Thanks for all your replies, but i have anther question.

If I can’t keep anything obtained by Rev, why am I then being charged WP costs? Shouldn’t those be free? Or am I getting a refund for those when they delete my beta character?

I noticed during the first stress test in the new zones, every time u died or fell, u had to pay wp costs like normal and it’s the same here. So we pay, but can’t keep anything to compensate?

I just went to SW from LA with my beta Rev, then to frostgorge sound from there and those 2 trips cost me around 7s, plus any deaths, you have to pay wp for that as well, that all adds up. Do that for the next several days and you’ll be quite bit out of pocket. IMO, if they gonna charge us for wp while testing a new class or doing beta tests, then they either let us keep the loot and materials we find, or remove the wp costs. Coz i don’t think it should be costing me money for this. After all, I’ve already pre-purchased HoT, i shouldn’t have to keep paying to participate in beta as well.

Don’t you agree?

That’s not your money though, that’s your beta character’s money

Your beta character gets their own copy of your bank and wallet, made when you created your beta character for the first time. Nothing you use or spend from them is actually from your normal storage.

OH ic, tnx i didn’t know that. Darn i wish Anet would explain these things better, they probably do somewhere, but i don’t have time searching all over for every bit of info. maybe a letter in the mail outlining these things would help?

PC's V/O audio bugs and PS NPC Audio

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Tiger Ashante.1792

Thanks for fixing most of the misplaced PC commentary that occurred a while back, but there are still some that are persisting and even a few new ones that need fixing.

Those I’ve been hearing most frequently over the past few months are:

1) My warrior making a comment when her adrenaline bar is full “adrenalin full” in Asuran male voice: she’s a human female and she says this without fail every time her bar is full. So it’s kinda driving me crazy to a point where i avoid playing her.

2) Various mantras that i’m not sure if they are being said by my character or someone else. Every time i’ve heard it, i was not playing my mesmer and couldn’t see anyone near by, so it’s either being broadcast across a greater range, or it’s my character saying it. The one I hear more than most, is “Lyssa Confound You”. But lately i’ve been hearing others more and more frequently and most of them are being said in Asuran male voice.

Onto PS.

I’ve been playing PS since it’s been restored (HUGE thanks for that) and what i noticed is when NPC’s talk (not during cinematic) they sound loud and clear when u face them, but as soon as u turn sideways, even a little, or turn your back to them which often happens as u fight, their voices become almost inaudible. This definitely needs a fair bit of adjustment as you end up missing a lot of dialogue and instructions being given by Threaherne or other NPC’s, since it’s hard to hear or understand what they’re saying.

If any of the staff has seen & read thus far, thanks, much appreciated. I realise you’re all busy and hope this info helps you narrow the problem. I would dearly love it if you could address this at least before HoT is released. I can’t wait for all the new V/O for our characters and naturally would like them to be as perfect as possible.

Cheers!

Ty for restoring the personal story. I just started playing it after a long wait. It was very sentimental to see the old LA again. I haven’t played much into it yet, got 2 chars at about lvl 30-40 story parts so really looking forward to seeing all the changes/missing story parts. So thank you for your effort. It must have been huge. It’s always easy to get rid of something than restore it and I for one appreciate you’ve listened to the community and put this effort to make tings right, especially with expansion in the wings.

I’m particularly looking forward to Victory or Death in solo mode. Hopefully I’ll survive it lol.

Please tone down this Sylvari chatter box. She never stops, it hurts my brain. I mean l love all the Sylvari teachings and all but this lady is making me hate them. If you stand at the bank for a few minutes, she recites them all 10 x over in no time.

There are other annoying repetitive sounds that have have been introduced in new LA but she’s definitely the worst, so much so i avoid the bank all together whenever i can.

P.S just want to add, love the new LA otherwise, great work.

I don’t know about the cost of it, but I think if Lotro can do it, so can Anet. In fact i was utterly shocked when gw2 released without this feature. I thought for an MMO these days it’s a must especially for group play.

Just because one title has a feature, does not mean every title similar to it will have said feature.

There are probably many reasons why GW2 doesn’t have it in yet.
They could range from costs, focus of the game, to even maybe not having anyone with the code base knowledge in the company at this time.

Will they eventually? I don’t know.
Should they? Well that determines who you ask. Personally I’m fine without it for the moment. It isn’t that I hate the idea, I just typically disable said things whenever I play online games (LOTRO and WOW being my main examples I played). So not having it right now is no problem for me.

Well that’s fine, but i can tell you this, i tried to run Arah with my guildies a while back who had never done it b4 and not having voice chat was awful trying to explain the run. None of us could afford to host one of those external voice chats and our guild being small, the cost couldn’t be justified anyway.

