RMT Mails...how do they know?

THe problem is the ANet display name. As long as you know it, you’ll know the rest.

For example, I can send you mail by adding you in my friend list: Thaelyn.2840. Wait for you to go online, then I’ll see your current active character. List that down. Send you mail.

If I am not mistaken, we don’t even need character names. We can send mail just by using our ANet Display Name.

And guess where best they can farm that? The official forums and nowhere else.

Allowed to extract from gw2.dat?

All proprietary software doesn’t allow it. I haven’t seen any game company allowing it either. But, they wouldn’t know you did it if you don’t tell anyone yourself, but since you already posted that here to ask – well, now they have an idea you’re going to do something that isn’t allowed as far as ToS/EULA is concerned.

:)

Now, will they bother? Maybe not, maybe yes. That I can not answer.

'Out of Bounds' exploration: how far is too far?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Shael.4703

It is not bannable. But with the recent patch notes:

  • Fixed bugs that allowed players to go around map edges

ANet considers it a bug. Sad but true.

Anyway, I too enjoy finding places the devs do not intend us to reach. It’s a challenge to defeat the devs. Especially since that it is pretty obvious they did everything to make sure we can’t go to these places. Noticed how few supposedly-unreachable areas there are? It’s a sign that they spent a lot of time testing every zone – probably hired a group of people to do one thing – jump and jump and jump more.

So, when I find a place, it’s an achievement for me. I’m happy. I enjoy it.

However, after that, the other features like “quote” and “report” stops showing on threads I have not replied to yet. It kinds of defeat the purpose of “quoting” for example, if I have to reply first before I can quote a user.

Or another example, I won’t be able to report threads unless I reply to the thread first.

You don’t need to approve friends. People can add you without you knowing it – that’s what the “Follow” tab is for.

As for the other two items, the only possible explanation is that their name-farming script encountered you walking in-game one way or another. For example, my experience is, I get a new mail when I login the next day only after I visit LA or any major city. If I stay away from those areas, I don’t get spam mails.

No, they do not know you are online. We can send mails to people even if they are offline.

Look at the map of Tyria....notice anything?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

I agree. When I saw the “discovered” world map, it’s square-ish. Guild Wars 1 is not like that, even though the zones are surrounded by mountains and waters.

What is needed is the redesigning of the world map so it wouldn’t be so obvious that the zones are square-ish. It should be the same as Guild Wars 1 as far as the world map design is concerned.

Now to those reacting to the zone-based instead of seamless world, I’ll bet it’s a technical decision. Zone-based games are lighter on the system vs. seamless worlds.

Let me add: they also need to do away with square-ish zones.

will HD screenshots return?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I’m not sure what that is but there is another screenshot option in the keybind section of the game that is not bound to any key. I set it up to Shift+PrntScrn and CTRL+PrntScrn. It produces UI-less screenshots, I don’t have to press CTRL+Shift+H to remove my UI before taking a screenshot.

It sounds to me that it’s what you’re looking for, since I understood that option to be the HD screenshot when I first saw it. They call it something else, unfortunately, I’m at the office so I can not check.

Can a guild switch servers?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

ANet divided guild features into two groups: cross-server and server-bound.

Cross-server features are called “guild social features” and currently, these are:

  1. guild chat; and
  2. guild roster

The rest are server-bound. Including the emblem.

Guilds doesn’t have a “home server” contrary to what other people say in other GW2 forums. For an explanation, you can read my post here

My blog/sites: gameshogun & Tomes of Knowledge

Do guilds transfer to new home servers when the GL transfers?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

For Shael:
Members on other worlds do not have access to any of the upgrades: no emblemer, no access to the armorer, shared storage, or weapons.

ANet said that only “guild social features” are cross-server, the rest are not. So the only question is if the emblem and related upgrades do fall under the “guild social features” category. Since you have tested it (and huge thanks for that), it’s now clear that the guild emblem and upgrades that has to do with it, are not considered “guild social features” – which is odd.

I mean, it’s an emblem! Why does the guild have to buy an emblem upgrade for every server they are on? 99% of the guilds out there will use the same emblem, it’s an “identity”, something to be proud about, so obviously it should fall under the “guild social features”. But alas, it isn’t.

