GW2 rewards those to use game mechanics to succeed. In fact, the game was made in a way that forces people to play smart, or be punished by the computer AI.
What reward? What playing smart? What ‘being punished by the AI’???
You go into the fight on the mercy that 6 people aren’t afk and know what they’re doing, while everyone else mashes 1 just like before. If those 6 people are doing their job, the zerg doesn’t need to do ANYTHING.
Being punished by the AI = Not getting a chance at the grand RNG wheel, which never pays out?
Hope everyone enjoys their blues and greens for content that is 100x more reliant on individual players not trolling than before.
This isn’t elite content. This is barely content at all.

No pain or discomfort here either, but I have had moments of that feeling that you’re moving when you’re standing still all while trying to make jumps. Like I said, not painful or anything, just one of those whoa kitten moments.
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
I feel your pain. That jump is terrible. Half the time you faceplant against the wall when you knew you should have made it, the other half your character does one of those kitten no-effort jumps and doesn’t even clear the tree.
Honestly, I thought it was just a Charr thing until now. Strangely enough, the bigger the character, the easier time I have with corner wall-hugging jumps.
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
Yeah, I’m not a fan of making them obvious like that. It defeats the purpose. It would have been far better to make them take one heart and knock you back as opposed to killing you. You still couldn’t get past them because they knock you back, but it would be easier to deal with them without just knowing exactly where they are instantly.
A developer in another thread confirmed that this was not possible within the engine currently, so they opted for an auto-kill. I personally think having them glow is a great idea.
But… Isn’t that what the steam vent wall in the Flame & Frost Molten Facility Dungeon did? Knockback, impeded progression via that path and did damage to anyone interacting with it?

Even the most reliable internet connections can go out for a few seconds here and there. If you lose a connection for even a moment you get disconnected from the game. Now, normally this wouldn’t be a huge issue, but with SAB it is.
I’m really not here to complain, I love SAB and I think the difficulty is fine where it is. However, in World 2 Zone 2 specifically, the process of going through it to find all of the secret rooms, baubles, and assassins can take 1-2 hours even if you are using a guide. I was just in the middle of doing this and was about 95% complete when my internet went out for a moment. Now all of my progress is wasted and I have to start again, risking the same thing.
I know you could just say get a better connection but in certain areas this is the best there is, and I wager my connection is much better than many other GW2 players. Is there anyway possible that you can work on a system that saves your place in SAB (or the rest of the game) if you get disconnected and log back in within a few minutes? Or anyway to save our progress at checkpoints in SAB. Besides the disconnection issue, many people don’t have hours at a time to invest without a break. Getting these achievements and the rewards/titles absolutely requires you to be in front of your computer for multiple hours in a row and not take a break. This is fine for a MMORPG but the rest of GW2 is designed so you can jump in and out for a few minutes at a time. Even most dungeons don’t take this long to complete.
Any thoughts on this? I really am not trying to criticize and I appreciate that us players even get a chance to communicate with the devs and voice our opinions. I understand some of the things I’m asking may be difficult, or even impossible, to implement, but a few of these features would save people a lot of time and trouble without lessening any difficulty or challenge. I just hate being punished for investing my time only for a fluke to erase all of my progress.
Thanks for any response and I love the game!
If you’re just going for the meta, don’t bother with 2-2. Do 2-1 and then complete every other non ‘master of baubles’ achievement. Also, every part you can do in infantile, do on infantile mode. It really shouldn’t take hours while running the happy rainbows around.

Might as well retitle this thread as ‘[Reward] Confirmed things you can never get’ because so far in the history of patch notes they’ve only increased the ‘chance’ that precursors will drop, yet nearly everyone except a lucky few who are way too lucky, have never had one drop.
Ooh tequatl has a chance at a precursor drop? So do the wild boars in Queensdale, and they’re easier to kill.

I saw today multiple people running around with the magna kitten laude title.. so this must have been doable once…
You only have to complete the meta achievement, which means you only have to complete one of the 3 ‘Master of baubles’ zone achievements (do W2Z1! The dulfy guide is impeccable!) and then the rest of the achievements.

i finished world 1 and beat the toad king last time SAB was on – i dont have no candle or torch now. im not going to replay the other zones and farm baubles just to progress through a bunch of trees in my way, because i dont like farming. what does trees that block my way have to do with being directionally challenged? why isnt it possible to use the bombs on the trees for example? why would i need to go back and get items just to go through some trees? i dont like farming or replaying content ive already beaten so thats why i dropped it there.
thanks draknar, with this info i might give it another try. just .. are there more of those lame mechanics?
If you don’t have the candle or torch you obviously don’t get the intention of these games. Old games you needed everything. every dumb stick, rock pile of goo, haircomb, etc. for the likelihood that it would be used later in some kind of conviluded puzzle.
Yet in front of a sign that says NO FIRE and by looking over the trees you can see a kittening BEAR wearing a RANGERS HAT you can’t put two and two together to set the kittening trees on fire?
Why do you expect a bomb to be able to solve the puzzle just because you have it, while you ignored the other upgrades? Metroid required specific weapons to open doors, Castlevania required special powers to get through certain areas, why wouldn’t you expect SAB to be similar?

