what does shared empowerment does on herald? isn’t buffing herald gonna make it eevn more must for the class to work properly? I would suggest buffing sword 2 and 3 dmg and remove the energy cost from weapons

Shared Empowerment applies might to nearby allies whenever you apply a boon with a 1 second ICD. The 1 second ICD coupled with the duration of the might currently limits Herald to about 13 stacks of sustained might. If they got rid of the ICD and made it only apply when you applied a boon to yourself, voila, you can now supply 25 stacks of might to your subgroup.

Coupled with a few other choice team support changes (as I listed above), Herald could be a competing force with Chronomancer and one of your two PS Warriors.

i have seen revs go up to 18 stacks of might might even be 22-23 stacks with condi rev

I hope this update has some WvW Love.. that game mode is barely holding on.

lol. It’s not holding on at all, it has fallen over a year ago along with the GvG guilds disbanding. Almost everyone I played with left.

why would a LS patch have a WvW update? those are regulated by different teams

why would a lw patch have a fractal or raid update?

Every Revenant Has His Day

  • Shared Empowerment no longer has an ICD and only triggers on boons you apply to yourself.
  • Impossible Odds now pulses quickness to you and up to 4 nearby allies.
  • Impossible Odds now only has -7 upkeep.
  • Ventari’s tablet now pulses 2s of alacrity on up to 5 nearby allies without requiring Natural Harmony to be cast.

it still triggers me how the tablet doest give gotl and instead they went with alacrity

Just remove the ICD on Shared Empowerment on Herald, make it only take effect on boons you apply to yourself, and you could see one this expansion pack.

reaper is also a mess when it comes to purity of purpose.

Define purity of purpose in the context of necromancer.

Not the entirety of necromancer just the reaper spec, necro is the debuffing class or its design suggest that but with the creep to vulnerability it lost some of its value. Plus reaper was presended as the power elite spec or at least semed like that and thats what alot of ppl ask them to treat it as when they buff it. But so far we get wierd memeslike the buff to deathly chill

Just making the buffs affect 10 people in PvE would be an excellent start. I don’t mind taking one warrior for EA + banners + might.

But the problem is, this would powercreep raid squads hard. They’d need to rebalance raids for this.

If you are pugging and only wearing 1 toughness infusion I will place money on you not taking aggro. You can’t trust every person in pugs to have every piece of gear be min/maxed. You just can’t.

not sure what experience you have with raid but when i pug i usualy do with mesmer and i aask the toughness of the group before hand

And Apparently, all projectiles are now unblockable and can’t be absorbed nor reflected!

Hey don’t joke about that one. That basically happened for a while with lots of new encounters all having un-reflectable projectiles because Anet didn’t know what to do with Wall of Reflection and Feedback.

ehh they could keep the refects but make it so boss takes 20% of the projectiles total dmg

Consider: is reaper really as bad in raids as the theorycrafting says? I couldn’t say, because even if I was raiding all the time, in pugs, I see a tiny fraction of their performances. Get me a broad base of data, and maybe we can identify if it is, and push for it to be fixed. (etc, etc, for whatever class you like or loath, of course.)

You have it backwards. On paper reaper is actually competitive in terms of DPS. In practice the lack of field priority control causes reaper to lose more dps in fight than any other class.

reaper is also a mess when it comes to purity of purpose.

Actually, I would like proper maps, assuming you mean like central tyria. I will take the gathering maps over jumping puzzles though. Assuming no other ascended items like armor (although I am guessing each of the LS3 maps will have a backpack) all of the ascended trinkets we can currently get from enough existing gathering maps to outfit our characters without running into the issue of things being unique.

As I said though there are guilds that have built JPs in their halls. Find them. Join. Do puzzle until you get bored of it. Repeat.

id take a map like silverwastes every day of the week over the new maps

Mounts would be a huge selling point for the next expansion, and as such would almost be guaranteed to be expansion only. So no, they would not be given out to everyone, and it would directly introduce P2W mechanics if it was allowed in WvW. Its bad enough that elite specs outclass core specs by so much, you don’t need to give the people who buy an expansion any further advantages over F2P players.

