Well, stop doing the SAB Reward track once you’ve gained enough Baubles and acquired the Weapon skins? If some Weapon skins come from the Reward chests, use the Baubles to purchase the others; there can’t be that many left over once one has used both methods of acquisition. (Just like Dungeon Reward tracks.)
At least, that is what I would do…maybe I’m odd. /shrug
The ratio of baubles to final chest weapon skin are out of skew. If I even get all the weapons this year from soley the final chest, I still am unlikely to have enough baubles to purchase even one skin. But if I converted all those baubles to furniture tokens I would be able to get like a million super cloud deco. It is very out of whack and is partially why I suggest changing the baubles to furniture tokens at a more reasonable ratio.
I have ~4500 baubles atm from wvw reward track that ive completed my best guess 6 times. And I think it costs maybe 8k baubles to buy a skin from the merchant. If I converted the 4500 baubles to super clouds I could buy 180 of them. But that requires some hefty special event pve and online guide tutorial. It really doesn’t even make sense to award so many baubles in the reward track that wvw becomes the most efficient way to acquire furniture tokens. Why not just switch them to furniture tokens at ~10 per track instead of the current out of whack ratio that almost necessitates the need for the pve gate?
I’m confused. Does one acquire more than one skin per final chest? If not, then every so many tracks will allow one to purchase a skin with Baubles, no?
Or is the concern really that one wishes to acquire Furniture Coins? If so, the lament should not be the amount of Baubles in the SAB Reward track, but the lack of Furniture Coins. Still, perhaps Furniture Coins are (one of) the enticements to play Tribulation Mode. Though, I have some Furniture Coins, and I’ve never even been able to pass the Toad…lol. (Thus, there must be some easy way to acquire them [I’m not a big fan of SAB].)
once you no longer need to (1) buy upgrades for your characters, (2) buy blue weapons, (3) buy the other neat goodies in moto’s first tab, and (4) have enough continue coins… and complete the achievements to unlock the ability to buy furniture coins from moto, then any and all bobbles and bobble bobbles can go towards purchasing furniture coins. i myself have already farmed nearly 3500 furniture coins this year and im not even going hard. i just dont need any of the other old things that have been around for years and every year SAB comes back anet adds less and less giving me more and more opportunity to deck out guild halls.
@ohoni: seriously, look into taco or other related overlays for sab. it will literally tell you where not to step and you wont experience the hopeless frustration you dread so much. if you arent prepared to spend an hour max making it easy and an hour or 2 actually completing the requirements for you to sink your spare change, you dont deserve to. stop whining about the game being too hard.
Yes, but if you can’t reasonably complete the achievements to unlock the furinture coins, then you cannot buy the furniture coins, regardless of how many Baubles you have, so that’s a moot point. And telling me to stop whining about the game being too hard doesn’t help anyone. I don’t tell you how to enjoy the game, you don’t tell me.
i am telling you how to bring this achievement into the realm of reasonable, even by your standards. it is not by simply playing the game as it is meant to be played. it is by using a perfectly ToS-legal aid.
literally every time something is too hard for you, you write pages and pages and pages of posts on this forum about how it should be nerfed, constantly arguing with anyone and everyone who says otherwise. the time youve spent reading and arguing in this thread couldve been spent instead on getting taco and just doing it, even by your unreasonable standards of “reasonable”.
(additionally, for the shop in the queen beedog maze in 1-1, go to it in the single trib mode run you are required to nearly complete when you go to the lava shop. there is a checkpoint cloud right next to where you fall underground, which is a much closer respawn point, allowing you to complete it more efficiently.)