Yeah… even with the nerfs getting baubles isn’t hard. This is just trollbait.
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
Other than SAB, I’m finding less interest every day to log in.
Why do I have to run around waiting for world boss events for a single rare, of which won’t guarantee me an ecto (my ecto rate has been lower than ever after the ascended patch) then, I have to run around lower level areas farming up wood and ore as a part of yet more ascended mats. On top of that, I have to shard everything I get in hope for mithril and elder wood for 100 ore/150 logs a day because having to spend another gold on top of all of that is just being shot in the foot. Then if I craft an exotic with all those ectos, I have yet ANOTHER chance of not receiving back any ectos or dark matter!
Yes the magic find helps with the latter, but when I was running around in 300% and didn’t get jack for drops then either, I don’t even know…
Ascended isn’t even that big of an upgrade. Slot an exotic with a gem and you already have equivalent stats of an unslotted ascended weapon. Why bother? I’m tempted to just buy everything on the AH every day and sell the cooldowns before it stops being a profitable endeavour.

5 storm wizard skins so far! Gotta catch ‘em all!
Still need to do the shops, but I’m waiting for a friend.Even w2z2 and w2z3 are getting pretty smooth now, just the tribulation clouds are always a big pain. No matter what I do, I will always die a few times on certain parts with trib clouds.
The trib cloud with the ice and spikes and wind mouths (the one right after the first ice wall): there’s a small triangular foothold over the first mouth you can jump to and dodge-jump to the snowy patch next to the checkpoint cloud.
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
W2Z3 – Wind/Ice/Spikes/Trib Cloud checkpoint.
It’s just so far from the checkpoint and there’s so many iffy jumps in between checkpoints that I finally gave up and dodge-jumped from over the mouth to the safe area, expecting spikes to pop up after 50 lives down from doing it the legit way. Surprisingly there was no spikes.
W2Z3 – Wind/Banana/Iceskating Spike room.
If the ice doesn’t kill you, the wind does. Gah this room was surprisingly difficult.
W1Z2 – Troll rocks over lava.
I have no idea why these are so hard for me. I think I’ve spent more lives trying to find alternative ways to avoid troll rocks than I have dying to them.
W2Z2 – All the buggy checkpoints.
Oh good, made it past that hard part… NOPE.

So everyone turns a blind eye towards the massive increase of critical damage on celestial gear i guess….
Yes, because all that critical damage is useless with the critical chance that this set provides.
Which you can bypass by simply having a spec/class that either can force crits (ele/thief/ranger) or have vit/tough to precision conversion and/or precision boosts. (warrior/guardian/mesmer/ranger)
orrrr just slot everything with sigil of intelligence. (especially good with ele or kit engineer)

Ok, the gong chase is pretty difficult and was the end of my run yesterday out of frustration, but I don’t see this too far from stuff we did as kids, like having to remember left left right left right right and so on (no this isn’t the real directions for the gong).
The fact that it’s there right after the dart trap/push block and fish/assassin temple though the difficulty/frustration creeps a little fast. I feel like if they were more spread out it would have been better even with checkpoints after each temple.
The kid in me loves the nostalgia, but the adult in me says “I’m getting too old for this kitten.”
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
Older games had something like this so it’s fair to have it in this game. It doesn’t take that long to farm that many.
… except that you can only earn them daily, and the amounts that they were from the first iteration of SAB have been halved or more?
Go check under the leaf in W1Z2, that 50 bauble is now a 20. A good portion of 20’s are now 5’s… it’s the great bubble depression.

Honestly I think a majority of the perceived “too difficult” only stems from that the levels are so much longer than before, so getting knocked into the void by the first ambushing ninja out of 10 can seem rather daunting.
My only real complaint is the 400 bauble ‘buy a torch’ kittenblock at the beginning of W2Z3. The ability to farm bubbles was removed for daily, and you have the flute which is purchasable at the beginning of the level (which if you think back to W1Z3, the torch was purchasable, but you could get it free in W1Z2) which if you buy it, means you can’t complete the level? I certainly haven’t found 400 bubbles between the start of the zone and the ice wall. Who knows, there might be a goldmine to dig up? I’m certainly not digging for a single bubble 400 times at a 15% chance is all I’m saying.
I haven’t found a place that has the torch for free, but if you get partway in the level and told to just give up without paying 400 bubbles, it’s kinda rude.

