If leylines exists that can’t be seen or touched, could there be something similar to a leyline that connects all the Sylvari? Is this the Dream? If so, is the Nightmare Court completely disconnected from it? Can Sylvari disconnect from it? What if they disconnect from this master stream, will they die?
Maybe it’s to throw off the players. She might actually be preparing to slay a dragon. But I wonder, if this is the case, did she already knew the dragon’s location in the first place? She needs a puppet in the LA council because she deemed the current ones as incompetent or would not cooperate with her or would not believe her? Why would she put probes all over the world if she already knew the location? Making sure she hit the right spot? What about the thaumanova reactor, the new instance says the cooling rods were “steeped in dragon energy” and the reactor taps into the leylines. So does that mean a sleeping dragon is connected to those leylines? What about the asuran gates and waypoints? Do they tap into these leylines? And if the dragon is connected to the leylines, how could it have a far reaching influence all over Tyria and even in the Mists, considering the other dragons have limited influence? Could it be that the dragon Ceara/Scarlet is afraid of is the monstrous mother of all dragons? Could it be that there is a seventh dragon, far more powerful than the rest?
While doing the marionette event, players across worlds experienced some massive lag and disconnections, hours before the Edge of the Mists. Was that a test run for a DoS attack, or was that from Anet’s side?
Are Rox, Marjory, and Kasmeer the only conversation options there? Did I miss something? I wish that instance was replayable, or if there are 2 or more versions of that instance, maybe they could make the lastest instance replayable, until the next instance supersedes the recent one.
I haven’t seen Taimi without her golem Scruffy. Maybe she is just a projection or something. Telepathy controlled golems are dangerous, so maybe one of the experiments had gone awry, and Taimi’s consciousness became trapped in the golem’s system.
edit: just played edge of the mists, my theory was wrong, and it seems Taimi has a disease that prevents her from walking by herself, so that explains why she doesn't go down from her golem
Rox and Kasmeer knew from the Priory about Scarlet (I can’t remember but I think it was Scarlett herself who sent the “invitation” to the Priory). See what I mean, who knows how/why they got there. From the little info you could gather, you can make strong inferences that can later be verified (in this case by the writers, but I think they’ll just leave holes, they might be busy with something else). I call this the mind’s eye, see what the eyes can’t see. There are a lot of possibilities, but without thinking of a very strong hypothesis, no experiment or investigation would start with direction. Yeah I guess you are right, they might not have teamed up together and were just there because the programmers programmed them to spawn models there during even numbered hours of server time. They might have not known each other by that time, but evidence suggests otherwise, so they definitely knew each other.
Yeah I guess you’re right. Story wise, she might not have been alone in lane 1 (other than us players who represent hundreds more soldiers). Another commander might be leading lane 1, it might have been Logan himself, but in-game we only see ourselves and Taimi (tagging along amidst preparations for battle).
I do think they should have made an instance in Durmand Priory. Exposition is the lacking thing I find in the Living Story series. Maybe an instance in Durmand Priory could formally introduce Taimi to the players, as well as explain what’s happening, what’s the mission, and why they are there (if they get assignments or just go gung ho geronimo). I’m thinking of a mission briefing scene, even showing a map or some sort (with a military drum music as the background, cheesy as it might seem). They had “scout” programming in place already (you know the scope icons on the maps). I don’t know why they did not do those things, maybe lack of time, lack of resources? I’m not whining btw, the battles were enjoyable (more rage inducing battles please, I enjoy the fights as much as I enjoy the rage of players lol), it’s just about lost potential to be more epic. Please take this as a suggestion.
I failed on my first try, then I went to LA instance, then after several tries, we finally managed to finish the mission. So maybe that’s why I misplaced the order of the two events haha. I think LA instance should only appear once the marionette is dead, but then not all could probably finish the marionette event.
Yeah, that was what I was wondering about Taimi. Maybe the writers could expound more about this, or retcon it?
It’s unusual to have two or more asuran portals in one location. Plus there’s a wooden walkway going towards one of the portals (as pointed in attached screenshot). So, is this a hint of the turning of LA into Afghanistan?
My way of dealing with flames is to flame back. Spout some bullkitten back at them, even if you are really the wrong one or really don’t know what you are actually doing. Say “I’m proud to be noob”, or “I have a life, unlike you loser”, or “this game sucks anyway”, or some other stuff that would turn the flame up. Don’t be civilized my friend, what they are doing is just making you battle hardened in mind and in soul. They are training you by throwing kitten at you, so that you could throw kittentier kitten back harder.
Now that you guys mentioned it, I think I might have been wrong with what I thought was the chronological order of the LA LS instance and the marionette events. I thought the LA LS instance occurred first then the marionette attacked. I think you were right that the marionette event occurred first then LA LS instance occurred afterwards. It’s just that some things just does not make sense or feels right if the marionette event occurred first rather than the LA instance, since Taimi was assigned in lane 1, yet if the marionette event -> LA instance chronology is canon, then Taimi was a stranger to the others. Why would the others trust a very important mission to a stranger (Taimi)? Reading her wiki , it’s either she just appeared out of nowhere and made the others believe her credentials and trustworthiness, or was recommended by somebody else, maybe Zojja or Logan?

After successfully becoming one of Scarlet’s guinea pigs for her subjectively little experiment in Lornar’s Pass, the LS companions began a conversation, at the end of which Marjory noticed Kasmeer seemed to be in deep thought or troubled. Could this be a foreboding of Kasmeer’s betrayal? If the rumor would come true that one of the human LS companions will die, could it be that Kasmeer is the one who will die, and not Marjory?