I haven’t been able to test the following:

  • After building storage on a second world, is it +50 more slots? Or is access to the same 50 from the first world? (The first possibility seems ok to me; the latter is unfair: if you spend twice as much influence, shouldn’t you get twice as much storage).
  • if you buy the emblem from the Armorer on World A, does it still display on other worlds (I can’t afford to drop that much coin on looks yet).
  • The first one: Since it is storage related, and ‘storage’ upgrade itself is server-bound, the subsequent upgrades are more likely server-bound too.
  • The second item: A good question. Since it was bought already, what happens to the emblem on it if guilds have to buy and design an emblem on every server. That’s another thing to test.

- Anyway, it makes more sense to have the guild emblem cross-server too. The armourer can be left server-bound, each server should buy their own. But the emblem? The emblem is no different to the guild roster, which is cross-server – a guild can only have 500 members max currently – total all servers. Emblem is like that, it’s a social thing.

sigh

How to guest on friends server?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

On another note then, does changing my home server mess up anything like with my guild for example?

That depends on what type of mess you are talking about.

To rundown a few:

  • Will you get booted out? No. Guilds are cross-server, so they exist in all servers.
  • Will the Influence you gain go to your guild? Yes and no. Influence gained goes to your represented guild – yes. But Influence is “account-home-server” based. So that Influence goes to the instance or version of your guild in your current home server. (There is no such thing as “guild home server” in the system.)
  • Will you be able to use the guild upgrades of your guild? No. If your guild bought say, a guild bank in SoS, other members can not use that bank in IoJ. They have to buy their own guild bank for the instance/version of their guild in IoJ.
  • Can you guild chat with your guild? Yes. It’s cross-server too.

For a more detailed explanation, you can read my post here

Oh, if the day comes that ANet is disabling the free transfers and you forget to go back to your server, then you’ll have to buy gems to transfer back.

Personal Story: Forging the Pact bug (blocking progress)

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Shael.4703

Similiar problem, I have rescued the 2nd team, they teleported out of the cave and were all did for some reason. Southern entrance is blocked. I went out the cave and found 2nd team and Traherne, all dead, managed to get everyone alive and Traherne says: I believe I can get us out of here, all I need is your protection while I summon help.
They won’t move. no enemy around them, all alive, If I move they don’t, no enemy on the way to cave entrance, cave 90% clear and clear to the southern entrance. This is still bugged. They don’t move at all.

It is bugged then because:
Traherne is supposed to say that dialogue once you reach the southern entrance/exit after finding out it’s blocked (and there’s a cinematic if I remember correctly). He’s going to summon 4 or 8 undead minions (he’s a necromancer) and you have to fight your way back to the front entrance/exit.

Then he’s going to enter into a conversation with the leader of the Risen that attacked those NPCs you rescued, and you’re on to your final battle.
I am also getting this horrid issue, I paid for a full game, not an alpha packed with bugs dangit!

Just relax. Programs/codes do fail under a different scenario and with more factors involved. Testing it privately usually doesn’t give you actual results – but that’s the problem, there’s no way to test things out-in-the-wild without revealing the whole product and let your competitors copy you or prepare for your launch.

It will get fixed.

In this situation someone else knows both the password for my Guild Wars 2 account and the password for my email account, gmail or hotmail.

I have enabled two step login for gmail and for hotmail I have added one trusted computer. I get a sms sent to my mobile phone.

If someone logs in to my Guild Wars 2 account from any other location than I do normally they are sent a verification email. To be able to read the email and accept the log in they must log in to my email account.

If they do know both password, will they be able to log in, read and accept the log in when using:

Gmail?
Hotmail?

You said you enabled 2FA/TFA on your Google account, so the answer to your question is no. Because for them to be able to login to your gmail account, they need the 2FA/TFA code that gets sent to your phone via SMS or via the Authenticator software for iOS and Android based phones. Without it, they won’t be able to approve the GW2 new IP address email notification.

As for Windows Live Mail, yes, they can.

Regardless, you should change your password regularly – at random times. Also use no less than 16 characters, using your whole alphanumeric keyboard. Something like: JuAFaPO230*({@PKS#M$)opSnlakIy*(j:LKAaFSI@Y#)(*P!HfDN%AL;fkNn;O

I am not gaining skill points as I level after 80.. the bar keeps rolling over, but no new skill points are added. Do you have to do something special to get them?