They didn’t allow gliding in WvW (or sPvP) I doubt they would allow mounts

You really want to go back to the old days of MMOs where each death means you have to go back to the spawn point in the corner of the map, then jump on your mount and ride back all the way to where you died? If that’s your justification for mounts, then GW2 has long since implemented a way better system.

Personally I like my collectibles well enough and have enjoyed collecting mounts in other games where those were a thing, but I don’t miss the movement aspect of mount systems one bit. GW2 lets me choose whether to waypoint right where I want to go, or leisurely run across the countryside to explore things as I pass them. I really prefer this system to being forced to travel distances again and again, and I suspect I’m not the only player in this game that enjoys the flexibility of the waypoint system compared to mount-based traveling.

we already see maps with less waypoints, theres no issue in these maps since the wp are in key locations

We have both LA, the old in the PS and the new in open world. So, no problem.

You do realize it’s like 99.9% gone? you only get to see it during the meeting of DE, and maybe 5 minutes if you chose order of whispers as a base group to support

That’s plenty for me. I don’t need to see the old LA any more than that, any more than I mind not seeing the LA from GW1. I miss when this game was updating zones more often.

I too prefered when they updated zones. Lw3 feels like for what ever the purpose of the episode is they will just drop a square on the map to compliment the plot while the rest of the world is unafected.

I do would like to see a raid implemented in the next expansion as part of the story. And now, before you jump your guns, yes, it should have a story mode, and a solo mode.
That, or story mode and raid mode, where in raid mode all the dialogue and cutscenes are left out.

None, the moment you make it “solo” or easy story, its not a raid anymore, its a story content, or solo content.
Raid is group challenge content.
You want more story and solo content, you dont want raid.
So stop asking for “solo raid” because that is the same of asking for “PvP that you only fight npcs” its dont make sense.

I don’t want a solo raid, I’m offering it as an alternative, or extra, to my original suggestion: a story mode raid, with a hard-mode raid version (without all the cutscenes and dialogue) for LI’s. it is my belief that a one person instance for an elder dragon is just silly. We fought the No Life Dragon with an entire pact fleet. We fought the King of the Jungle in his mind, so a small group made some sense.
But whatever we get for Primordus, Jormag, and Kralkalakkra should be something group-ish and big-ish. And I think the current model used for raids is just fine for that. We can have a normal version with dialogue and cutscenes for the story. Then a hard mode version without all that, for people who want to do it like the real raids, and a one-person mode to make all the whiny no-friends people who don’t know what LFG is be quiet about it..

We already got that for HoT, Heart and Mind and the endfight at Dragon’s Stand takes place at the same time lorewise. Much better than rehashed content and even a 10 man raid is too small for an elder dragon fight.

DUDE 10 champions and a small army of importand NPC’s

Against one of the strongest creatures of Tyria. That never made sense in any game.

That is one of the reasons I think LS1 was better executed especially during the boss fights.

I never got to play s1 but i prefered 10 players performing
greatly in terms of rotations and their job and 10-20 more npc with tanks air ships etc rather than 70 ppl aaing. And the less the ppl the easier to make elder dragons aprear… well more epic and worthy of their name.

It is also done in other mmos with great succes

Asides necro himself (which is in a bloody shameful state raid wise), the general rule of “balance” is:

“Balance starts with killing off monopolies”.

And right now who’s the tank? That’s right, the chrono. No one else. Ever.
Healer? 90% druids. 10% tempets.

Dps at least offers some variety, but how about letting other professions get a go at tanking and healing?

I’d very much like to see more revenants, necros/reapers, guardians/dragonhunters or even warriors/berserkers get a shot and healing and/or tanking. Not saying it’s not possible atm, but it’s just bit too far of a strech in some cases.

I honestly would love to play reaper tank myself, hell got a build for it in plans. Just if i had more reasons to convince ppl it’s worth the go.

