If space is an issue, just craft them into Bricks, Stars, and Ingots. You get rid of 100 at a time that way, and they can always be demoted in the Mystic Forge to be consumed by Mawdrey II, Princess and Star of Gratitude. You can buy the Obsidian Shards in bulk at the Balthazar Temple Karma Vendor, or just do Silverwastes Chest Farm and you will get tons. For example, the MF recipe for demotion of Asc Mats is as follows:

1 Bloodstone Brick + 1 Bloodstone Dust + 1 Essence of Luck + 1 Mystic Coin = 100x Bloodstone Dust

Only Bloodstone can be broken back down, the other two don’t have such recipes.

This is true…. but there is only one recipe that requires fragments and not stars…. and that’s maize balm…. and thats one fragment for each recipe…. and its gated to be crafted only once per day.

1 fragment a day is hardly a reason to want to break down any stars you might have.

Dragonite doesn’t even have a use outside of its refined form.

Shiro was already datamined as a Revenant legend months ago, you’re a bit late to the party.

It says right at the top of the post that its not confirmed, because the guy is really stretching.
The only thing the guy found was the text ShiroSymbol which many believe is this ascended trinket .
He also linked a model of a jade shard trying to insinuate that it was associated with the aforementioned…. when players know full well that they can see that in game, right now, in the Solid Ocean Fractal when they throw a reflecting crystal at the boss.

So far Anet has officially announced three legends which the new Revenant Profession will be able to channel. Ventari… King Jalis Ironhammer… and Mallyx the Unyielding…

….but all of these legend candidates pale in comparison to the most important legend of all…

SHIRO TAGACHI

What better way to bring in the new Heart of Thorn expansion than with a supreme bodyguard/assassin straight from The Mists.

  • Mordrem infesting the Maguuma Jungle, you say?
    WHAT JUNGLE?
Shiro can turn all those pesky plants into nice harmless statues standing in a parking lot… Faster than you can say House Zu Heltzer!
  • There’s something in the water?
    WELL, IT CAN STAY THERE!
Shiro promises to turn all bodies of water into solid jade, encasing all the aquatic fauna inside of it forever and ever. Nobody liked underwater combat, anyway!
  • …Plagued by Goth people and Hippies?
YOU DON’T KNOW THE MEANING OF PLAGUE
Shiro will just make them fight eachother!

What are the ODDS that you could find a more important legend for Revenant?

Last I checked on warrior Gs camp has always been their best overall dps and the only reason in pve, for using Axe/mace on swap was for the group wide buff via the vuln it would generate to make up for the loss of dps and might from swap.

This.

Though with the new trait system…. You can’t fully trait into greatsword camp dps the way you used to …. and you are almost encouraged to run a hybrid gs + 2h build given the current trait selection.

Believe me I have lots of stacks as well. There is a reason I bought a bunch of bank tabs and it’s not for unused gem store skins or consumables.

As another pointed out, the problem with mass conversion is the sudden influx into the TP of items generated by those devices. Even mats from salvaging what it gives you could cause a supply spike that would drive the price down for a while.

And supply of ascended mats is not infinite? Well I wager that most people who been running the various trains every night have hundreds of stacks as well or players like me who have 50 stacks of bloodstone dust and a dozen of each of the other two. There is a lot of T7 stacks out there. More than you seem to think.

I look at these items as a godsend in relieving the glut in my bank. One advantage about a limited conversion is that you have time to consider what is a reasonable amount to have as oppose to converting them all and then regretting it for overdoing it.

My current problem is remembering to do it daily.

Why would you look at holding onto the unrefined mats “for the future” as a viable solution? …and try and use that as an excuse to justify the gating.

comparing the storage of the unrefined mats vs refined mats….. should clearly show you which is more optimal.

The refined mats have their own storage space, and they can easily be demoted if for some godawful reason you actually do need the unrefined version (there is a small handful of things that actually do require a few unrefined dust…. and the maize balm recipe takes 1 empyreal fragment).

After all of my ascended crafting was finished I still made sure to keep at very least a stack of the refined ascended mats (bricks, stars, and ingots) in case of emergencies…. which should be more than enough to tackle any crafting that might pop out of the woodwork in a future update.

