Maybe I have issues with OCD— but adding weapon swap is the stupidest thing they could have done.

That’s not true. We could have tried to drink out of a cup with a leak in the bottom, we could have tied our shoelaces together and gone jogging, we even could have put peas in guacamole. It’s all about perspective.

(Also, if you really want to talk about it, check out the link in my previous post in this thread.)

So, how can I watch the POI? Its already done, right, but I checked youtube and it isn’t there either.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get put onto youtube?

Hiya Morfedel–thanks for asking. Mark got the upload going as soon as the show was over, and I’m currently waiting for YouTube to finish rendering now. As soon as it’s done and we’ve added the finishing touches it needs I’ll put it out on GW2’s Twitter.

Yesterday’s POI was indeed intersting and I liked the part with the sound department very much and see how they build up the sounds for the game. I like your idea of having departments show off their work for Heart of Thorns during POI. Just after the release of the game there were interviews with people of the art team about their work would love to see something like that again, Hidden Arcana is a good starter.

I have two requests for POI, the first is for PvP 1o1 I would like to hear something about keybindings I see you use E,R,F,C&Q for the utilities something that is not standard also I saw that Josh Davis had special keybindings for his Engineer’s toolbelt skills. I would love the hear more about that, as an engi I still have difficulty hitting the new F5 due to its positioning on the keyboard.

Second is just hoping from my side but when the Engineer’s elite specialization is announced I would love to see Colin Johanson come on POI to explain us about this elite specialization since he plays an Engineer himself.

Keybindings are a good idea for a topic on PvP101–I’m going to add that to the list. Hugh and I have been moving back and forth between map and profession guides, but with things in flux right now this might be a good time for something like that. Thanks for the idea!

Props to Rubi and the PoI Program

I think it’s awesome that we are seeing some people from different departments talk about their work done on the game. Usually when I think about ANet as a development team it’s hard to imagine faces other than the handful that we see most frequently.

Having Drew and Jerry on the show was awesome and so interesting. I look forward to seeing more of ANet on the program!

Thanks for the awesome hard work you guys put into making the sounds so unique!

Thanks! This is something I’ve been wanting to do on the show pretty much since it began, and it’s exciting that all of the pieces are finally coming together to make it happen. The audio team will be a semi-regular recurring piece (we’ve already got two more segments sketched out to use sometime in the near future), but I want to spend time with other teams too.

My first priority is to not impact any team’s work on HoT, so segments will happen as they’re able.

I’m sorry I couldn’t watch most of the PoI today, my mom’s housecleaners came in my bedroom to vacuum during it … So I just saw bits of the part with Colin, which I suspect were pre-recorded since the blog announcing the PoI had a still image from their conversation. Unless that was from rehearsal.

That was All Live Colin today. The still images on the blog posts and social media are from rehearsals–I just pull some good screenshots from the recording. It saves photography time.

Menadena, Stephane starts the YouTube uploading and rendering process literally the minute the show ends, so the answer is “as soon as is humanly possible” because he’s awesome like that. It’s just that with a long show like that there’s a lot of time where we can’t do anything but wait while YouTube does its thing for hours.

It’s usually not ready for us to put the finishing touches on it until well after our workday ends, so Stephane does that and gets it out the door from home on Saturday mornings.

Donari, that’s exactly it: People with Twitch access who won’t be able to play until tonight or this weekend for whatever reason. My personal suggestion? Do whatever is the most fun for you. Or use dual monitors if you’ve got ‘em. I know that I’m going to be running for my desktop as soon as humanly possible when I get home from work tonight.

that was a surprise

I see your evidence with all professions: I have 1 question to ask you Arena net: RubiBayer: Do Arena net have any plans to adjust the not challenge professions to make them challenge and fun? Like adjust their traits?

Since you addressed me specifically, I can say with certainty that no, I personally have no plans to adjust any professions for any reason. Trust me, you do not want me fiddling with any game code. Ever. It would be bad. :P

Most of us play, but very often on private accounts. For example:

So many humans, so few charr

Why do you think there are so many armor art issues with charr?

