By the time you manage to kill all the bosses in vb meta you should have reached t4 and 200% participation aka you get a bladed armor piece. And how if td meta is SO kittenING HARD making it a tiny bit easier would fix it? Wouldnt it require heavy nerfs instead. (funny enough whileni was making the legendary maguma related gifts i did 4 VBs 3 Tarrirs 3 TDs and 2 and a half DSs all of them succeded all of them on highest tier with the best rewards so ye i can see your point of them not being popular or runned.

These items are new and interesting to a big part of the playerbase who havent touched gw1 and i like that in order to get to play with such weapons i dont have to buy the first game. And theres nothing wrong really with bringing weapons from gw1 to gw2 wether its with gems or in the actual game.

I’m mostly questioning the added value of doing the bosses in order. Why do people need to be encouraged to do them in order? It could be another layer of challenge I suppose, but it’s more a time constraint and weekly hindrance than a challenge the way I see it.

The reason—whether or not you agree that it matters—is because the raids have narratives that tell stories. I get that it can feel like a hassle, but having this progression actually creates more compelling content both for new players encountering the content for the first time and for veterans who like to see progress made over the course of a week. Raids have this narrative by conscious decision on the part of ANet, and while the encounters could theoretically be designed like Fractals (ie. no raid wings at all and only singular bosses), they specifically decided against that and that decision inhibits them yanking everything apart now.

Also i dont see a reason to reopen bosses after you already did them.

Because you want to reopen them for guildies to get kills, to practice, or just to have fun.

so lets say if someone who hasnt cleared the raid they will want to go in and experience the lore. They go in open the first boss experience the pre fight dialogue then go out and open the instance with the first biss being dead so they move on to boss 2?

Because of how life steal works, it alone would open a new play style. Damage whose nature is similar to condition damage in that it ignores armor. If both the power scaling and healing power goes up, you would likely see a small but significant shift of power toward Power reapers & Condi Builds that make use of Blood Magic. Additionally it increases their group support which is already low outside of Epidemic/Plague Signet which is an area that can be adjusted to help slide them into a psuedo-off heal role similar to the old viper druid. Granted you still won’t have GoTL, but any class with a fast enough attack rate will be able to capitalize on that change.

It’s a small shift, I’m not claiming it will make the wheel into a jetpack, but it would offer a unique playstyle to a class and up its group utility all in 1 go.

or you know make is so shroud skill 4 gives alacrity ^3^ (on a seriois note they should rework how combo fields work so when you use finisher and you are ontop of your own fields they get priority).

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t vampiric presence affect the life leech you can trait your minions for? I’m not saying that justifies the oddly low scaling, I just genuinely don’t know.

Preferably the 2nd set as something just seems fun about lifesteal stacking with condition damage. It’s not utterly broken since power would be low as would Healing Power but it would allow for Condi-Drain playstyle that relies on siphoning down your targets.

While reaper could use a few adjustments, I’d rather just see other elite specs nerfed and brought in line with core specs more. This would automatically make Reaper more competitive, and would also remove a lot of power creep from the game.

Alot of powercreep has been long gone. Instead of nerfing each elite spec that in a way its fine ( except druid warr ps and chrono… these are broken) They should look to buff core specs like power lb ranger condi guard etc and make a stat set the helps the reaperore while fixing useless trait mechabics the reaper has like lifesteal.

I think it’s a great idea for the first 3 wings — those have all been out for a while, so there’s no reason to ‘hide’ or gate the sections. As stated above, anyone can get in now by paying an opener; seems like an unnecessary step for players.

(For new wings as they come out, I would be okay if they asked us to go through the wing in the designed order.)

Like you said yourself though, people can get into any instance they want by paying an opener. It doesn’t matter if it is W1 or BotP. So if this were to happen I don’t see any real reason to exclude new raids as they are released.