(Thats 100 stacks of each mat, compressed into one stack in its refined form)
…and I am still bursting at the seams with the unrefined mats.

What were the tactics used? Was the zerg all stacked in one location or spread out with ranged attackers doing their own thing?

Same tactics we always use. Commander Kenage stacks zerg, turrets keep zerg buffed, defense teams clear mobs, and ERT clear claws.

I can’t blame all the dead pugs who won’t WP, because we can normally kill Teq with no problem even with those players.

EG killed teq last night. Still had 6+ minutes left. No problem. Still mechanics used.

Like I said, we don’t use exploits. We don’t use 40 Guardians and their endless stacks of 4,000% DPS.

Here is a video of EG beating TEQ ages ago with almost 12 minutes remaining.

I’m pretty sure they didn’t use any exploits, they are just really coordinated and have been killing Teq for ages.

It comes as no surprise that they can still kill it no problem. (They have 12 minutes to fart around)

GSCH, your claim to fame may be the SoR server, but the best guild on SoR is EG imo.

Dropping your guild tag like it guarantees you into the winner’s circle is comical.

They are materials, not currency. You can’t buy items for bloodstone dust.

You can always delete them if they are taking up too much space or you aren’t planning to make accended items. Instead of being happy that you can now convert them into something you could sell for a few silver rather than throw it away you want to be able to convert all of it NOW.

I’d like to think that the only reason you are opposing it is because you foolishly deleted all of your stacks, and you would lose out.

If there is anyone throwing a tantrum as inferred by your willy wonka image, it is you.

Some of us have been saving hundreds of stacks of these ascended mats, and there isn’t really any problem with letting players exchange them all at once.

Sure some of the influx of crafting materials from the gifts might bruise the market for a day….. but the market would bounce back immediately since the supply of ascended mats is not infinite.

…and the relief on our storage space would be heavenly.

It's okay to fail.

What I saw was people failing to defend the lasers and batteries, getting wiped by tidal waves, and then blaming their failure on the changes.

LOL

Some people are willing to blame everyone else but themselves.

If you were able to kill tequatl before the changes, you will still be able to kill him no problem.

My old guild used to kill him with 10+ minutes remaining every time before the update.

…and guess what…. they can still kill him after the update with 8 minutes remaining.

There are many things that determine how much raw damage you are going to deal.

For instance…. the less downscaled you are…. the more damage you are going to be dealing.

You will always do the most damage to a foe while you are lvl 80, in a lvl 80 zone.

Assuming you have your might stacked to 25, and the enemy has 25 stacks of vulnerability, you have fury, all the applicable buffs including food, banner of strength, EA, your target has low/no armor etc.

There is one area in particular…..
The Ice Elemental at the end of the Dredge Fractal…. who will take absurd amounts of damage when it is super heated.

Also…. attacking fast enough to keep your “combo” going is not how you measure damage output.

ITT: People who can’t tell the difference between cumulative combo damage and single hit dmg.

A mesmer can literally “chain combo” his auto attack forever.

Just because you have a high number after chaining a bunch of hits together, doesn’t mean you are hitting for 30k-70k.

I think Anet had a ton of concept are made that ended up not being used (yet), as most big game companies often do. It could be that this is concept art for an area that was supposed to be in the original game, rather than in the new expansion.

I hope we get to see it eventually, because it looks amazing.

You are right…. now that I look at it the book was published in 2011.

That means this artwork was created for the original guild wars game….

Uhhh Riven Earth is already in the game. The bottom half of Metrica Province is Riven Earth.

The area between Rata Sum and The Grove is called Alcazia Tangle.

The bottom slice of Metrica Province could be the top of Guild Wars’s Riven Earth…. but all of Riven Earth is certainly not the bottom half of Metrica.

It almost certainly extends east from the New Rata Sum

Those two red circles aren’t the same thing.
Here is the gw2 map and gw1 map overlaid over each other: http://thatshaman.blogspot.co.nz/p/historical-guide.html

Notice the river running diagonally from top left to bottom right?

