Actually, a lot of people have been asking for a more rewarding defense experience.

Yeah but people have been asking for defense to not suck too. It kinda doesn’t matter if holding objectives boosts the score more when it still involves the same activities with the same flaws(defending from a wall I’m looking at you).

Because I’m trying to bet on a huge influx of players due to the expansion as a reason for putting up with bad matchups for a while as a trade off but fair if the influx isn’t as large as I hope it won’t be worth it. (In attempt to replenish all servers population).

Also about players not knowing which server to go that’s the point of my suggestion, I’m trying to avoid all the new players simply picking the number one server because they think it’s the best.

As for hard work getting glicko, I know ppt players will take offense to this but we all know by now glicko is nothing more than a representation of raw population and coverage.

Let’s be realistic, if major changes aren’t made to the mode then a good chunk of the new blood is going to be soon turned off and we’ll be back at square one in no time. I believe this is reason why we get “Tounaments” shoved at us, WvWvW’s design flaws makes that insufferable hype train a necessary evil.

At the very least WvW should be required to build it if not that alone the guild hall should require a weekly amount of WvW sPvP and pve content done by your guild to keep its doors open

How about no? Why force people to suck up GW2’s boring PvE so they can keep a guild hall? Plus I have no doubt that PvE players will moan endlessly if they have to get stomped in WvWvW for a guild hall.

After 2.5 years I’ve killed 3700 doylaks. Just 996300 till Yak Slapper.
If I continue as I did so far, Ill have the title in just 650 years, Yeah!!!!!

But seriously, why weren’t WvWvW achievements released with realistic milestones? It’s not like cosmetic titles would throw the game out of whack, or that they couldn’t create more tiers later(Ascended Yakslapper!) or even new ones altogether. After being told how many times that people actually might want to have titles they’re still dragging their kittens about it and you’d think it would be a simple change.

The screen grab is of T3 and I can hazard a guess and say that it’s Dragonbrand’s insane pvdooring. Chances are the other two servers don’t have the combined coverage to make a difference even in a full on, constant 2v1 ( which takes a bite out of the fun after a while).

They designed the Thief’s damage and survivability to be tied to stealth even though they said the class was not going to be stealth reliant(the initiative system compounds the problem). No its not hard damage mitigation but let’s get real they get protection because of the guess work involved in where to AoE/cleave and that in itself is incredibly powerful since you’re dealing with actual people and not scripted NPCs. A competent Thief is near unkillable which is made worse by(IMHO) not being fun to fight. The only thing that saves most Rangers these days are the equally ridiculous changes Anet made recently so I suppose people are complaining about them more.

If anyone is “sacrificing their happiness for the good of the server” then my honest suggestion is spend 20 mins on the phone with a real life friend or just step outside and go sit in a park or see a movie, just spend less time at a computer.

If you think your server doesn’t have enough PPT people, transfer to one that does. Apart from breaking the rules, how anyone plays is their business. I don’t hop onto the maps to play with siege and I often don’t care to be in public channels because well, I don’t care about what 95% of the people there have to say.

I think he meant it as seperate issues, guard staff 1 is to easy to tag 5 players, and aoe group retal can be kept up permantely, seems to be his complaints.

And it seems to be true. When you meet a zerg take a look at your log. It’s wave of wrath times 100.
And dont come here and tell me that group retaliation is not a problem in wvw.

I will absolutely tell you I do not fell retaliation is a problem. As I see it, you should stop spamming auto attacks then complaining that it doesn’t favor you.

It is a particular problem for engineers too. FT AA, grenade AA, bomb AA, pistol AA, rifle AA, all are native AoE skills and force the profession to suppress their AA in large fights. Why is it only problematic when it is a guardian?

The funny part, is guardian is one of the largest culprits for giving retal and laying fields that offer retal if blasted. To complain about taking retal damage seems a bit hypocritical to me when it is discussed from a guardians perspective.

