Why are people struggling on this? I did it on my first try before the game restarted for the hot fix.

Don’t grab the fragile buff if no vortex is up. When the light + vortex is up make sure you grab the light buff first (as in the color, not the no condition damage thing), then fragile and then stand directly on top of the vortex till it has it and then kill it.

Cause I did that and still did like 20 damage per hit, and got interrupted every 2 seconds. Another buggy living story (surprise surprise)

You’re not supposed to deal damage to the boss, you deal damage through the killing the vortexes.

Rather you’re not supposed to kill the boss through direct damage.

Grab every single fractured debuff (the debuff has a timer on you but NOT on the vortexes), put it on ALL of the shadow vortex thingies. Again there is no countdown before the debuff ends once on the vortexes. Once all of them have the debuff proceed to destroy every single one in 1 swift movement (they all take 1 hit when they have the debuff). Viola you now have the achievement.

This achievement is impossible. I didn’t talk to Canach so I could kill ALL of the mordrem wolves and set up the mines. Once everything was cleared I talked to Canach and went back to the corpse that triggers Caithe and her squad spawning. Within seconds 3 priory died in her squad because they get butt-kittened by all the mordrem that spawn right on top of them. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get to them in time and prevent them from dying.

I would like more dmg than i would get with PVT

You can go full zerker and still be really kitten tanky. My necro is using a wells build in wvw and despite being full zerker I survive longer than my kitten engi that’s using celestial at around 3.2k armor.

For zerging you would go either celestial or clerics with elixir infused bombs.
Celestial is also useful if you wanted to do a celestial rifle power build for roaming.

Regenerating mist could use an extra second in the water field.
Cleansing burst’s waterfield is fine.
Super Speed is already a stunbreaker, last portion is unreasonable
Medkit buff would be extremely unreasonable, imagine an entire zerg having 5 engis, that’s 15 medpacks (15k hp) EVERYONE can pick up.
The condi removal on Elixir R would be nice since it only removes 1 condi on impact.

The asking of boon strips is specifically for the retal which hurts a lot of the people farming due to cleaving. Once the lich summons his minions it becomes a masochist’s dream world.

I’m pretty sure grenades underwater is the strongest aquatic damage possible. If I could use FT, I don’t see why Id ever use it over nades.

Only if they hit (which most of the time they don’t). Underwater the grenades go into seperate directions for no reason. Like 1 of your 3 grenades will actually hit and the others will go kitten off somewhere else. You have to be in melee range for the nades to even hit and even then you’re better off with the bomb kit in that case.

Charr or Asura for Engineer?

I would say Asura.

In PvE, the FT mightstack combo is pretty bread and butter for an engi to stack might with, and since asura are both the smallest and shortest race in the game, with the way Flame Blast is designed currently, that combo is easiest to do on them.

Charrs are on the opposite spectrum for being tall and wide, so its a nightmare mightstacking with a flamethrower on them.

Anet has also openly stated that Charrs are a minority race in the game and so fixing all the clipping issues with them are low on their agenda.

All in all, I would advice not playing a charr engi unless you really love the race that much.

Size of your character doesn’t make any difference at all.

You’d be surprised at the amount of players (noobs or elitists) who still LoS stack for random encounters after the FGS nerf. But when you pug, you take what you can get.

Because warriors get their full whirlwind damage against a wall, targeted ground aoe skills on a wall will mostly land next to that wall potentially increasing your damage, and last but not least the boss won’t move around everywhere when someone moves away from the stack.

I just use Q, E, and R.
Even though I have a Logitech G600 I only use the 6 button on the mouse to heal and the middle mouse for the elite.

Correct me if I’m wrong guys but, isn’t it know pointless to have 2 sigils of the same category on a weapon.
i.e. 2 on hit sigils won’t activate , 2 stack sigils won’t activate

Dunno how long ago you played but this was changed forever ago. 2 on hit sigils will stack with each other now, 2 on kill sigils will stack with each other, 1 on hit 1 on kill sigil will stack. Basically every type of sigil have seperate cooldowns now instead of sharing them.

Previously if I had an on hit sigil with cd of 10 sec and a on crit sigil with a cd of 5 sec. The on hit sigil could overwrite the on crit sigil and make them both 10 sec cd and only one would activate at a time. Now both of them will activate any time and have their own cds.

Ok wow, this is literally what my human fem engi looked like before I rerolled norn. Like literally the colors and armor pieces are exactly what I was using (colors are maybe not 100% the same, but they’re pretty close).

bombkit, nades, rifle-turret, static discharge (s/d is a trait in the invetions line)
go full berserk (power precision ferocity) and spam your turrets BA(belt-ability), as well nades #3/#2/ nades – BA / rifle #3 / #5 and bombkit auto.

learn your cooldowns and keep them all on cd.
Since you will stack often in dungeons, the build should look like this:

Since runes of strength are frekkin expensive, you can go with runes of the pack and sigil of fire instead of strength for the beginning.