You also don’t want me having anything to do with armor art. I’m also not an artist. (For what it’s worth, though, there’s a charr engineer in my lineup. She just didn’t make it into the main panel. )

The Chick checking in, although I generally prefer to use my name. :P I’m glad you all enjoyed today’s show! Here’s behind-the-scenes stuff for you.

Morsus, you reminded me to solve the mystery of Pop the revenant: I didn’t even see him/her at the time. When I saw everyone talking about it later I checked the timestamps on the chat that I was using to talk to the people behind the scenes. What I found was me saying “I can hear a kid outside”. Somebody’s little one was visiting the office and they were doing HAPPY SHOUTING! right outside the livestream room door. Oops. I was so distracted by worrying that viewers could hear the yelling child that I totally missed Pop’s cameo.

Usually if I’m making a weird scrunchy face it’s because something is happening that you can’t see, but it needs my attention. So I’ll try to address whatever that thing is while still giving the devs enough of my ear that I don’t have to say “Sorry, what? I wasn’t listening.” if they talk to me right then. I’m giving my full attention to two things at the same time. This seems to turn into rageface is what I’m hearing. I’m considering a life-size photo of a Colin smile mounted on a stick that I can hold in front of my face at these moments. (Sorry Colin sorry sorry)

ANYWAY. There are several people behind the scenes helping out, and two different monitors in my view that they use to communicate with me. If a chat box in one of those lights up, it’s because someone needs to tell me something and I need to pay attention to it. Sometimes it’s because Jon opened the revenant trait panel and the chat room completely lost its collective mind convinced that the revenant was only ever going to get three trait lines ahem, so Josh let us know that that was a thing that was happening and to address it. I wish I could talk more to you all in chat after the show starts, but it’s impossible. Too much to pay attention to!

So there are a couple of general things that should help with some free-floating curiosities. Thanks for watching, Tyrians. As always, I appreciate it tons.

I was really hoping to see the Mastery GUI. Don’t have to show them all, but give us howw they work in full, not just small teasers.

Those are things that aren’t ready to be shown yet, simple as that. But since we do have some things that are ready to be shown, we figured it’d be more fun for everyone involved if we let you see those things rather than nothing at all.

Thanks again for the feedback–it’s so great to hear that you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the feedback, everyone–we had fun with this one! Dave and Nellie are both first-timers on PoI and I really enjoyed having them on.

I’m glad to hear that so many of you liked what you saw. A couple of notes to help clarify:

Nellie didn’t have the full gliding mastery line filled out. She had the initial ability to glide unlocked and I think thick wings. Anything beyond that we didn’t touch, because this wasn’t an in-depth, heavy exploration. It was just an overview of how the system works and what it does.

Hey, that last thing sounds familiar! I’m pretty much always going to tell you what you’re going to get. If you’re going to get a show about the revenant, I’ll let you know. If you’re going to get a show about specializations, I’ll tell you. If the show will be an overview of masteries, you’ll know ahead of time so you can decide if that’s something you want to watch or not. We may not be ready to do a full reveal of every feature or item you were hoping for, but you will know in plenty of time what’s coming to the show.

For the purposes of this episode, Dave had a lot of information to share as the systems designer while Nellie spent time moving around the map as much as possible so the viewers could see lots of the map. One great piece of feedback I got last week was that the character on screen wasn’t moving around nearly enough, and the view was static and boring. It was a good point—this is a brand-new map and you all want to see more of it, so she kept moving to give you all a constantly-changing view as best she could. I think she did a great job.

As far as player out-of-game projects, Points of Interest is now 16 episodes and nearly eight months in. Player projects have been a part of the show for a long time. On every single show we’ll see at least a few viewers belittle their fellow players’ hard work because it’s not something they are personally interested in by claiming that literally “no one cares”, diminishing the work by making it sound like less than it is, insulting the artist personally, and so on. Of course none of the claims are true.

