How many threads like this do we have to endure .The world doesn’t revolve around you. When your asleep others are awake playing .Stop being so selfish and give it a rest already.

As I said…….The personal reward gained is the same, there will be no altering in personal reward in anyway, the only thing that will be changed is the reward gained at night which only makes sense since the majority of the players are not even there…………………..
unless if you are selfish and want to win based on the idea that players are not even in the game?

Like it does not even make sense at all, how can it in anyway be selfish to make it fair based on when people are playing a game specially when time they are playing is more or less the same,

This arguement is so flawed all around, and clearly a way to hide a secret agenda……here let me show you how it is flawed in everyway.

-You can turn it around and ask if night time players are better than day time
-You can explain that the servers have a max of 3-4 hours time zone
-You can explain that servers do and have only been able to even be in top tier because of this abuse of system in WvW which is a major part of the game and therefor shady…
-You can explain that the point system does not affect personal reward in anyway, but the server in total and therefor having a night time based on time in the different regions should not only be acceptable but also should be expected……specially when it is such a huge part of the game, like a majority of the players watch it on twitch when WvW is on, even more than E-Sports

-Oooooor we can remove the BS and just say that a majority of the servers do not even know how to fight and rely completely on other players not even being there, and therefor have this ridiculous answer as a agenda to hide the fact that they would not reach any high tier in a normal fight?

I hate to repeat myself, but is there something I have missed, beside the idea of some one should be less worth because points that isnt even directed towards them?

I don’t understand zengara’s post where he talks about the relationship with “wvw” and servers. Perhaps I could put it all together if I knew what “wvw” means. :-)

World vs World, or otherwise known as server vs server. If you are in the game you can press “b” to open up the World vs World tab

The idea is that servers fight vs eachother, like heal, attack, frontline backline etc. But what I am QQ´ing about, and others have for quiet a while……..and still havent done anything about, is that some servers have “acquired” massive amount of players (guild) from other regions in different ways to win at night, since their day time commanders can not win any fight, even when the regions is at prime time and the map is full so there have to be a que.

At this point I will just assume you are new.

The idea is that at night time, when the maps are empty, and even the main cities only have very few people, that these servers that do not have good commanders but still are in high tiers can win in. So it does not become a fight at all, since when you sleep, these people wake up to take everything you got in the map, and when you wake up, you fight the other server until you get it all back since they do not have very good commanders and repeat the process until the week is done, it is not in anyway good, and I can not see how A-Net still agrees to even have this kind of system, it simply goes against everything they tell us this game is about.

Besides it truly seems like a shady way to win, in my eyes at least.

I do not like the idea of A-Net letting players abuse this fact and use…….nonsense as a way to hide the true agenda of simply winning while other players are not even in the game because they are sleeping.

Why should the points that you earn during your play time be worth more then someone that plays at a different time.

What? Sorry again just explained that prime time is roughly the same, Eu is around 3 hours different and NA is 3-4 hours different.

Why should the points earned while a majority of the player base is online based on server time be more than when they are asleep? No offence but the question kinda answer itself doesnt it?
If it does not, I will try to elaborate………..WvW requires some people to defend and attack, having cribled 1 of those and it is basecly…….yeah you get the idea.

Furthermore strategy based on server and never a single person when it comes to WvW, it is a server working together to beat the other server……So I truly do not know how this question at all comes into play? Like I literally do not get this question, are you asking how the points earned while people are awake should be more than when asleep, or that in someway some people should somehow be turned down because they can not give just as many points to their server?

Besides, this does not affect the personal reward gained in anyway if you are saying that the actual player should somehow feel worse for playing when no one else is, for example if switching from NA servers to EU (I guess thats what you mean?)……..Like I do not get this answer, please do elaborate, did I miss something?

It have been 3 years…….Some of the top servers are literally dyeing to ours (far shiverpeaks) in wvw, they can not play us at all in prime time, we capture keeps in prime time like it was towers, but they have collected a good amount of people to play in night time and just attack the door, it is not WvW but just a way to win because others not even in the actual game playing…….This game have had this problem for 3 years………

EU got 3 hour time difference in time zones and NA got 3-4 hours aswell (surprice surprice….thats why LFG is empty at night, and the maps are aswell in a cross server platform).