There are public channels that are free but are very limiting and have no security, anyone can tune into them. In fact, one of my guildies set up a free one for our guild after gw2 release and it was hacked, b/c as i said, there is no security measures guarding those channels. We suddenly had some foreign kids in our chat room and there was nothing we could do about it. Next thing, we were shut down, got some jumbled message about the channel being hacked and that was that. It was depressing coz we were right in the middle of a difficult run and had no idea what was going on.

So yea i would love to see a secure voice chat in game that is available to everyone or at least to guild leaders, even if i had to pay some gems to activate it.

It’s funny all these people against the in game voice chat.

I know there are many external voice chats, but that’s the point, it’s external and you’re reliant on some 1 hosting it.

Lotro, almost 10 year old game has always had a chat in game. It’s simple really, they have in game option to enable voice chat, and right below it settings for the chat. once enabled it’s always there if u want to use it and small amp icon appears next to your portrait showing you have voice chat enabled. The chat only works for party members. So if you want to chat with your friends/guildies or anyone for that matter, you simply join them to your party and chat away. All you need is head set with microphone and you’re set. simple really. I don’t know about the cost of it, but I think if Lotro can do it, so can Anet. In fact i was utterly shocked when gw2 released without this feature. I thought for an MMO these days it’s a must especially for group play.

HoT Ultimate players

Didn’t buy because of hype, bought because GW2 is my favorite game. I’ve said it elsewhere, but I’ve been a part of this game since before its launch, starting with the closed beta you had to mail in a physical, signed NDA for. I’ve watched it grow so much over the years, and I mean, even next week, a huge update is coming to make it fresh and fun and improved yet again.

I have the Collector’s Edition tin and my gigantic Rytlock statue up on my shelf. I bought the biggest thing once, it made sense to me to do it again. I haven’t begun to regret the first purchase, and I don’t expect to regret the second.

Honestly, the whole concept of a “veteran” player is so bizarre to me. I got my Birthday Blaster for being around for 2 years. They don’t need to cut me a deal just to “make things fair” when they’re making it so my friends can buy the expansion and get the whole game all at once.

You guys remember that? Friends? The kind that take a lot of poking and prodding to convince that something is good? I’ve got a few lined up to buy HoT now that they know they’ll be getting the new and old content at the same time.

Long story short, I feel great about my purchase, and it’s got everything to do with GW2 being my favorite game. If you feel like you’ve been shafted because new players get the core game with the expansion, well…

…I’m just sorry you feel that way. I don’t feel like I’m owed more than what I got, and I’m glad more new players can join me.

Well said, the only thing i wish they did to appease all the scrooges is to add a char slot to all versions. I think that would have kept things much calmer around here.

I see lot of Satisfied customers !

Seems Like a Good Time to Try ESO

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

I’ve been a loyal GW2 patron since release. Even spending a small amount of cash on gems every month. Up until now, GW2 has been a great value. But I just refuse to spend 50 bucks plus on Silverwastes 2.0 and some LS updates. Twenty even twenty-five bucks? Yes. Fifty? Not on your life. The value is just not there. The amount of content appears to be very slim for such a high dollar figure.

Especially since I’ve been eyeing up ESO since it released. And now that it’s B2P and discounted, it seems like the better value. Also, most of its bugs have been fixed and it’s received a nice amount of polish as well as new systems. Many of the issues players have complained about are gone.

So I think I’ve off to Tamriel for a while. At least until HoT comes down to a more realistic price based on the small amount of content it appears to be delivering.

Sorry to tell you, but ESO is crap. I bought it when it went f2p and and i’ve hardly logged in the past month, while i still play gw2 every day since head start.

I hate ESO’s clanky combat, the positive lack of any QoL, the trading system, the cost of skills ie: stamina/magicka and that 90% of the sky shards which give you skill points, are locked in dungeons. The leveling system is grindy and tediously long…it took me almost a month of regular play to reach lvl 10. My char is now lvl 39 and i’ve run out of quests in the last 2 maps i’ve been to where i’m having to fight mobs 3-4 lvls above me, unless i want to do dungeons. Lots of the quests are these very long chains where u have to do maybe 3-4 or even more quests fighting same mobs over and over b4 you get any reward, hence the slow lvling process.

The crafting is hideous. There’s such a lack of resources in maps, i can cover half a map and be lucky to get 2 nodes of ore, yet the requirement for crafting items is huge, even at low lvls.

For me the only redeeming thing was that at first, some of the quests seem to have some nice stories but after a while, you realise they’re all copy and paste with some variation. for eg: every map you go to, every town every npc you meet on the road is in trouble by one cult or another…every map has several of them and soon, they become very tedious. I got to a stage when i came to a new zone and saw an NPC in strife by the roadside (typically how u get quests) saying to myself. Oh no, let me guess, another cult abducted your wife, or daughter or husband etc. etc. And sure enough….

