I did a little experiment to see about the condition removal of Mender’s Purity in conjunction with Mantra of Recovery. It’s pretty cumbersome. Basically, if you have the Mantra charged, none of the uses remove a condition. And, even after casting Mantra of Recovery (to reset the charges), the condition is not removed. It’s only after you use the first charge (after charging up) that a condition is removed.
At least that’s how my simple test went (trying poison from Marsh Drakes), so it looks like Mantra of Recovery is not very interesting.
I considered trying to get to 30 in Domination and try using two mantras, but it doesn’t feel like it’s worth it.
I searched but didn’t find this specific question.
I have only tried a handful of dyes, but it seems like they are worth more in the unidentified state than the expected average of identifying them. Unidentified, they seem to be worth 16 – 18s. Several of the colors are worth less than 1s when identified.
I haven’t done a lot of experimenting, so I was curious to see what the prevailing wisdom was.
Thx for pointing this out on my post. I had a couple more questions looking at this.
Why not use the Mantra of Recovery heal with this build? It would remove conditions more often and heal allies more. (I think that’s how the Inspiration X skill works. It heals when you actually cast the mantra (versus charging), right?)
When you start off a battle, do you try to put up berserker or warlock first (and swap weapon in time to avoid the swap cooldown). Or do you start with a clone from Mirror Blade for example? It seems like for lots of fights, you would want GS auto-attack going while you were casting Mantra of Pain to add more damage (without creating clones).
Do you end up needing blink and decoy as survival skills? Or are they for rez’ing party members? I was wondering how swappable they are.
Thx again!
Thanks very much for all the help!
I was definitely noticing that I was having a hard time deciding between wanting clones out and not wanting them out.
I will give your build a shot, Pyro. Thx for sharing! One question – where do you try to stand with this build? From soloing mostly up to 80, I’m used to moving around a lot and dropping clones. And from playing a shatter build, I have bad habits of flipping through guys and shattering. I’m guessing this is still about standing at range, but close enough to the party to share the heals.
I’m planning on an amulet as the first way I spend my laurels.
Any suggestions on the best for mesmer? (I’m fond of greatsword and power/precision builds so far)
Thx!
Here is a build I’m considering. Probably I should give up on the Asura radiation field racial, but it just seems very helpful to get offense and defense and combo abilities for 15 seconds
Just hit level 80 and tried out a couple dungeons. Those runs generally went okay. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but I had a couple issues. And I’d like to have a plan in mind before I invest what is a lot for me to make exotic armor and weapons.
Leveling has been great, and I really enjoy the greatsword. I like all the skills. In addition, as an Asura, I’ve had a ton of fun using it conjunction with Radiation Field. For 15 seconds, I can shoot mirror blade and iBeserker through it and tear down groups. The extra poison and weakness has made a ton of fights really easy. My current build is 20, 20, 0, 0, 30. The dodge to create a clone in the dueling line and the synergy of the increased crits and bleeds from the clones seems fantastic. I’ve used a few options as weapon set 2. The most fun was sword/pistol as the iDuelist firing out of the poison field causes havoc.
So here’s the issues I see in dungeons. I’m squishy and I’m not sure I’m providing enough support. In regular pve, I generally just kite if things are tough. So I’m thinking about gear / traits for a bit more survivability (I have berserker gear now – armor is only green). In terms of helping others, I try to use lots of fields. In addition to raditiation, I have time warp, null field, and I’ve equipped staff for Chaos Storm. But staff for chaos form feels a bit like a waste. I can get a lot of conditions going and throw out iWarlock. But most of the other skills feel a little underwhelming.
So basically I’m wondering what people recommend if I want to take the position that I want to keep GS but I’m flexible on traits and secondary weapons. I’m open on any recommendations – would like to plan carefully before I start making/buying final equipment. Thx!