All of us here at ArenaNet have enormous respect for these creations, the artists who create them, and the work and talent involved. It’s why we give them our time and attention on PoI. They deserve it. All of you creating outside of the game, you have my respect and admiration. Keep it up!

First Glimpse on Twitch.

Thanks for the feedback, all! I’ve found some constructive stuff here and there. As I’ve said elsewhere, it’s really exciting to finally show off Heart of Thorns, and we found today that we had a tendency to get so involved talking about it that we forgot to keep Anthony moving his character around. I’m going to be a little quicker on that front when needed from here on out.

Windu (and others who were expecting all of the things on that list), I’m not sure what to tell you. We outlined what we’d be showing in a news post, then put that news post on our main Guild Wars 2 site, the Heart of Thorns site, in the game launcher, and on all of our social media outlets, in four languages. The information was out there, and didn’t contain any of the things you mentioned.

We did know that people would want to see even more, which is why I decided to add a bonus episode in addition to the regular one. Which means I have a lot of work to do this weekend, but I think it’s going to be worth it.

Hi all, just a quick note on this: Behellagh is correct. Updates like this are just part of that team’s normal schedule.

Different teams do different things, so it’s not a matter of “We can work on the Black Lion Trading Company or we can work on something else, but not both”. The update today is just Evon Gnashblade’s team doing their thing. (Speaking of, did you catch the end of today’s update? Guys, this is a bug and we’re working on fixing it right now. I want to take a second to remind you of two things that we’ve mentioned before: First, if you see something that you think isn’t working properly, please use /bug in game so the right people can be notified immediately. (Talking it over on the forum is fine too–sharing the details with us and other players can be enormously helpful)

Second, datamined content is unfinished and subject to an enormous amount of change, so it’s always a bad idea to make assumptions about a situation based on it.

I’ll chime in and say congrats. This is typical of the Guild Wars 2 community as a whole from what I see in my daily rounds: Players taking opportunities when they see them to make someone else’s day.

The gestures are all different sizes, and it’s not about being able to attach a monetary value to the item given or hold it up and say that it meets a certain list of standards. The common thread in all of these is a player seeing that they can offer something nice to another, and taking the opportunity to do so with no hesitation or expectation of reward. It’s a great thing that happens constantly in Tyria. Thanks for sharing yours!

pdavis, for what it’s worth, I’ve seen quite a lot of value in this thread over the past day. Reading through, it seems that a number of people are giving the OP’s question consideration and replying with both their own feelings and their thoughts on the general population’s mood and communication.

It’s nice to see so many players having a real discussion about the things that they both like and dislike, and I’m finding it personally helpful.

Visteri, I wanted to pop back in and let you know that we loved your drink ideas so much that we presented a few of them to the staff at Gordon Biersch for our PAX Meet and Greet Saturday night.

Hopefully you’ll enjoy hearing that Experimental Ooze Booze and Nature’s Renewal were on the menu Saturday night, and they were a big hit with those who attended! Toward the end of the evening, Ooze Booze was off the menu because so many Guild Wars 2 players wanted to try it that the ingredients ran out.

So from all of us: Thank you for the inspiration!

Anyway good job developers, who will probably not read this, you are the only part of staff I appreciate.

Awwww. I’m sad! (I will make sure that they read it.)

A quick thanks to all of you who took a moment to let us know that things were working smoothly!

All right, there’s no need to attack one another, you’re in the thread because you want the same thing (and hey–you’re in the forum in the first place because you like the same game!), which is to get this bug squished.

That’s the same thing that we want, so it was one of the first things I checked in on when I arrived to work this morning. They’re in the middle of digging in to it and are going to let me know as soon as they have an update.

Double red post!

I wanted to jump in and thank you guys for all of the feedback here–I love and appreciate it!

It’s valuable to hear what you all think, because even though it’s been going on for a few months now, PoI is still just getting started–we’re only in Episode 5 and I’m in the middle of planning for the rest of 2014’s shows. There’s exciting stuff to come, so thank you for watching and for sharing your thoughts, seriously.