Rangers actually bring something to the group though (spotter, frost spirit). Necros have diddly squat for the group.

I used gear shield before and signet of spite hit me through it regardless :/.

Then I had a teammate back me up (I still got downed due to the ridiculous amount of fears and my stunbreak was on cooldown from a previous fight). Necro starts to talk kitten “oh you still got downed 2v1, l2engi” Not sure he realizes how ridiculous a necro is to engi :/.

Celestial isn’t burst spec at all. Your build is pretty much primed for static discharge burst but you’re not running that so you’re gimping yourself if you want to burst.
Even if that wasn’t your goal you have no survivability other than invigorating speed. Kit refinement is pretty terrible especially when you’re running a 3 kit build cause you’re going to end up proccing the wrong one and then have to wait 20 seconds universal cooldown.

My idea of a perfectly balanced engineer for sPvP would include blocking, stealth, some burst potential, and some decent condition cleanse. I like Incendiary Powder, but I don’t like RNG for my kill combos. I’ll try any suggestions in hot join until I get comfortable. I might use Tool Kit instead of Flamethrower kit for the block, but I like FT’s mid-range options.”

Your “up next” portion is pretty much what I’m using right now in spvp (I mostly hotjoin unless I can get a group for tpvp. Filthy casual, I know :P)

I swap out elixir gun for elixir S when I feel like I need stealth more but the block and pull from toolkit are awesome and the grenade kit is useful for the conditions it applies and its power scaling (freeze nades to increase CD times and the damage it deals, shrapnel for the bleeds and damage, poison to reduce the amount of healing aka healing signet warriors)
This isn’t a burst build by any means but it has enough damage to keep people pressured only problem is condition builds will always be a problem especially terror necros.

Anet really needs to un-nerf kit refinement btw. 20 second global cooldown for some mediocre skills is a bit silly. I get that the 100 nades build was ridiculous but you took it too far anet.

I see a lot of engineers recently that throw their healing turret down and never overcharge it and just leave it out. Then they detonate it for no reason.

I just use dagger offhand or axe if reflects are needed (cause I only rely on myself for reflects due to incompetent pugs). I rarely use either bow and greatsword I just use for the mobility. Thanks for the response though.

It doesn’t. They were changed to the point that only 1 grenade will actually travel to the target and the other 2 (or 1 if no trait) will kitten off into random directions for no reason. Literally with grenade barrage you will hit like 2 out of the 7 nades. It’s ridiculous.

I have not tested it myself, but the wiki does state:

“A warrior is wielding a greatsword with both a Superior Sigil of Air (chance to deal additional damage to target on hit) and a Superior Sigil of Earth (chance to inflict Bleeding on hit) attached to it. Both sigils will roll their chance to activate on every attack the warrior makes, and each sigil will run its own cooldown timer after it activates.”

So, you may be right in that case. I am still, mentally, a hold out of some of the old rules and their release page didn’t give many good example, TBH.

That page in the wiki hasn’t been updated yet. Every sigil can work with every sigil now but you cannot stack 2 of the same sigil. For example I cannot use a superior sigil of air and stack it with another superior/major/minor sigil of air.

I believe the tooltip was wrong. I remember it pulsing every second but I could be wrong. I haven’t used bomb kit in a long time.

It’s a change not a bug. If you hover your mouse over the item you will see “Transmuted ____” stating what is transmuted ontop of it. It’s a really stupid change but it’s not a bug unfortunately.

Dailies not resetting properly

Dailies reset but I continue to have all 5 completed even after reset making me miss the reward entirely. This has been happening since the patch came out and my reward tracks aren’t resetting properly either. Neither are my dungeons so I don’t get any rewards at all from dungeons I already ran.

Basically anything that relies on a daily reset ISN’T RESETTING!

Greatsword Stance?

Oh, I may have understood the term “greatsword” wrong :P.

I assumed greatswords to be massive, and like twice as heavy as a longsword. Because of that assumption, I also assumed greatswords were absolutely useless in most situations, and reall clunky to use :P.

But I guess ‘greatsword’ is just another word, and has the same meaning as longsword. I still think most ‘greatswords’ in gw2 are kind of oversized, though. I feel silly for not realizing it’s the same thing xD.

There’s nothing wrong with Nebenhut, I actually used that exact site before, and tried it out, but I prefer other guard positions :P.

AFAIK “Greatsword” is a made-up word, or at least a word that did not exist before modern times. The correct (historical) term for a sword you need 2 hands to wield is Longsword.

D&D is a major offender in this case because it refers to 1-handed swords as longswords, and probably one of the main reasons people get medieval weapon technology terms mixed up.

Yup, I actually just realised greatsword pretty much IS a longsword. I assumed greatswords were these oversized anf weighted swords that gav you spear-like range… Which would be impractical. The way games portray “greatswords” also makes them look massively oversized.

Greatswords are NOT made up and are most definitely not a long sword…

Both are quite practical and realistic compared to real life swords that were used. Maybe just a bit too large, but nothing more. The 2nd one’s handle is pretty long, but not ridiclious.