I could go on and on, but let me tell you this to conclude, ESO is not a patch on gw2, not by a long shot and for me at least, any price gw2 asks for its content is worth 3x over. Don’t get me wrong there are things i would like to see improved/added to gw2 and have my own issues with some aspects, but over all, it’s still the best game for me.

I created my 5 initial characters in haste at the head start to reserve my names, so all of them were just default characters with little adjustment. Since then, I’ve had to change every one of them and was forced to use makeover kits just to change a hair style i didn’t like or face i didn’t like etc. At this stage, there was no new faces/hairstyles only the default ones and i think it sucked I had to use kits to do so.

You weren’t forced to do anything. You could have just deleted and remade the characters. Since names are reserved to the account for several hours (IIRC 24) there was no problem with losing the names either.

Are you kidding? the last thing on my mind was to delete any of my chars. i couldn’t wait to get into the game and start exploring hehe. I created my own guild too had quite a few members back then so i had no time to think about that stuff. It was only later when i caught my breath that i thought about my chars looks and the fact i did very little customization when creating them.

And BTW i’m not saying i was forced, forced to do this. what i meant is if i wanted to change them i had no choice but to use the kits.

I’m not against the feature, I just think there are other features that would be more important to have in the game.

Plus, my reliable work-around is that I remember when server reset is in local time. I also use /wiki wb, which brings up the wiki world boss article, which shows the times in UTC and my computer’s local time, plus a count-down. (There are also plenty of good timers and overlays with timers.)

tl;dr an ok idea, although arguably with plenty of existing solutions and therefore not a priority imo.

Yea i have no problems with server resets per se, i’ve memorized that too, nor are the boss timers an issue. My main problem comes when they announce there’s going to be POI stream that’s going to showcase some important changes to the gameplay, or some major announcements, like for eg tomorrow’s e3 reveal of guild halls etc. Because they list so many different time zones when it’s going to happen, i find it confusing. To me, it would be much simpler if they just announced everything to be happening at server time and if there was an ability to quickly check the local/server time without having to constantly go into options or whatever, that would be awesome, at least for me.

Well, you could try un-ticking it, and ticking it again….or a -repair of the client.

Either way, though a nice QoL, perhaps, I doubt we will see it soon.

Good luck, though. =)

Well i did untick it b4 i reloaded my game. first i tried to tick it on/off in game that didn’t do anything, then i unticked it and logged into char select, relogged, still nothing. while still unticked i exited the game completely, reloaded it and still nothing. Maybe i need to reboot my pc, but seriously, why should i have to do that for something like this? Anyway, well see tomorrow i guess.

But on topic, it would be a nice QoL for sure. It kinda makes me sad though. I see lots of posts on this forum with quite good ideas and suggestions, but these posts always get flooded with people saying, don’t hold your breath for that ever happening, kinda thing. It’s sad that so many ppl have lost faith in Anet getting some of this stuff done. I’m still hoping and i’m still trying to believe and not let these type of comments get to me, but i must admit it’s becoming harder and harder.

Are you sure you didn’t un-tick any boxes in chat? I have both time-stamps and loot in my chat. I think it’s the ‘Game Messages’ option.

There is an option in Windows (I know it’s not in-game) that you can set on the Taskbar Clock to show multiple time-zones just by mousing over it. It is accessed by clicking on the Date/Time area and choosing ‘Change Date and Time…’, and then clicking the ‘Additional Clocks’ tab.

Good luck.

Yep i’m positive, all my boxes were ticked b4 except the time stamp and its the only box i then ticked and yea the loot message is gone.

But as far as the time business is concerned it’s really a very simple thing i would have thought. I play Rift as well and it has this feature on the mini map it’s wonderful. I can keep an eye on when the dailies reset by simply hovering over my display time. When i do that, it shows (that’s normally hidden) above it the server time and i can switch between them by simply clicking on one or the other without having to go into options etc. I would really like to see something like that in gw2.

The time is on your minimap, you can always see it. No need to write something in chat. You can either show your time or server time.

If read my post you would realise i’m aware of that, that wasn’t my point. i would like to see both server and my local time in the same place.

Ok I tried what u guys suggested, ie: turning the time stamp on and something weird has happened. It no longer shows what i looted in the chat. Event turning time stamp off and fully exiting the game did not fix it.
I know ur loot is scrolled on the right of ur screen but it also always showed in the chat what u got. Sometimes i don’t have time to look at that loot scrolling on the side and like to review the chat afterwards to see what i got or to take a screenshot as proof of getting something, well it don’t show any more. For some reason it’s been now removed…permanently.