Yeah, I’d love to have more fun items to buy with my bauble bubbles, but as it’s been stated there are already a number of available options. If you don’t want to complete tribulation mode to unlock the two extra boomboxes, and you don’t want to even attempt world 1 zone 1 tribulation to unlock the furniture coins, then the problem isn’t a lack of available stuff to buy, it’s that you aren’t interested in what’s left.
No, I just have zero interest in Tribulation as a concept. Masochism isn’t really my bag, I enjoy regular SAB, but the “hur hur, we killed for with no possible warning, you should have followed the online guides with pixel precision” content is of absolutely no interest to me. If they want to lock certain rewards behind that content, that’s fine, but you can’t argue that the solution to having too many Baubles earned in regular SAB is to have to clear Tribulation achievements. If regular SAB is handing out Baubles then they need to provide adequate rewards that come ONLY from regular SAB conditions.
Same goes for SAB rewards. You bought all the stuff you wanted. Now you’re upset that there isn’t more stuff for you to buy, even though there actually is and you just aren’t interested in attempting it. You should. The feeling of completing your first tribulation zone is exhilarating and it’s a huge reward in and of itself. The furniture coins are a bonus.
Individual tastes vary. For you, the feeling of completing a Tribulation mode achievement was exhilarating. That is not universal for all people. For people like me, it might be fun to beat a Tribulation zone, but the frustration of repeatedly failing it is so much more intense that even if I did eventually succeed it would be a hollow experience overall. I won’t tell you what content you should enjoy, please don’t try to tell me what content I should enjoy.
hi use an overlay to help get it done without so much frustration and then it will be done and you will never have to do it again and you will have your bobble sink. period. your complaint is ridiculous.

i started playing it cuz its the only sciencey class in a mostly fantasy game and im a sci fi kid.
i got good at it and stuck with it because it was really good for 3 years, even when no one actually wanted them around over 4 war 1 mes or any of the other lowest common denominator metas. when hot launched, it wasnt really left behind dps wise, but it was forgotten with regard to group utility and how easy other classes are to play, meaning lots more effort for same reward. and that made me branch out to every class and become competent at nearly everything instead of just remaining content with engi.

not really but if they were made undamageable to anything but cc but still condi absorbers I think we’d see them xD
(though healing turret is always a mainstay, rifle turret was used not for the turret by the occasional sd build, and supply crate was the “only” elite pre-mortar kit)
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
My thought is make them immune to damage, but add a small breakbar, just like 100-200, something that any dedicated CC ability would knock them right out. Note at 100 even just a chill would take them out in 3-4s, why I’m thinking 200 is probably the
to build on this:
in addition to being immune to damage, they’ll need to be immune to condis or otherwise unepidemicable, otherwise epidemic makes them a suicidal noob trap.now, if you allow condi applications on them, there’s already a mechanic in place to handle soft cc: break bar regen. tune appropriately without raising the max break health so high that weak ccs can’t kill.
I rather like the idea.
but it sounds programming intensive.
I don’t really see the epidemic issue as a problem, because it has counter play. You can notice someone stacking condi on turrets and detonate them, potentially providing CC and damage. And, if one profession has a great counter to the build… well isn’t that just GW2 PVP in a nutshell? Counters being a major aspect arguably over skill. Some things will simply be your counter and worth avoiding. Other team has a necro, might not want to run a turret build, or do and test out their skill.
Either way I don’t really see it as an argument, counter play exists to it in both CC and epidemic, and they have power again against things that don’t counter them. While allowing an option against the counter (detonate).
I respect and agree with the concern, I just see it as a positive remark as it makes it seem all the more reasonable
to explain my thought a bit more:
it opens it up to wvw edge cases where the turret gets the aggro of several condi classes to stack up 9+ condis, doesnt die, and then the condis get spread to 5 other players. we just went through a round of this with downed players and revs being essentially traps. its why resistance now prevents/blocks epidemic. wouldnt want to see it pop up again, even in a (in some ways) harder to control form that encourages spying and trolling by opposing teams.
but no, counterplay and counters arent bad. i agree. id just rather not revisit terrain already covered, especially in a form that becomes more accessible to trolling.

that doesnt sound like less changes :P
sounds maybe less programming intensive though

It’s harder to make sure you can be both chrono roles if your party already has a tank with those Durability runes though. With the basic zerk/commander’s, you can easily lower or raise your toughness by swapping out a few trinkets…the runes means you have a higher base toughness to work around. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Durability runes on my tanking armor but if a Chrono only has one set of armor, the Leadership runes are the best bet so they can fit both roles.
There is no both chrono roles. The build with dura runes is optimized for 100% boon duration and your dps is maintained. No one should have more toughness than you ) if they do they are not wearing raid appropriate gear). In rare cases, you can still swap amulet or back for extra toughness.
i think his point was that a raid wants 2 chronos and if you pug then you dont know if the other chrono is flexible with regards to tanking or not so its better for you to be flexible so you can work around their kitten , and leadership is better for that

the predator has a weird autoattack noise too, so as an owner of a somewhat annoying autoattack i would vote to suppress the audio on just autoattacks. different sound effects are part of the ambience and add character and flavor and i dont think they should be entirely removed, especially cuz the people who have created these weapons have invested significant amounts of effort, but in general it seems like the repeated autoattack audio over and over and over with no variation drives us to wits end.

