The only mobs that use notable boons are those dredge gong player dudes, and they spend like 10 seconds buffing up
On the contrary, ground target is much faster, as I don’t have to hard target something before I use it.
First, there are only 2 possible bosses in the game where having a tankier player makes any bit of sense.
This isn’t true at all. For example, recently I was able to stack some heavy damage reduction on my elementalist and sit on top of scale 100 Mai Trin and generally prevent her from moving so the rest of the party could lay on the dps in peace. You can do similar for many other bosses.
if you open the wvw scoreboard, there are a bunch of 0~10% bonuses for gathering, health, healing, etc. These typically apply to general PvE as well. I don’t believe they apply to raids, however.
Anyway, if you’re, say, a lv 80 elementalist with 0 vitality, you have 11645 health at base. If your server has an 8% health bonus from WvW, you instead will have 12576.
What do I get from this? Selling them and getting a few copper/silver/gold is better than nothing.
time
time which, by they way, you very often could spend making notably more money than you would get by selling them
several options for that:
use dagger/focus, as that gives you 3 anti-projectile skills
use staff at max range and just range them back
build more than a 13k health pool
die repeatedly until you “git gud”
trait water and protection and maybe some healing power to shrug off attacks
The controls take some getting used to, but it’s pretty nice once you do. A mouse is a very precise input device. And it all works very nicely with action camera, as SAB made me realize.
The action camera did not really seem to help, particularly when my toon was pressed closely against a cliff wall or tree trunk. I would often end up falling whilst shuffling around on a narrow ledge purely to see if I could get a better view of the next jump. If I fail I want it to be because I didn’t make the jump rather than because I was trying to improve a dumb camera angle. I’ve played plenty of 2D and 3D platformers in my time and I’m no klutz but the GW2 controls/camera are just poor for that purpose imo.
idk, I haven’t had that problem, and I’ve done a lot of JPs, but the second best part of action camera is that it les you run full speed in any direction without changing your camera angle. The camera angle is fully in your control. except inside small rooms, since the camera obeys collision
He said for PVE not WVW.
Yes, I am quite able to read.
edit:
Perhaps you were unaware that the wvw bonus applies in open world PvE? Check your health next time you’re standing in town. You’ll find it’s higher than the base, by typically about 6-10%. unless you recently transferred servers.

The best is a mix of both. Full marauder unbalances your stats a bit. Partial marauder, however, is very efficient. Take just enough marauder to hit about 15k health before the wvw bonus. The dps loss is unnoticeable.
retaliation + boon thieves isn’t as bad as it used to be, however. Used to be that the best DH was a dead DH because light field = death for everyone else. but I don’t really see perma-retal anymore now that the steal only triggers every 20s.
half the reason I take dash is for the extra distance, so no thanks
gamma can’t be adjusted in windowed
nah
Ele’s condition damage isn’t bad, but its power scaling is higher. Until they release a boss with really high armor, power will do more dps.
also ele can get more burning out of sinister than viper
(edited by reikken.4961)
No. It’s just actual damage. If your agony resist were being ignored, you would die instantly. Like full dead, not just downed. since agony isn’t removed on down, so it kills you through your downed state.
Also yes, you can dodge the legenday dredge’s attack. but you have to double dodge to dodge it all. It hits 3 times.

doesn’t get rounded at all
did you USE the mini? (don’t use it)
is the mini in your inventory?
are you in the correct raid wing corresponding to the mini?
idk, I haven’t actually even looked at my PFRs in over a month, since I’ve been doing fractal dailies almost every day and had over 2000 relics, which I still haven’t exhausted. I suspect I’ll need more once I finish crafting Unbound
I’m not against such a title to go with the achievement, but I think “Compulsive Gambler” would be a better title.
I agree with this.

for maximum dps, you have to also use bound
and the timing is actually pretty tricky to optimizeYou dodge just enough to keep up that buff…not exactly something I would call ‘tricky’, especially if you’ve ever played anything like condi engi, lol.
Sure it’s nothing like engi, but unlike normal skills, you can’t queue up a dodge, so you have to time it just right. Go too early and you interrupt your attack; go too late and you waste time. Both notably lower your dps and are worse than not dodging at all. For most other rotations, you can just spam the appropriate skill button a few times a moment before the correct time to use it, and it will be used at the optimal time and not interrupt the previous attack.
Dodge 0.1 sec too early, and you lose the last hit of punishing strikes. ie a 13% dps loss for that chain. dodge 0.1 sec too late, and you lose 0.1 sec of time, ie a 7% dps loss on that chain.