I’m going to assume here that most fights will not be 1v1, so it will not be a dps race between 2 zerkers. I would want some defense, so what defensive stat should I or we focus on? Toughness ofcourse for pure damage reduction. But what about vitality and condition duration reduction?
They need to tweak warden 3 a bit. Its bombs explode when you touch it, but it also explodes after a while. The thing is, there’s no area indicator of the bomb’s range. Maybe Anet could tweak it a little so that the bombs will show a red circle around it indicating the explosion area.
What are these portal gates anyway? Reminds me of Doom 3, where they were testing the newly developed teleportation technology, only to discover that Hell was the inbetween place between portals. There’s a conversation between an asura and a sylvari in Lion’s Arch, with the sylvari saying she is aware she’s “disconnected with the others” for a split second while entering the gate. So maybe there’s an inbetween world between portal gates. What if there’s another reality underneath the reality we are seeing in game?
I’d like to see the war machine representations of the other races. Humans could have clockwork machina, Sylvari could have something similar to juggernauts in GW:Factions, Charr could have tank-like armored units, Norns.. cannon yaks? haha Please do make it more diversified.
I noticed there’s a pin in the Tyrian map in Scarlett’s lair. I looked around, and the only significant landmarks I found near the pinpoint area are the Luminates power plant and the Hylek and Nightmare Court camps. I don’t know if this place will be significant in the future or anything. Of those, I think the Luminates plant is pretty significant since it has been said that is has power comparable to the power plant in Rata Sum.
Dragons are like bad companies. They “fund” the military to bomb and invade oil and resource rich nations to get better deals for themselves, and leach resources out of the host nation to enrich and empower themselves even more. And the cycle continues, the more they get rich, the more their power gets entrenched in the military and the government and their propaganda machine that is the media. As a side note, heck even game developers and publishers can become propaganda machines themselves.
My theory is that the “wurms” we are seeing are just it’s mouths or limbs or something, and since one player discovered the probe in Lion’s Arch, I expect that when it finally reveals itself, it would be enormous, as in as big as Kalros, the thresher maw big momma in Mass Effect 3. Your theory is similar to mine and I think yours has a stronger possibility. So maybe Scarlett designed the Twisted Marionette to kill it, with its weakness being pure aether blasts. If that would happen, I wonder what weapon would it use? Marionette’s dagger seems too puny if you ask me.
I wish the LS NPCs would get more “personal” with you. Like sparring with Rox or Braham, or dating Marjory or Kasmeer ahem. Plus could you make them as journey companions PvE wise, just like in GW1? I do think it would be OP, and strange seeing many other Marjories following other players. Still, maybe some sidequests with the LS NPCs, or even minipets (sounds kinda desperate/sad really)? How about a mercenary system, I mean they could join you, but others would see the name as “kitten Necromancer Mercenary” rather than Marjory?
Wow, I have been using a turret engineer so I could repair/build while still being able to attack enemies, hearing your case, I think it is just unfair. In the meantime, try using utility skills, such as traps for rangers and thieves. But really, repair should register as something that contributes to the mission. And it does a lot (minimally for lane 4 perhaps since siege are the only things to fix). Nobody likes to do that job, kids like action more, a one track mind. Unsung heroes like you should be rewarded as well as the whole team does. Just think about it, in WvW you get XP and WXP, and repairs register as participation in an event so you get rewards as well. So PvE repairs should register as participating in the event as well. Otherwise, fellow builders/repairers, let’s leave the hammer and just “have sum phun hyuk hyuk”.
Yes please, like the GW1 bonus missions. I was a GW2 beta and launch player but took a break from GW2 gaming. I missed a lot of the LS events, I thought they were permanent updates, too late to realize they were timed events.
Yes please destroy Lion’s Arch, then bring back the past events for the rest of us late comers. There would then be two instances of Lion’s Arch to choose from, before kitten happened and after kitten happens. Also maybe the other races will come to help, like the tengu finally opening the gate to their land.
Or just give it a kiting AI, I dunno, give her golem Scruffy a unique ranged attack or something? Or maybe kiddo could unmount from her golem and fight mano-a-mano.

Yeah, like even (or atleast, good) server/world population distribution, such as not having free world transfers at game launch and a month after that, that would really help the game in the long run. woops
OK to be fair I can’t give a good solution to that either, yet as of now (I’m too lazy to think at the moment, and it’s not my job), but I’m blaming anet for this kitten up, and they haven’t fixed it apparently (I have just recently returned from GW2 hiatus). In fact they worsened it by creating a baby world which I won’t mention the world’s name since it might rustle the feelings of the babies in that world and cry to their papa and mama anet and tell about what I revealed.
Early mornings tend to have very few players. I don’t know if this is an efficient move, but if by joining overflow instances, do the player population get consolidated since overflows are not world based (as I’ve heard)? I mean if on early mornings, just go to overflow instances to consolidate the number of players active? Or if overflow instances are world based, I think we should choose a server to guest for the moment so we could consolidate the player numbers more efficiently.
I see your point. But I think it is a good idea for it to be tied to the success of the event, since some players might just leave the others once they got the achievement, or run back and forth different lanes, not caring if the lane is doing good just so they could get more achievements. I think there should be a separate achievement for those types of players; Marionette Hit and Run.
Evading is easy, you get a target area warning for the attacks. Just kittening finish the mission folks. That big kitten robot is going down! Although I do think it will save us one day.