This should not be hard to handle, decrease the points gathered not around 12:00-24:00 in the average time………..Can not in anyway destroy the game by doing this, it is quiet a huge problem, specially when servers not good enough to even be on a map at all in the prime time even are able to reach high tiers.

Please share your idea, do you believe this is bad, that winning based on others not even in the game/sleeping is good/bad, or is there something I have missed, is there actually more behind it than abusing the fact that your opponent is not even there, or am I wrong in time zones, I did check google and made sure, but idk……..Either way, I would like to know more about it

Sorry to say this…but waaaaaay to much bs in this thread………….Dont even know where to begin…..Let me start of by defending the thread owner then the writers….

First of all, there is alot of GvG youtube videos, the reviews out there mention pvp/WvW and PvE it does not touch GvG and actually searching upon if it exist is rather hard, unless if you want a 100% search on every lore/gameplay in the game before actually buying it……..

Would it be more fun with GvG? Well based on twitch, it had more viewers than their E-Sports, because this game simply is better gameplay wise, the whole first person shooter gameplay can only be fun for so long in an MMO

Now to the thread owner…..You have had this game for at least a year…..I am guessing way more than a year, the posts shows that the first post you wrote was in April 18th. But on the pictures you have a legendary weapon on your asura so I am guessing way more than that, maybe even from the beginning where GvG was mentioned that it was not in the game or part of it. Either way, I get it if newer people get into the game without knowing GvG, but older players should have a somewhat clear idea of what it is all about xD.

But wasn’t the idea behind the new maps that they should last longer? A-Net explained that they would innovate the idea behind expansion.

Normally you just got a ton of new content that you burned through and it was it. I personally feel like getting all that content would be better?

I come from Squeenix counterpart because after 17 months I could not stand Final Fantasy 14’s repetetive, bullkitten gameplay design anymore.

FF14 defines tedious, repetitive RNG nonsense that is wrong on so many things. I like many responses in this thread because it keeps my faith in some “oldschool” attitudes I like. Nowadays, kids want to jump around in “da endgame” without actually playing the “early game”. You can see that in FF14 where new players get pushed everything into their…you know, where the sun does not shine. So you have tons of noobs in the endgame pugs and that sucks. Repetitive things make clear that someone spent some time and effort to get (ITEM NAME) or (DUNGEON/MAP NAME). And if I do so, I want that the nice thing I carry, wield or wear is a hurdle to lazy people or, as you call them, people with a “short attention span”. Don’t get me wrong here: I also have a full-time job and a household to manage, but when I go online in GW2 I can advance in tiny steps while it’s impossible in other games.

Just check the reddit of Final Fantasy 14. People, even the fanboys, complain about how tediously repetitive it is to advance. And those guys even pay for it. EVEN WORSE: That still will be nerfed to pull in newbies. So you are supposed to: Play and suffer or don’t play and get it easier later on. Both are terrible gameplay designs.

I quitted after I had to wait for hours for one FATE (random event) to spawn and when it spawned I have been on the restroom and others killed it. That was the moment I realized how awfully boring a game can be. Then, on Heavensward release, I pre-ordered HoT and GW2 is such a balm for the soul for the MMO player in almost any aspect in the game. Older players might not realize it (anymore), but I still do.

You should play Mobas maybe. Level 18 in 15 minutes and in 45 minutes all starts from scratch. Do I want this in an MMO? Never. If people waste time on Facebook (and their games) they have the time.

First of all, you either did not read my post entirely or simply decided to ignore that it is not what to do, or in general if other games is doing worse/better. My only question was if this game is depending more on repetition, not if the alternatives is better or worse, like FF14………………..
When I say “Short attention span” I mean people with different sicknesses that makes them unable, or mentally hurt when actually doing repetitive tasks like ADD, not lazy people…..Even if I meant lazy people, in the end this is a game. Doing a lot of fun tasks, rather than same task over and over is a lot more rewarding and more fun in general, is it not?
At least I think so, do not get me wrong, I am not tryieng to say that working hard should not be rewarded. But doing same thing over and over seems like going back a step, rather going forward. The reason why people liked Gw2 alot more, was because it was not repetitive, everything felt new fresh, instead of a person clicking same red button over and over.
I am not saying this game is that, but it feels like it is going from this open, explorable, nothing matters, but your adventure and the world will be amazing to explore, the people around you will help you……to a WoW/Wildstar mmorpg like game.