Did you serious use WvW as an example? That mode is full of zergs which guardian was built for. And no, it is NOT so much more viable than engineer. Engi can be easily played in all 3 game modes.
i dont buy this counterargument.
“full of zergs” needs something more substantial behind it to hold water. like yeah, you can walk into wvw and play it. and guard is more wanted there than engi. ask any zergling. yes, they do represent like half of the things you can be doing in wvw.

I agree with a lot of what he said, but some of it was opinionated. It is very nice, however, to see him publicly voicing the problems of the engineer: a lot of crap skills compared to other classes.
Now here you are wrong. Probably biased cause engi main. Pretty sure it gets beaten by guardian in the number of extremely bad traits and utilities. Ele isn’t far off either.
I totally do agree tho, that lots of traits and utilities do need love
idk man
guard has sword, scepter, hammer, longbow, and staff all in at least “good” states (on a scale of bad-viable-good-meta) and like 2/3 of the utilities are viable if niche. i cant comment on traits as much as i dont main guard.
with engi its kits or bust, all other utility and weapon types being marginally viable at best without at least 1 kit already present. perhaps thats intended at least to some extent since engi has no weapon swap, but engi is at a 25% disadvantage to other classes with that utility or elite slot taken.
engi arguably has more variety because much of whats available is at a higher minimal standard to compete with kits, so a lot of things are fairly interchangeable, but that doesnt make it not a bad idea to mix any other utility types without first selecting a kit or 2.
ele though… yeah ill give you that one. ele is worse off utility wise. i feel like theyre similarly constrained by traits as engi. and the weapons are similarly limited. ele is like if an engi swaps keybinds for utilities and toolbelt/attunements.

It is not about adding dmg to the application of condis, it is adding dmg to skills that apply condis.
As noted earlier, adding damage to a skill causes it to trip Venoms. Sure it might pop stealth but it will also apply a wicked amount of Poison and/or Torment in the right builds. Also, how would traps work. They cannot apply damage when they are used and if they apply damage when they are tripped, ouch Venom problem.
Adding reveals to Condi application is sort of OK but some skills such as traps would play VERY strange. Most stealth Mesmer builds wouldn’t work at all.
I keep circling the same solution… kill Stealth Stacking (and adjust some traits/skills as needed).
its actually better for the target when the aggressor insta-loads condi stacks. remember when warrior sword torment originally got its torment? 1 stack per 2 secs over 10 secs. the skill was extremely problematic because it stacked so slowly and did so much damage that the target needed to use extra cleanses just to counter it. when they changed it to stacking per sec, offhand sword simply disappeared.
the only real issue with doing this same “nerf” on thief is that thief can burst out about 6 condi types, so allowing instant full venom damage while being covered by other condis is prolly not good for the game. but allowing instant venom dumps in and of itself isnt really an issue, its the opposite.

i think character bound progress adds to the nostalgic charm. it certainly is somewhat an outdated concept but… well… i have about 20 toons and have fully upgraded maybe 10 of them just for fun. its cheap relative to the amount of bobbles/coinz you can get so it doesnt really take away much from the guild hall stuff to deck out more toons. i look forward to unlocking my other toons as well, because its an excuse/purpose to be in sab more.
plus it gives purpose to some of the more out-of-the-way areas that youd never normally pass by but add to the depth of the world. most dungeons in all games lack a certain sandboxyness that sab has, and thats cuz you can choose to go to certain parts that are open in all runs or you can choose to speed through for a different goal, but all the possible goals feel very valid and purposeful.