Are you sure you are not confusing skill points with trait points? You stop gaining trait points once you reach 50 but continue to recieve skill points.

You mean, 80. Because I am still getting trait points past 50

To the OP and others who are confused, you stop getting trait points once you reach 80, since you only get it when you level up.

However, you continue to receive skill points everytime you fill your EXP bar. Now before anyone asks “where are we going to use those excess skill points” – you’ll be surprised that ANet already have a plan for it. That’s how it was in GW1.

Guild wars 2 content update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

But come on ANet! Let’s bring Update 1.1 by the end of September!

I hope not. I don’t want to see them doing what the other companies who are afraid of GW2 did – they released patches, beta, launch, new content, and what not, on dates near or exactly on GW2’s launch dates – 3-day headstart, 1-day headstart, public launch.

Doing that is a strong indication that you are afraid of the competitor. You recognize publicly that the competitor did the right thing and is on the right path. Let them keep their worries internally in their office’s four walls.

Besides, it is better to do nothing and still see the sales and CCU (concurrent users) going up because that’s tells much more – it means the game truly is a success despite the new content and efforts of your competitors.

If anything, new content or major content patch for GW2 or any event thereof, should start mid or late October. Give late September and early October to the Pandas, watch the sales and CCU. If it still goes up and the curve did not show a lot of sales/CCU slowing down, then GW2 is no doubt a huge success. After that, it’s time to do retention

Level 80 Player's Problems With the Undead (Orr/Risen) Zones

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

Just one comment about your complaints…

Orr was sunk in a great cataclysm and was under the ocean for a couple centuries. Then Zhaitan rose it. So all that coral and stuff that seems just “Attached”? That really WAS just “attached”. Sure stuff may have grown around some of it, but still, most of the oceanic stuff grew on top of things.

It wasn’t meant to be underwater… it WAS underwater. It’s just not anymore.

I think they made the zone to be underwater, then decided that since no one likes underwater content, they made it land level, and then wrote the lore around that

Who said “no one likes underwater content”? I like underwater combat, underwater content, everything underwater. It’s different. I even like how ANet made underwater system, like combat, different from land. I can’t drop down traps for example, unlike in that other MMO, I can drop a fire trap underwater.

Secondly, if you followed the development and storyline of Guild Wars, Orr was really destined to surface. Clues were dropped before we saw the first videos and screenshots of GW2, even in-game of GW1. We knew Orr is going to surface 250 years ago. I highly doubt that it was an underwater content that they changed and made into a land and built the lore after.

And I like Orr zones too. It’s challenging. You have to get out of your comfort zone, learn the game, adapt, and adjust your strategy and game style to survive. That’s my kind of game, not some linear, hack-n-slash, go from point a to point b games.

Now to be fair to you, what I don’t like, not just in Orr but all of the zones, is that we rarely see DEs failing. People flock to DEs to get EXP and Karma, end-result 99% of the time, the DE is a success. Which locks out the DEs that only gets activated if the previous DE failed.

Then in other zones, the DEs almost always fail because it requires a certain number of players – but unfortunately, the zone isn’t popular. The same end-result – we rarely see, if ever, the other DEs if the per-requisite was successful.

In that area, it needs improvement. How, that’s up to them. There are so many factors involved, and on our end, we can only guess what are the “checks” or “triggers” involved in DEs.

Howto : Guild Wars 2 - Linux Install/Configuration

in Community Creations

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

The reason why it is slower in Ubuntu than the lighter Xubuntu and the lightest Lubuntu is Ubuntu’s Unity. It uses 3D acceleration, you need a high-end box to get the same level of response as Lubuntu (or the Gnome2-Ubuntu versions years ago).

Even if you use Linux-Mint’s own, the result will be the same, because of the 3D acceleration requirement. However if you use the forked Gnome2 version of Linux-Mint, you’ll get the same fast performance before Ubuntu switched to Unity and Gnome3.

I myself use Lubuntu, it’s the lightest. Though I’m thinking of moving back to Linux-Mint using that forked Gnome2 (which I can’t remember and too lazy to check) version – but I’m too busy playing to even bother :p

Personally, go the PlayOnLinux path, it’s the easiest and they’re quick to provide a GW2 version of the latest WINE release. Then just use Pidgin-Gfire if you want to use Xfire tracking.

