axe is good dps but mace can maintain weakness.
If you wanted to bleed stack you could maybe use sword and then choose a stat set with condition dmg and toughness ?
in open world pve trash mobbing you want to just run with axe/berserker gear. Im lame and run 5 signets (lol) with 20points in power, 10points in precision, 20points in defense, 20 points in crit dmg. +12% dmg adren, +10% crit dmg axe, +40precision/signet, blocking reflects, shield recharge, +9% crit adren. In orr i dont even heal, i just regen from healing signet and the minor train that gives 360 hp/3sec on full adren bar and sigil of blood on my shield.
In dungeon maybe use knights(?) power,precision,toughness with mace. Shouts Heal is popular. If you choose to use healing power then consider taking Banner of Tactics aswell and using skill 2 on its 10sec recharge for aoe regen and another heal.

Hi everyone,
Been looking around the forum for a good PvE build with a shield in there because I like the idea of being a warrior with a shield but can’t find any as most of the builds on here are either GS glass cannon builds or WvW builds.(Nothing against the GS I just prefer having a shield) I’m just looking for a shield build for PvE/Dungeons which is quite tanky with some support and a reasonable amount of damage if possible. IS it worth rolling a warrior for this role or should I just roll a guardian or just go with a glass cannon warrior like most people do? Any suggestions on builds or weapons to go with a shield and other weapon sets would be cool. Links to videos would be cool too.

I don’t quite understand the purpose of your build. It seems like you’re trying to keep 3 illusions up at all times, yet you want to shatter them, but not really.

Also, iElasticity only applies to YOUR attacks, meaning it would only affect Staff1.

It’s a tweak of yours and revolves around keeping 3 illusions up at all times, be they phantasms or clones. It also does not use Shatters which is nice for new Mesmers (although bad if you plan to [learn to] play them hardcore/for a long time).

This seems like a cool build! Yeah this was my first build so I put the traits in a little randomly. Is this build just for PvE and if so is it good for dungeons? Also have you got any strategies for this build? Thanks, sorry about the question, new mesmer here :P

@Darthsmall, You tbh the 2nd thread who ask about same question on first page atm so I kinda share a Pve/dungeon spec who work for wvwvw aswell that I made for the other player who asked.

I suggest try play with a 0-20-20-0-30 spec, gear with rabid stats (toughness, preci and condition dmg). This spec work well if you want to test some wvwvw later on and its rather tought to kill so you wont be squishy.

I had some time over so I made a spec that synergice with combo fields and have condition dmg as its core.

Well man, right now you are a mix of direct damage and condition damage. Some of your trait choices are defensive but they aren’t enhanced by other defensive choices to complete a certain style of build. First off before finding a build you want, how do you want to do your damage? Slower, over time while being tankish or faster, bigger numbers as a glass cannon?
Torch in PVE pretty much sucks just so ya know. Focus will help you waaaayyy more.

This is a build that I made for PvE. Don’t know about gear for it yet because this is my first time playing a mesmer. Any suggestions on the build or what I should have for gear are welcome and I will appreciate any feedback.

Epic Vid! Noticed how you owned quite a few mesmers. Any tips on fighting mesmers?

Yeah it does look pretty cool especially since I will be levelling with friends and they’re all going full damage so I will bring something different to the table

Try this. It complements your riffle/sword and shield.

Hmmm….Cool I’m mainly gonna do PvE and WvW and I might do a very small amount of sPvP…. Would Sword/shield and Sword/warhorn be okay or is it pointless havbing the sword twice? Because I was thinking of just swapping to get the vigour and movement buffs and then swapping back or something like that

I’m not particularly concerned about damage to be honest I was more looking for a mobile build with survivability and support capabilities. Of course I would like to have some damage but it’s not really my focus

Hi everyone,
You may know my name as I have been posting quite a few things about choosing a profession recently and builds for different professions. I have finally decided to go with my gut and be the warrior. Because who doesn’t just love to jump in to battle and crack some skulls? I have decided I want to use sword/shield as my main weapon set because it is traditionally what warriors use, It looks so amazing and I love the abilities and versatility the weapon set brings.
This brings me to a dilemma, pretty much all the builds on youtube are “GS amazing crit damage” or something but I can’t find any for sword/shield warriors. I am not looking for a glass cannon build. I am looking for a nicely balanced build for PvE that can both support my allies and do some damage and be reasonably durable at the same time.
If anyone can help me make this build I would be very grateful. If you have any secondary weapon set suggestions, trait suggestions or skill suggestions I would appreciate the help. If you can get a whole build that would be amazing!

Thanks for the help but ugh, all of this choice! such a hard decision because I want to pick a class that suits me but both the warrior and mesmer seem to suit different parts of my personality and when I think I’m set on 1 profession the other one just pulls me back again. I guess I’m just very indecisive but I want to get it right because I’m going to be dedicating a lot of time to my character.

How should I use this, for example sword is in the offensive section for warrior and shield is in the defensive section. Does that mean I shouldn’t put them together or not?

Still such a hard decision, but I’m leaning towards warrior because I like the idea of having a sword and shield and I prefer melee combat but people say the warrior is the worst class for PvP which is kinda making me rethink

Armour isn’t really a concern for me unless it reduces mobility because I quite like being mobile as so far in this game it seems to help a lot

I have read lots of posts and articles saying choose which profession you like the most rather than on how powerful they are said to be in certain aspects and I think it is the right way to go about things. However, after playing for some time I still cannot choose between the Mesmer and the Warrior. I enjoy playing both and may eventually level both of them, but in the meantime I need to choose which one to focus on. I like the abilities of both, I enjoy the mechanics of both and I like the playstyle of both.

How should I go about choosing between them? If you have any experience playing either profession I would be glad to hear your opinions on it and the strengths and weaknesses of the profession. Anything that could potentially help me decide between these professions will be appreciated.

So it was a bad idea rolling a warrior for my first class?

Even reccomendations on weapon sets or skills i should have or anything will be helpful

I’m fairly new to Guild Wars 2 and i have decided to roll a warrior for my first character. I don’t really know much about therorycrafting or build making so I was wondering if someone could help me find a build that suits me.
The sort of things I want for the build are:
High mobility
Good CC
Reasonable Survivability

I have tested out the “GS Zerker” builds people reccomended to me and they are not my style. I don’t really know what to go for in regards to weapons but I quite like the idea of a shield due to the block and shield bash abilities.
Any advice is appreciated as I am a new player.

Thanks for your help everyone! I think I’ll go for Rifle/Hammer for PvE because of the control and Rifle/Sword+Warhorn for WvW because of the mobility.

I quite like the sound of the hammer due to the knockback and stun capabilities it has. How would the Hammer be in a dungeon or would it be better for WvW?

Thanks for your help Truxior and Red Falcon, I was thinking maybe rifle/sword and warhorn for WvW but still not sure for PvE or would those weapons still be good in dungeons?

I recently started a warrior and have been trying out loads of weapons to see which one I like the most. I quite like the rifle as a ranged weapon but I’m looking for a melee weapon that will go with it. Does anyone know which melee weapon would go well with the rifle?
Bear in mind i will be focusing on PvE and WvW and i am not really concerned about damage i just want to benefit my group as much as possible.
