0/20 players on all servers …
Have this on a US server (Borlis Pass) while playing from Europe (Germany), too.
Especially skills that teleport/shadowstep/knockback you or your opponent are a nightmare at times.
This is the drawback with a TP that covers all the worlds.
I see. Me noob thought that Anet just wasn’t capable of getting it right? But now that I know it’s against the laws of physics I’m fine.
… are lacking the 3rd stat (power). At least those that have been converted due to the magic find change.
This has probably been posted already, but as search does not work anymore …
Not working for me, too.
Just go to Heart of the Mists and visit the Amulet Vendor.
Jump on table and shadowstep to the floor —> works!
Jump on platform to the vendor and shadowstep to the floor --> does not work!
Jump on platform then on cupboard and shadowstep to platform or floor —> both works sometimes and sometimes not, i. e. depending on where you stand on the cupboard!
Try out running on walls and target your shadowstep directly in front of your feet. —> some walls let you shadowstep on them, others drop you down.
So what is the rule that determines whether a target can be reached or not or isn’t there any rule, i. e. Anet has lost control over their code?

Loading times are at least 2-3 times longer after the patch.
Deleting local.dat and running gw2 -repair didn’t improve anything.
Also setting an FPS limit of 60 now actually reduces FPS to around 30 which is the post patch upper limit in the login screen regardless of settings.
(edited by xlion.3065)
The basic attack “Twin Darts” should also apply a Poison Condition, but it clearly does not. I can see Bleeding being applied to the target on Critical Hit (Rending Attacks) and Vulnerability on Opening Strike (Alpha Training), but never Poison.
While waiting for my new laptop to arrive ….
Go into Hoelbrak bank and face the rear wall. Press F11. —> almost 60 FPS.
Right click and slowly turn the camera, watch FPS, stop when facing the exit. —> 16 FPS.
Does the complexity of the scenery now being displayed actually require so much more computing power?
I probably just missed those hundred dragons crossing the sky over Hoelbrak (which would easily compensate for 16 FPS. What an amazing sight!), but since I couldn’t see them anyway, why bother my poor CPU/GPU?
Caledon Forest is now at 9 FPS. Unplayable. What boggles my mind is that instead of optimizing the 3d engine (don’t bother the CPU and GPU with stuff that isn’t displayed in the end anyway) ANet is continously increasing the hardware requirements to run the game smoothly.
I’ve ordered a new laptop (Alienware 17 with nvidia geforce 770m) and I hope that this will be enough to fulfill the requirements for an otherwise wonderfull game I would love to play again.
But please, think about the environment. All those wasted CPU/GPU cycles make my heart bleed. :-)
I used to get around 40 sometimes almost 60 FPS in starter areas like Wayfarer Foothills on my Alienware m15x two months ago. Now I have less than 20.
Well, I had hoped for some optimizations when I returned to the game.
The opposite is the case. Shortest return ever.
This would make certain areas and fights a lot less stressfull for the GPU and would allow for decent FPS on less powerfull machines (especially laptops).
For my taste the particle effects are over the top most of the time anyway …
Also clipping (I mean which parts of the scenery are clipped before the GPU is tasked with rendering) could be greatly improved.
I remember a place where you enter “Frostgorge Sound” through a tunnel from “Snowden Drifts”. When I face a wall my FPS is at 60Hz (max with vertical sync) but drops dramatically when I look to the north, although the rendered result isn’t actually very complex. Obviously the GPU renders a lot of unnecessary stuff …
I seriously hope that you misunderstood something here, because the storage location is not supposed to affect the stability of an application, unless it’s a very old app and relies on 8.3 naming conventions, or has a deeply nested folder structure (255 char limit) or the drive it is installed on is faulty.
Btw, since W2k C:\Games\… is an officially bad folder to install an app to, i. e. according to MS it should be somewhere below ProgramFiles.
I might have found a reason for those freezes … at least on my Alienware M15x.
The freezes were much more frequent when starting to play and got worse after I actually improved the cooling of my system (cooling pad + 2 desk fans). I also noticed that I had unusual good FPS (> 80 FPS on a GTX 260M) before freeze.
Long story short: I disabled Turbo Mode in the BIOS and got a significant improvement. No more freezes so far. Knock on wood.
Turbo Mode (Automatic Overclocking) is enabled on Alienware Laptops when only/mainly 1 core is under (heavy) load and the system stays within thermal limits. Which is pretty much the profile of a well cooled system running GW2 …
This does not make any sense. When I stun a target, it is (among other things) immobilized and traits like “Leg Specialist” should apply.
Today I again had massive problems with the game client freezing after a few seconds .. minutes of game play and sound still running in the background. Keyboard and mouse were locked so I had to reboot.
I tried all the usual stuff (delete local.dat, update/switch video drivers, reinstall directx, …) to no avail. Until I saw a comment here stating that the router might be the problem.
Though hard to believe that this could be the reason for my computer freezing, I checked on it (FritzBox 7270) and saw that my computer has registered an additional IP address (X. X. X.255) which is kinda odd because .255 is not a valid address.
Anyway, I rebooted my router and surprisingly enough the game freezing is gone …
EDIT: Switched to another char. Did some jewel Crafting (in Black Citadel). Freeze after 3 minutes. Argh! This is so frustrating. Everything else (e. g. GW1) runs smoothly on my computer. The only thing that gives me a headache is GW2.