A good word from Mark Kern: Quest Hubs Are Dead, Finally!

in Community Creations

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

Just sharing a good word from ArenaNet founders’ old colleague back in Blizzard, Mark Kern, now himself a founder of his own company Red5Studios, developing Firefall. Read his own words:

Source: http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/6710/Quest-Hubs-Are-Dead-Finally.html

They were my fault to begin with, at least partially. You see, I worked on World of Warcraft, the most quest-hub heavy game in existence. I even helped come up with that dang exclamation mark, borrowing it from Diablo 2 and being inspired by Metal Gear Solid.Since WoW, everyone shifted their online quest design to hubs and spokes, and a forest of exclamation marks as far as the eye could see. I, for one, am glad someone finally killed them for good.

I mean, of course, Guild Wars 2. The incredible success of the game has caused them to suspend digital sales, something I haven’t seen since WoW (which stopped shipping boxes so the servers could catch up in capacity). The momentum of Guild Wars 2 is incredible, and a credit to a team who dared to change the formula.

… {shael’s note: this paragraph cut, it’s an explanation of GW2’s heart system, we already know how it works}

Why is this change so significant? Well, I think its obvious by the way players are voting with their dollars by snapping up GW2 in droves. It just feels…new. Your perspective shifts from just trying to grind through quests to actively exploring and experiencing the world. The entertainment factor creeps back in, much higher than other MMOs where players have long since figured out the optimal ways to level. You find yourself starting to pay attention more to the story and are therefore drawn into the world more, like a good book. All this is achieved, despite GW2’s approach of light dusting of story vs heavy and long cut-scenes or dialogue trees. It’s kind of amazing.

The feeling of grind melts away, and you just enjoy yourself. That’s the key, because all long-term (100+ plus) online games are about progression. The grind is still there, as it has to be for any progression based game. But the manner in which we go through the progression of Guild Wars 2 is fresh and unique enough to keep us interested and entertained for hundreds of hours. They did to the WoW formula what WoW did to the EQ formula. You see, quest hubs and such were heavily promoted by Blizzard to hide the fact that you were just grinding mobs to level (which was the original EQ formula). You were, in fact, still doing the same things as EQ, it just felt like you had a purpose and a story that guided you through it. It distracted you from the grinding. I remember early EQ players in beta for World of Warcraft. They would just run out into the fields and start killing monsters…and be disappointed. When I asked them if they tried the quests, they would always react with shock…they never tried them, or in some cases, even noticed them. But once people started questing, it was a completely different experience, and the rest was history.

I honestly can’t see myself ever going back to an MMO with exclamation mark NPCs and traditional quests ever again. Guild Wars 2 has changed that forever, and I’m sure will drive a host of imitators. And for that, I thank the team at Arena.net. At Red 5, a company I founded to try new things, we’ve been cooking up our own version of dynamic world events for a few years now. It was always a challenge to try and communicate what we were doing with our game, Firefall, to traditional MMO players. Thanks to Guild Wars 2, someone big has paved the way for people to learn a new way of playing MMOs, and we’re proud to follow in their footsteps and, maybe, just maybe, contribute to the trend of breaking the mold and trying new things. But more about that in my next article.

Source: http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/6710/Quest-Hubs-Are-Dead-Finally.html

For those not following, Firefall and Guild Wars 2 are (or were in the case of GW2) being developed silently and privately. Yet they both have the same objective – get rid of GW1-style / WoW-style exclamation-point questing system.

So, let’s not assume for one second that “they copied each other”. Probably they shared discussions before and during development – but that is unofficial and not our concern :p It’s between friends and ex-colleagues.

Not exactly GW2 related but hey, it’s an honest, professional, and good word from an indirect competitor about GW2, which we don’t hear a lot. A huge thing for GW2 in my opinion.

  4. Get the items from your bank

That is if you can put soulbound items in the bank, which I haven’t tried. In some games, it works that way because the soulbound flag of items are tied to character-names. In GW2, you have 24 hours grace period to reuse the name of the character you deleted.

In the future, “guesting” will be enabled. You will be able to guest in your friend’s server to play with them. Currently, however, it is still not available because 1 server transfers are free; and 2 ANet is giving players enough time to choose their servers.

Once things stabilized, server transfer will cost gems. If I will take a guess here, guesting will also be enabled.