It creates more value in clearing the raids when they come out. Suddenly clearimg the raid holds greater importance since now ppl cant join for a period before that happens. This can create a feel of engagement to the bigger parts of the community makimg the first clear race all the more exiting, fun for alot more ppl.

I don’t think opening a cleared instance without having killed everything is a good approach. My suggestion is to allow players who have already beaten a boss to reopen up to that boss whenever they want during that week only assuming they’ve killed the earlier bosses. This is important to maintain the progression of the wing and encourage players to do the bosses in order. Example:

  • You’ve cleared W3
    • You can open Escort, KC, Twisted Castle, Xera, Cleared Instance
  • You’ve beaten Cairn and nothing else in W4
    • You can open Cairn and Mursaat Overseer only
  • You’ve beaten Mursaat Overseer and nothing else in W4
    • You can open Cairn only

I think its too much of a hassle. Ppl can already open the instance on the boss they have yet to kill for that week without the need to do the ones they killed.
Also i dont see a reason to reopen bosses after you already did them. Don’t forget this feature if for lore fans who dont clear raids and just want to get to exploit the instance collect the notes read the lore see the cutscens.

In the end some mercenaries cleared ot before you, you just join to invastigate afterwards

-Bones: Look like cave trolls
-Flesh: Look like half beetle, half troll
-Sinew: Propably mostly beetle
-Deeds: This is a tough one. but it looks like one of those ants that gets on it’s hind legs
-Hordes: Looks like a flytrap fungus or plant
-Lifes: one of those antspiders that digs kitten and waits for others to walk into it
-Hope: CLEARLY ARACHNOPHOBIA
-Thoughts: something humanoid with high intelligence.. mursaat propably
-Souls: See Thoughts
-Compassion: Again troll-ish I think.

Destroyer of Earth is something special. It’s just a set of discs

For me it’s:

- Bones/Compassion: Jotun (tall, wide; maybe like GW1 trolls though)
- Flesh: Charr (mostly same posture as charr, and that tail)
- Sinew: Troll (they look almost identical to modern Destroyer Trolls); alternatively, possibly charr due to tail (only difference between Destroyers of Sinew and Destroyer Trolls)
- Deeds/Hordes: Both look like they may be mockeries of some kind of insects
- Lifes: Uses same shape as the stationary fungi in Eye of the North.
- Hope: Spider
- Thoughts/Souls: Mursaat, given the “wings” in the back, and the floating humanoid shape (mursaat are also well known to be tied to souls and mental mishaps).
- Earth/Chaos Discs: Just animated mounds of land.

Sneakily points to dis and hopes anet didn’t make it just to have something cool for the episode. Also why didnt mordy in hot had any dragon luitenant like he did in lw 2? (A plea for more actual dragon luitenants)

The upper pic looks like something the Charr would make as a weapon and lower more like the dragon I’d want to fight. Like you described later on half above and half underground. Preventing it from rising up and scorching every living thing.

The second picture is actually 100% not tied to GW2 at all. Both are done by Kekai Kotaki, but the top one is freelance work which, apparently ended up in GW2 while the other, while freelance work, has never been tied to GW2. You can see both of the pieces on Kekai Kotaki’s art site at the bottom of his freelance page.

But because Kekai had been the “art face” of GW since Factions, and his freelance and personal art have the same style as his art for GW series, people take his free lance art and have thought “it’s for GW!” Wrongly. Not the first time it’s happened, won’t be the last.

I took a look at his site and the “about me” section. Did he leave anet?

And we’ve come back full circle.

Essentially what I am getting at is that probably the hardest thing Arenanet can figure out is how many players who aren’t raiding are genuinely interested in the story, compared to those wanting an easy-mode to have a better track at getting rewards. It’s not hard for the devs to figure out how many are raiding, but they need to value their time with such a development.