Ther is a Mysterious Present in Plains of Ashford that releases level 21 skrit which will instantly kill anybody (downscaled to level 12) opening it.
Is this by intention?
Edit: I just found a box with level 31 skrit. In a level 12 area!!!
Maybe because both boxes are close to AC entrance and player level is miscalculated?

I’ve got a kitchen machine and I’m wearing gloves with +vitality and +healing on them.
My Bread and Cookies can Raise the Dead. That’s how good they are! :-)
Anyway, I noticed this odd little detail (soulbound bread) when I took up “chef” on a second char because I had so many cooking materials left over. And as bread is a cooking ingredient up to skill 400, I obviously want to store some in the bank …
… using only 1 slot and not 2 for “two different kinds of bread”.

What’s the reasoning behind this?
Currently at almost every gathering node I approach there is someone using the teleport exploit. This usually happens too fast for me to report, but I can at least get a glimpse at the player’s name. Most of the time it’s a “proper name + [Guild]” pattern I see.
Are these bots or players?
To see what I mean, you don’t need to wait at a node. Just visit a zone boundary, e. g. Timberline Falls – Mount Maelstrom, and watch the “transporter traffic”.
No matter, if “to” or “two” or 3 or 15 ….
I didn’t take it as bragging. I was genuinely impressed and I’m gonna try those Spy Kits.
Anyway, this spider needs some serious make under, I think.
Then I’m happy I chose the kiting way … afterall I was after the Skill Point and she didn’t have a scratch after 1 minute of continous beating and burning.
I admit that my guardian runs a very defensive build, but I find it hard to believe that she can be solo downed in 3 minutes. Impressive!
According to my combat log she took 200-300 per hit (non crit) from my mace and — as I said — seemed to be at 100% after 1 minute.
That’s an event that triggers at the Skill Point Challenge in a cave at the very south west of Timberline Falls.
Oddly enough my Guardian is scaled down to level 58 while the spider is level 60.
Anyway. The actual bug is that the spider takes NO damage at all. I could have beaten on it for hours without any effect.
I ended up switching to scepter+focus, kiting it away as far as possible, root it and run back with swiftness. Just in time to finsh “communing with this place”.
Server: Borlis Pass
Actually, I’m by now a pro in NVIDIA driver up-/downgrading … :-)
306.97 (latest stable) is more unstable than current beta drivers as of my experience.
Apart from the problem I mentioned above, 310.70 is my best shot so far .
For quite a while (probably since last Nov 15th patch) I have the following problem.
When I’m in LA and open my inventory and bank panels (and start to move stuff around) the game client freezes with the sound still playing in the background. Keyboard and mouse are frozen, too. I have to hard reboot.
When I check the system event log after reboot, I can see that there was NO (driver) crash. Just an “unexpected” shutdown.
- So far this only happens in LA (on overflow).
- Panels in general build up VERY slowly in LA, i. e. it takes ages for all icons to appear.
- When I take the Asura gate to Divinity’s Reach and open the inventory/bank panels there, I have no problems.
- I’m using latest NVIDIA beta drivers (310.70) on my Alienware M15x ( GTX 260M)
My current solution is to let all of my characters rest in Divinity’s Reach and use LA as a Travel Hub only.
Just try it. LOL!
The imp respawn rate is (still) insane and she gets killed almost instantly as soon as my protection (aegis, protection, regeneration, … as a guardian) on her runs out.
The imp’s shadow bolts and poison blasts can easily hit for 1K.
So even as a guardian it’s not easy to survive when constantly being attacked by waves of 3 imps.
Tried it once more and and again there was one krait floating in mid-air in step “Kill the krait guards”. But this time I was lucky, because the floating krait was a ranged profession, so I could shoot it from a distance without it turning invulnerable
… and could finally complete this part of my personal story.
It clearly is a bug and the only workaround seems to be to repeat it until there are either no floating kraits or all floating kraits are ranged.
(edited by xlion.3065)
in step “Kill the krait guards”.
There are no more kraits to kill on the platforms. There is one krait floating in mid air which I can’t kill (invulnerable). I can run up to the top to Hywel’s cage without interference (and could free him/her), but NO! I am not supposed to do this yet.
Known bug? Any workaround? Just try it again and cross fingers that no kraits are floating in mid air?
My character is with the Vigil and the in-game “quest helper” (green star) points me to the Vigil Keep’s Asura gate (from LA) although the gate isn’t accessible yet.
Other orders might be affected in teh same way.
What about “News and Announcements” on the forums?
So I HAVE to follow GW2 on twitter to get notified about a scheduled maintenance?
Can’t login either.
Does anybody know how long the Fire Shield (Combo Finisher: Leap) should last?
The original elementalist skill is supposed to last 3 seconds according to gw2wiki,
but when I lay down Napalm using Flamethrower, switch to Rifle and Jump Shot on top (or across) , the Fire Shield seems to barely last a second.
Actually sometimes it doesn’t trigger at all, most of the time it lasts maybe a second and I had it once last for like 3 seconds (Tested in Heart of the Mists) .
Maybe it’s the same bug that was already listed for Combo Field: Smoke from Bomb Kit’s Smoke Bomb and Jump Shot or Leap Finishers in general don’t work reliable.
Has anyone tested this with Combo Fields provided by other professions?
back at 40-50 fps in queensdale.
It was the stupid “alienware stealth mode” that ruined my day.
Also you should stay away from nvidia beta drivers (310.X).
I’m running 306.97 atm and I’m fine.
Also, yesterday was a VERY hot day here in Melbourne. Maybe I just didnt have control over when my GPU slows down.
(edited by xlion.3065)
nope. everything fine as usual. and gw1 at 150fps
Rerun the windows 7 performance test. still 6.2 for 3d.
Switched nvidia drivers from latest beta to latest stable back an force.
No joy.
I was about to quit gw2 anyway.
Back to my beloved gw1.
(edited by xlion.3065)
Now down to less than 10 (from AU)
Still at 150 FPS on max settings when going back to GW1.
Cya, next life. GW1 is and was way more cool than GW2 anyway.
So, how many players (friends, guild buddies, ….) do you know that have used exploits or bought gold from gold sellings sites and you did NOT report?
See, here is the problem. A market without demand will obviously collapse.
(edited by xlion.3065)
1920×1080 here.
There is PLENTY of room for the eight professions that are currently in the game.
There might be bigger problems in the game, but it really isnt up to you to judge.
(edited by xlion.3065)
There is plenty of room in the login screen.
… if you try.
At the Gauntlet Waypoint in Mount Maelstrom.
How often do I need to hear this?
Not only the waypoint but the entire area gets spammed with this message.
It would be helpful to know (from OP), if he/she was referring to the public or the internal IP, but I’m pretty sure it was the public IP.
And in this case we might have a severe security issue.
Though I have to admit that I don’t know the exact criteria for when a prompt is needed. A minor change (still in the same region) of the IP might just not trigger it.
Which would be smart and not a severe security risk but just less annoyance.
While we are at it. “IT Security” is the “Art of balancing risk and usability”.
(edited by xlion.3065)
OP could have put his/her message a little nicer but is still correct.
Also decreasing the font size and allowing more characters for the topic is a good idea!
It’s clearly not a case of “working as intended”.
Topic says it all. Thank you.