Why my guild is not gaining influence?

Also, there seems to be a delay in the updating of influence and even the logs. When the system gets into it, it gets credited, even if it takes days. Now as to tracking if everything gets credited eventually, that’s something we haven’t tried.

How to get other faction's armours?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

Some say that you can change faction, but I haven’t seen anyone who tried it. Maybe others here in the official forum have discovered where and how. The only info I usually encounter is that you have to finish your storyline all the way to Zhaitan first, before you can switch.

Not sure how true is that.

Buying Gems, and trading for gold.

in Players Helping Players

Shael.4703

Just an update. Today, there’s always a difference/gap of 7s 5c to 8s 5c, between Gold to Gems and Gems to Gold. Much better that way.

Didn’t they say somewhere that gem to gold would be 30% less than gold to gem, so that way you couldn’t realistically buy gems, then sell them for more then what you first paid?

Oh they did? I missed that one. That explains it then. People who want to “buy gold” will have to spend more, not bad. :p

Also, you have to remember that the exchange rate for “silver to gem” and “gem to silver” are separate. They don’t affect each other, not like in the real-world wherein two-way exchanging affects the value because they share the same computation.

You sure about that?

If you look at the historical prices on http://www.gw2spidy.com/gem they certainly seem to be in perfect lockstep to each other? I was under the impression that there was a single true price, and that the difference between the two exchange rates was the commission on the trades?

From my observation yes. The graph does look like to be similar but the actual value isn’t.

For example, during my play time, the value usually plays around like this:

  • Silver to Gem is 24s to 100 Gems; and
  • Gem to Silver is 100 Gems to 21s

If they are tied together, converting Silver to Gem and Gem to Silver should net the same value. So if I convert 24s to 100 Gems, then right then and there convert that 100 Gems back to silver, I should get 24s – but I only get 21s.

The value doesn’t change on-the-fly, so the factor that the price changed before attempting a conversion back can not be applied. Again, from my observation, the values of both Silver to Gem and Gem to Silver stays the same for at least 3 hours before it updates again – if there are any changes at all.

However, I did not consider exchange rate fees. But still, there were times when Silver to Gem is at 23s and Gem to Silver is at 22s – that close. Meaning, the gap between the two is not fixed too. When the TP was still wonky, I’ve seen Silver to Gems going at 26s to 100 gems, and Gems to Silver at 21s, an even bigger gap.

I’m no trade market expert, I only base it on what I’ve observed, and the only conclusion I can come up with is that the two are not tied with each other.

Well, now that I think about it, when I tried to figure it out, it was during when TP was always down and randomly given. I didn’t bother much after that, I just check the current rate and closed it if it’s not attractive to me.

How does the math in downscaling work?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

In relation to the actual topic, I suspect your gear is scaled such that it’s comparable to the same level item of the same rarity. i.e. a “masterwork” pair of gloves at level 30, when you’re in a level 10 area, will have the same stats as that “masterwork” pair would have at level 10. The fact that you don’t get rarer items at lower levels may still give you a little bit of an advantage. It’s what makes sense to me, anyway. It’s probably the same deal in reverse with WvWvW.

The scaling will NOT be linear with character level in the sense that the OP implies. Are you saying a level 2 guy is twice as powerful as level 1? It will likely be a weakly exponential formula, or a linear one with a reasonably high, arbitrary initial scaling factor that’s not some stat (like player level) that you can view.

What the OP was saying is that, when he went to a low level area and get scaled down, he switches to an appropriate gear for that zone. But instead of getting the 100% stat value of a gear that drops in that zone, that gear gets downscaled too.

  • Level 80 goes to Level 5 area
  • Level 80’s stats scales down to Level 5 area stats
  • Wearing level 80 gear, the level 80 gear’s stats lowers down to the gear for the level 5 area

Then this is what the OP was saying:

  • He switches to a level 5 gear that drops in that level 5 area
    • Theoretically, the player should get 100% stat of that gear, since it is of the level of that area and it drops in that area.
    • However, that’s not the case. That level 5 gear that is appropriate and drops in that level 5 area, is also scaled down the same percentage as a level 80 gear gets slashed.