I get that there are worse game, I get that a lot of MMORPG´s is doing this, I get that it is hard to do a lot to do…..I get all that, but I did not complete any of the other MMORPG´s I did not stay for long on any of the other, I joined and stayed in Gw2 for the reason that it was an example for MMORPG´s not just another grind meel, just less grindy, or less annoying………..I know I am asking for a lot, but not asking for more than what they promised.

Yeah I was ecstatic when hearing that masteries was like a leveling system because I absolutely loved lvl 1-79, it was truly an amazing journey.

But yeah, I should have guessed that repetition was a gonna be a huge part of it when maps small, even with the different levels from ground to sky.

And to every other comment be4 this one above.

The question was if A-Net was heading towards that direction, not if I should just ignore it, or go around it.
But based on your comments, I am guessing that based on your experience, you are feeling that this repetition is a thing that A-Net is depending more and more on.
and explains a ways to play around that fact.

MMO’s consist of lists of things to do. Some of those lists have rewards at the end of a task. Those rewards are usually gained by the completion of repetitive tasks because MMO developers make a great deal of money by keeping players p(l)aying (whether that be sub or store). This is the nature of MMO’s. If you don’t like repetitive tasks, don’t do them, but realize that the rewards that you want are there specifically to encourage that repetition. MMO’s will be like this until either the genre fades away or until development tools are created that make generating new content trivial.

I dont know about that, please again…do correct me if I am wrong. But I remember Gw2 tryieng to stay away from that?
The rewards was gained by doing hearts instead of quests, where you dont have to hand anything in, you could do a whole map, which might require some time, but it would not be repetitive, because the tasks would simply be different(they simply hid the repetitive tasks that take just as long time behind something fun). Again I might be wrong, but seems like it was not like this, or at least, more well hidden than this?

But again, some streamers (WP too) explained that the world might be the disappointing part, because having an endless leveling curve was an amazing detail to Gw2, the reason people left was because there was nothing to do after 80, the world was amazing, but they needed a thrive. Thoug they would need to implement a lot more stuff to make people keep playing

The only rewards you got from doing DEs and hearts from the vanilla game were experience and karma. Experience wasnt very useful because getting to 80 was very fast for a MMO and karma had about as much use as bloodstone dust.

The rewards until Silverwastes came out came from either doing some very lucrative event until Anet realises were it was and nerfed it or spamming the same dungeons over and over running the exact same zerker builds.

I might be a slow player, but I remmember it took me 1-2 month to level to 80 back then, and again…..Really the only game I had so much fun doing so, and absed on everyone elses experience, they had the same thought.

In all honesty, I do not know how much gold you get from doing the 3 maps (Might be a lot or very little). But I mainly did them for the experience, I get that after lvl 79 back then it got very repetitive, not questioning that.
But wasnt the reasoning for doing the new specialization and mastery leveling not for it to become about having the fell of 1-79 while leveling while still having a reason to do so?

(Think I heard it somewhere, maybe on stream or youtube, that the reasons behind masteries was for it to be deeper).

Grinding is relative what you may find tedious and repetitive someone else may enjoy doing and whilst to you it feels like a grind to them its not.

Personally if i don’t find something fun i’m not gonna bother with it ,in this game especially you can pretty much do whatever you wan’t without worrying about a gear treadmill or whatever carrot to constantly chase.

Sorry, but fell like you did not read my thread, since this post seems to go around it rather than explaining it. My idea was whether or not I was wrong about them depending more heavily on grinding:

“Grinding refers to the playing time spent doing repetitive tasks within a game to unlock a particular game item”
From: https://www.techopedia.com/definition/27527/grinding

It really do not have to be tedious, but just repetitive for it to become a “grind”.