The worst case would be that they create this story-mode that serves a purpose of delivering Story to the more general audience, and there’s maybe a thread or two from players who really liked the story instance and saw it as a positive…while the following shows up on this sub-forum and maybe General Discussion for weeks:

- “Story-Mode is still too hard!”
- “WTF Story Mode doesn’t give real loot?”
- “Now that you gave us story mode, give us Legendary Armor!”
- “Another broken promise, Raids no longer the most difficult content.”

Just as a flow, Devs get backlash not just from players who expected to be rewarded something akin to what the current raids reward, but current raiders who feel like the identity of raids is scarred permanently.

Does that make sense?

I agree. A lot of players already pointed it out. Creating an easy mode will not solve a problem, will damage the content that is in a really good place, and open a can of worms with a lot of new problems, as when its easy enough? There a lot of players that cant even complete Hearts and Minds solo or T3 Fractals.

There will be topics like :
“Why casuals get scraps of rewards and hardcore players get full rewards? Isnt the challenge enought for them?”
“Can we get shard of LI rewards from story mode that you mystic forge to full LI?”
“Where is the epic raid story i was told about? Its boring”
“GW2 is just a raid centric game now, stop raids!”

You cant really stop ppl from complaining, it’s the easiest thing for them to do sadly. I stand by what i suggested in a diff thread to have an option to open a clreared instance on your own.

I’m starting to think I’m the only person that genuinely doesn’t care if Raids get an easy mode or not.

But pertaining to your topic, this is not at all relevant to raids. They offer achievements, titles, exclusive skins, exclusive minis, the only way to get leg armor, and you have to beat at least 1 raid boss to finish your masteries and start earning spirit shards in HoT maps again. So just getting ascended armor is not the only reason to do raids.

nah you are not the only one but i do care about dev resources and where i feel they are better spend.

Giving Rev large quickness uptime on top of their alacrity generation (I’m assuming he meant allow them to generate both, not one or the other) would be nothing but a slap in the face to chronos and wouldn’t change much unless Rev was way better at it. And its because SoI is an integral part of the chrono duration, it helps to share all boons with all members if for any reason they didn’t get it from the original source.

soi isnt such a huge part now its simply another quickness stack. Rev needs weapons skills energy removed and some buffs to s2 and 3 and an AA buff to stuff. Oh and remove the mem that is alacrity on ventari and give it grace of the land on healing.

I was wondering if it could be done. Having a second button under the enter x raid button which will be the cleared isntance so everyone easily can join at what ever time they feel like it. This is imho a good mid solution since i dont really agree with another solution that would prob take resources and dev time off of buildimg the actual raids.

PvE endgame before HoT was exactly map farming, dungeon farming and fractals while dungeons were only played by a little amount of so called “casuals” + the speed run community. The majority was farming maps like Cursed Shore etc., not to mention role players, PvPers, WvWers and marginal groups. These all together have never been interested in dungeons or any other bigger challenges and left out fracs and dungeons.

Nowadays, fractals are still there as PvE endgame, a lot easier than before. Old 50 definitely was harder, the statement of Rednik is completely wrong. And there is nothing wrong to be a “stepping stone into raids” as well – fractals still remain PvE endgame.
The majority of dungeon runners moved on to raids while few still rest on dungeons. So nothing has really changed but the people who are left out of raids – the group that wasn’t interested in challenging content like before.

I bet most of the complainers are the ones who actually say they could run a dungeon and succeed – on the contrary to raids but they have rarely done that after the introduction of HoT.
It reminds me of: “But you have heard of me.”

Not sure why raiding changed anything for you since if you choose not to raid your experience remains exactly the same.

As very minimum – he is already denied from content that could be made instead of raids. Like, you know, fractals were promised as “ultimate endgame instanced content”, but now changed to mere “gateway to raids”.

Woah there “denied” is a big word u know he/she/it is free to tackle whatever he/she/it finds interest in. Iirc we also got reworks with each lw update to fractals HUGE qol changes and 2 new fractals so ye….