Down scaling

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Shael.4703

I noticed the same thing. Even though I’m scaled down, I’m still powerful. I’m not sure of the stats of the gear and weapons I’m carrying still carries the same level of stats. The only reason I’m dying was because of the lower health pool and because someone was mob training. But that’s rare, since I love to manage mobs attacking me :p

Oh, the advantage of traits too comes into play here. Still in effect even if you get scaled down to say level 3.
In any case, I always end up helping players that I run across the path of where I’m headed, since I know I’m stronger than them even though I was scaled down. It seems only the base stats (Precision, etc.) gets scaled down.

Server Transfer Questions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Shael.4703

Th-that’s great and all, but I’d just like to know whether or not I can safely server transfer to my friend’s server for a day or two, then go right back to mine without my guild dissolving or finding myself locked onto another server for a week.

You can do that, yes. But I’m not sure if they have a “cool-down” in server transfers.

Your guild will not dissolved. Guilds are cross-server. It exists everywhere.

You can read this other post of mine for more information about guilds

It’s “xx silver to 100 gems” and “100 gems to xx silver” to make it easier.

Should be in the Bug Section, not here.

Anyway, try clicking “Log Out”, then log back in. If that still doesn’t work, move to a new zone and try it again.

Those two tricks worked for me.

Oh, many people claim moving to PvP maps works best. I haven’t reached that point where I have to try that.

Tengu City Location?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

I wonder if there will be a Tengu race one day?
That would be really great!

There is a tengu race :p Okay, kidding aside, no doubt we will be able to play as a tengu in some expansion in the future.

  1. Tengu race is one the most requested playable race since Guild Wars
  2. Locking an area out from access but letting us know officially in-game about who’s behind it – usually a group or a race – is in itself a sign that it will be playable. Almost every game (offline and online) are like that. Only few games bother to drop a lot of those group or race for us to see, then later they let us play as one of them. Most hide them somewhere, make their capital city inaccessible, and just let us encounter a couple for lore’s sake. Tengu falls in that setup.

However, don’t get your hopes up. They may not even give us a playable tengu at all. They can easily say that the reason we can’t enter the new nation of the tengus is because they’re not yet ready for us to know the story. As simple of an excuse as that.

I for one want a tengu playable race, I love them since GW:Prophecies. For me, they’re as important as the other races of tyria, heck, much more important than the sylvari!!

Also, if you played Guild Wars Prophecies, you may have seen a large floating “Wizard’s Tower”. When players asked if we would learn anything about it, he responded with two words: Tengu City. That tower, I think, is located a bit south and west of the area you link.

So yes, that area might be part of the Tengu lands.

Huh, eh, what? I don’t remember the Wizard’s Tower being referred to as “Tengu City”. Also in GW2, the Wizard’s Tower has moved from its original place in GW1.

The tengu race created the Dominion of the Winds much later than GW1, especially after the Canthan tengus were kicked out by the Dragon Empire. All tengus on the planet came together and decided to go isolationists, especially because of the Elder Dragons.

Obviously, as we were told in-game, they’re having ED problems within their walled garden. And some tengus are pushing for opening their doors before their whole race gets wiped out because of their selfishness, paranoia, untrusting of other races, and isolationist attitude.

Besides, they’re one of the old races on the planet. They can contribute a lot in the efforts against the ED. Either they die alone and make themselves extinct, or trust the world again and unite with the rest.

Request: Please remove Anti - farming system

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

Let me enter a code or something every 30mins or so to prove I am not a bot, but let me play how I want.

No way. That is very annoying, I’ve seen games with that and only drove me away.

Whats the point of farming anyways everything is streamlined to a balance anyways whether you play 1 hour or 100 hours you will still be the same in Spvp. No matter how much gear you have you cant out dps the CUE times for WvW so whats the point.

His thread has nothing to do with PvP, wrong thread or trolling?

When was this anti-farming implemented? Last weekend i was able to farm the same area for hours, but i must say i farmed 3 diffrent kinds of mobs is this area, maybe thats why i still got drops after a longer farming session?

That’s the point. Move around. I’ll bet that we trigger the anti-farming system if we stay in one sub-sub-area and kill the same mobs over a certain period of time. Which is usually is the ‘checks’ in other games with such anti-farm features.

I haven’t seen that pop-up or low drop yet because I move around a lot, I kill different mobs, and I don’t follow any pattern, everything is random.