I realise there’s an option to have an overlay over mini map that shows server time or your local time, but not both at the same time, so you can compare.

When Anet announces events etc, they list multiple times, like UTC, PDT, GMT etc. Living in Down Under, trying to work it all out gets a bit confusing, especially when daylight savings are involved.

Why not have it when you hover your mouse over the local, or whatever time you have displayed over the mini map, it also shows server time above it? Then when Anet announces events, they only need to list one time they will be held at: the server time.

This is a simple yet important little QoL feature that i think would be very helpful for our international community. I know i can Google timers etc and i do, but this would make both server and ur local time always available in game just by hovering your mouse over your displayed time.

So depending what you choose to display ie local or server timer they end up rotating positions, where one that isn’t displayed is hidden and only shows when hovering your mouse over the display, if that makes sense. Ultimately this would make it so you only ever have to worry about 2 different time zones, your local one and the server time, not all these other acronyms half of which i don’t even know what they mean.

Support if you like the idea or add your own.

Disappearing harvesting nodes

I’ve been noticing disappearing/appearing nodes for months now, if not for at least a year, especially in Orr. And often i see candy corn pop here and there. It pops up and instantly disappears. i was just in straights of devastation the other day and one candy corn popped right in front of me then disappeared.

But even today in Malcor Leap, i saw an Ori node keep flickering on and off. Its not that i mined my limit (not that i was aware of any limits either) i just loaded into the map and hadn’t harvested any. this is not the first time i’ve seen this either and in most cases it happens with Ori nodes.

We need a barber shop

Tiger Ashante.1792

And how many of those “every other big MMO” does not require a subscription to play?

Quite a few actually. In fact gw2 is the only game and ESO that i know of that don’t have barber shop and in case of gw2 charges quite a hefty amount to change a hairstyle.

However, I have to point out, those games are not giving you new hairstyles to change to, they’re simply allowing you to change the default appearances very cheaply and whenever you like. You are not getting any new hair/face styles.

I don’t agree having to pay gems to change a default hairstyle/face but i don’t mind paying for any new ones they create.

Barber shop would be perfect in this game. Since gw2 does offer new hair/faces, I think a good solution would be to have a barber shop with 2 options: default and new makeovers. You should be able to preview everything in either case before buying and if you choose the new styles, you can be prompted to to pay gems and/or re-directed to gem purchase if you don’t have any, or enough on your acct.

In both cases, progressive charges could be applied. The more changes u want the more you pay. The only difference, default changes u pay with in-game currency, starting cheap for say just a hair change, to more expensive for full makeover, while the new styles are paid for with gems in a similar progressive way.

So yea, i’ve always been against the idea that we should have to pay gems to change the default styles, but like many others, I let it slide due to the idea that “Anet has to make money”. But really, they still can make money, maybe even more than now, if a system is implemented as described above and i think it would be a fair system and it would please everyone.

Everyone perhaps except those people who have a permanent makeover kit. Well they can still keep it and even sell it for those who want the convenience not having to visit a barber shop, which would only be located in major cities. It really would be no different than a permanent banker, which is only valuable for it’s convenience. In any case, there’s only a small bunch who have these and why should rest of the player base suffer because of a few?

What's the most expensive thing you've found?

I suppose it explains usage of the crafting materials. No wonder we use so many bolts of silk or insert other crafting item here! Have you seen the overlaying of material in some of the clothes?? So many kittening layers! And while I am sure layering was all the rage back then in Tyria, how about some simple skirts, or legging….none of this tents with legs please!

Don’t get me wrong, i love lots of the armor styles in gw2, i even like long coats. The details in a lot of armor pces are amazing like for eg ascended and carapace armors. The work that has gone into them must be huge, yet the actual design execution in many of them is kinda meh, including ascended.

Here’s hoping, when HoT comes out, we also get some new fresh designs and styles for the fashion lovers in gw2. Keeps fingers crossed.

I’ve been trying to make a Necro Human Female but I am put off by the armor styles available. I either dress like a kittening kitten from a bondage movie or its MC Hammer style pants and weird kitten jacket. And I made a Female Human Ranger, had to make her a size zero to get the armor to not look bulky but her legs are so skinny I’m amazed she can run!

Haha, that made me chuckle, but yea i know exactly what u mean.

I mean i look at Eir and the medium t3 Norn cultural armor which has that same bulging out effect form the waist down. I haven’t bothered getting it because of that. It’s an expensive armor that i would never wear. Imo, that shape makes it look terrible and completely spoils an otherwise awesome armor set. The issue i have, is that was the style at launch, almost 3 years ago, yet today, we’re still getting the same styles and and those bulging designs.

