1. Who here, still come to forums but play the game much less?
2. When did you start playing less?
3. Why / What caused the decline in time spent?

1. I rarely ever looked at these forums until the latest patch. I came here to express concern about the change in direction of the game, and try to find out more about what caused it. I’ve stopped logging in other than to say hello to the guild I led to this bait&switch game. Played about 1 hour of the event before realizing the game’s hollow to me now.

2. Weeks ago, but not by choice. Had too much work going on. Now it’s by choice, and almost nil.

3. First work, then ascended gear, but the last straw has really been Anet’s failure to give an honest answer about it. There was never a “legendary gap”. Legendary weapons were just aesthetic, with the same stats as exotic weapons. Attempting to manipulate and lie to fans after betraying their own ideals is just sickening and I can’t stomach supporting such a developer, despite being a huge fanboy of the game up until this patch.

I think at this point we’d settle for a statement as simple as “We changed our vision, what was said before no longer applies, Ascended gear stays.” Unless of course, that’s still on the table. We don’t have to dramatize it by calling it lying.

I have 0 faith they’re paying attention to who is/not logging in. I was logged in for about 1 hour of the entire weekend event. I’m only logging on in the future to check on the guild I led into playing and make sure they can continue playing if they so choose. I am doing my worst to encourage them not to spend a dime on the game any longer. Ex-fanbois are most bitter.

I don’t see any reason for that. I’ve been a dedicated fan of the game since well before it came out and I’m utterly disturbed by how it’s turned out. I want to make sure I send that feedback through every available channel.

Looking for contact information for NCsoft, Nexon, or their cronies at Anet (Crystin Cox/Linsey Murdock). There are a lot of dissatisfied players out here who don’t feel as though their outcry has been blown off without sufficient reason given. If I’m going to delete a game I’ve been looking forward to for years, and absolutely loving playing for only 3 months, I really would appreciate if someone out there gave a rat’s kitten

214 pages. How long until they realize this is a SWG level blunder!?

I gave out two and quickly contacted those friends to tell them to abort. This patch and new direction the game is headed has me ashamed for having encouraged so many people to buy this game.

Just went out and bought the new Xcom. Had been planning to wait until the price dropped on it but playing GW2 at this point feels hollow seeing as “progression” can just be made irrelevant in a single patch, and the MMOfesto, and trust of a truly devoted fanbase, has been betrayed. I was planning to happily continue spending $10-20 for gems each month instead of buying new games, but that’s come to a dead halt with this decision.

I’m beginning to come to terms with the fact this game no longer has the meaning it did to me just last week. For all this thread’s QQ the game is still great and I wish I could enjoy playing it right now. The reason anyone is still posting is because we still care, but soon we’re just going to move on and not look back at GW2 or any of Anet’s future mistakes. For the sake of those of us who still give a kitten I hope they rescind this whole patch and make one heck of an apology.

Personally I’ve been seeing fewer people log in for 2 reasons: 1) They played the game a few times and decided they don’t like it and/or prefer something else and left weeks ago without looking back, or 2) They have reached level 80 and, although they still love playing, just aren’t compelled to log in every day. (There are also still some crazies like myself who log in as much as they can, but I digress…) I thought the latter was according to plan for Anet. Just keep people satisfied with the game (even if they only play a couple times a week) and when they push a holiday/event/content addition to clean up with gem store goodies.

Unfortunately this has all flown out the window at the speed of a trainwreck and now “dedicated players” are expected to log in and grind for hours in order to stay on par with max gear++.

This is the absolute wrong solution if Anet is hurting for money. There are plenty of things people will pay for. All this will do is drive people to either quit playing at all, or play more but with no additional need/desire to make gem purchases.

Pushing 200 pages of largely legitimate complaints about this decision, and not a word to address it. Fires spreading to fansites. During beta there were devs jumping all over the tiniest QQ about personal story dialog that didn’t jive right with a handful of players that saw/disliked it.

What. Thekitten. Happened. To Anet.

I’m seriously starting to wonder if every dev speaking in the MMOifesto has quit/been fired and NC$oft is running the show.

Just throwing in my rage filled hat against the new tier. Reasons have already been stated by so many other loyal fans to this game. I won’t be grinding for ascended gear. If I happen to get some, there will be no joy in it, knowing that it’ll just be sub-par the next time Anet decides it’s time to appease the WOW playerbase. I can say with certainty I won’t be buying any more gems with cash or gold, nor can I say I’ll be diverting any more suckers to get in to the game, and if my attitude drives out friends and guild members, so be it. I had thought I would enjoy playing, and paying to enjoy, the game for years to come… needless to say it’s been shockingly short lived.

Just want to throw out that Blackgate has had a great community, wvw and otherwise, since day 1. Regardless of this week’s wvw nonsense, I don’t doubt it’ll remain that way. The bandwagoners will move on, or not, and the awesome people here will remain. As it’s been pointed out, open server transfers are not only making any matchmaking pointless, but also all this matchmaking data Anet claims to want before implementing 2 week battles is meaningless. Server transfers should have ended weeks ago.