I hope you are joking about “stop spamming auto attacks”. I’m guessing you’ve never been an Ele or power Necro dropping meteor showers/wells/ice bow on a much larger group you’ve pulled into a choke.

So yeah, this cannot be intentional. Ranger jumped into the water at low health and soon went down. Killed the pet, but the Ranger continued to regenerate health, so much that it surpasses any damage thrown at him and he was able to get up and evade/run away. This needs fixing.

2v10 is a bit of a stretch. Anyways, uplvls and NPC interference aside, I see a mix of you guys having coordination and fighting some surprisingly awful PvPers(your Ranger partner was left to pew pew freely), plus most decent roamers would have seen that your block heal yielded nothing, bait out your renewed focus then pin you down and go for your throat. If you’re having fun that’s one thing but I don’t if there’s much room for improvement if this is what you guys are fighting.

1. If group that cares about points is yoloing into groups where they can’t even kill half their numbers before they wipe then they need to consider different tactics. Fight oriented groups are going to get in there anyway.

2.If a group wants to PvDoor for PPT, they can’t complain about getting steamrolled by a blob if they never bothered to have a competent scout. Blob is 7 seconds away? Plan B.

3. Coordinated groups take out larger groups all the time. Keyword coordinated. A tag about to be hit by a larger group might fare better with a smaller guild group of Necros and Eles on the side waiting to bomb the ever living kitten out of the enemy. Or that 5 man team that’s slaughtering the stream of people trying to take back north camp, even if the group wipes, chances are, they killed more than 5. Just two situations off the top of my head.

4. Apart from a few contesters, if a force is trickling into an objective, or just blindly bullrushing chokes that are clearly deathtraps then they deserve to be farmed. Once again, coordination and change of tactics(seems to be a theme here)

5.Yes, GvG guilds get a chance to shine here, see point 3, they’ve earned it, coordination and all that good stuff yet again. A good raiding guild can zerg bust just was well.

TL:DR

I think PPK promotes awareness and getting better at fighting if you care about the scoreboard(and chances are, it’s not going to make fight minded people suddenly care about PPT). So it pretty much highlights bad zerg tactics lol.

Provided that there is no lag, these two suggestions would promote more skillful large scale play. People can and will still zerg but there won’t be such utter safety in it. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen groups use really sloppy tactics because they know the these two mechanics will save them.

Edit: Keep downed state, remove rally so your team has to use a skill and put something on cooldown or manual res and risk getting bombed back to the stone age(which would be so awesome without an AoE cap!).

Megablobs just facerolled everything with or without white sword and sent back 1 people to check whites. Now little teams have a chance.

This simple statement is all that needs to be heard. This is how WvW should have been in the first place. It was never meant to be this “everybody stack in two square inches and gain every friggin boon in game so we can fight the other giant stack with every boon in game.”

It was meant to be a chaotic battlefield filled with scouts and small skirmishes everywhere. This is the direction removal of white swords pushes in. Therefore, despite any possible negative repercussions (I could argue for days that such problems are very minor indeed), the removal is a step in the right direction. Any issues can be compensated by tweeks.

Running around not finding fights and PvDooring isn’t really what I’d call “chaotic” lol.

If you test this you will see it really doesn’t take a scout in every tower. It only takes a few players willing to kill some time and get killed in the process moving between towers and camps.

Many of us have already been doing this, keeping track of upgrades on ours and the enemies’ stuff. It’s the same idea, simply more diligent and prepared to die.

These guys used to play on the server I’m on. When I got tired of defending and wanted to go for a run I would try to join them. They would deliberately WP out to lose any pug who dared to follow them.

If I’m not good enough to run with them, I’m not going to scout for them and I stopped reporting anything to them. They eventually changed servers.

If they’re running a tagless guild raid and you’re not in their guild or hanging in their comms channel then chances are no, you’re not invited. Yes, it’s rejection but it’s most likely not personal. If anything blame Anet for allowing their silly PvE rally system in WvWvW and making it less sociable. Some people want to hang with their friends and have more precision in battle, you could be the rally bait that gets them wiped for lame reasons and ruin their fun and it shouldn’t be hard to respect that. Join or start a public raid or find a guild.

