It’s possible. And I think it is easier in GW2 than it was in the game’s predecessor

How can you defeat an enemy who is 2 levels better than you?

I noticed when I got to level 8 and was following the “chain quests” as instructed, but enemy in each of those quests got to be 2 levels higher than me? I am a hunter at level 8, but the enemy ranges anywhere from levels 10 to 12? I don’t stand a chance. So how do I deal with this problem?

You play the game my friend. Play the game and you won’t have level range problems.

What do I mean by that? Following your storyline missions is but a small part of the whole game. You are missing a lot if you stick to it and you will waste your time trying to finish it because as you have already experienced, it usually goes 2 levels above for each mission.

If you want it challenging, then you can finish a storyline mission up to maximum of 4 levels above you. On my 48 ranger, I was able to finish a mission of 52 quite easily. It just takes some brains not brawls to do it. (Yes, this game require brains :p It is not your former game where all you do is press this and click that. )

I’m sure you can do it even higher than 4 levels depending on your gear, build, strategy, and how fast you can process and adapt to the situation of your mission.

At lower levels, probably your max is 2 levels above you since you are not geared yet and you don’t have traits yet (or less of it). Go out in the world, explore it, unlock/discover things, finish hearts, in other words “play the game”.

Then do your storyline mission and you’ll be fine. _

I bought this game to play with my friends? >:(

And the server is full. So instead of putting ques I can’t play with them at all and have to pay more money in the future to transfer over? Am I getting this right?

I’m not sure what you meant by “instead of putting que[ue]s” since the game features what it calls “overflow”. Instead of getting queued and not being able to play because well, you are waiting in line, you can start playing already because you are in an overflow zone-server. And while playing in an overflow zone-server, you are in queue - so yes there is still a queue system in place.

If you can’t wait for your friends (or you for that matter) to be transferred over to the main server you guys chose, you can party up together, click the player who is in the overflow server and join him/her. So if you are in the main server, you will be able to transfer to your friend’s overflow server.

So which one do you like?

A waiting-style queue system where you get a bar or something showing you “You are in queue, waiting, player #385398320”

Or

An overflow queue system where you can already play while you are in line/queue to get transferred to the main server?

Can you get armor from a different order during the personal storyline?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

Really depends if the armor is soulbound on acquire or if it’s account bound with soulbinding on equip. If it’s account bound you could always buy the armor on an alt character that chooses priory and transfer it to your main through the bank.

I’m curious about it too. I sure hope it is account-bound and no “soulbound on equip” (It’s account-bound already anyway :p )

I haven’t tried buying yet, so I guess the question goes – anyone who have tried it yet?

Why can't I mail items to my other characters?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

Seems you can’t mail items to any of your other characters… don’t like that since I want to have some for each of the crafting abilities and mail between them for items or ingredients. Will this be corrected?

Go to any major city and find an NPC tag as “Bank” (as opposed to “Guild Bank”). You can transfer items, materials, and gold in there.

Our personal banks are account-based, which is way better than mailing to your alts. You’ll get used to it and I’m sure you’ll start suggesting an account-based personal bank in other games soon (It has been that way since GW1, fyi.)

Joining a guild

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

I was actually surprised (since GW2 is not GW1) that the game doesn’t have a “search guild” and “apply” features. It helps in minimizing the guild recruitment spam in-game. Going forward, I hope to see that feature. It gives people looking for a guild an easier way to find a guild to join and apply at their own leisure time; without getting spammed; without getting the feeling of “I better search for a guild, where do I do that? Browse google?”

Anyway, currently, you have to rely on contacting someone in their guild and asking for an invite. You best bet is to register on their website, fill out some application form, then wait for an invite.

Does the Night/Day Cycle change when you zone?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

It transitions. I’ve witnessed a lot of times the sunrise without the sun. :p

But yeah, I noticed that when you zone out and zone back in, the day/night cycle is different. I’d rather have an 8-hour real-time day/night cycle than “randomness”. That way we can experience 2-days and 1-night or 2-nights and 1-day per 24-hour period. (And have mobs and NPCs react to the cycle too!)

What is required to get 100% complete character?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

I achieved 100% world completion today, after desperately trying to get the last few points of interest in the borderlands. My character still only has 97-98% completion in the achievements tab and login screen.

I assume all running dungeons in explorable mode are required to reach the explorer achievements – is this required for character completion as well, or am I missing something else? (Apart from a life, that is.)

Ahh, that’s interesting. I don’t remember the first World 100% completion ever mentioned something about dungeons or anything else. So I assume you did miss something elsewhere.

I’m only at 50% on my first character so I can not help much. But I assume then that the “100%” you saw was when you view the world map with your character? Probably it just haven’t updated yet?

Or, you have other characters? Remember, the achievements we see in the character selection screen are all account-based, it could be that the exploration in that screen is considering all your characters. I’m at the office so I can not check, but I remember reading something like “explored %% on a single character”.

Level 20 too late to start crafting?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

Craft whenever you feel like it. Personally, I’m saving the mats first and will start crafting after I get my first char to 70 and my second char to 70. It can get you to 80 just by crafting [Besides, not much people in the 70-80 zones yet hehe].

Deluxe Edition - Golem Banker

in Forum and Website Bugs

Posted by: Shael.4703

Shael.4703

You get a new one for each character you make. Each has a separate cooldown I assume?

I am actually curious about that, I haven’t tested activating any of it.

However, the Golem Bankers are character-locked. Only the character that it was emailed to can use it. If you put it in your account-bank, your other characters can see it but are not able to retrieve it.

Maybe there should be another tooltip line in this case saying “Character-bound” or “Character-locked” but that’s trivial, not that important.

So anyway, I’m curious if the expiration is character-based or account-wide, anyone who tried it yet?
