we still don’t even know what is an issue to be corrected and what is design.
… A life sign, pretty please? ^^
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
There is already a consolidated & very extensive thread about all the bugs haunting the engineer since 06-23.
I suggest using that one, also to keep it active (and pushed). Our class definitely needs a ton of polishing. Unfortunately Anet didn’t leave feedback in it yet. -.-
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Considering the number of issues listed here some statement from ANet would be most welcome.
I’d particularly like to know about the missing baseline traits; is this an oversight or a design decision?
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
The one thing I DO want to see on Kinetic Battery – please give us a buffbar icon showing when the battery is off cooldown, like Streamlined Kits.
This. And perhaps change the 8s threshold to apply to the respective toolbelt ability’s buildup start. Not the end.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Perhaps we should add the Med Kit for it’s overall performance to the list?
Should I ever spent my time in a fight providing providing so marginal support I’d probably be kicked out.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
A rather minor bug, but still bothering me: Mortar Kit can not be equipped while in the air unlike all the other kits.
Being unable to stow kits after stepping over a pebble is imo worse; “Can’t drop bundles in the air”….
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
If you defend the current grenade, you’re insane.
That’s the most urgent problem to fix. All the others might be a nuisance to engineer players.
The grenade damage output however is balance-breaking for everyone (else ^.^).
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Legendarys are superior because:-
1) Look more awesome skin wise.
2) Can select any stat combo you want.
3) A promise from the devs that they will always have the best ingame stats. So if they release anything better than ascended, your legendary will automatically be upgraded.Your best off making the extra effort to get Legendarys really and ignore ascended.
Legendary is not are superior because you can build several ascended weapons with different stats and sigils for different builds for the price of one legendary. Which you will normally want to have.
So several ascended ones plus nice gem store skins are a better deal.
Unless Anet some far day decides to grant legendary weapons a sort of sigil library, allowing to switch between sigils added previously. Has been requested time and again, last one here .
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
Won’t a Sigil and Rune Library devalue Sigils and Runes even more then they already are?
I don’t think so, you would use/consume just as many sigils, merely on one legendary weapon instead of on several ascended ones.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
I support this suggestion of a “sigil library”, like every time it comes up. Which happened frequently since the stats swap was introduced.
Unfortunately we got never blessed with any kind of official reaction.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
There’s already a jester skin for human NPCs implemented. I’ve been b… asking forever in the Gemstore Items thread to get it as outfit.
With the ANet-typical zero reaction, ofc.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.
My kittens are growing wings. They’re titwings.
A final proof the human gods aren’t around anymore. Or else there would be a lot of people hit by lightning strikes right now.
