It could’ve been fixed, but Anet didn’t want to. There have been so many threads with constructive feedback, but they simply ignored it. They shifted their focus elsewhere and abandoned changing dungeons. I wouldn’t expect any changes to them with the release of HoT either. It’s the main reason i stopped doing dungeons, because why should i care about them if Anet doesn’t?

Selling on the LFG

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

Let’s look closely at the LFG tool, and clear up any indication as to it’s purpose.

Living World
-Open World Content
Dungeons
-list of dungeons
Fractals of the Mists
-list of fractals
Personal Story
-General Personal Story
Player vs. Player
-Team Arena
-Custom Arenas
World vs. World
-list of worlds

None of those sections listed has anything to do with trading or selling. They are meant for PvE and PvP activities. The key word is activities. Selling items on the tool is clearly an abuse of the system, because that’s not what it’s intended for, whether it’s officially stated or not.

A possible solution, would be to add a section for trading or a general purpose section for socialization.

Bag slot expansions sale?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I think they should lower the price on it permanently. It seems disproportionately high.

I agree, and not just for bag slots, but other things too. Those prices might’ve been good during launch, but not so much anymore, especially since a lot of people have so many characters now. The price is steep for alts.

Raids coming to Guild Wars 2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Raids in the traditional sense of what people think of raids, probably aren’t coming to Guild Wars 2. That is instanced content for huge numbers of people probably isn’t in the cards…my opinion only.

I think that there will be more raid like content, for guilds in the open world. If you use the word raids and people expect raids, people won’t even give the new content a chance.

Agreed. Anytime the word “raid” is used, people automatically think it’s instanced. Technically, there are raids in GW2. Tequatl, Marionette, Vinewrath, and Wurm being some of them.

If we get more things like Teq, Marionette, VW and Triple Trouble, I’m all for it.

Instanced WoW-like raiding? Bugger off.

I wouldn’t dismiss instanced raiding entirely. It has it’s positives. Examples would be, organization, community, and challenge. Non-instanced raiding has it’s negatives, as is seen everyday in GW2 with it’s zergs.

It’s usually busy all the time, because it’s a really popular event, and there’s a lot of loot bags that drop during the event, and it’s also needed for a trait unlock. Sometimes it never gets started though because people don’t like going through the chain of events that are needed prior to the main event at the end.

Dungeons & Fractals

Temple Events
Dry Top & Silverwastes
Collections & Achievements
Personal Story & Living Story
Tequatl & Triple Wurm

If you want to do the latest content, then go to Silverwastes (i recommend doing the living story season 2 first though). That’s where most people are currently. true action base combat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

GW2 is action combat. It has way more mobility than Tera ever will. Tera locks you in place until the animation is finished, which isn’t very mobile at all. Some skills in GW2 lock us in place, but they are very few and can be cancelled by moving. Not only that, but we get true dodging in GW2, unlike in Tera, where “dodging” is very limited.

The only reason people think Tera’s combat is better is because of the crosshair. Other than that, it’s more static in it’s combat.

GW2 has 1. Tab targetting 2. No real dodging (only evading) 3. Is build ON the old GW1 engine, meaning that for example if a warrior is executing spinning blades and you think that you’re just out of the way, your hit box might not be and you will still sit down after he executes his attack and he’s miles away from you.

In other words GW2 looks like it has action combat, but really unless all you’re playing is AoE builds the game feels like action combat had a baby with tab based combat.

That tab targetting part is also why your movement skills don’t always execute forwards, which is super annoying. Oh you want to ride the lighting the way that you face? Oh I’m sorry, you fought someone 3 minutes ago, so let’s go into his direction instead.

Tab-targeting is optional is GW2. You can turn off the settings in options. It doesn’t matter if you have tab-targeting on either, because if they move, your hit will miss. In a true tab-target game, the skill will never miss, even if the player moves out of the way.

As i said, the only thing that is really different is the lack of a crosshair. If a crosshair was added, then your mouse cursor will disappear, and a lot of people can not stand that type of gameplay. Having to toggle between both modes got really annoying in Tera and other combat systems. I wouldn’t mind if GW2 added an option for those who want it though, but i wouldn’t want it forced on players.

Resource Nodes in BLC.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

The problem is, that those node items will decrease the chance of acquiring other things in the chest. The more things you add to it, the lesser chance you have at wanting something. Perhaps they could offer different variety of chests that are tailored for crafting/gathering.

Out of curiosity, what would you want more than a node? Let’s say, for example, you can sell the node for 200-300 gold. That’s enough for a couple of Black Lion Weapons.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Chest#Contents

There’s more desirable things than those nodes, such as Tickets, Endless Tonics, Backpacks, Minis, etc. These items are more valuable because they can’t be acquired easily, where as with the node, the stuff from it can be gathered pretty much endlessly.

The first slot is always a booster, according to that link, which leaves 2 slots that are randomized for over 30 items. The list will keep growing, which makes the chance of wanting something even less.

The problem with acquiring the node, is that it might not sell when you want it to, or it might drop in price in the future. Even if someone finds it useful for their home instance, it’s still very limiting to it’s uses. In my opinion, it isn’t very useful or desirable compared to other items.

Items like that will probably discourage people to not even take their chances with the boxes anymore. The issue isn’t about selling it for gold either. It’s about getting an unwanted item, which then makes a customer disappointed. It’s sort of like those cracker jack toys you get in the boxes, or in cereal boxes. They lose their lustre after awhile, because you know you’ll be disappointed.