Chronos tank because their personal DPS is so miserable that the group as a whole doesn’t lose much by them wearing toughness gear instead of full offense. Plus, chronos can still do their quickness and alacrity rotation while tanking, so the group loses nothing, but they would lose DPS if another class were tanking.

toughness bah its just one toughness infusion and no mesmer os the best tabk coz it has the easiest time avoiding dmg and well yes it gives at the same time great support. Welp make next expac a dps mesmer spec a guard spec that gives quickness and has 20-22k dps.
That way there can be other specs that will be able to tank while not be in need to have great support.

I agree kitten solo mode. But no, let them have an easy mode. It will just miss the excitement the unique skins and the achievement. Actually i want them to make an easy mode so they can take endboss fights on core story mode and make the raids. Coz imho that is what can make elder dragons feels like gods and idk add a challenge mode as well with an extra phases on the bosses.

Anyone with half a brain and little bit of experience knows that most MMOs have both better quality and better speed than Anet has. If there’s any doubt, just pick up FF14 for a few months. So all of these “take forever so it can be more polished” arguments are kittenhit.

As for mounts, yes I do think they are very attractive to the majority of MMO players as they are an attractive collection item while also adding immersion to the setting. I’m not sure what’s so extravagant about them, considering nearly every other MMO has them. I would wager my life that they generate more interest and revenue than they cost to produce in virtually all cases. I would actually take the argument even further and state that the fact that GW2 launched without them did damage to the game that it may never recover from.

Anyone with half a brain would have half-thoughts like that. Luckily. Most people here have whole brains. I never said anet was the fastest or best producer. But wanting to be better doesn’t actually make them better. And mounts work in other games because they’re the transport mechanics of that game. We have a different transport mechanic so mounts are superfluous.
And the fact that you believe that this game failed solely because it has no mount shows how little worth there is in arguing you anymore. So my only advice so you is.. go play a game with mounts if that’s more important than content

That doesn’t mean they dont need to increase productivity and fracly mounts are content the process of colecting them takes time, time that ppl won’t complain for the lack of content. And who know maybe the new maps will be huge with like 2 wp only there mounts will make sense.

Idk your whole arguement lost weight when you mentioned a sub only game as an example of the game that can dish out content fast. I mean, getting payed by default everymonth sure does allow them to ahve the budget for projects and idea xD

You’re assuming that the chrono can maintain the ability to pop a distort every 5 seconds. That would require a bar full of signets to even hope to achieve, along with a very strict rotation. So you’d lose out on alacrity and quickness sharing for the group entirely, and you still wouldn’t be able to maintain distortion share every 5 seconds for very long, certainly not an entire fight.

i never assumed someone whould build to spam ivul and idk how you came to that conclusion i assumed that whether theres an dangerous attack would have the biggest chance to cause a wipe a single memser can negate that.

I find that telling Mesmers they are ridiculously OP in PvE is a futile attempt. Yes you don’t have insane damage like every other class, but congratulations on being a required 2 spots in a raid. All DPS classes wish they could be required over other classes so they could more easily get groups. The only class more ridiculous are Rangers.

I have friends who, every time they play their Mesmer, find something new that is completely OP for what they have and they admit it. They are also not Mesmer mains, I have yet to meet someone who mains Mesmer admit that they have some pretty BS abilities (my favorite is still how OP well of precognition is compared to what Guardian, the aegis class, has for aegis granting).

Edit: I still remember when “Feel my Wrath” was added to the game and Mesmers complained constantly on these very forums how it invalidated them because Time Warp was outclassed by it. Now look at the upkeep of Quickness… not to mention FmW got a 15s cooldown increase because of PvP quickness ressing but when quickness was removed from effecting ressing the cooldown was never changed back.

precog well actually makes chaos island boss fight a target dummy that you dodge once every 20% hp lul and just melee the boss to death.

As long as it happens this year I am happy. Expansion 2 at the soonest next year would be… risky.

Why? This year the competition is gonna be really tough with both ff14 and eso releasing theirs and i dought gw2 can take on them both. Tbh i prefer having this lw season have like what? 8 to 10 episodes then the expansion to make sure they have the time they need.That way we get a quality product that brings the lvl of detail and quality this game has shown to be able to pull off.