I’m sure Tyria is a progressive kind of a nation and can accept a new fashion style, something more slinky to suit our beautiful characters. It’s about time too, i think.

The home watchwork node and Aetherblades in EotM drop them pretty regularly and imho there’s not a lot of back pieces you can make with ascended leather so it’s worth the bank slots to just hang on to them over time.

In that case, it would be nice then if they added them to the Wallet? since you can’t trade them it makes sense to put them in there, just in case people decide to make another back pce?

best case scenario, you’ll get 1 green item for every 100 blade shards. if 1 green = 2s, then that’s 5s value per stack. meaning you’re wasting that bank space for a possible 5s in the future. if bank space is worth that much to you, then keep saving. but I recommend deleting.

Yeah, i figured as much. It’s so frustrating, i have a friend who’s trying to make blades back piece and is so desperate for blade shards, but i can’t give them to him. Wish they’d make them tradeable or at least be able to gift them to somebody.

I’m having to store my blade shards in my bank i get from home instance.

Is there going to be any use for them other than making the back piece or merchant being re-added to the game? I don’t know what to do with them, do i destroy them? I already got my back piece and don’t intend to make another, so please give an idea what’s going on with them.

Thanks.

Edit: i’ve amended the title and turned into a suggestion to add blade shards to
wallet. Hope it’s not too late.
Plz devs if at all possible, make this happen.
Thanks again.

(Feedback) Tired of Bulging armor/outfits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

It has always bothered me that 99% of gw2 leggings/coats/dangly sashes, bulge out into either a balloon or stick out in front of you, or back of you, or both. Why is that?

I’ve never complained about it till now in hope things would change. In fact, I’ve bought many of these items due to lack of other choices and i also wanted to support the game as much as i can, but in truth, I much prefer a more slick look where your gear hugs and follows the contour of your character’s body. Not the gear that defines/changes my character’s body shape, where in most cases, it makes them bulky waist down, especially Norns.

I know you can create the gear in my preferred style, for eg: Kasmeer’s feathered armor, lich outfit and now Reverent armor set and to some extent carapace armor, yet, you still keep making these strange bulging designs, that have weird dynamics and look just as weird on my characters.

Perfect example of what i’m talking about, is the new Dwyna outfit. On humanoid characters, the pointed front of the skirt sticks out so much it’s put me off buying it. Not only does it stick out, but it’s as stiff as a board when moving. Yet on my Asura and Charr, the skirt actually hugs the body much better, at least in the preview window.

I’m not sure if you’re following some era trend/design, but i wish you would change it to more slinky style, or at least mix it a bit more. If not, i think i’m done with outfits/skins coz honestly, i’ve come to a realization they all kinda look the same.

Does anyone else feel this way? Would u rather have slinky gear or the way it is? Share your thoughts.

I love gw2 environmental effects, music etc and have always kept my in game sounds on. But there’s one sound that’s been persistent for some time (can’t tell u exactly when it began) that is really annoying and spoils the immersion.

This sound is persistent everywhere. It comes in quick, loud successions of 3 clacks or thumps, not sure how to describe it and repeats every few seconds. After a while, it’s all i can hear and I’m forced to mute the effects sounds as it drives me crazy. Plz, plz look into this and try to fix it, I don’t want to play my game muted tnx.

What should i do with the starter gear?

so i just hit level 10 (ranger) and i am starting to get gear that is better then the starter gear i got in the mail. As its the only set i will get i dont know what to do with it. if i destory it do i still have it as a skin to use on other gear later? what happens if i destory it? the whole set is taking up space in my inventory. (btw im a bit mad i paid 40$ for a game to find out im going to have to deal with micro transactions that limit the game, the bank tab should be much larger) i dont really understand this whole transmutation system.

Hi Booty,

If you are talking about the bonus set you get for purchasing a certain edition of the game, that set should be account bound. What i suggest you do, is create another character and equip them with that set, you can also use that character to store extra stuff until you get on your feet and decide to play them.

I saved my set for key farming character, it’s perfect for it as it doesn’t have a lvl requirement and it’s actually of rare quality with 2 sets of stats. You can also put those low lvl runes that don’t have a lvl requirement into the unused upgrade slots, or even gems you get when mining nodes, to boost the stats a bit. Just make sure if u delete the character using it, that u strip the armor of them and store it in your bank first.

Not sure if you’re aware, but you can deposit any crafting materials from anywhere in the world by opening ur bags and then click the little cog wheel in the top right corner of your inventory which gives you a drop down menu. Simply click on deposit collectables and it will free up your bag space. I’m sure the reason why most people on this tread say you shouldn’t have problem with storage is because you get a massive material collectable bank that’s given to you for free and that’s where all your materials go (in case you’re not aware). When u visit the bank, on the left side you will see one of the tabs is a dotted square, if you click it, it will open your collectables bank and you will see all your mats there. Also note, bank can be accessed at any crafting station via a little coin tab and also you can craft stuff straight from your bank without withdrawing the mats.