- Using browser “back” does not return you to “search” results but to the main page
- A forced “login” does not return you to where you were but to the main page
ALL of this stuff has been reported ages ago, but I think it can’t hurt to send out a reminder.
Also the Moderator responses should’nt be displayed under “Dev Tracker”.
I’m pretty sure that almost 100% of us are checking “Dev Tracker” for actual developer responses to known issues.
The previous thread with the same title was locked 13 days ago.
It’s still not working and I fail to see that it takes that long to fix it.
(edited by xlion.3065)
Obviously, the less bots flood the market the higher the prices.
But you (the player) will also sell for more.
I very much appreciate a market that is controlled by real players and not by bots.
From soneone who knows cats …. It’s really hard to tell that there is no cat in the room!
ANet did a great job of eliminating the known bots (e. g. Kessex Hills bridge), but there are and always will be new bots using other exploits …
… as long as people are stupid or unsporty enough to buy gold from them.
(edited by xlion.3065)
…
I guess it’s easier for people to blame a.net instead of making proper passwords and using the security tools at your disposal to prevent something that in the end no matter what misguided ideas you might have is your own fault !
Thats’ really not the point.
There are (real) players buying gold from gold selling sites and there are (real) players using exploits to take a shortcut.
Eliminate these from the equation and there will be no more bots, no gold selling spam, ….
It’s not some evil guys hacking into the game from a remote place but your next door neighbour who creates the problem.