FF14 and ESO release their expansions in June. So it would be smart to release the GW2 expansion in September / October / November when most players are already done with the other two expansions (Stormblood will have massive content but Morrowind is pretty small compared to other MMORPG expansions). To release an expansion 4-5 months after the competitors did is pretty smart because in that time frame won’t be any bigger game expansion for the next 6-12 months.

Battling in late 2018 with WoWs next expansion seems to be much harder than battling with half a year old FF14/ESO expansions.

Sure, Blizzcon is in November but there’s nothing huge by Blizzard being released around that time. Diablo 3 gets it’s new class within the next months, the next WoW expansion will be released in the end of 2018. There might be something new for Overwatch or a new content patch for WoW but that can’t really compete with another GW2 expansion when people are really interested in GW2.

distortion is not a self invul only tho and most of the invul other classes have are very limited

Except that Distortion is a self invulnerability. It’s not until you take Inspiring Distortion that it becomes an AoE effect, and even then your allies only get 1s of it (regardless of how much distortion you grant yourself), and it’s on a 5s cooldown. So, if you accidentally distort (such as just running through your rotation) you can’t reliably grant distortion to your allies. On top of that Distortion doesn’t even work on downed allies like an Aegis does. So you either have to burn your Well of Precognition to save your teammate or hope he doesn’t get killshot’d.

And true while invulnerability skills are limited (Ele has 3, Guard 1, Engi 1), other classes have a lot more reliable access to damage mitigation skills and have them in much larger quantities. In other words, a Mesmer actually has to invest into skills/traits to get high quantities of distortions while other classes get their defensive mechanisms for free.

The only way i would agree to ez mode raids would be if li didnt drop, if the unique raid skins also didnt drop and magetide shards. You can still get all the other loot, minis etc (minis are your only source of shards) and regular asc weapons and armor chest with the default skin. I would also argue that releasing the ez mode a few weeks later from the actual release is also a good idea.

Actually, allowing LI drop in lower difficulty mode along with adding a way to convert them into magnetite shards really could help to normalize at least some of the dumb requirements, like 50 LI escort runs.

Why is Icebow so good on Nerco? Between all of this debating, I still have no idea why its good to pick it up on Necro. Is it from the IB 3 skill and its chill effects?

i think all icebow 3 4 and 5 have chill dont have an icebow right know so i cant tell for sure

Tbh i don’t feel 1 mechanic should negate so terrifying attacks and make mechanics of any fight meaningless.

In that case we’ll need to roll back:

  • Evades (from endurance and skills)
  • Blocks (from aegis and skills)
  • Stability (where encounter mechanics launch you off platforms)
  • Invulnerability skills
  • Stealth (since it breaks aggro)

Joking aside, Mesmer distortion is fine. Each class has a way to keep them in the fight. At the two extremes you have something like Necro/Warrior that are HP sponges vs Teefs that are ping-ponging evades back-to-back……..to-back-to-back-to-back…[one eternity later]….-to-back (I’m exaggerating here, I know).

Chaining distortions on yourself is fine, but like every other class it’s not free to use your defensive mechanic; it generally costs you slotting a skill, trait, or give up up-time on something (damage/boons, primarily).

As far as the timing being “too easy” for team distorts. Well, that depends on the player. Seeing how the game is geared towards more casually players a 1s window may actually be pretty tight. Yes, I realize that this is a case of #GetGud if you can’t nail the 1s team distort window but, then again, I recognize that the skill of the average gamer of GW2 will still find that window a challenge.

Ehh no you are not blocked from it you or they simply don’t choose to get into it. Look, i would be perfectly fine with them having an ez mode. I understand not everyone has the time to train for hours, they simply want to spend their time doing something fun for them.
But this isnt wow or any other raiding centric game the raid team is small and the resources limited and i will not accept lowering the bar of quality and experience they provide for some easy mode.

Also, what do you want from raids? Is it the lore or the experience/excitement players feel when doing them? The first i can understand you want to simply experience the story and ok i suppose that a good enough reason for ez mode but the latter its a nono, you will never get the experience ppl have been praising the raid team for with anything other than the original. Defenately not something easier.