When out in the world, make sure you have gathering tools equipped and a salvage kit in your bags at all times. Collect all mats and sell them if you don’t want to keep them. You’ll make lots of money that way. Like others have pointed out, salvage stuff you don’t need, but bear in mind some things cannot be salvaged, such as things bought with karma and some reward items. When you dble click your salvage kit non-salvageable items will be in red, the rest is ok. However, if you get 4 of similar type of things that you can’t salvage, like 4 weapons, or 4 armor pces (they don’t have to be exactly the same but do have to be of same rarity), you can put them into Mystic Forge (MF) in Lions Arch and it will return a random similar item for you that is not soulbound and may be traded/salvaged. Or u can simply trash them if you need space.

At lvl 10 you can also create your own guild and unlock a guild bank, but that may take some time though as you have to earn influence to unlock it, which you will earn over time simply by playing the game and completing content. You can also buy letters of commendations from one of the guild merchants to speed up the process with in-game gold and once you unlock the guild bank, you can store non-bound items in there.

Welcome to Tyria and good luck. Feel free to add me or send me a message here or in game if you have any other questions or need help with anything.

BTW, are you on EU or US server? I may be able to craft you some bags and send them to you. I’m Us so not sure if i can do that if your on EU server though.

It would be nice if in PvE, when you have completed a zone or instance you have the option (or an item – TP 1000 gems) that allows this. Imagine being able to create your own vista style fly by vids.

When you think about it, they already have a fly camera with vista panning, the only difference would be to allow the player have it. But as i’ve said in my OP, if they can’t give fly cam they can at least tweak the existing one to give better functionality and options. the way it stands, it’s better than it was but still not quite good enough.

I mean check the 2 shots in my OP, then check the shot of my char from gw2. Tha’ts the closest i can get to it. Rift, a completely f2p game has a better camera than gw2 and it disappoints me that’s the case. gw2 was even released after Rift so it should have even better systems one would think.

Here’s what i don’t understand. I thought Anet didn’t like zerging, certainly lots of player express they don’t and i certainly don’t. What exactly was the point of getting rid of champ train and replacing them with this daily system? What is the difference? I mean almost every day, you are herded into one thing or another, usually the same crap over and over like groundhog day. What exactly is non-zergy about giving you frozen maw, SB, fire ele etc every other day? Where every man and his dog are forced to congregate if they want to do their daily.

I remember when frozen maw, sb and thes lower lvl bosses took a bit to kill, now, they’re down in few seconds. It’s embarrassing and depressing to be part of it and it looks terrible when it’s being streamed on twitch. No wonder gw2 has a reputation for being zergfest, coz well, it is. Now that title is official, as it’s been sanctioned by the company itself through this “innovative” daily system. /sigh

Leveling is too slow

Tiger Ashante.1792

It’s painstaking slow to level. All you do is run around doing hearts. The only part of the game I enjoy is PvP, but I get stomped because every-one else is lv 80

You are seriously got to be joking! Have u played any other MMO’s? You don’t know what slow lvling means if u consider gw2 lvling too slow. How about where it takes you well over a month just to gain one lvl? I played another game where the last lvl took me several months. Granted i didn’t play as much as some people but still i killed 1000’s of enemies and did 100’s of quests and no matter what i did, i hardly saw my bar progress at all. It was the most horrible experience ever!

If anything, gw2 lvling is way too fast. I think the first time you lvl they should slow it down, at least double the time it takes, but if u create an alt, they should leave it as is currently.

Knockdown duration is too long in PvE.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

Given that Guild Wars 2 has no diminishing returns and overly strong CC is at best a PvP balance concern, I’m curious why enemy knockdowns in PvE have to last a mode of 5 seconds (as you can see from the duration all skills are disabled on your bars). The last few moments of knockdown aren’t particularly interesting nor compelling as I don’t find it very engaging nor interactive to see how many white numbers I can accumulate in 3 seconds.

My knockdowns certainly don’t last for 5 seconds, for one. Why should monsters’ ? Secondly, while you’re KDed, you aren’t immune to other knockdowns, so it’s perfectly possible to get chain-KDed to death or chain knocked-off a cliff. Some knockdowns aren’t even avoidable without stability (which isn’t common outside warriors, guardians and elites. Ever since you took it off Juggernaut, I’d like to point out the only options an Engineer has are to try to use one of a few stupid elites which don’t work reactively or to glug an elixir and pray you get the relevant effect) – such as the knockdowns off picking up explosive shot which are extremely annoying.