Boons/Condis:
They are absolutely out of hand. Alot of the Conditions are obsolete and should get reworked into Trait Effects or into baselined Skill Effects to strenthen the playstyles of certain Classes. Don’t let you deceive by the amount of Conditions that need to be reduced being greater than the Boons Side. Thats simply because anet totally overenriched the Game with Conditions
Fear, Taunt, Immobilize are 3 completely obsolete Conditions that would work better as baselined Trait Effects to strenthen the Necro, the Warrior/Guardian and the Thief.
Blindness/Weakness could get easily merged to make the new Blindness more impactful in a similar way how it worked like in GW1. Cripple and Torment would make a perfect merge and Burning + Vulnerability also too because a burning equipment should get destroyed and become naturally more vulnerable to attacks.

The game also needs not more than 3 damaging conditions, anything more than 3 is obsolete and turns thsi game only more into an unneccessary effect spamfest.
More effectful and reworked better designed Upgrades – among your suggstion that Conditions should get a more clear removal hierachy surely will also help.
Thats why I’m so after it, that Anet needs to stop ignoring their important aspects of their Game – and Upgrades play a huge role in Class Balance as they affect heavily how effective builds of certain classes can be played out in WvW and PvP

Break Bar
Adding a Break Bar to Players also as well will be the absolut soultion to the current obnoxious CC Spam in the Game. People need to play CC coordinatedly to be able to stun Bosses . So why shouldn’t players need to use teamwork also against each other?
Do you find it ok, that a Class like a Thief can constantly CC spam you with Headshot for example without thinking about it, without coordinated teamwork of other allies and can completely stop you this way from doing anything? I don’t find this is ok.
Adding Break Bars to players would be the right decision to give also more meaningfulness to Stability to rebalance this Boon better instead of letting it be a 100% protection against CC, it would become a preventive boon, that improves just your resistance of your Break Bar and makes it harder to stun you, but basically not impossible!!!

Gear Stats/Economy
Thats not true. People always forget, that economy is not a one way path, that exists only, as long certain parts of it exist under its original design.
Economy ADAPTS itself based on changes that happen around of it, or that are made by the devs. ANet can always redistribute all items that are part of one economy system into a “new one” to ensure, that the required materials stay “demanded”.

Example.
Lets think about it, we realyl would have no Gear Stats anymore and we would have no need anymore for pointless “recipes” and materials to make tons of obsolete crafting items that are based on gear stats, stuff like – https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mighty_Jute_Insignia and all of its higher tiers.

Do you really think Anet wouldn’t be able to find/create replacement sinks for Materials that lose their original sinks through the removal of Gear Stats?
Its easy to replace anytime old material sinks with new ones.

Instead of letting those materials sink for such craftign recipes, Anet could add new crafting recipes into the game that just replace the material sink of the removed recipes to make sure, that the materials stay demanded, so that the economy won’t crash. Thats why I say, this will take alot more effort and should be one of the later bigger changes.
For now is reworking Boons/Conditions, adding Player Break Bar and eventually rebalancing of Upgrades alot more important first

Its time for Anet to look at history and understand the mistakes already made and solved by the 800lb. gorilla, WoW. WoW’s implementation of LFR has been very successful, and there is absolutely no reason why Anet has not yet implemented an LFR system with easier raids that give reduced rewards (ie: less Ascended currency and no path to Legendary Armor through the LFR). That way, casual players are more likely to complete the content, get something for their effort AND see the story. The only argument against this is some weird elitist mental block… which makes no sense since those that complete the real raid will be rewarded more, and have the opportunity for prestigious legendary armor.

i know quite a few ppl who disagree with that statement lfr was a big mistake and alot of ppl agree with that.

That hurts build and class diversity substantially and adds nothing to the game. ANet should never just gut a class because it’s naturally easier to play due to class mechanics than another class.

I don’t think the idea of making all classes a little more interesting to play is bad. Some rotations, like Power Thief and Power Revenant, are really disappointing. Generally speaking I think players should always be encouraged to weapon swap and there should be enough weapon diversity that you want to swap to different weapons, which is something condition classes do well enough thanks to Geomancy sigils and general damage kit dispersal. They could add a power-based sigil that does something similar to Geomancy if they wanted to encourage more rotation complexity for power classes.