You make a good point about the experience – yes, it would differ from the hardcore experience simply by the nature of difficult vs easy.

I still think it is worth doing for several reasons. As you note, the story experience is one, but it isnt the only one.

Another is to keep a healthy interest in raids long term. When the carrot of legendary armor comes and goes, I foresee the developers having a hard time with numbers (unless they add a ton of new unique rewards, which would be a very bad idea). Raids will need more players simply to maintain justification for ongoing development.

Yet another reason is to let the raid writers out of the box. Right now, any interesting story in raids will be seen as a negative by many in the community. Opening up the experience lifts that restriction. The narrative could then go in pretty much any direction, opening up greater experience and making them feel more interesting.

And, the biggest for me, is that it evens the playing field for those who play less around the numbers/math of the game and more around the unique feel of their character. Yes the raid can be beaten in blues and greens by most classes when played by people who have mastered the fight, but that is the exception, not the rule (and I think the people saying that know that very well). Tiered difficulties give players the ability to play as the hero they want to be rather than the one Anet forces them to be.

Finally, since it was brought up earlier – it is something the community has asked for since the developers first said the word raid. Go back and read the CDI with Chris Whitesides. The top three most requested features (by a wide margin) throughout that thread were tiered difficulty, scaling and accessibility. The fact that there are only a few of us still making noise on this subforum has more to do with being belittled and browbeaten (just look at some of the posts on this very page – if they havent been deleted – for prime examples) than it does with a lack of desire for this kind of content (for another example, take a look at news sites like massivelyop and mmorpg – and other forums like reddit – there is a much different feel to any raid related discussion there).

Again, thanks for remaining productive and civil. I continue to believe this is a conversation worth having – and hope it is one devs are paying attention to.

Just so people know…

My second post was because for the past few years I have taken breaks, and during the breaks come back to the forums and made suggestions. The responses were always 1. GW2 does it already, 2. GW2 doesn’t need it. 3. GW2 would need to be completely overhaualed to change. Always the same outcome to my topics, but I honestly forget that over time and need to be reminded.

So in one response to my topic I was quickly reminded that the game just isn’t going to change, and I am looking for change. It’s all good everyone. good luck and have fun!

Welcome to the official forums

It’s by far the most toxic of all GW2 forums the dismissive zealous nature of this place actually puts more people off of the game than people talking it down. I always recommend other places since here the goal is shoot down any idea.

I post on these forums primarily to let people know that this isn’t a proper representation of the gw2 community at all. Not to take anything people say serious each of your ideas forninprovement isn’t a one for one. People who truly like a game wish for it to improve and will make remarks of flaws and wish for the game to improve so it will be greater. So I say bravo to you for taking the time to make this post. Data that has been posted on this forum once before has shown that forum activity has been in decline for awhile now and that’s because this forum carries a particular stigma. The devs also make official posts and remarks on Reddit as well.

As for your topic in no particular order
Additional sigils on swap could work but swapping is something all classes do so what about a mastery akin to the natural power creep masteries that add an additional buff during swap.

As for skill usage on CD this would be per skill and very useful to balance between pvp and PVE as a number of skills have very long CDs do to their usage and balance in pvp and esport scene. While it’s true esports has died and many people would like some things reverted. Skills on CD could take the form of them simply adjusting the CD of PVE skills compared to pvp. Your not the first to request such a feature as some skills are outright broken for PVE usage due to their extreme pvp set CD.

Weapon tree sounds like something requested at launch that being more control and option for their weapons. These days these complaints take the form of people bringing up that elite specs don’t really require a new weapon but can use an existing weapon. A Mesmer elite could reuse the greatsword except a Melee version with different abilities. Mesmers do have the least Melee options of any other class of the game. Hammer, Axe, and Mace don’t sound meamer like and illusionary weapons would probably be more akin to guardian spirits than elementalist conjures. So it’s a rather old request.

ehh devs also read the reddit subforum more
