Mounts?

But to be able to ride a Moa across Queensdale would be pretty epic. And agreed on seafaring mounts!

I’ve been pining for Moa mounts (specifically, a golden Moa). I would not care at all if they were like the Witch’s Broom that add no speed bonus to the player and is purely for style – I just want to ride my bird!

Make my wallet even emptier this year – Moa mounts in the Gemstore! (but you’ll see not a single penny from me if they’re in the black lion chests!)

I don’t have a lot of money, but I can find moa Money for a Moa. That’s right, I just said that!:

“Moa’ Money!”, “Moa Money!”

  • You’re probably “kinda old” (but not quite decrepit… yet) if you recognize exactly what I’m referencing)

P.S. can one of you kind forum viewers photoshop up a picture of a female Sylvari riding a Moa? That would be a great background for my cellphone.

ooooOOOO YEAH, it’s about to get real! Watch me hop onto my Moa, Kim Jong il!
…wait a minute, that’s not how that song goes.

Pet Skins?!?!

in Ranger

Yes, oh yes.

If there were anything resembling a Dovahbear pet skin, my wallet would rocket out of my pocket with unimaginably terrifying force! And, by that I mean: Whichever ArenaNet sales agent’s nose it struck and broke would stay broken for the Whole of Time.

You know you play too much Guild Wars 2.....

When your excuse for not taking full 8 hour shifts is that “you will hit diminishing reaturns”

When you fear your job is going to get nerfed soon because you are farming too much money.

When your boss offers you a raise, you fly into a rage and quit because it introduces “vertical progression”.

Boss.3072: Son, you’ve been doing a mighty fine job. I’d like to offer you, I say, I’d like to offer you a raise.
Employee.9012: Are you kidding me?! This is Dolyak kitten! I quit!
Boss.3072: (puts palm up to mouth and speaks to invisible audience) Something tells me this boy’s been playing a little too much Guild Wars 2
(sorry, couldn’t resist)

While mildly inappropriate that name is fairly tame.
If the name is racist, sexist or includes swears…okay it deserves a report but if its implying something and you’re offended by the implication I’d say that seems more like a personal problem and you’ve got more to worry about then a silly video game.

Had it also occurred to you that this might be a reference to a character in Austin Powers?

Hey BableFish,

Thank you for the response.

Briefly, to keep this on topic – The user interface should provide a way of reporting pet names. This is the point of discussion.

ArenaNet would ultimately decide what is acceptable, of course, as they do character names right now. But we need a method of reporting.

I appreciate your response, but I’m confused about this part. Was your intention polite?

Thanks

Seriously? When you saw a pet named Spits not Swallow you were so offended you had to make a topic about it?

My suggestion is not about what I felt – and there is no mention of my feelings in my original post. This is not about me.

But anyway, isn’t there a report player function ingame?

There is a way of reporting character names. There is no way of reporting inappropriate pet names. That is the motivation behind this posting.

We should have a means of reporting inappropriate or vulgar pet names. I logged on this morning to find myself standing next to a pet Devourer named “Spits not Swallows” and let’s be honest folks, we know precisely what that references.

Moderators: Is there a suggestion about this in this forum somewhere already? Searches on “vulgar pet names” and “inappropriate pet names” brings up zero results – Surprising. Anyway, if this is a duplicate, please lock or delete this post. Thank you!

Do Permanent items still drop in BLT Chests?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Hey Vereen,

Sorry to hear this has happened to you. Actually, I really want the permanent BLTC NPC as well, but as I stated in another post: buying keys for a small chance of getting an item is a no go. I understand that other people who do buy keys think differently – I respect that. People can do what they wish with their own money.

When the permanent NPC were first announced I thought: It is likely – not definite, but likely – that the outcome of trying to get the Trading NPC by purchasing and using keys would result in an inventory full of items that I do not want but feel obligated to keep because I spent real cash on them.

Also, there would be no upper-bound on the amount of money I’d need to spend trying to get that one NPC. Hm… No thanks, I work pretty derned hard for my money. I think I’ll just buy food instead.

How many of you had similar thoughts? Did it affect your decision to buy/not buy keys?

I love this game to pieces, and want to support it with this green paper-stuff I have sitting about, but whatever set of policies drives the Gem shop offerings is excellent at keeping my wallet closed and in my pocket. That’s regrettable because I’d love, and I mean I-Would-Love, to give Arena Net my hard-earned cash to keep their business going. But I’m not going to just give it to them, they must provide value in exchange for my cash. And keys isn’t it.

But perhaps there’s something going on over there that demands that Keys and Chests stay in place. So I’d like to offer a compromise: Keep the chests as they are, but how about also offering a subscription service that gives its members the right to buy items outright? I coin this “Pay To Buy” (p2b). Here’s how it works:

p2b subscriptions are offered in 3-month installments (or some other number greater than one) at 12$ a month, for example. Subscribers are allowed to buy Chance-Items, like the permanent NPCs and Halloween weapon skins (but only during Halloween) outright at a fixed price.

Are you sales-people giggling like teeny boppers at their first rock concert yet? I’d pay you for the right to buy! Sound crazy? Run the experiment, see what happens. If they do I’m fedex’ing ArenaNet my wallet with orders to never allow me to see it again.

I will not buy keys though unless they are reduced to the equivalent of 1 penny per key (and the rare item drop rates are not decreased)

Marketing people: See how in ‘p2b’ the ‘b’ is actually a ‘p’ but flipped upside down. Isn’t that cool?! You could even make a cool, swooshy-looking ying-yang kinda logo out of it to market it! It would be aweso….sigh, I’m tired.

Just my two cents.

Vareen – again, I’m very sorry you’ve spent so much money with no reward.

Gem shop: Permanent TP NPC, Golden Moa Pet?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Vawn.3041

Vawn.3041

For the right price, even a moderately high one, I would outright buy (with gems) a permanent Trading Post NPC, but buying keys and hoping for the best is a no-go. Would you consider adding this to the gem shop for those of us willing to pay for one?

Also, where are the Golden Moas pets for Rangers? If there are no plans for putting them in game, then here’s my wallet. How about adding them for a fair price ($20-$25 in gems doesn’t sound unreasonable.) Heck, I’d buy one! I just want my yellow bird, dagnabit!

What does everyone else think?

9/19 TP outage and how it has affected my gameplay today

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Vawn.3041

Vawn.3041

Hey guys,

Since approximately 6pm EST, Friday Sep 21, I no longer receive payment for items I sell. I can replicate this at will by posting a single copper ore at the highest bidder’s price. I choose this item because it is cheap (i.e., I can perform the test many times with negligible loss) and has liquidity such that the sale occurs almost instantly.

Seconds later I observe the sale has moved into my “Items I’ve sold” tab, but there is no payment in the Pickup Tab. This has not changed in over 24 hours, my total receive funds holds at zero.

If someone else is interested and is kind enough to volunteer their time, it might be useful (for us all) to have someone take a video recording of the copper-sale experiment described above and post it on our favorite video-sharing site (YouKnow the one I’m talking about). But be careful to idle in the Pickup tab long enough to make it clear that no payment is coming if you do. That would publicly document the phenomena for everyone’s reference, and hopefully serve well for the sake of non-repudiation.

Anyway, I hope this problem is resolved. I am the Quark of Guild Wars 2 – BLTC is the game for me and I sincerely hope to be able to enjoy it. (how many of you understood the Quark reference? Look in the mirror, point, and say “Nerd” if you did)

Rule of Acquisition #314: When the Black Lion Trading Company bars you from engaging in trade – Game Over.
