Being one of the unlucky people who got disconnected during the final event, to find that quite a number of people, including a close friend of mine and another guild member (of a small 15-20 person guild) each getting a precursor, I felt like I got quite literally kicked in the teeth, I even went to the extent to make a longish post in a older thread (it’s quite recent in my post history).

However, I would be quite content in receiving a accessory and a 20 slot bag like everyone else, but what we are upset about is the fact that a large number of people, had a chance to get a precursor, with some lucky so-and-so’s getting more than that, and some even further fortunate people who managed to find a overflow server and still loot the chest on alternate characters to get even more goodies (to each that did the latter, I hope karma bites you in the backside), further rubbing salt in the wounds. And it would still leave us feeling bitter if we didn’t have the same opportunity that at least the large majority got.

But I will reiterate, at least we are getting something, so on that much, Thank you ANet.

I had just finished a long reply to someone in a similar thread saying cheer up, saying I’d at least be happy with a response.

So on that much, thank you ANet. Otherwise let me give you a mini lowdown on my situation, The lag kicked in at about 9:55pm GMT+00 I got disconnected when my Overflow was at around the second reinforcements (we were having some trouble thanks to invisible enemies doing horrendous damage) but thanks, at least in some part to me, we turned it around each time. By the time I get back in, I can walk over to a corpse by the lava with some other unfortunate souls who also missed what was probably a fitting end to a somewhat difficult boss.

To be honest, I’m still annoyed, and overall, since the patch on Thursday, this had been the worst few days I’ve had in GW2; Events, FotM, new additions in sPvP and Southsun all good. Ranger update falling short of expectations; not being able to do FotM because people won’t help a r1, and DC’ing right near the end of what was a difficult battle where I worked my socks off helping so many others, BAD.

Dear all: Cheer up!

It’s all good and well saying cheer up, actually, I’m looking for all the positives out of this at the moment.

Such as, to some degree, this event was great, uncovering the story, the looming threat, the humorous little extras, players properly helping other players on things like the jumping puzzles or just generally killing Karka, for what it’s worth, it was fun, I really enjoyed it. And whats better yet, I’m hoping ANet have learned a great deal from all this so that various bugs and whatnot doesn’t happen again, and we can look forward to a interesting Wintersday (yeah, we all know it’s coming). Not to mention giving the oppourtunity for many other people to try this game during a time where everyone is experiencing something awesome is all good as it creates social interaction and community.

In response to the OP; I get RNG, I’ve played Aion. I understand it’s a one time only event, ANet gave us plenty of warning. I fully accept tonnes of players getting a chance at good loot because they were there and ready for it, and we’re lucky enough to not be booted for whatever reason.

What I’m not happy about is what has happened to some of us who got disconnected for whatever reasons, and we were active during that event, working hard to keep you all alive and get you through the content, yet we get nothing. Na da. No shot at precursors, no chest, no fancy earrings, no 20 slot loot bag, not even a “sorry you missed out, have a bronze coin piece”. Nothing except a hefty repair bill and looking a corpse to show you what you missed. Even watching a Youtube video to see the cutscene would be awkward because you know you helped that lucky so-and-so get there and get a chance at a chest where people are reporting they got precursors. And for every person who will get their shiny legendary soon will be waving it in your face, will look at you, and with the straightest poker face, walk away, or at best, say “If you were there, you could have got something too.”

That feels like my skin has been ripped off and I’m forced to take a salt and vinegar bath, no joke.

I’m not bitter, I accept this, I was unlucky. But honestly, that probably the nicest response you or anyone are going to get from anyone who is in a similar situation to mine, and having the audacity to tell them otherwise you better expect something worse.

If backstab gets nerfed...

in Thief

I think people are blowing this whole potential backstab nerf way out of proportion for what is a pretty gimmicky skill in the first place.

First off, ANet said they were looking to bring down the raw spike DPS potential of some builds while compensating others, so if you really love Thief that much, you should start looking into other builds ( Yes, there really are other skills other than Heart Seeker and Back Stab! ) rather than moaning because a skill half of you apparently don’t use is being slightly lowered.

Second, saying that ANet are pandering to noobs/bads/casuals or whatever your favorite derogatory term is, is just stupid. Remember in the BWE’s when everyone was complaining about the Hundred Blades Warriors, how did ANet react; they didn’t, exactly the same when loads of people were complaining about the Mesmer survivability and utility, they lowered the damage and recharge of Phantasm attacks. Or what about the Guardian and their damage potential? Largely unchanged. ANet assess the situation on skills, abilities or whatnot themselves, if they feel a change is needed, then obviously something has to be done about it because it’s not acting as intended or players are using it in unintended ways.

Finally, Anet are trying to work to increase their longevity of their game, you really think heavily nerfing a class is their priority? If so, you are sadly mistaken, especially when that class is a fundamental part of almost every MMORPG.

Extra: SFtheWolf – I couldn’t agree more about people would rather complain than adapt, and that is exactly whats happening here, on both sides of the fence.

29/30th October Weekly Patch? Missing?

We know a big content patch is coming on November the 15th, so take that much as a (hopefully) conclusive date.

I suspect ANet are with-holding the next patch slightly until the transition of Halloween Act III to Act VI (end of Oct 31st) so that maintenance doesn’t happen a few times within a few days, as people would complain.

I too am patiently waiting for this Ranger ‘quality of life’ fix as well as a hopeful positive Mesmer fix (they’ve had nothing but nerfs to Phantasms and the Staff the past few weeks, both key points of my builds).

I’m not intending to chew you out, but if you have done everything, then I might understand your frustration.

1. Achievements: if you were to truly have every achievement track maxed out already, then wow, I would be genuinely amazed, that’s every possible story of each race, all dungeon armors, every WvW event achievement track and sPvP to whatever the max is.. I could go on, but I doubt anyone has done this yet.

2. Playing other professions: it’s commonly known that it’s quite easy to get through most of the game as a Warrior or a Ranger, and probably Engineer too, but have you got every class to maximum level, do they all have the awesome gear your main character does? Again, the amazement would be given if you honestly have and again I would understand your frustration with this lack of endgame you are proposing, but again I am doubting this.

3. Legendary Weapons: I imagine people are only recently starting to get these on their main characters, and this is the kicker as these show effort, dedication and grind and probably the biggest show off of the PvE endgame, if you have all of these then I would.. scratch that, I wouldn’t, because I wouldn’t have to. Want to know something even better, this is THE gear grinding that people thought wasn’t in the game, and even better than that, each legendary weapon can have the stats you want, and you aren’t pigeon holed into a build around it!

There are plenty of goals to achieve, and to be honest, achieving any of these requires a lot of time or investment which no one person can possibly have done yet, or will have done any time soon. I can understand that maybe you won’t want to do some of these things, or doing these take so much time you might get bored on the way. But saying this game needs more endgame content or more variety is silly, there is plenty, the only limits there are, are the ones I have suggested or ones you have imposed on yourself.