I think time gated gear is a great idea
What’s the weather like in Bizarro World?
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
Celestial already has a significant stat advantage on other pieces of gear.
Celestial chest has 270 flat stats, 3% mf and 6% critdamage.
Berserker chest has 173 flat stats, no mf and 5% critdamage.Celestial has 156% the flat stats of non-Celestial gear, aswell as an extra 1% critdamage and 3% magicfind.
We see similar ratio’s across the board on other pieces of gear.Celestial has more then enough compensation. Boosting its flat stats even further just because MF is removed would just be uncalled for.
Celestial needs the compensation. That compensation is the trade off for not having a strong stat in any area.
To all those who are arguing that removing MF won’t change the combat efficiency, I suppose that they don’t have to do anything to the non-celestial MF gear either because its combat efficiency won’t be changed by its removal. Your logic is flawed.
And that compensation is that you get a COMBAT statbudget that is 60% larger then any other type.
You are losing a luxery stat, not a combat stat. Why should you be made stronger because you’re drops got nerfed?
….because it’s the only set of gear currently with time-gating? If it took you 30+ days to craft a whole set of Berserker’s gear, pitchforks and torches would be passed out and these forums would be ON FIRE.
Just because the overall consensus of Celestial gear seems to be “Meh, it’s ok? Maybe? Math is hard.” is the only reason it hasn’t escalated past a slight disagreement in the lack of compensation.
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
Been at 12/13 for the majority of the event, haven’t seen Frostgorge pop no matter how long I play.
Finished the meta achievement via dailies, don’t particularly care if it pops anymore, but the achievement points would be nice.
Lornar’s Pass and Fields of Ruin seem to pop up a LOT though, back to back even.
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
“Ridiculously difficult” and the 8-bit motif only screams one thing to me. “Pixel Perfect Jumps!”
If it is indeed that hard, there’s really no reason to collect baubles throughout the level. Finish the level. get a skin. It should be that easy. Since you can only go to levels that you’ve unlocked, this would make finishing stage three of each world in tribulation mode highly rewarding.
From the pictures though it looks as if it turns the normal levels into a “floor is lava” scenario. Perhaps those spiky … bamboo?… squares severely limit your character’s movement via only being able to jump safely to the next square.
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
I’m hoping the Storm wizard skins are just an upgrade to the SAB1 skins with maybe particle trails on sword swing or arrow shot.

I would prefer Celestial’s MF to be replaced with boon duration or something relatively equal to compensate.
Though the argument that celestial was the MF set to use is a completely valid argument, I got it more for the longevity purposes. I know that Celestial will be average no matter what spec, nerfs, class mechanics changes or random bimbo-du-jour kitch enemies they throw at us in the future.
Maybe swap around some runes and traits and you’re good to go. That’s how hard patch day will hit you from now on. Even if mf is gone forever on celestial with no compensation, it’ll still have an invisible stat of 100% discount to having to support tp flippers or spam run dungeons to get new gear.
Heck. toss 2% Boon Duration and 2% Condition Duration on each piece and I’d be extremely happy.
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
So umm… what happens to the Winter trinkets? Healing Power/Boon Duration/MF?
Simply double clicking it to turn it into a different set of gear doesn’t replace the boon duration since Winter was the only set that provided it.
Are they just going to match the Giver’s armor maybe? Toughness/HP/Boon?
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
For example, if you have an Explorer’s Pearl Staff, you can now double-click it to change it to any other crafting stat.
Hi, Martin. Could you possibly clarify this a bit? Will we be able to change all of the stats (i.e. Explorer to Celestial) or only the MF stat? (Side question: Is Sentinel’s considered a “crafting stat” since the insignias technically aren’t crafted?)
There seems to be a lot of speculation that you’ll be able to take any piece of gear with MF on it and change it to something totally different.
It sounds like exactly what he said.
Hey all, no worries, we got you covered.
Weapons, armor and trinkets with magic find will become account bound,
*****lose their current stats******
and will gain the ability to be double-clicked to select one of several stat options depending on the item.
So you click them to make a blank slate, and replace it with one of the currently craftable stat sets. I’m curious if settlers and celestial will be included in this.

Originally I was against the SAB skins being re-used for the World 2 update back when SAB was originally released, but considering that it’s been a few months and I only ever see the GS skin once in a while out in the world, I don’t particularly mind if all yearly skins are re-used and added to every year.
Once events are over and new stuff comes out, everyone shelves the old stuff except the people that can’t find anything better or truly like the aesthetics. … Except for the hologram wings. I see those things everywhere.

Going to be seriously disappointed if I drop from a buffed 300+% MF down to whatever my account MF is at now… like 5%? I’m talking like ‘debate uninstalling’ disappointed.

if you create a fun place to be and do a decent amount of stuff they will rep and only rep other guild when doing another facet of the game like pvp.
It doesn’t really work like that. Players are lazy. Unless you can supply a player with everything they want (which is pretty much impossible) they ditch you for a guild that can supply them with more, which only the mega-guilds we have today can supply.
Most of the people in my guild haven’t repped for over 3 months. We got all the way to unlocking puzzles and everyone gave up.
I don’t want to leave due to all the hard work that went into it, but I feel silly being one of the only people ever online and representing.
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
It’s making it extremely difficult to level up in these zones when none of the events are doable because level 80s steam roll them before you can even get there.
People announce the rotation regularly. Arrive at the next location before the zerg.
Being higher level doesn’t automatically make your character ‘faster’ as in arriving to such events. Swiftness is available to most classes at lv1 with the correct weapon. The only exceptions to guaranteed swiftness at lv 1 would be Thief and Engineer.
Argument is pretty moot, since this is a player error and not a game mechanic problem. It’s actually pretty great for leveling new characters, but don’t tell the 80’s that it isn’t as profitable as CS or FGS or else there’ll be no one left to kill champs in under a minute for 6-10% of a level.
