yes starting a /m conversation espacially if it’s not in English and the megaserver shard you are in is “multi-ethnic” it won’t be appreciated.

However, when I see people complaining about this, I usually recommend them to use the language filter, after that they shut up.

I strongly disagree about trolls in WvW however. Also, when rookies ask question in the chat, people respond and respond quickly.

It is mostly a lengthy discussion about the ability of small guilds to have GH and the emerging consensus that GH
should not be locked behind a conditions like “the guild must have X nb of members to have a GH”

Contributors agreed that a hybrid system that requires both merits, influence and achevements is the

On the topic of cost scaling:
I think one solution to the scaling problems is to create different aspects that work on different scales.
For example some aspects can be time gated and therefore don’t favor any size guild. Some can be based on straight up farming which favor larger guilds, and some could be driven by activity and favor guilds with active members.
Think of it like the 3 branches of government, and the aspects within that.

I think in that way the question that comes to mind is what parts of Guild Halls would you want to have work in what different ways so that we can reward big guilds for those areas but not punish small guilds for the things they really want…

By inherently adding Guild Halls to a game that becomes a core piece of guilds where it not only makes the system more integrated and potentially more interesting through how these pieces of systems interact, but also is likely to make things more clear by physically representing what is happening to players.

I suppose you could have different lockouts based on the size of the hall made available, a solo guild wouldn’t need a massive castle, and could have a solo-based quest to unlock it, while a massive guild would want a massive castle, and could require an epic campaign across Tyria to unlock it

Guild Halls should be divided into classes or qualities. Basic Guild Halls should be free (low barrier to entry) but higher quality guild halls (more space, more benefits etc.) should be more difficult to acquire and have some sort of upkeep.

All functions a hall can provide can technically be achieved in the open world, and generally should be. The benefit of the guild hall is more an RP thing, you’d have a unique space that you could hopefully make reflect the flavor of your guild

Proposal Overview:

Upgrade for the Guild Hall : subcontractor crafter. A QoL upgrade to introduce new players to crafting.

Goal of the proposal
Allow rookies in the guild to refine their materials and get introduced to crafting without forcing them to level up their craft.

VodCom, why are you suggesting this ?
Allow me to tell you a story:
My guild recently recruited rookies that never played the game before. When they asked about crafting we told them that they should better get to level 80 and accumulate a few gold coins. Once they accumulated the sufficient funds, we introduced them to crafting and they used their financial power to get to level 400 quickly and proceed to craft their end-game gear.

However they had a problem. During their level up, their bank and inventories became invaded with unrefined raw material. They understood naturally that armorsmiths would use ore. However they were not sure about keeping cloth, leather or jewels or just selling them.

I think guild halls could get an upgrade that could solve this issue.

Proposal Functionality:

A subcontractor crafter is:
+an upgrade of guild crafting stations
+a crafting station that can refine anything up to level 450 (rookies can store more mats in the bank without having to level up the craft or rely on others)
+is unlocked separately for each crafting profession (requires at least one member of level 500 in the given profession)
+comes along with an NPC that detail to rookies :
-> Which profession use what
-> Has the NPE tutorial on crafting
-> Can include tips and tricks for crafting (guild officers are the ones that write these tips)

Ex: “Don’t try to level your crafting level at the same time as you level your first character : it is not worth it”
“Exotic Celestial recipes are too expensive, go directly for ascended”
etc…

Associated Risks:

Reducing the incentives to level your crafting for any of your character, since you can now access to a marginal crafting for free.

Have representations of guild halls scattered around the cities. They wouldn’t be functional, just skins replacing some existing buildings.
Have a few themed guild halls in the open world maps in places you can’t reach. Maybe a mountain fortress high in the mountains of Lornars Pass or an Airship flying overhead, or a small tree guild hall just outside of Caledon.
The key would be tasteful representations and not massive overcrowding.

Just as a reminder to everyone. When ANet added the mechanic to the champion wraith in the grenth temple which drained everything in an AOE and it had to be CC’d to stop it, literally every time without fail for weeks on end nobody would CC and there would be a massive wipe.

Well, besides the normal quality of average players, Anet did forget here that Defiant in bigger player groups makes interrupting on demand practically impossible.

It had the base defiant that bosses in dungeons have. I’m pretty sure 10% of a 60-man zerg can CC a boss with defiant on.