Greatswords ARE a thing. A longsword is 1handed.

So the tooltip no longer states that it’s 100% chance on crit (and from what I can tell while playing it definitely isn’t 100% chance anymore) and yet it retained the 10 second cooldown.

I think a Norn Ranger is not a common partnership. I don’t think I recall seeing one.

Are you serious? Norn Rangers are one of the most common race to class combos next to Asura Engineers and Charr Warriors.

Engineering in WvW as RP

^ further to the good points these guys stated, I’d say there’s lots of opportunities for RP type Engi-roles in WvW.

I can only speak combat wise, but as an example, last night playing for Desolation in Baruch Bay (I think) we had catapulted that corner of their wall down right at the left hand side of the map past the supply camp (can’t remember the name of the keep?)

Anyway, we had catapulted the wall down and moved further in ready to launch an attack on the keep. Enemy zerg were trying to push back in, but we had them bottlenecked through the hole in the wall we’d created.

I posted up on the top of the enemy wall right above where the bottleneck was and spent 5 minutes just raining grenades onto the bottleneck with the odd break to chuck a Supply Crate Drop or an Elixir Gun 5 down for the friendly melee fighters below. Held wave after wave off with a smaller force and managed to take the keep.

Was good fun and a good example of how if you play smart, play different and position yourself well constantly, you’ll always have a kinda Engineer-y RP situation to invent (see what i did there) in WvW.

That’s not RPing. That’s just using what tools are given to you at the moment. My advice is to never RP in a pvp setting, ever. Seriously whenever I saw Celestial Hills in TERA during a battlegrounds match I would groan very loudly over the mic because 9 times out of 10 they would RP and our team would lose as a result due to them not actually playing competitively but rather from an RP standpoint.
So during PVP just leave your RP boots at the door and pick them back up when you return.

OK, so I grabbed my engi (and an extra set of spinal blades that was going to him anyway), and went in. Additional spoilers incoming!

There is more info on the other two consoles (I assume it was not mentioned by the OP, as the dragon was the main point): The drill was designed as a sort of magical ‘keg tap,’ pulling out magic from the ley lines and letting it flow freely there. Its also autonomous, and will continue to function even after Scarlet’s death (probably even after wiping everything else from the map too).

My own conclusions from this:
1) LA is officially nuked for the duration. Probably well past LS Chapter 2.
2) LA will probably become the dragon’s roost once woken up. And/or the focus for every other major fight (requiring large amounts of magic) from here onwards.

can I ask why LA would be the dragons roost, in the final scene where you see the line going through scenery etc it cuts through kryta, through the thermo reactor in metrica province and out into the forest west of rata sum where it sinks into the ground and we see the dragon, surely there would be its home.

Re-read his post. The drill is like a keg-tap. She just basically released a whole lotta magic in LA from drilling into the ley line and Modremoth woke up because of it. The first thing I’m expecting him to do is get his scaley butt to LA and devour that magic.

The biggest problem here is you dont get hit by YOUR condition. You get hit by everyones conditions. So I get punished for other people not paying attention to the boss mechanics.

As a condition user since day 1 I do feel the pain of conditions being useless, it cuts my dps in half. But the killer is i’ll get burned, 7 stacks of bleed, 5 stacks of confusion, poisoned, and 3 stacks of torment. I dont even have a way to inflict torment, burn, or poison on the weapons i’m using.

Actually it does seem limited to your own conditions, but with a few problems: combo effects are applied on the caster of the finisher, so random poison/fire fields will hurt the wrong people. And then there’s guardians for burning, and some trolls seem to be running venomshare thief for torment+chill+immobilise…

This logic fails kitten the fact that every condi skill has a direct damage part while not every direct damaging skill has conditions on it.
Swap weapons and try to be effective.

Except some condi skills don’t have direct damage (at least glamour mesmer and other fields), and the damage that is dealt is abysmal.

And what about my crit suggestion? Or just throw in a token healing aura that can sustain anyone attacking in dire/rabid gear.

Actually I get hit with other people’s conditions too. I got hit with an immobilize for some reason and I never touched my Rifle #2 skill.

Engineers suffer from this as well, my primary ranged damage weapon (grenades) applies conditions. Even though I’m using a power build I suffer from the conditions.

It is actually not really clear what we have seen.

We saw the Ley lines explode, breaking through the surface (why, i dont know. just because they were pierced by the drill? this certainly needs more elaboration…. oh wait.. Scarlet did it) in different directions…

The last pictures were indeed not the Maguuma jungle but more likely Orr, going into the ocean and maybe under the ocean floor.

We then see some teeth, resembling thorns at first, but quickly turning blueish green, oceanic.

So in the end it is not actually confirmed which dragon it is. It could be Mordremoth, but Bubbles is not outside the possibilities.

It’s not Bubbles, not even close. The ley line magic starts heading downwards once it reached a forest/jungle and then it reached the dragon. Bubbles is somewhere hiding in the sea.