That map is anomalous at best. …and all It does it prove that the maps don’t match up exactly unless altered and stretched or details are ignored.

Alcazia would be the bottom most part of the area we would potentially get as an explorable zone…. and it would be more than half under water.

There’s also no reason why both those zones gw1 zones couldn’t comprise one gw2 map like Kessex peak + Tears of the Fallen etc. = Kessex Hills

That would technically put it in the gap between the grove and rata sum—which happens to be low level starting areas. What is currently known about HoT is that the maps will be in the Magumma Wastes/Jungle.

I don’t think Anet is going to add a high level map in between two low level maps.

The Tarnished Coast is, simply put, the coast of the Maguuma Jungle.

Also…. I don’t see a problem putting the zone between the two main cities.
There could be guards at the door that don’t let you enter unless you meet certain requirements.

Hey readers…

I wanted to talk to you guys about Day/Night cycles.

Currently in the game, we have a day/night cycle in all explorable open world maps.

…but the only place I’ve ever noticed this making significant changes to anything was in the cemetary in Queensdale.

(At night in the cemetary, bats spawn, and a spooky quest is available, both of which are absent during the day.)

Why isn’t more of our game world like this?

I know that we have Sylvaris that glow in the dark…. and sigils that operate differently at different times of day…. but other than that I can’t really think of anything directly affected by the day/night cycle.

Are there any other areas of the game you have noticed where players can see the day/night cycle having distinct differences?

Is this something you would like to see more of throughout the game world?

I certainly would.

Thanks for reading.

Condi Damage vs. Power Damage [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

condi builds require condi damage as a offensive stat to put out damage with dire gear. Thats one offensive stat and your thinking that they should equal the same dps output as a power build that has 3 offensive stats and no defensive stats?

Dire gear is to Sinister as Soldiers is to Berserker.

come on man use your head.

Lmao no.

Only condi builds that need precision is Mesmer and Engineer. Necro, Warrior, and Thief go Dire and if you ever fought one of these three classes you’ll know how broken Dire is. These guys can 1vx easily. All you need for Condition Damage builds is Condition Damage. Power needs power precision and ferocity to be effective. Someone in full Dires can annihilate you as fast if not faster that a zerker can. Condition Damage needs a new stat to spread out it’s damage, like Power builds need ferocity.

You are referring to pvp (or wvw) builds, which is an entirely different ballgame.

A pvp build is only as good as its condi clears if it isn’t just a glass canon spec, and if you can stack even the smallest amount of condi you can wipe out anyone without enough condi removal. (or even bait the condi removal then stack and easily win)

This is why condition damage has been the meta in pvp for so long.

You are comparing apples to oranges by comparing pvp to pve.

DoT in pve is not the same discussion as what kills baddies in pvp.

No one is talking about pve here what you said has nothing to do with his post troll somewhere else.

troll?

Oh I’m, sorry…

You guys ARE talking about WvW
:O

Even so…. I feel that the culprit is more the toughness in WvW builds moreso than the condition dmg. Condition dmg ignores toughness….. whereas toughness reduces power’s effectiveness.

If toughness was altered to negate some condi dmg i could see balance… but maybe its Anet’s intent to get people out of pvt gear.

Also…. isn’t resistance going to play a big role after the release of HoT?

Anet has been largely silent on the specifics about the HoT expansion.

Don’t you think for even one second that it is unintentional.

Anet is keeping us in the dark on purpose.

Players want to know things like…

How many new pve maps are we getting?

How many world boss events?

How many raids/dungeons/instanced group content?

How many new types of creatures?

etc.

If anet was extremely vocal about all of the different features/additions we will see in the expansion, players could decide if they want to buy it or not…

Instead… Anet trumpets about all of the features and specifics that shine a good light on their product….. but remain completely silent about details that would shed a negative light.

Anywhere there is a detail that is absent, read between the lines and realize that it is something negative that anet is hiding…. otherwise they would be bragging about it.

Its not a matter of entitlement…. Its a matter of being deceitful to your fans and playerbase…. especially those who continue to support the game.

There is no expansion for Guild Wars 2, yet.