Defiance scales by how many players are around it, iirc. In 80+ zergs, it will likely stack to 77. So you require at least 78 hard CCs to consistently remove stacks of defiance and interrupt again.

I saw the wraith being interrupted more than once, often without anyone even realizing that they should spam cc skills. They acted the way they are used to without trying to understand. You know what ? It worked.

It appears that in a giant zerg people don’t just spam 1: they button smash everything, resulting in much more cc being used that you can imagine.

And if it’s the whole “I don’t want to have to use a third party voice program”, is it really killing people to download like some 2mb file, go in to a TS and literally just sit silently while listening to commanders giving instructions?

People say they want content more interesting than zerg press 1, but then they place personal restrictions like “I don’t want to have to use a teamspeak or join a guild or for it to be instanced” and then it’s like … well how is this going to work then?

Don’t give up on humanity just yet.
People are usually obtuse and stupid when you screm loud in the /map channel saying that you are holding the absolute truth (even though you hold the absolute truth in this case).

I found out that using mp and whispers works much better on these kind of people (not a 100% efficient ofc).

And just remember that anet created megabosses with a moderate succes. So all is not lost. Instanced guild raids could be a success, and I have confidence in any new megaboss they could add.

GW2 “end game” is about fashion, playing around and giving yourself different looks. The old PvP lockers allowed for a lot of playing around with armour skins that you have unlocked, as well as getting better previews than the preview window. Unfortunately that functionality no longer exists.

A potentially neat idea would be to basically bring that functionality back for a sort of “Guild Hall fashion room” upgrade so to speak, where people are free to change their looks without eating up their transmutation charges. Perhaps even give upgrades to allow for “free” hair style kit usage within this designated area as well. You would actually have to spend the charges/hair style kit to keep the look outside this designated area.

This would allow for a lot more use of skins that may otherwise not see as much use due to the trans charge restrictions, bringing back the functionality of the pre-wardrobe PvP lockers for testing out unlocked armour looks.

I guess we’ll have to integrate a room with control of the light conditions as well.

Some armour/sylvari look nice only in very specific lighting conditions.

It can also be of use for some guild group screenshots.

About Progression, of all what I have seen I still think collecting / unlocking blue-prints in the world (no influence, no gold) and build, customize and add functions your guild-hall with the help of them still seems like the most interesting and engaging way of progression.

It would also solve the big guild / small guild issue because you could easily lock stuff you think any guild should have access to behind content easy doable for smaller guilds. (like a dungeon path)

When you are talking about progression, it is about the visuals of the GH, the functionnalities or both ?
Because it can become easy to lock stuff behind challenges that are possible only for large guilds (eg. hosting tequatl), which brings back the inital problem.

I find it nice that You want to take the work away from me through basically cloning my Thread and the honorary mention of me is nice, but my own version of the Phase 2 will be definetely completely different and more fleshed out than this, what I’ve done in this conscise style just only for Phase 1, because it was obvious, that Phase 1 will get flooded by tons of brainstormed ideas and there it was important for me and my summary only to catch up all unique ideas in a quick and clean way that anybody can overlook easily.

But now with Phase 2, there is no need anymore to be super conscise, now we have only 1 clear topic – Guild Halls – and so the structure of that related summary can be a bit more full of descriptions, sub points ect. to give that topic more structure.

Sadly I hadn’t lately much time, so I couldn’t be able to keep my summary on pace with the CDI GH Thread, which I think is the reason, why You started this Thread now.
But I think I will take some time over the next Weekend to get my summary about Phase 2 started and I’ll make sure that this thread will find somewhere its place inside of it.

Organised groups are the minority in gw2.

Therefore it seems to me that it is actually the top 5% who are the ones stacking queen and it’s the 90% of pugs who are ranging.

True. I’m getting sleepy so my post might not be perfectly proofread.

My point was : I tried to “range” the taskmaster in CoF P1 as a zerker thief. Good lord it hurts. I changed to knight and everything got smoother… and a bit slower (note : I am not a good player by any stretch of imagination).

Either I do things according to the meta way and it’s boring. Or I do things the pug way and I better switch back to knight because I’m not a good player.

Quick illustration of an alliance hub attached (in leui of a separate hall) The hub would always be the same style and it’s entire purpose would be linking guild halls together to form one very large “hall”. When a guild leaves, there would be a “blank” template that takes it’s spot until it’s filled. No fighting, no loss of upgrade contributions, etc.