The idea behind this post is not what I fell, but if A-net generally took a turn to the more repetitive route, simply having their whole game build more and more around repeating processes over and over.

But I can answer your question, since I do somewhat come further into personal feelings towards a game that wants you to repeat tasks that have been done several times:

Well, it would be quiet a lot I would have to simply ignore, from the new maps, that I did found quiet interesting at first, but got to repetitive or to the “new” winter events that wants you to repeat same jp 15 times, it all seems to be more and more involved around you repeating the same thing over and over, which I explained in my post I simply can not do.

But the question was if they in general moved from exploration, adventure, deep story telling where the intro was filled with everything, from the sylvari´s dreams, humans last stand, Charr loyal, northern wild hunt and asuran competition (basecly the whole……My story thing) and random interesting hidden quests, which always was a good surprise to find.
To a more direct approach of having a simple objective that might require a lot of repetition?

Or if I am only looking at it that way because of old memories, while in fact the new races they have introduced in the expansion might be deep, and there might be hidden interesting quests, and even though they seem to be heading same way as WoW, it is simply better because the holy trinity is better etc?

Interesting that it is not new for Guild Wars.

Well even if it was not terrible, it still seems rather un-enjoyable I get that it should not be easy to get something, but making it repetitive is really annoying. Specially for someone like me who simply can not do it, I will at some point simply just stand up and go see netflix or go out or something when it gets to…..sleepy is the word?

I might be very wrong here (please do correct me if I am) but it seems like A-Net is depending heavely on the term grinding, even though they neglect anything that comes with that word.

“Grinding refers to the playing time spent doing repetitive tasks within a game to unlock a particular game item”
From: https://www.techopedia.com/definition/27527/grinding

I personally have a very small attention span, I have played a lot of games, from Maple Story to WoW and everything in between, I never really could get to the highest level simply because it got repetitive. I am not kidding when I say that I was about to sleep after 3 rounds of SW in real life, like all I needed was to lay in bed, my eyes were almost closed.

The only game I got a “high” level on is Gw2, the world was interesting, it was about exploring, and you can do everything, from PvP at lvl 1 to WvW and when back then when you walked from the forests or the mountain all the quests felt rather fresh and new every time, so it was a delight to level up (exploring the world, seeing different quests, also the one randomly hidden where you need to hold a torch in the dark or you will be attacked was all new and interesting).

But now it seems like A-Net have taken a new direction? The tasks we are handed seems repetitive, from the new maps to basecly everything, I normally only do things in a game once or twice (beside dungeons like arah, but I rarely go one shot, so it gets interesting at lupi), but it feels…weird or rather boring from the first, second and third map, after you have finished the different events “follow and kill” or “rescue” then it gets kinda boring to say the least.

Maybe its the…I know what to expect, or the popular grind feeling……Or the simple fact that I have a really small attention span, but it just does not fell like A-Net actually knows their old explore the world, and everything around it, was a lot more interesting than repeating tasks? Again, this could just be me, but seems like it is not with all these people complaining about same idea

In short, did A-Net really change the idea behind the game from something that should be about exploration, meeting the different creatures, to more grindy feeling. or is the 3 new maps rather interesting with the new frogs, and it is just me who is having a small attention span or was looking for a nostalgic feeling in the development?

zengara.8301

I know alot of people like the SW events, and how they lead up to this boss after defeating x bosses/defending.

I don’t know why, but I do personally not like it after a few times. And the events around verdant brink, Auric basin and Tangled Depths just seem so….dull? It seems like having hearts and repeating those hearts we used to have, or making another character on a story already done. Dragons Stand seem also to get a bit boring, but I have only done it a few times.

I might be very wrong here, but it seems kinda sad that it takes so long to get fun masteries when the quests are so repetetive, or just me?

Mentor Tag: great idea, now make it better!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zengara.8301

zengara.8301

Conversely, I find a lot of people are annoyed that the Mentor tag resembles a Commander tag so much. If it was an apple on the map like it is above your head, I think it wouldn’t be as annoying. Has to do with grinding out the gold to afford a Commander tag and being assumed to know what you’re doing-

And considering you get a Mentor tag for only one mastery level, it’s really not hard to get, and that I think is also part of the affront some people find.