This doesn’t solve all problems, but certainly pushes things in the right direction. This would also need to be coupled with damage buffs to skills on non-meta weapon sets to bring them into the limelight. Some examples would be PvE damage buffs to Revenant Hammer/Staff, Engineer Rifle, etc.

Nerfing a class to be on par with what other classes that require similar skill do is not hurting class diversity its quite the opposite actually it promotes it even further.

Condi Necro: The damage is there, but inaccessible. Farbstoff showed us condi necro can hit 30k realistic buffs, which is competitive (for comparison condi engi/ranger bench marks are around 33k). But the entire build depends on combo fields. What is that garbage? This is literally the only class I know of that has to depend on the combo field system to do its damage. Its stupid. Remove the whirl finishers, and just put chill directly on the skills. Or, fix the minion nerf. Rather than a huge stupid overreaction that literally removes the purpose of half the traits in death magic, and all synergy in blood magic, actually put in the effort to tune the class correctly.

No dont remove it i really like the playstyle and creativity it has(very unique aproach). The bet fix is to rework the combo fields so your own fields get priority when you use finishers on top of them.

This won’t always be the most useful thing though.

I disagree with nerfing builds just because you find them easier to play.

Firstly, the build probably isn’t as easy to min-max as most people think (Druid/Ranger actually require similar amounts of button presses to even the most complex ele builds). Nearly everyone I see that claims condi-ranger is “easy to play” end up 2-5k behind actual ranger mains in real encounters, simply due to swapping too slowly or cancelling skills.

Secondly, to my knowledge. Condi-ranger isn’t even optimal for meta-groups at most bosses, mainly thanks to pinpoint distribution from Engi.

Overall I feel like most classes are extremely well balanced right now. Even Necro is functional at quite a few encounters and pulls decent DPS in real raids, though I wouldn’t be against some buffs. Revenant remains the only class that desperately needs help right now.

its overperforming its only natural to have it nerfed and no i dont believe it require the same skill in terms of rotations as engi or ele and tbh… ppl still pick necro only because of epidemic you dont call a class viable simply because it can cheese a few encounters like you dont say rev is viable simply its usefull as kiter on deimos.

Actually i am totally with you.
If you read between the lines in my original post you’ll see the problem really is
the laziness of the community. They’d rather force groups to TAKE them with the classes they favor instead of opening own groups, lfgs, discord-groups and what ever is necesseray to form groups where they can play the classes they favor.

someone said in a thread “in other mmos ppl ask in forums for tactics for bosses tips for mechanics etc. In this game ppl ask for the content to get easier” they also claim that their bearbow ranger or nomads staff mango pe guard isnt accepted in raids to se game isnt balanced.

There are games out there that have 2-3 times harder content than GW2 raids. On those forums usually people ask how to progress in the content. Strategies, advice, tips……
Here people asked for things to be catered to them. It’s embarassing really….

No, but that’s the game it started out being and that’s the market it appealed to. Even Dungeons, the hardest content at the time of release, were not hard by industry standards.

Thats why they nerfed them after some time and ppl were buying arah paths for 5 or 10g? What something started doesnt mean this is what the devs want it to be also. A company needs to advertise to a big audience so yeah and diff parts of the playerbase have diff niches and like diff things i like the pvp armors and backpiece that doesnt mean i ask for an ez way to get them so i go through the trouble of pvping for it. The devs have also increase te diff in the entire pve part of the game with harder mobs encounters and w/e meaning the want to raise the skill lvl of the average player.

In games like wow where theres a que system for isntanced pve content u still can get kicked for w/e reason. And how that system fights trolls and throwers? I mean sure report them but that takes time to give timeouts or bans, time you spend wiping or w/e coz of that pleb.