Thought about this while I was starting to read you post. That’s an engaging idea. I wonder if GW2 has a technology to generate maps on the fly like this. IIRC, only fixed versions of the existing maps are stored on our hard drives.

Any dev can answer this ?

That is a big part of the problem with zerker in general. Unless they use other universally annoying tactics for the mobs, Beserker stats just dominate overall. Anet goes for the 1-2 hit K.O. which invalidates the need for toughness or healing mechanics that could be used to support that gameplay. They pretty much wrote themselves into a corner when they decided beserker stats was a good idea.

I think many people miss the point on the berserker dominance “issue”.

Optimized groups DO have the trinity of damage/control/support. Control come in the form of projectile negation and bump, support comes in the form of aegis, protection and might. Players can perform these roles while wearing zerker/assassin.

Berserker is not bad because it deals the most damage. It is bad because under the current system it allows you to clear most bosses quickly enough to skip their entire fight mechanic.

The most overused example is how optimised groups can clear the spider queen in AC. Most of us PuG AC. In this context, the group usually range the spider and try to dodge its poison areas (you do not stand idle pressing 1 while doing this btw). While repetitive and boring, it does require you to know when to dodge and when to clean immobilize.
An optimised group usually kills the spider under 4 seconds, which prevent the boss to use any of its attacks (including poison area) basically neutering the encounter and making it uninteresting, since you are just repeating your rotation and the might stacking. And the only thing you do during almost every encounter in the kitten ed dungeon is repeat the sequence pre-stack -> rotation. This makes things boring very quickly.

Berzerker gear was intended to be the gear of the top 5% elite players because only these people are skilled enough to be viable with such fragility. Because of loopholes in encounter design, 90% of the people can carry berserker armour and be viable in dungeon. This is the true problem behind the berserker dominance. Berserker stat is not a problem in itself and removing it won’t change anything.

what about raids ?

The major danger of implementing raids especially if its a 2-party-of-five dungeon is to have most of its interesting elements neutralized by the same tactic.
Having giant overpowered monsters like tequatl that are immuned to criticals and render condition builds ineffective because of engine limitations has at least two qualities :
– the optimized gear is not berserker anymore (it’s PVT)
– you have more leeway in what gear you can bring
– no way you can find a strategy that is so efficient that you wreck the megaboss before it can unleash its attacks, making it a challenge just because you have to stay on your toes even though you know the encounter by heart.

Yup, I agree, but that 1% is what I mainly use my condi necro for over the past 8-9-months: dealing with the champ husks at the Tripple-Trouble Wurm event.

So, my scepter/dagger get a good workout at least once per day …:p

@OP : if you want build advices for necro, you might want to check Spoj guide and nemesis’s youtube. Both have some nice ideas that you can try out. I’m not saying that all builds proposed are effective everywhere, but each of them creates a different sensation of gameplay.

On the topic of guild visibility in the open world.

How about recruiting boards ?

The recruiting board could be located close to the guild bank NPCs in the cities. Allows players to see which guild are recruiting and what are their level of requirement. Add a filter function that include “proportion of people from your server”; “size”; “sPvP, WvW, PvE, PvX centered guild” etc…

This “upgrade” should be purchasable under the category of “politics” for a small cost in influence.

Good categories. I agree influence is not a good system and we should think about how we would change how you obtain upgrades once we have talked through the specifics of what kind of upgrades a new system has and how it incorporates the existing upgrades.

The system influence/merits system is by no mean perfect however I do not think a massive revamp is necessary (like supression of glory in spvp).

The massive flaw of the merits is that they are earned only through PvE guild mission and this excludes WvW and sPvP centered guilds. Introducing new ways to earn merits in the two modes is a good start.

As far as I understand, influence is a “measure” of the activity of the members of the guilds and merits reward your achievments done collectively as a guild.

Also, as others suggested earlier, we’ll need new guild challenges and event that need to be done as a guild.

the true problem imho is that “influence” serves a purpose that is normally fulfilled by “money”; therefore “influence” should be recalibrated to be proportional and reflect the amount of efforts invested in a certain area of the game.
I really think we have way too many currencies…

The problem with influence is that it is literally gold, you can buy as much of it as you want for gold meaning anything you put behind just influence will be unlocked immediately and not by the active guilds, by the whales and TPer’s.