The cultures are very different. Small-scale in T1 centers around sniping yaks, pressuring camps, and cutting off reinforcements. ….

I would hold off on generalizing like that. Some of use are in T1 because everything else is dead the times we play and we don’t much care for PPT.

Yes it is, it’s part of the whole that is the WvWvW experience. A mode that, at it’s core is not, never was and never will be balanced and the makers say this is intentional(as silly as that sounds). I can’t really think of a way differing borderlands would break this non existent balanced gameplay. What’s the worst that could happen? Someone finds a really convenient cata spot?

Someone who logs into GW2 to actually fight(me!) isn’t going to sit in a tower for a meaningless score(seriously, what do you get for “winning”? Nothing. After 2 years, I just can’t muster the care). I care about waypoints because they are a nice convienience, other than that, I’m not concerned with who owns what. We call out relevant info and sometimes it results in us helping commanders blob smash, we also make ourselves really obvious and take our time when hitting stuff and it usually lures out a fight, now, not so much and a lot of our guys enjoy small man stuff. If our team fighting other players helps the score as result, then ok but none of us are going to drudge through unfun activities for the sake of a score in a porous war simulator.

16 hours of play in T1 (so far)

Having moved to JQ recently from T2 YB with my guild, there are definitely downsides to going to T1. I was never that big of a fan of huge blob battles and preferred 15s and 20s, but T1 servers definitely run fat. The bags are glorious, of course, but when you’re running with numbers that big fights essentially boil down to standing off each other and trying to bait the other into wasting their CDs. Melee can’t really push in without eating about 50 necro wells and melting instantly, so there’s a lot of standing around staring at each other, fake pushing, etc.

I have to say I seriously miss T2 reset night as T1 reset basically comprised of fights like the above, repairing walls/gates and queuing. It wasn’t half as fun as T2. Good luck running in 10-15 person groups if that’s all you have on in your guild at the time, you pretty much stand no chance whenever the blob shows up. You either blob up yourself or get farmed by 60 people spamming 1. GG.

Having said that, JQ community seems cool and the quality of PUGs/militia in T1 seems to be much higher than lower tiers, probably because they’re very used to this style of play. There’s also action pretty much 24/7 so there’s always something going on. Running around PvDing outside of NA hours in lower tiers or finding out there was just nothing at all going on was never that fun, although it was nice to be able to roam or run with a smaller group and still be able accomplish things; something which is exceedingly difficult to do in T1 due to the sheer number of people running around in blobs.

I’m hoping T1 will grow on me after I’ve been here for awhile. I definitely can see it isn’t for everyone, though. I’ll definitely be investing in an alt account next time GW2 is on sale to put on a lower tier server.

If you’re running 15-20 people, you can try playing off of a commander and blob busting. Get in touch with the tag and tell them you’re there, they usually enjoy that especially if your group is competent. Pugmanders will have more confidence to push when guild groups are stacked off to the side, either way someone is forced to make a move.

A handful of guildmates and I roam in T1 every night and transferring down isn’t an option. Zergs are an environmental hazard, adjust your build for some mobility and keep your eyes peeled. If you play prime time on a weekend, expect massive blobs.

I don’t care what people think or say just because I have the brains and brawn to come on here and voice my opinion about something nobody wants to discuss.

Brains and brawn to be 1-shot killed along with 50 other lemmings?

I’m happy to discuss it. Ways to avoid being feared off a cliff:
Stun break
Auto stun break
Having stability
Condition cleanse
Not running through the wall

If you can’t manage any of these things you deserve to be a loot bag. Spectral wall is a point control skill which is meant to force you to go around or use your stability, like the guardian and elementalist skills. If your reaction time is that awful then just don’t run at the front of your zerg and get your bear to help remove fear from allies.

