Just went to Windows 10. Did a clean install and used the Nvidia drivers from Dell based on version 353.62. And the fps is utter crap. I turn everything to low and maybe I’m getting 15 fps.

In Window 8.1, I was always above 40 fps with everything turned on.

Try the driver before that one. 353.62 has caused a few issues, esp with W10

The Black Moa Quest is unlikely if he is playing on his own, apart from the hunt for the parts ( yes wiki can help ) he would still need to beat the forgeman in sorrows furnace in order to get the lava pot drop ( unless its been changed ) and unless he has full heros to do it solo, henchmen are highly unlikely to cut it ( again unless its been nerfed )

I dunno, I beat the Foregman years ago with henchmen only (before heroes were introduced), and I didn’t have any runes or inscriptions either, because I was a noob and I didn’t know any better.

No idea if its been nerfed, but my heroes and henchies pretty much did most of that dungeon a few months back with me only needing to step in for the boss. The fact that I breezed through it suggests a nerf somewhere along the line!

Randulf.7614

((snort)) You know there’s a physical Heart of Thorns box, right? That means informing retailers well before release date when the release date will be.

…And they haven’t yet.

What they have done is backpedal ferociously, promising “This Year”. Drop dead date 18 weeks from now. That’s not language you use when you’re shooting for 6-10 weeks.

My bet remains Black Friday +/- 2 days. That being the absolute latest they can string this out before Heads. Will. Roll.

Actually, having worked in the games retail industry, retailers are often in the dark until the last minute.
Sometimes they get a week or two’s notice unless it is something massive like GTA etc. Sometimes, customers would go into the store on release day, only to find a particular game had been moved back and no one had told the retailer..
Sometimes a game would even appear early!

So, notice to stores etc is no indication of anything at all.

Add pvp to all maps...

Randulf.7614

There are other problems as well;

- the mess of players training mobs against each other in fights. Will that affect non-pvp players, yes it would cause havoc in the maps as mobs train left, right and centre and ultimately pve players will get in the crossfire.

- People playing pve don’t want to see it, regardless of whether they aren’t actively involved

- the game has 2 big pvp areas. It doesn’t need it in the pve maps. This does nothing to enhance the pve experience and that takes priority in those areas.

- it risks pulling people away from the main pvp areas and reducing populations in those modes. Anet wants more people to play spvp and wvw, not less

- in game harrassment as players stalk others to settle arguments. And the chaos map chat will descend into.

The reasons not to outweigh the reasons to implement it, which is why it almost certainly never will happen.

Wedding will never become a thing in this game, you can see clearly that Anet is focusing all the time on PVP and PVE and wedding does not fit any of this “gameplay”.
This is not that sort of MMO

Some ALT+Tab issues are Windows 10 based…ie: ALT+Tab = screen flicker then returning to GW2. From my understanding these are being worked on and should have an update to correct them.

Good to know. Something to keep an eye on

The belief is an issue with Nvidia drivers atm, but if there’s any direct connection to GW2 that re-assures me the issue is more isolated

This has been a trend for the black lion skins for a long time sadly. For reasons they dont wish to divulge, they are not developing underwater skins at this time.

Hello,

Ive just bought a new pc, upgraded from w8.1 to w10, installed new drivers (geforce gfx 745) and added GW2. Now the game plays no issue, but when I tab out, it briefly freezes, goes black and then returns the game. I also sometimes get an error " the windows kernel driver has stopped responding, but has recovered."

Any ideas? Ive played with the nvidia control panel as some tech forums suggest, but to no avail. Im assuming it is a w10 thing.

Cheers!

Although edge of destiny was the worst writren novel, sea of sorrows was the actual worst of the three for me and by quite a way. It was extremely dull for a lot of it, but the biggest out off was the main character. He had no real personality behind him at all. There were some good supporting cast, but what it boiled down to was a largely by the numbers zombie novel.

Ghosts of Ascalon was thoroughly enjoyable however. Edge of Destiny had enough lore, enough nods to GW1 and an actual Elder Dragon to make up for the writing.

Theres enough to enjoy in all of them, but Sea of Sorrows is the one Id least recommend, personally. Sorry Rees!!

The answer is, we cant tell you. I would say though, you should have disregarded the forum feedback to find out for yourself. Yes it is tougher, but we cant judge your skill, only you can. Many have prob surprised themselves this weekend.

Anet specifically asked for feedback on experiencing the difficulty of the map so they can make adjustments for next beta, so i highly recommend you give it a good go next time so you can make the necessary feedback that is important to them.