In Guild Wars 2, the average length of a KD was 2 seconds, you couldn’t knock down a knocked-down target, and KD was still an extremely powerful interrupt mechanic which had to be used sparingly on monsters despite the fact you were roaming everywhere in 8 person parties. Why does it take so much longer to get up in Guild Wars 2? Did everyone suddenly get a lot fatter in the last few hundred years?

I love gw2 combat, but have always hated the spammy CC’s in the game and the fact that they can be spammed on you multiple times simultaneously or consecutively. Every enemy pleb has them and it’s that that annoys me the most. That lvl of CC’s should be reserved for bosses not standard enemies. You learn to live with it, but its never been enjoyable nor fun and never will. At least not for me.

And OP, i totally agree, they last last way too long, especially when u’ve been knocked down and was about to get up, then something else knocks you back again even b4 you found your footings. Not only that, but the enemies keep attacking you whilst on the ground. It’s not challenging, it’s hideously annoying. I mean what’s so challenging of constantly disabling your character, while their face is being smashed?

Tiger Ashante.1792

You actually can get some closeups now, though you may have to fiddle with toggling character height camera on/off and zoom your FoV way down and choose your vertical/horizontal offset and possibly stand on an edge of something if you want to see your feet. So it’s not on-the-fly.

(And because I cannot resist: play an asura, adjust camera to character height, go into first person face to face with a Norn. You should get a great shot of their fly).

Well, that’s my point isn’kitten that you have to go through all that just to try and take a close up shot. It shouldn’t be that difficult should it? You should be able to take a decent close up by default, not have to adjust all the camera settings just to take a shot, which may not suit your normal playstyle. Which then means you have to go back and forth through these settings every time you want to take close up shot.

The intro of FPV and new camera features was a good step forward, but since it’s still in beta (at least i think it still is) i thought i suggest an option that would take it one step further, specifically when trying to take screenshots, not only of scenery, but also allowing better close-ups of your character.

GW2 has the most amazing detail in their armor and weapon/skins but even with the new camera, its impossible to take a really close-up shot of your character with the current set up and show off those details. It’s kinda shame really.

So I propose a Fly Camera!

Basically fly camera can be a /flycam command in the chat window when u want to switch to it. This would allow you to detach the camera from your character and freely fly around, take aerial panoramic shots and most importantly be able to close in/out from your character as much as you want. The sky is the limit literally.

Prior to playing gw1/2, I played an elder scrolls game called Oblivion for several years. It was released in 2006 and it had this camera feature u could activate by using the above mentioned command. It was amazing for taking screenshots.

When using fly camera. your character stands where u left them when you activated the camera so you don’t have control of your character, but rather, you have full control of the camera.

I don’t know how difficult it would be to include this feature in the current set up and gw2 in general, but if it’s not possible then at least tweak the existing camera so you have a better control of the zoom in/out.

At the moment, when zooming in, the camera jumps form where your character stands over there, where you can’t really see any fine detail of armor, face etc. The next turn of the cog on your mouse wheel shoots past your character and spins them in the opposite direction.

Even in Rift, the camera control is amazing. I can zoom in very close to my character and here are couple of examples of what i’m talking about. I could have zoomed in even closer than that too, but in gw2 I can’t do that without glitching my character in some way. I had really hoped with the changes to the camera the zoom would have improved but alas its kinda same as it always was, at least when it comes to closing in on our characters.

Plz devs plz make it happen. Thanks >3

The problem is, i can’t exit the game normally by using ESC key that brings up the main menu. Every time i hit ESC key, it makes the arrow shoot in the air and won’t allow me to access the main menu.

(Sugg) Skin Unlock & Wardrobe Changes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

THE COST & BENEFITS

This system would eliminate transmutation charges. Instead, the appearance tabs unlocks would be purchasable via gem store. Each tab unlock, would allow you to save one appearance, which you can then access and switch between them as mentioned above. Best part about this, it leaves your armor in tact and you don’t have to destroy/overwrite anything to gain a new look.

The skin unlocks would remain account bound, but appearance tabs can be either character or account bound (I would prefer if they remained account bound just for the convenience). Depending on how this was done, the price of tabs would vary. If tabs were account bound, you can charge a lot more per tab, perhaps a flat rate of 400-500 gems? In this case however, you would have to make sure the appearances themselves could be saved to each individual character. If this system was made character bound, then the appearance tab would have to be considerably cheaper. They may start at say, 10 gems for your first unlock and progressively get more expensive until they reach a price cap, which in this case could be around 100 gems?
What would really top this system, is if the first slot is made free, so that people can experiment a bit and new accounts can have at least one appearance while lvling.