Berserker’s is still the best for maximum dps, so you’re good there.
However, I always recommend eles mix in some Marauder with their Berserker’s. It has higher total stats than Berserker’s, so it lets you increase that tiny health pool for negligible losses in dps.
Anyway, priority for upgrading to ascended for dps is weapon > trinkets > armor.
Weapon has by far the highest impact on dps, due to both an increase in stats (power, etc) and an increase in weapon damage, and a weapon is slightly cheaper to make than a piece of armor.
Trinkets are by far the easiest to get, and give the most stats, making them grant the second biggest dps increase.
Armor offers the smallest dps increase and takes the most work to get.
Trinkets are best gotten via fractals, especially rings. Accessories are best gotten via guild commendations. Amulets are best gotten via laurels, though you said you already have that. There are also certain trinkets available via achievements.
The only reliable way to get weapons (or armor) is to craft. But ascended gear also drops from fractal chests and boss chests, and, rarely, even open world chests.
You can also get ascended stuff from raiding a lot.

What other key do you suggest to bind dodge to?
I use my middle mouse button.
I tried using Q, but that was no good
that’s an awful place to bind your dodge
but moreover, that has nothing to do with objects not working
V key
??
glyph of storms in earth is indeed really nice
If you’re going to run staff, I’d definitely take fire over air. Staff doesn’t do much damage outside of fire attunement, and the faster cooldowns and increased lava font duration is a huge boost to fire’s damage
also take tempest if you have heart of thorns
(edited by reikken.4961)
In the end you can see that he got to 26,85k which is ~27k on the 4mill health golem with all buffs. As I said before, this is obviously not an average dps of 27k, but around 24-25k which still is far superior than 20k-21k mentioned earlier.
actually, each number shown is the average total dps, not the current dps
oh right, power. uh less good. I don’t really know how power necros work though, other than spamming that one skill on below half health mobs
depends
is it a speed run? no. otherwise yes. necros are great in high scale fractals
ranger is the second lowest damage class in the game
I’d go with thief, actually. does amazing damage and has a lot of defensive options, and doesn’t use “rotations”
the part before the boss is great
but the boss is terrible
It seems Dual Wielding doesn’t stack with Berserk, and neither stacks with Quickness
you can literally be one-shot by unrelenting assault. it does 12k to light armor 0 toughness
Is that assuming all hits crit?
the meta rev build has 95% crit, so yes
elemental bastion will proc if it’s not on cooldown though, which will barely save you
for which race? different races have different dash animations
scepter doesn’t benefit from hitbox size as much as dagger or staff do
sometimes you can’t do that quickly, like if there are lots of things on the screen. You have to move your mouse way out to a corner to ensure you click on an empty space, and even then you also have to make sure you aren’t clicking on part of the UI
Yeah venoms are pretty underwhelming if you’re by yourself. Impairing daggers has slightly more poison per cooldown time than spider venom, while also disabling, and they are both single target.
The best skill for potential dps is caltrops, and it’s also AoE, and the cripple is nice against melee mobs. It has a longer ramp up time, however
idk, but looks terrible to me. If I’m going to run the glassiest possible build in the game and die when a revenant looks in my general direction (you can literally be one-shot by unrelenting assault. it does 12k to light armor 0 toughness), I’d at least want some reliable burst damage out of it, but scepter is extremely unreliable.
retested with qT’s buff sets, using the same nonoptimal staff build except with frost bow instead of glyph of storms:
ALL buffs, on large: 33.0k dps
“realistic” buffs, on large: 23.6k
“realistic” buffs, on small: 18.6k
with dagger/focus (dire+shaman’s weapons rather than sinister, and sigil of bursting instead of earth)
ALL buffs, on large: 30.2k
“realistic”, on large: 22.0k
“realistic”, on small: 17.1k
depends on the golem size and the buffs and such
I posted my results with staff here
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4fnnfo/dps_comparison/d2aupj5
yes, but the class has 0 built in defense, so you need to take some defensive traits and/or utilities
seems like a good trait to me
only problem is it isn’t very visible. it’s a lot of relatively hidden sustain
mesmer in group PvE is 100% support. lowest dps class
mesmer in PvP can alternatively go for a burst damage build
Anyway I prefer guardian. It still has a lot of defensive support, but it also has a lot more damage, and its skills just feel better and are more fun to use. I like mesmer’s supportive power, but I don’t like how it actually plays when giving out that support.
Dragonhunter is good, but chrono is in super high demand. Adding a chrono to your list of classes will get you in the most raids.
Personally, however, I find the only thing fun about chrono is pulling enemies with focus 4. The base quickness rotation is not fun at all.

yes, if you make use of all staff’s damage modifiers or the target isn’t vuln capped, staff’s dps is higher
staff’s raw dps coefficient before traits and such is 1.52
dagger’s is 1.64
(edited by reikken.4961)
Toughness scaling was removed
No, it wasn’t removed, just reduced
high scale mobs have about 30% more armor than low scale mobs
dagger has better base damage and applies poison
staff has more possible damage modifiers and applies vuln