Number of mobs at night time

Randulf.7614

The general feeling in the main densities feedback thread was it was either way too much or just right. The thread has dropped back a way though due to the amount of non merged threads.

Personally i think defending against mordrem should feel like a war you desp want sun up to end. The rest of the map should be dangerous, but not clogged. Right now, there are pathways clogged with veteran trash mobs, who are easily aggroed…esp with people training everything left, right and centre.

Having a steep learning curve in the first few minutes is not the right approach. High densities should be gradually phased as you progress

Im fine with the individual difficulty of each mob though. They are refreshingly challenging and make me think about the build i use

A mastery system that lets you see at night sounds really cool. They could extend this to the rest of Tyria. Really dark nights and when you hit level 80 you get access to the night vision mastery track.

Could be interesting. If they made night in VB actually something unique and different daytime, then rolling it out to other maps with their own DEs during that time could be special indeed. A pipe dream though considering the work involved id imagine

Posting here since this is more consolidated than the other thread

Rubi said she wanted feedback on whether it felt like night/day were different enough and that had they hit their target of creating the feel of 2 separate maps.

The answer from me is no. In fact I’m struggling to see where those distinctions are beyond different events and mobs. To make them feel like separate maps, I would expect the following;

- Completely different lighting. A slightly gloomier map doesn’t equate night vs day. It needs to be full on night. Ever been in a jungle at night? Visibility is non existent. Gameplay would dictate it would have to have some visibility, but not the same as daytime.

- ambient sounds. I’d cut the music and concentrate on the “sounds of the jungle”. screams, shrieks, natural calls and roars, the wind, the fires, the creaking ships etc

- access to areas only at night or day. Perhaps vines move and open new paths or updrafts only available at night

- constant attacks from Mordrem – this is already in place, so we can tick that one off

These may be in updated iterations, but we can only feedback on current beta, and these would fulfill the criteria for me for what they are trying to achieve. Its a primal environment, let it play on primal fears

There’s just too much smoke and steam effects – that’s the fundamental issue. That’s the issue and I can’t find a slider to remove it and increase performance. In the Itzl village it was the worst. Why on earth a village should have worst fps due to smoke is beyond me.

They either need to tone back the smoke and steam a significant amount or add in a slider which will remove it for those of us struggling. At the moment it feels like a jump in hardware specs required to play.

Creature Feedback: Smokescale

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

I like the mob, Im not arguing it should be nerfed. However, there is a path which has 3 veteran smokescales, 2 veteran stoneheads plus 3 veteran beetles, either chained or near each other. That’s a tad overkill for trash mobs on a linking pathway, when people are training mobs everywhere so you can’t focus on the mechanics of the mob at hand.

I would either reduce the density or scale surrounding mobs down from veteran level – make the learning curve through the map much less steep so people can get used to the mechanics early on then ramp up the densities later

Other than that, it’s great to see new, more challenging mobs.

If you really want to hang out in Verdant Brink, run around with an eye to daytime vs. nighttime. We want them to feel like two completely different maps, so think about that and let us know is we’re headed in the right direction. What we can do to make that experience better? (Besides make the events not stall out. :P )

Interesting perspective. I’ll have a look at that tomorrow. Can’t say I felt it was like 2 different maps at all, but I’ll think about properly that when I get a chance to jump in again.

This is intentional yes, although they are open to tweaking diffciulty and density based on feedback. Whilst I understand the concerns, it certainly isn’t the case no class or build can solo night content. It’s just a case of adapting to new mechanics and tactics.
I struggled on my dps ele set up at first, but a few adjustments later it became much less of an issue and quite good fun.

Beta Weekend Feedback

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

I’ll bang off a few quick points;

- Feels like some optimisation is in place. The heavy smoke is still a horrid fps drain, but it is much more playable than it was during the stress test

- loved the Tempest (judging by the ele forums, I could be the only one!) Can’t comment on balance, but it was great fun to play!

- not a fan of the map design. Feels very broken up and messy to navigate. I appreciate it’ll be easier when I unlock gliding and that it improves through the map, but the starting part of VB felt all over the place in terms of terrain design and pathing. It also lacked much of a “jungle feel”.

- loved some of the new mobs and the Mordrem guard were suitably tougher. Densities of mobs felt quite high for non-Mordrem though. it wont be an issue at launch due to high population, but long term as the playerbase spreads out it might needs a couple of thins down linking pathways.

Didn’t really look at much else. Will play more on Sunday.