A better solution would be, to have specialized boxes. In that list, there are primers, salvage kits, banks, repairs, boosters, etc. These could be packaged into an Adventurer’s box for leveling or just general pve stuff. Or you can have backpacks, makeover kits, dyes, outfits, and other things in a specialized box for character customization. There probably isn’t that many items for a certain category to package them like that, but they could eventually do it. This would probably make people more interested in certain items, and would give them more incentive to buy boxes.

true action base combat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

@nexxe- GW2 doesn’t have true dodging, your character simply becomes invulnerable during the dodge animation. Also, being locked in place when attacking doesn’t make Tera’s combat any less of a action combat system. I think it’s better than lolspamming skills while strafing attacks, but to each their own…

You’re probably right, but i always thought we got hit by projectiles no matter what. I need to pay more attention to that then.

I disagree. Being locked in place is less skillfull. It might as well be a tab-target combat system then. That kind of gameplay is best suited for action-fighter games, such as Tekken or Street Fighter, not in MMO’s. Strafing and mobility is essential to competitive pvp for a reason.

Jump into the mists on each trying out the weapons. Damage/Survivability is a combo of skill gear and traits, but the weapons are going to define how you do it.

Level 1 I think offers the mists(crossed swords top corner menu).
If not it will be level 2 when you finish the ‘tutorial’.

It doesn’t unlock until level 12 i believe. The NPE changed it. I wouldn’t suggest going there either, because it can be confusing for a new player, since they would get a pop up on the SPvP template, etc.

No, not anymore. It was only a problem during launch and the several months afterwards. There used to be queues for WvW, but i don’t think there is anymore, but i’m not sure about higher tiered servers.

Also, you can Guest on other servers at the selection screen, but as a Guest you cannot play their WvW matches.

If you care about WvW, then look at that list. You can switch between EU and NA. Other than that though, servers do not really matter anymore, since there are mega-servers now. What that means is, maps get filled up with people from all different servers. It’s sort of like cross-realm zoning in WoW, if you’ve ever played their version of it.

OP isn’t talking about lag.

It’s the animation that does this, and there are many people that dislike it. It might be aesthetically pleasing to look at, but it alters the user’s perception which is not good. When a player stops, he should immediately stop, including all animation delays. It’s the perception that matters here. This is why people always praise WoW’s movement, because it feels as if the user has complete control of his movement and strafing.

http://massively.joystiq.com/2015/01/25/pax-south-2015-o-brien-and-johanson-on-guild-wars-2-s-heart-of/

O’Brien offered a similar thought when asked if players could expect future expansions following Heart of Thorns. “This expansion is about laying the groundwork,” he says. “We are building Guild Wars 2 to be the game that we want to be evolving over the long-term.”

This is an interesting quote. I wonder if it means we’ll be seeing more frequent updates and content than we have before. If the foundations are already set, this could very well happen.

If you think about it, the Mastery and Specialization systems will already be in, so it’s not like they need to redo it for the next expansion. The living story is already laid out, so this might free up the expansion teams too? I’m just speculating of course, but what does everyone else think? Do you think we’ll get more frequent updates now (as if they weren’t frequent enough, lol)?

Well, it really depends on how much content there is going to be. The maps can be huge with sparse events, or it can be small packed with lots of events and other things.

It’s really quite hard to measure content, and compare it to other stuff. GW2 took 5+ years i think? With HoT, i think they’ve laid out the hardest part by introducing a new class, skills, masteries, and specs.. all these take months to a year or more to create. With these foundations laid out though, maybe they’ll create more content faster now. They also have the living story too.

"HoT is not an expansion."

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nexxe.7081

nexxe.7081

Meh, that’s not an expansion. In my day we had real expansions. This is just a better content release that you probably have to pay for.

It depends on the MMO really. If going by WoW standards, then it does seem kinda small if we’re talking about zones. With HoT, there’s going to be one region, with 3 biomes (basically vertical layered zones?). How many zones will be in Maguuma Jungle though?

Some expansions release a new class, so is GW2. Some release new skills, and so is GW2. These are pretty typical for expansions, without the mention of a new race. We’re getting new specs and new masteries, which is typical of other MMO expansions.

The disappointing thing though is no new mention of dungeons, and only one pvp map with a new game mode, from what we know so far. In other expansions, there’s multiple new dungeons and pvp maps. This is probably going to disappoint so many people.

Because other expansions are about gear-grind and you have to get the new gear from the new dungeons in which there MUST be new dungeons.

It’s not really about gear. It’s about the experience within dungeons, grouping, bosses, stories, leveling, and so much more.. That to me sounds like progression, which isn’t necessarily about levels. But if we want to discuss gear, at least those expansions will offer new designs for dungeon gear, although not always.

I knew this was gonna be a thing and now Anet how about adding the ability to store your account names in a drop down menu on the launcher. So you would click the drop down and I would see Gummy.4278 and Gummy2.9992(not saying that this is an account btw) and when you click on one it loads the password in if you have it saved and you log into that account.
Also while in game if you have multiple accounts add a button so when you click the game menu and the logout button you get the new button “switch accounts”. Upon pressing you get to select which account.

That’s a really good idea. I hope Anet uses it.

There won’t be a Living Story season between now and the expansion.
Which may point out that the expansion is coming soon in which case we are talking about a date after summer.

Until then there will probably be a feature pack and other additions.

Mike O’brien said the first playable demo will be at Pax East in 6 weeks, and then at some other event. After summer seems plausible.