No, gotta tag that champ! Gotta rush to stay in the front of the blob, even on narrow ledges. Exercise zero caution! Must. Get. Loot. More. Now.

I don’t say it’s completely dead, it’s just filled with (shameless condi) thieves , mesmers, and just a few engis. Maybe you can find some tryhard longbow rangers, but that’s just some free meals.

I’d rather say the quality has dropped really far. I’ve never seen or very rarely seen zerk/medi guard, sd ele, dd ele, condi necro or even axe/shield warr.

Thieves,(given how silly GW2’s implementation is) will always be common when roaming, it’s just that they now have a viable condi option and of course there will be people who embrace the added safety.

Yes, it gets old fighting the same 3-4 classes using pretty much the same builds but I think what kills the fun for some is running around seeing no one then when you finally find action it’s a band of 7 to 9 who’ll chase 3 clear across the map without fail and the siege bunnies who will not come out until at least twice your numbers show up to help them. I’ve been running around solo and have had people dive into RI’d camps to immediately build siege…for one person. Lol it’s in a sad state.

Personally I’ve been playing this game since the start and I only recently learned that that this was unlimited. Prior to this I though that all character based AoEs were limited to 5 targets.
Necro was my final character slot after levelling every other class to 80.
OP or not OP it doesn’t really matter – if you are going to limit good AoE abilities from other classes to 5 targets you should do the same for this or lift the restriction on the others.
Some earlier posts on this thread have said that you should always run stability just in case, however read other threads and you see other self proclaimed experts saying that you must always run a particular trait, signet, skill etc. to mitigate a common occurrence. Every class does not have enough traits, signets, skills etc. to run everything so such “You should have been running X – Learn to Play – You are a noob” etc. comments are ignorant and pointless.
It would not surprise me if some of these comments are being made by Necros who do not want their favourite trick “Nerfed” in the way that they have previously demanded the “Nerfing” of the abilities of other classes that they believed to be OP.

Imagine if Veil could stealth only five people, or Line of Warding could stop only 5 people. Those skills would be terrible, even if they had a five second cooldown their practical application in WvWvW would be little to none. If anything, Spectral Wall highlights EotM’s dodgy and repetitive design of ledges, bridges and more ledges and even then its a gimmick that totally depends on people not paying attention. And yes, I think it’s understood that we’re talking about EotM here since Spectral Wall is a non-issue on every other WvWvW map. You don’t have to run some highly optimized, super restrictive, expensive build and nail down a difficult rotation of skills, for most classes it’s just swapping out ONE utility and once again paying attention. If someone can’t be bothered to do that then they have no room to complain.

This ability should not push an entire group off the map edge. It needs to be balanced and only affect 3-5 players.

So basically you want it to do nothing. The situation you’re complaining about is very specific and it involves people being on a PvP map and not paying attention or not bringing skills that help them survive on said map that’s filled with ledges and cliffs. Why should they “balance” any skill just so you won’t be inconvenienced by three minutes(at best) of running?

So we’re back after ditching Archeage and we’re looking for fights! We’re on T1 NA(Blackgate) and we’re a small band of roughly fifteen people(~10 at a given time) under a new tag Roll Init[RNG]. We play late NA and we’re looking for other groups(5v5s, 10v10s) who want to slug it out in OS, behind the windmill whatever. Even if you’re not in T1, we’re up for some sPvP action.

Strategy and tactics are very different between t1 zerg fests and (near) barren t8s.

Yeah, people can press somenthing other than 1 when a zerg fight happen down here.

Could be the times that I play, but I haven’t seen that happen in a while, even with the 40v30v60s and the multi-orange swords that pop up.