Proposed change :
Replace influence with a guild funding pool: a common pool of gold that every member can contribute to. Nobody can withdraw money from this pool and it can only be spent for guild upgrades/consumables etc… What provided influence now adds gold to the pool.

This frees up influence for some other use. What kind of use exactly ? I don’t know.

Looking at the ToL top 4 team composition can give you an idea of how well classes perform in team PvP. This has nothing to do with the efficiency of the same class in hotjoin PvP (the meta is completely different).

In WvW, the meta is still (IIRC) the good old GWEN meta for zerging. The changes are relevant if you belong to a havoc team or doing solo roaming (I don’t know this area of the game well so I won’t give any advice).

In general PvE, take whatever you want, everyone can shine. The only place where classes are relevant is the speed clear niche gameplay.

The forums are useful for 3 things :
– looking for pinned guide threads. These are very well done. Don’t look at the “post your build” threads, they are confusing as hell.
– asking for tips (and only tips)
– whining, which is the prevalent activity of the Internet.

you might want to step away from the meta in the open world : dagger/warhorn + staff is also ok. Some also like DW + Axe/focus.

In speed clear groups people will expect you to carry what oxtred said.

A way to solve this problem is to chain death blossom followed by heart seeker while having your target locked.

This will bring you back in auto-attack range.

This discussion is going nowhere.

We don’t have data or knowledge about the market for precursors. Period. As long as we don’t have official and complete data, you have the choice between :

- grinding for the precursor of a shiny legendary that you want everyone to see.
– buying a precursor for a niche use legendary (torch, focus, warhorn, UW weapons)
– trying to forge your precursor

I suggest the whiners to stop whining for their own sanity and mine, because this is the way it is since day 1 and until an hypothetical precursor hunt, NOTHING will change.

Raising 1 copper is fair game. Trying to shoehorn a minimum “raising” amount won’t solve your problem, people will continue to outbid you when you aren’t looking.

What’s with all this hatred towards complex and challenging content? Are the people against raids even interested in the core game mechanics?

I don’t think it’s hatred toward complex content, rather a mix of :
- what is a raid in GW2 ? Is it a megaboss (teq, wurm) ? a 10 man dungeon ? a 25 player dungeon ? The more I read this thread, the more I think we (including me) are arguing over totally different things.
Personnaly I am a lot in favor of new megabosses (and the return of previous ones) however I am deeply against 10 player dungeons.

- Are there any mechanics in GW2 that prevent group based instanced content to be facerolled using the same tactic over and over again (i.e zerker stacking) without making it obnoxiously hard/long for players that do not optimize their characters at 100% ?

- Remember that no developer has been able to pull out content faster than the players chew through it. I am wondering whether implementing any raid is worth the effort. Why not trying something else (something more sandbox) ?

People that are in favor of this type of content all seem bored to no end by repeating the same dungeons over and over again. For them, it looks like like raids could be at the same time, a step up in difficulty and required coordination as well as new content to try.

Mechanics are here, stat combos are here, the trinity (Damage/Control/Support) is here in any form of PVP. I believe before the Raid CDI they should do a Mob CDI, how to redesign every single mob to use more PVP-like abilities that will make PVE better and not just Damage/Damage/Damage.

You have me regain faith in humanity. Thanks for summing this up so nicely.

And there is no need to level the playing field. Bigger guilds can and should be able to do more as long as small guilds also can have a shot at everything. Just as in the step one option.

As I said earlier, not scaling the rewards implies that :
- either larger guild trivialize the building of a guild hall (they have tons of influence to spend immediately on this)
or
– having a nice guild hall is impossible for smaller guilds (takes too much time to gather all the influence/merits)

This is why I proposed the scaling in the first place. So that the majority of guilds can build get their hall and customise it in a reasonable amount of time while keeping the sense of accomplishment. It does not have to pusnish, there is a difference between a large guild getting a reward 10% faster than a small guild and getting the same reward 400% faster, the former being where I am aiming

Larger guilds will have the advantage of unlocking more options quicker (since the requirement does not scale) as well as boasting more trophies and accomplishments, because of higher pool of players (much more likely to have 5 great players of sanctum sprint in a 400 ppl guild than in a 20 ppl one).
