i am not sure about ur choice of arcane wave. u want to be range dps but arcane wave is strictly a close range aoe. if u want dmg, use arcane blast for single target or glyph of storm for aoe i would say.

how about we try and let them fix current issues before adding more issues for them to try and tackle.

removing aoe target limit for certain seige might be nice but i would say not for arrow carts. there has been passages/tunnels where theres is only 1 way in and there was so many AC constantly barraging the area u cant even get a stealth mesmer to sneak in. they dont stop just because no one appears to be charging the passage and just standing outside. they only stop after they pushed everyone out of the area. would have been impossible if those AC are unlimited target
and no, the ac was out of direct LoS and ballistas cant hit. enclosed area, no cata/treb hittable.

i never get why people would want to play a D/D ele in a massive 20-30+ vs 20-30+ combat with high possibility of choke points, walls, gate, etc etc. i understand d/d ele has plenty of closing skill along with escaping skills while containing some quite abit of aoe. but why would u go tank D/D when u can get higher dmg on a staff ele while simply stay out of range and aoe everything?.

tunnels/bridges/gate entrance/staircases → staff 1.2k range aoe spam the hell out of it. if enemy want to zerg through, people are going to die. no need to ever stop spamming. D/D ele charge in, combo off, get out. wait for cd, go back in. u have down time and lower overall dmg output over time.
walls→ staff once again 1.2k range slightly increased by height on wall. or if seiging the wall, actually able to hit defenders along with aoes. D/D yea… hit the gate?….
open field→ staff maintain long range ability to snipe at targets and ability to deny certain areas by forcing enemy to move with aoe. D/D charge in crowd, aoe combo, possibility of dropping the crowd.
small roaming squad→ depending on # higher the better a staff ele can provide the support and aoe field for the squad. D/D ele provides a much better small 1vX combat potential, small # the better.

there are places where D/D ele shines but i think most of the time in WvW ull prefer the range and aoe potential of a staff.

wait so u want a buff because a warrior with hammer feels weaker than an ele with lightning hammer conjure. does this mean i can ask for a a 2x damage buff to dagger/dagger ele because thief dagger/dagger have basically twice the dmg for the same burst duration time as ele? and hell its not even utility compare to base wpn. its base wpn compared to base wpn.

while we are at it, mesmer staff does about 1/5 dmg compared elementalist staff. i demand a triple dmg buff since mesmer staff does have some conditions base addons.

i can go on and on if u want to compare based on the simple fact of its the same “type” of weapon. so i expect u to help promote buffing eles to have the same burst dmg as a thief on dagger/dagger because we are using the same type of weapon and in the mean time ill help support ur hammer buff, shoulds reasonable?

i see plenty of elementalist on staff in WvW. probably half of ones i see is on staff. other half is S/D, rarely D/D. i wouldnt know what traits they run but i went glasscannon on ele for WvW on staff. >.> screw support aoe everyyyythhhiinngg

no, u dont always get badges every drop even from players. whether or not u going to get drops depends on how much damage u do to the player. then from there, u have a chance of getting badges. my 5:1 ratio is probably more geared towards dps since they “tag” targets much faster.

check ur WvW achievement for ur actual kill count. i think badge drop rate is usually around 5kill per badge without including any jump puzzle. :-p also, only players and keep/tower/camp lord npc have a chance to give badges.

lol how do u still die in 3hit if ur fully traited and gear for survival. what did u do? go take 3 kill shot in a row without doing anything?. i run full glass cannon(30/30/10/0/0) in WvW and while i can go down on 2hits i rarely every get downed in 2hits, the main threat is really, thieves but even then, not 3 hits not even 5 if u use ur skills right most thieves are just HS spammers arcaneshield easily take care of that burst. theres obviously something wrong with how u play ur ele or u arent geared/traited the way u said u are. of course, if u went and take 3 treb shot in the face and died…. yea sure

i wish its just.
downed->combat res is ok
defeated->only ressable when ressurector is NOT in combat.