I’m currently on Kaineng server and it really has come to my attention that things are a little bleak there. Eotm has been fun at times, but ultimately I really want to participate in a battle that has meaning and a long term goal. Kaineng’s Eotm presence isnt at all bad but I’d love to actually hop in to WvW and not see someone only every 20 minutes or so. The worst part is I had my best friend join me in Kaineng and now I’m having thoughts of switching even though I claimed “I wont switch servers” even here on the forums. Frankly I just want part of the action and to be a part of these larger scale battles (and smaller scale). The fact that a transfer costs so much isnt an issue for me but for a new player who finds themselves ultimately interested in WvW and on a small server what choice do you have if you want a more action packed experience.

Hate to break it to you but if you want to be part of large scale battles that have long term goals and meaning then you probably won’t find it in WvWvW, simply because of the rate things flip and the shoddy reward system. Even T1 NA had total dead zones and short queue windows on reset last I checked(like 2 months ago).

Poor Chinese, a failure from start. We had at least a year of interesting play.

This gives a little hope that even the ANet “WvW-team” notice the design failure sometimes.

I can bet money that they know how kittened WvWvW is and my guess is that, apart from the recycled Living Story fluff, GW2 is in maintenance mode now, it’s been only two years and WvWvW is on life support. If any grand designs were in the works I’d be surprised. Even the PvE players aren’t happy and this game is mostly PvE. China was an untapped market for box sales and by the time they get as bored and as tired as the people on NA/EU servers, Anet will be releasing a new game with new shiny feel good marketing and the cycle begins again.

Why not making the OS arena an istance we can buy in the gem store much like private PvP servers ?

- We can rent the server, same price as PvP.
- Everyone can jump on the server from the WvW control panel in all EU or NA.
- You can set password and rules.
- Everyone can choose side (blue/green/red), so we can also do GvG.
- 0 rewards/exp inside this arena.

Anet makes some profit and we players enjoy the duels/GvGs. Win-Win

If such an item were to be added, it should not be sold on the gem store. If anything, it should be a REWARD for pve players, not a handout to pvpers who already spend all their time in spvp and wvw. I would rather it be an account bound drop item that has limited charges, think of this:

A dueling tray (similar to a food tray) that duel participants can click on and receive a duel buff. This duel buff then allows the player to fight other players who also have the buff. To lengthen the amount of use players can get out of the buff..while it is on they have damage/condition output reduced to only 50% and their health increased to 150%. The dueling tray would have 30 charges, and is only dropped rarely by certain legendary mobs. This would promote both PVE (to obtain the tray) and dueling pvp once it is placed.

Yeah because PvE needs more rewards. And how is anything on the gem shop a hand out? Then you go on to suggest altered stats, missing the point of why people go to Os/WvWvW instead of sPvP to fight. Farm NPCs for a small chance for an item that let’s you duel? That’s….not a good idea.

I dont remember having the source code in front of ME to make the necessary changes. This is on Anet.

He/she/it is talking about spreading out, which is basically what people suggest ArenaNet forces people to do. Which does not require anything except stuff fully available for everyone in-game.

They weren’t willing to invest the kind of resources to actually fix WvWvW when the mode was at it’s height so you can pretty much forget about now. When content releases from other games are incoming, you’ll get some minor interactions and small, poorly implemented updates(ala commander tag colors), if it’s something the community even wanted in the first place. They’ll keep pumping out the seasons so the skin hunters and PPT players will show up to not lose face so it’ll be a “success”! Take a break if you’re bored, there are other options.

Comments fail because their suggestions are different from what you propose?

I don’t know what servers you’ve been on but from my experience, having GvGs in the middle of the map would just tick off the PPT people even more. Those guys want people to sit in towers and refresh siege. Not to mention your idea sounds troll prone.

I sent in a ticket and got a nice response saying that they will investigate the matter.

You all think that they are able to just flip a switch and ban every player who gets reported the second a report goes in. Umm no. They themselves have to investigate the matter every single time and they obviously get tons of tickets.

Also, i am not sure what you mean by getting banned from the forums. If you are name dropping in the forums then that is a mistake you are making.

So yeah, keep saying things like they don’t care and it is a waste of time to report hackers. I am sure that will get you a faster response.
