Yep, sPvP should be balanced separately. WvW would probably have to retain PvE stats but that’s acceptable.
If there are servers with dominant WvW groups they’ll end up matched against similar servers. In general I’m against close to limitless potential to be “better” than the other people by putting in more time and effort but in this case there isn’t much to gain by such “hardcore” play.
In general I feel like there should be a flexible cap on the number of people from a server in a map even if the opposing servers’ players aren’t in. For example 1:1:1 in Eternal battlegrounds and 6:2:2 advantage for the home server in the borderlands. Other than that it’s ok to attack during the off hours, it’s part of the WvW concept. Just look at most browser based strategy games.
Have you heard? This is a bad time to be travelling. xD
As with anything, add an option to turn these sounds off.
Yep, I also noticed some new, unnatural rattling sounds.
For me the problem starts with writing because it’s really cheesy and grandiose so you can’t really approach it as your character. I like Claudia Christian and I think with better writing the character would have been more likable but as it’s now you can’t take it seriously at all. It’s like a cheesy B movie, if you can laugh at it you can enjoy it, otherwise you’ll hate it.
Yep, these issues are quite frequent…
The selection is quite poor, especially when one is a short channelled ability and two are abilities which change your first 5 skills. I’d definitely like something which lets me use my regular skills. I’m not talking about strength but about design in general.
I hope they don’t plan on reordering the abilities every time they change the cooldowns. I expect it to be put back in the original order.
Meaning that if the game isn’t playable with Core 2 Duo it shouldn’t have been in the minimal requirements in the first place. I’m not convinced they’ll manage to make it playable so that’s why I think they should at least backtrack on their official minimal requirements.
So far I have experience only with the Norn personal story. Early on I thought “oh, this is so cheesy” and then it hit me…the opening intro is cheesy already, so why am I surprised? While in most Bioware games I had issues with bad writing, terrible dialogue options and annoying good/evil restrictions because story is the focus of the game, here I’m not that extremely invested and I don’t take it overly seriously. It’s like watching a decent B movie, you enjoy it, the good and the bad (all hail Solomon Kane!) On top of that I’m a fan of Claudia Christian so I’ve enjoyed it.
A good story requires a great deal of immersion, perfectly framed gameplay without annoying constrictions and a grey, non-numerical system of morals/allegiance. My favourite examples would be the Witcher, Mafia or The chronicles of Ridkitten. This is something not very compatible with MMOs and that’s why I look for singleplayer games with a good story while MMOs draw me with polished sandbox elements and RP is the best found in text based games (or in Neverwinter Nights multiplayer). So all in all, I’m ok with the way it worked out. I love bits here and there, don’t hate the rest.
The prices are all over the place. Some materials are too uncommon, especially the tier 1, most of the materials are way too cheap. The problem is that everyone can both harvest and craft. Harvesting should be a separate “craft” so that there is a proper supply and demand. In order to facilitate a proper trading cycle you want harvesters and crafters to depend on each other. With the amount of hacking and farming and gold selling it’s a bad idea to make crafts independent.
Hopefully there will be a traditional ladder ranking system, otherwise there would be very little point to playing WvW.
Imo just remove Finish them off and actually attack and kill downed people.
What he said.
I’ve already commented on a similar issue:

You shouldn’t be worried, as with any other “ladder” the longer WvW runs the better should the match-ups be. If there are servers with dominant WvW groups they’ll end up matched against similar servers. In general I’m against close to limitless potential to be “better” than the other people by putting in more time and effort but in this case there isn’t much to gain by such “hardcore” play.
Working as intended. Running is a penalty for death and it can be circumvented by expensive waypoint upgrades.
As I’ve already said, remove the repair cost or at least reduce it greatly (it’s PvP after all) and put in a waypoint cost. Your penalty for death is the time it takes you to get back to battle, that’s a penalty enough.
Ditto, Code 2 Duo shouldn’t be included in the minimum system requirements, it’s not realistic.