god knows i had enough people/squad go in w/e dmg invun/protections they got, res a good 30% of defeated player, run back. wait for cd, repeat. cant do anything to stop it. especially since for most classes, interrupts are single target or close to melee range for aoe not to mention projectile block negates most range interrupts.

badge rate for me averages about 4-5 kill per badge. got abit over 4k kills, 800-900ish badge, i use badges for seige wpn also so the badge count isnt exact.

i wish they basically removed the stupid jp from EB or turn PvP off in it. just had probably 10-20 people in the stupid thing for over an hr clearing out others(lesser in #)who had seige in there, someone spent over 4hrs just so he can finish his jp for the few badges and chances are not even good bp.

personally i think all tornado needs is either some form of projectile protection

either give it projectile reflection like dagger storm or something new.
like for every projectile that hits it, it absorbs the projectile and because its now part of the tornado ur tornado’s dmg and/or range increases.
another way would be it stores up the projectiles as charges and either u get a skill to release projectile as dmg, more projectile stored the more dmg or it can be if u let the tornado run its full duration, it will release all its stored projectile as it dissipates, dealing dmg and maybe bleed/cripple as status effect.

feel like that much simpler to balance compared to basically completely remaking the skill.

XD i dunno about u guys, but i am full glass cannon and i have zero trouble roaming around solo or in small squads of 2-4. i feel like people are too used to being actually able to take multiple hits and survive and the potential of dying in 3 hit is just 2 big a draw back. its not truely squishy until more then 50% of the things out there is a 1-2shot. of course me going solo really means i am not doing what i am suppose 2. with me and a partner we can roll a supply camp. with me solo, best i can do is just a few guards T_T

i am sure it might be a little different on higher tier server for WvW, but people i usually end up facing just arent good enough on closing the gap of 1.3k->atk range fast enough before they lose 2 much hp. i can usually burst down a targets hp from 100% to under 50% before they enter melee range of me. its almost like they dont expect 10k dmg within 2 sec from fireball->lavafont->flame burst->arcane blast (sigil of fire trigger by now). i have even outright slaughtered squishies from 100% to down when my team actually have orb buffs and they didnt>.>

i am still of the opinion that ele should be full or near full glass cannon. maybe not for spvp or pve, but definitely for WvW. on staff in fire we are THE king of aoe. no other class can beat us on raw aoe potential while we are using staff especially when u combine it with the dmg we can spew out. maybe our single target burst potential is severely lacking compared to class like thiefs but no one else will win compare to an ele’s aoe barrage.

i run 30/30/10/0/0 on full berserker ruby set.
XD full glass cannon is hell on dungeon runs. but i wouldnt switch my ele to any other build, and it will be my definite go to for WvW. if u pay enough attention even on full glass cannon u can live for a while.
on staff ull basically be permanently in fire for the entire time, switching to air when u know ull be running for a good 10sec or so without serious fighting and earth->air->water when chasing/trapping enemy runners.

i am sure i dont have anywhere close to the highest dmg dealt even just for ele but meteor shower will consistently hit for over 5k+ on crits on the build my personal highest is just 7.5k with self might stack from fire trait and 1 orb buff. fireball usually ends up 2k-3k crits 1-1.5k norm. if u want to have some ability on solo fighting, i would suggest to make sure arcane blast is 1 of ur slot skills and use sigil of air or sigil of fire for additional burst dmg potential.

>.> i hate having to switch to water for heals so i usually use the food has chance to steal life on crit along with the signet of restoration. usually its enough to heal up the few hit u take here and there. if ur getting burst u are either downed or have block/evade most of them actually casting heal in time is..iffy

why are u using D/D in WvW. imo WvW is all about range, the more range u got the better. let the warrior, guardian, thiefs do the melee stay ranged aoe/support. if u just wanna complain how u think ele is underpowered because u insist on using daggers. well u should reroll

which is why i said ur suppose to know whats around u.
1. if someone is attacking another target, chances are they wont change to u even if u jump in.
2. if u are NOT the closest target to the enemy, the chances of them going for u are low at best.
3. if somehow a thief/warrior/engi can insta kill me at 1.2k range then there are either issues with how blind the ele player is, or u just got haxed.
4. if ur are stupid enough to be on that build and LET someone get that close without putting down to under 50% hp at the minimum, u should reroll the class.(and if they are truely tanky, u shouldnt be there and should be gone when they are where u are)
5. if ur on that build and u cant at least have a 50/50 chance of soloing an enemy at under 50% hp with lightning flash, arcane shield available on full dmg build then u might want to refine how u play an ele.