I’m well aware that there’s been a lot of complaining about the current system and having to keep using trans charges each time you want to change your appearance and having to overwrite the existing one. There’s resentment by some people of having to keep using trans charges on bought skins, where it makes them feel like they never truly own them, but are only renting them.

With this system, you can have 20, 40, 60 tabs, the sky is the limit (as you can copy the same interface infinitely) and perhaps Anet’s storage capacity, but i think people would be much happier buying appearance slots than trans charges. I don’t even think it’s the cost of them, but rather the principle of it. I don’t have the figures Anet does, but I suspect they make little money from trans charges. I for one have never had to buy one, but despite that, i would be happy to purchase appearance tabs for my characters if implemented along the lines as described above. This system i believe would please majority of players having ability to switch between looks at click of a mouse would please just about anyone i think and and Anet could make some extra money for their hard work. In my eyes, its a win, win for everyone.

Well sorry about this lengthy post. If you’ve come this far, thanks for reading. If you like the idea, support it, comment on it, or make your own suggestions if you so desire.
Cheers!

THE ISSUES
I’ve been thinking a lot since the introduction of the wardrobe system and as much as I was thrilled to get the wardrobe, there’s been a couple of things that have always bugged me in the way it works and the way skins are unlocked in this game.

Having played around with the wardrobe quite a bit and comparing it to some other games i play, the gw2 wardrobe system is messy and cumbersome to use and it doesn’t promote customization as well as it should, especially during leveling. Overall it’s not bad, but it could be so much better.

1) I dislike having to destroy or bind a skin to unlock it.
Solution: Unlock skins when they enters your inventory. The only exception here should be highly prestigious skins such as legendaries, BLTC skins etc.

2) I dislike having to overwrite my armor in order to create/change appearance. I had really hoped that with the addition of the wardrobe, this process would be eliminated, but as we all know it’s still here.
Solution: Separate the appearances from armor, except outfits They can stay where they are.

HOW WOULD IT WORK
By creating dressing rooms in which you can create and save multiple appearances and access them with a push of a button.

If you click on the wardrobe tab on the main menu, you are taken to a copy of your equipment interface. This copy is neutral it shows your currently selected appearance and is not affected by what you do in the dressing room. This is where you access rows of numbered tabs, each one allowing you to create a different appearance. Think of this window as a sort of a lobby to the dressing room.

So for eg: you have 10-20 small tabs at the bottom of this interface. You click on one and it takes you to a dressing room where you can create an appearance. This dressing room again is a copy of your equipment interface, except all the equipment slots are empty. This is where you fill them with skins you have already unlocked and which are accessed in the same way as they are now, simply by clicking the relevant equipment slot which then brings up the related skins.

It would make sense to add dye channel boxes beside each equipment slot in the dressing rooms so you can save the entire look in one go. You can still keep the current dye system for dyeing your outfits and actual armor, but the dressing room system should be kept self-sufficient.

Once satisfied with the way you look, save it and the tab you had originally selected now has a new icon that depicts some aspect of your new appearance for eg: helmet that you have actually equipped. From now on, when you want to use that appearance just select the wardrobe again, then the tab you saved your new appearance on and voila, you have a new look. A skin you like better comes along? No problem, click that tab again, change the skin, save it and you have a new look again! Or you may like both skins and you may decide to get another appearance tabs and now, you can switch between them at any time.

2 accounts 2 different loot experiences

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

I have a similar experience as the OP.
In January this year I bought a 2nd account and it definitely seems luckier than my main.

On my main, I’ve been playing since head start, almost 7k hours, 17k ap. Never got anything worth mentioning. The most valuable thing i got on this account was an ascended weapon chest from a JP chest maybe a year ago and one of them Karka bows maybe 2 years ago that was worth about 40g at the time.

I’ve done a little of every content, but mostly PVE stuff. Done Teq numerous times, best thing i ever got from it was an exotic spoon…well 2 spoons. I lost count on how many times I’ve done Jormag and other world bosses, never so much as an exotic form them, not to mention, i’ve never seen a precursor.
Since SW and introduction of VW event, I’ve done it maybe 20 times, trying to get 2 coasts. No luck. I only got the one that was guaranteed when u first do the event.

My 2nd account, first time i did tripple trouble, gets an ascended armor chest. First time i did VW i get 2 coasts and on my 2nd run at VW i get the 3rd coat. I won’t even bother mentioning other stuff.

You can draw whatever conclusions u want from this, but the truth is, I’ve given up a long time ago getting anything worthwhile on my main account. I basically log in these days do my dailies if i feel like doing them and that’s about it. I’m tired of the same ol same ol generic greens and blues i get loaded with whenever i do anything in the game, like ruining W bosses or w/ever. My hands hurt form all the salvaging, it’s boring and tiresome.