The “betas” we have experienced are nothing more than the next episode of the living story.

This preorder nonsense is to fund production of the expansion that hasn’t even come into existence.

Anet needs resources to actually make this expansion… and they want you to pay for what is “behind the curtain” when there isn’t even anything behind the curtain yet besides a mockup.

They need money to even put something behind the curtain…. hence the preorder with barely any information and little details.

Buying a HoT preorder is basically the same as funding a kickstarter to make the expansion happen.

Why not be up front about what they are doing?

They would rather lie to our faces about it so they can get more money.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TheBlackLeech.9360

TheBlackLeech.9360

Next, lets look at how absurd the logic behind this pricing method is.

Anet has lost a little less than 1/2 of their potential profits by charging $50 for the basic version of HoT instead of $30.

For every one person that would have paid $50, there are easily two people who would have happily paid $30.

$30 x2 = 60

60 > 50

Veteran players would still need a character slot, but $10 more after only having spent $30 and there would be a small fraction of the complaints about buying another slot.
$30+$10 = $40
$40 vs $50

$40 = HoT + Character slot.
vs
$50 = Only HoT

And again…. for every one happy there are two unhappy…. so
$40 × 2 = $80
$80 > $50

And on top of all of that….
They could have still used the $50 for the bundle of the original game + HoT idea specifically for new players, and they would sell that package all day long.

It literally doesn’t even make sense for Anet to keep the price at $50 without a character slot after they have seen the backlash.

At this point, $40 w/char slot ($30 w/o) is obviously the best method for us AND for Anet.

As I demonstrated in my previous post, it is clear to see that the majority of people who has seen Anet’s pricing scheme for HoT are unhappy.

So, lets take a look at another phenomenon happening on Youtube.

Popular Youtube streamers who relate with GW2 are receiving monetary rewards for everyone who preorders HoT through referral links.

…but where is this money coming from? This money involved with the deal that Anet struck with all of these youtube streamers has to come from somewhere.

If Arenanet can afford to pay money for referrals and good publicity, perhaps they should have charged less for the expansion and let the general public handle the publicity (I guarantee a lot more people would be saying nice things if the expansion was reasonably priced).

In my honest opinion, Anet knew ahead of time that they were going to receive a huge backlash from the community, and they used popular youtube figures (who relate with gw2) to help justify their gouged prices. …by paying them off.

  • How are you playing, that your MMR seems to match the one of new players? Du you need some help?

How did he play?
He had trouble making it out of the spawn.

…and I suppose I’m getting matched with new players for two reasons:
PvP is dead.
I haven’t seriously played ranked since the last ladder reset….. I’m at 5 wins 0 losses…. but I’m afraid to even enter ranked anymore because I always seem to get “little timmy” who just got the game for his birthday on my team.

New players joining ranked pvp

Can we do something to stop new players from joining ranked pvp matches with next to 0 pvp experience?

At very least the game should force players to complete a certain number of unranked matches before they are allowed to queue for ranked.

This guy didn’t even want to take any pointers before the match when advice was politely offered….

What is the point of even having a ranking system if this nonsense occurs on a daily basis?

Most condition damage builds also run precision because landing a crit applies more conditions either through traits or sigils. …but I’m sure you already knew that….. right?

best way is to just disengage.

This.

Part of being a good pvp player is to know when you are in over your head.

Put a comfortable distance between you and the warrior, and patiently wait it out or chip away his hp from a distance.

There’s no point in diving onto a point and losing a fight if you can wait a few seconds and win.

Win the fight and win the cap… or lose the fight and lose the cap.

As a thief player I have trust issues

The issue is the thief’s mobility and escape ability in relation to its damage potential.

There are no other classes in the game that can truly go full mobility/escape AND dps simultaneously the way that the thief does.

Perhaps the solution is to not nerf thieves, but bring the other professions up to speed.

Warrior for example is severely crippled in one aspect or the other (gearing for mobility sacrifices damage potential and gearing for damage potential sacrifices mobility) and they have been reduced to cap holders in pvp.

Anet has already announced changes that instead of bumping thieves down…. will bump the other classes up.

Only time will tell if this brings balance.
