Wow, really? XD Totally different than when I was playing. Warriors were blocked if they didn’t have a utility bar that was 2/3 Defensive abilities. It just doesn’t feel right to be in all that heavy armor and still drop like a fly if someone sneezes on you wrong.
Side note, i’m trying to update the game but it’s stuck at 3 files left. Downloading, but no progress is made. It WAS 70K+ when I started. Restarted the client but it’s still not made much progress (0% currently.. after a few minutes). Is there something I should know?
Sooooo… I pretty much stopped playing around Feb 2013 partly out of boredom, but also because RL was becoming busier and busier.
Now with the announcement of S2, I’ve decided to come back but there’s a few things I want to know before I dive right in once more.
Main was a GS/SwordnBoard Warrior. From what I remembered, I stacked precision, vitality, and power as much as I could for both flavor and efficiency. Is this still a good idea? (Was wearing all purples IIRC.. with a few oranges.)
Had a mesmer I didn’t level too much. Any tips on playing one? Plan on Staff and sword/gun (or focus) because RPs!
Remembered farming like hell to get abyss/celestial dye which sold for at least 70G and upwards of 3000G if you were lucky. This still a good nest egg?
So basically the Asura went for Magitech, teleportation systems, lasers and golems.
The Charr went for tanks, airships, artillery and even helicopters. And the human race went for…. farms/irrigation..
I’d like to touch on this one.
Back when communism was starting to spread from Russia to other nearby countries, many followed suit and built up a large, state-of-the-art military. China (And Vietnam IIRC..) also followed this, but after the death of Chairman Mao, decided instead to work on their resources and agriculture, leaving military as an afterthought. When communism in the other countries started failing because of a lack of resources (usually burned in war or during military production), China was the only one left that had a stable foundation.
Now why does this matter?
Asura are using resources to create wonderous technology.
Charr are creating war machines with everything they have.
Humans are content with their weapons and current state and would rather farm and such to keep a constant food, water, and resource supply.
IOW, if this were Age of Empires then the Humans would be the victors, simply needing to send a steady supply of troops every so often to beat down their resourceless companions until each warmachine was destroyed and they are left defenseless.
Remember, Boring doesn’t equal stupid!
I’d sign up right then and there to reclaim the glory of Ascalon as my warrior (hails from Ebonhawke, ancestors were my chars from GW1 and were Ascalonian) and if any one of those walking carpets tried to stop him, he’d turn them into a new rug.
Silly Lightsbane. There couldn’t be a legendary rifle for Engis because by the time it hits legendary status it’d be deprecated and replaced by a newer, more modern weapon.
Science, Baby!