you deserve to get stripped of the privilege to queue for games when you constantly ruin games. stop wasting the time of 9 other people. every time you dc, they get kittened. your time isnt worth 9x as much as everybody else.
the system is fair as is. its simply too bad that the ante costs something you dont have – real munny.
in the mean time, hotjoins dont give dishonor. if you want to get better at pvp, might i suggest looking in the custom arena list. as devoid as hotjoins generally are of skilled players, you can usually manage to find worthy opponents in 1v1 or king of the hill servers without the required time and hardware stability of ranked matches.

no its not hard to force your gimmicks upon the groups you join in lfg, people dont particularly gear check fractals because the content isnt demanding enough aside from nightmare challenge. however, suck at your own risk, cuz about a quarter of people wont be afraid of kicking you for sucking, and a tenth might leave to find another/better group instead of kicking, and the rest will suffer with you cuz thats what you get for pugging fractals.
in raids you will be welcomed in to all welcome or training groups that are unlikely to get boss kills. but if you want a kill in an experienced group youll need to bring your best to the group and even then youre depending on the other 9 people not sucking too (or at least enough of them to cover mechanics and group survival while a couple get carried).
you dont really need to strictly follow the meta, but if you arent building to about 90-95% of the meta builds then your usefulness to the group falls off dramatically either in terms of not putting out personal dps or not putting out group buffs or not providing things like vuln, blinds, or ccs that make killing easier and quicker.

for targeting options I always leave auto target off, ground target snap to current target off, lock at the edge of range on, and quick cast with ground target in the drop down menu. for all classes in all game modes.
sometimes I turn on auto target in open world pve, but generally only while zerging and not while moving because so many mobility skills are targeted.
snapping to your target is only ever useful at stationary things. players aren’t stationary. you have to predict and lead them.

Something with Glint’s lair in it. Or alternatively Glint and Destiny’s Edge fighting Kralk. As long as either Glint or her lair are the main focus of the fractal.
Twisted Marionette would be an awesome way to reintroduce that fight for players who didn’t play during LWS1.
And something darker. I really love the idea of being a mordremoth minion during the takedown of the Pact Fleet. Fighting against the pact.
Or something exploring Orr. Either post Zhaitan Orr where we have to take down several of the more powerful commanders left alive, or even farther back in history near when the Vizier Khilbron sank it into the ocean.
That would be awesome, seeing the fall of the pact fleet! Could be turned into some of the pact survivors and have to fight as our ship crashes, then maybe survive a few waves of enemies while we wait for the ‘pact commander’ and pact reinforcements to clear us a path back to the Silverwastes or something.
There’s so much pre-GW1 lore that could be explored, I’d love to see something involving the Luxons and Kurzicks or the original Shiro, or even visiting Balthazar’s battlefield
The Mordremoth vs the pact fleet fractal would only take 30 seconds. Mordremoth made the pact look like chumps and Zhaitan look like a super chump by losing to a smaller version of the fleet.
the pact didnt die instantly, just quickly. the ships all get speared by surprise, but then it takes a bit of time for them to fall down. and of course since gliding and parachutes are things, we could maybe follow a series of events as a (elite) group of mordy minions assigned to mop up the pact soldiers forced to bail from their ships, leading to a pact subcommander boss.
or you know something like that
its not like those giant verdant brink vines sprouted extra tendrils that all instantly murdered the soldiers the ships were carrying. mordy just had the element of surprise and an extreme home field advantage and the pact got arrogant.

i dont think revelation will change anything about engi stealth and i think you are just doomsaying.
And I think you’re wrong, but that’s not really new. So I guess we’re done here.
the gyro already gives you away and it’s main purpose in pvp is as a target drop rather than a stealth because you also have 2 puddles to reveal you just as frequently as an enemy weapon swaps. therefore, the change in power is noticeable but not so much that stealth gyro becomes unusable. this is where pre game mind games can come into play to the extent that they can in gw2 – the other team has an engi, so does that engi take gyro or x, and do you take revelation or something useful. the answer to this question ideally adds depth to gameplay and counterplay. in reality, in gw2 its prolly too small to matter.
as for toss s, the play patterns for it are something like:
- use it as an engage, for which revelation provides no reasonable counter because the point is they don’t see you coming, won’t predict you, and may not even be in combat for weapon swap effects.
- use it as a disengage, but at this point you are juking already and revelations 240 aoe is small. git gud at juking and it won’t be an issue.
please, why do you think this logic is wrong I want to know so I can ponder it.