the ONLY time i ever had trouble with any class is when i got snucked up on by thiefs when they are using terrain as cover to move. warrior coming up to me u should see them 3k distance away and if ur alone, u should be falling back and away. hell, if u arent confident in ur skill, u should not be getting picked off solo at any point. i can easily stay in a zerg and if a thief wants to come suicide in, let him. he will get killed ill get downed at most if even that before he dies., ill mist form back and someone will res me. a warrior charge in, dodge back, flame retreat back, dodge back more, lightning flash away, u got plenty of evades.

arcaneshield completely screws over any thiefs attempt at HS spam killing. and any high dmg thief is equally as squishy as me, i have bursted down truely squish build from 100% to down in under 3seconds before because they failed to dodge fast enough. also, most enemies run away when ur 100% hp, and they are under 50%

personally, i am used to the build and can handle myself on most 1v1 situations in WvW, sure i am not the best, nor was i probably fighting the best, but i am confident enough to come out on top most of the time. gimme a partner and we can easily go around taking supply camps if thats what u want more. basically, know what ur enemy is doing, and know what u can do. there are very few skills that can kill u from 1.2k range and all of those can be seen miles away. and as for enemy closing the distance, make them pay for every inch they move, if u arent, u deserve to die.

if u really want small squad engagements or solo fighting imo u should be in sPvP. WvW is for massive zerg battles, seiges or tower/keep defenses. not for close up dueling.

30/30/10/0/0 for me. full berserker set with rubys and same on accessory (54% base crit chance, 103 crit dmg, attack at 3.3kish) the might be off by 1 or 2 since its from memory but its there. superior sigil of fire in wpn. average hit on fireball is 1-1.5k,2-3k crit. meteor shower is 2-3k normal 4k-6k crit, max i ever got was 7k+ without triple orb buff nor ever more than 15stacks of might. arcane shield, lighting flash, arcane blast for slot skills.
use a staff for WvW. hide in the zerg group if ur zerging, or on seige pop up, then drop down.
i can usually burst another DD from 100% hp to under 50% in 1ish sec at 1.2k range assuming they werent dodging. chuck a fireball and while the projectile is traveling, lavafont then flame burst and arcane blast with that my sigil of fire almost always procs and there goes half their hp over that short burst)
i play the ele as a mix of what u might call seige weapon and sniper. i pop in to drop the meteor shower or drop the burst combo on a 50% player then fall back to 1.2k-1.4k range and chuck fireballs while waiting for CDs. with fireball’s projectile curve and aoe splash on landing, u can hit people from outside the 1.2k range easily even on flat ground.
survivability of ur ele of course is purely on u knowing whos around u, whats around u, whos planning on hitting u, and who IS hitting u, and react accordingly to dodge out. let other people take the hits while u deal the damage.

with this build ur solo ability are pretty down to who fires 1st and who burst faster. but its WvW, Soloing people are the 1 out of 100 chance and if its 2 often it means ur playing WvW wrong. everything should be done in big groups or small tactical squads.

i feel people expect 2 much single target damage and are losing the bigger view. i have dealt close or over 100k damage in a group within 20-30 seconds. let the other class take care of single targeting down people. ill drop them all to 50% hp for my team instead.

if ur chasing people, lighting flash and swaping through earth→air→ is usally easily enough to trap/stop most enemies while chasing.

The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

never had much much problem with invisible enemy until after this patch. right after patch, i ended up invisible and every other player both enemy and ally are invisible. just now, not so much invisible enemy, just enemy that appear when they are within 1k distance of me. whenever its a decently large group of people say.. 15+ enemies, 80% of them wont load until they are within firing range. whatever this update did to the game, it screwed up the character loading massively