At first I thought the same, but it seems like in practice it does not matter. The way it was used is gold=tag, I like that it requires game time rather than gold to get tag, but it honestly does not matter when so low, you get it in a few days, if not 1.

Since everyone seemed already to have tag this really did not change anything, people will probably still not tag up if they do not the know event.

I like that it isnt as lazy as the old world bosses, but still not hard so only guilds can do it.

Or a better question, do people even want this to be “fixed?” Seems like some guild members of mine did.

I will try to keep this as spoiler free as possible, I might have rushed into it. But just wanted to know if ending felt unsatisfying to others as it did to myself.

The fight was ok, it was not this huge dragon fight I personally thought they would do after last games “dragon fight”. In other words, it was not as good as interesting as I thougt, flyieng throug field to field while dragon flyieng beside/infront of you, or atleast the battle scene from the trailer, where it is on an open field, but atleast the physical dragon is there.

(I know it is way to big to fight, but I want to ask something……how was it possible to enter…..w/e they entered to fight the dragons mind? second……

The ending…….was so cliffhanger-ish that it hurts. I know that the previous game had a cliffhanger aswell, but it should never be the main ending…like ever….In the last game you got a somewhat satisfying ending, even when the dragon fight was “bad”, you got what feels like an awesome ending when you enter the city and they all recognize that you actually did something, I got a better feeling from pouring milk to some one rather than this ending….

Again, this might be very subjective. If you had a different feeling, please feel free to say them, I am more than welcome for some one to explain me how I am wrong and it was an awesome ending/boss fight.

Based on the dragons ability to control sylvaries, which he does. Wouldnt thoese who live in the grove change, perhabs even transform the grove somehow? Like either the dragons minions win, and they would take over, while the sylvaries have to find a new home, or the sylvaries who arent controlled will win, but it would still change it somehow. No?

I came to the conclusion that it might change, because this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJfXl_4mivw

It shows pretty well that there are some struggle between trusting the sylvaries in the first place, but specially about the part of faolin fighting alongside what is either believed to be dragons mininos or nightmare court……either way, it seems like alot of things about sylvari will change, no?

What do I get day 1?

zengara.8301

Based on my current situation, I do have money for the expansion, but would like to know exactly what I am getting day 1, since I heard something about raids and guild halls wont come before 31th.

(I figured it might be because it is in the middle of the month, but still Halloween, and people have something else to use the money on, or that people need time to get the masteries to complete the raids/guild halls?).

But if I am not mistaken, I get day 1:

Personal story
New Maps
Revenant
Specialisation
New WvW maps * (Heard everyone get these, so hard to say if count in the expansion).

In other words, I can wait until getting the expansion to the 13th?

(keep in mind I will be empty right after I use the money I get, so would like to hold on to them if not a necessary buy, even though I got no idea what to use them for atm).

What I’d do post HoT:

Try to obtain ascended bat back.

Try to level up legendary mastery asap and get precursor Zap.

Craft Bolt.

Rest can wait ~ Can care less about raid atm.

Ohh, it was just in general what I get, I honestly dont care about precursor/ascended even tho I got legendary and ascended atm, I would rather have fun and explore rather than “grind”.
But I guess we are different players that way.

Either way, I just wanted to know exactly what I am getting with the expansion on day 1, and if not that important/I dont miss out on anything fun, i could just wait until the real things start to show since I can anyday look for ascended, but not anyday try out raid with guildies, or obtain a guild hall for the first time with guild mates.

I never grind. (Except maybe back when CoF is the only source of income, I did grind that dgn for 3 days, then I can’t stand it anymore and stopped)
The “grind” part is from 3 years of normal play. (PVP/WVW/PVE/dgn/fractal)

Now the only thing I’m short of is Zap, the precursor, that’d be coming from the mastery collection thingy.

Also bat ascended shoulder is awesome and Halloween exclusive.
You sure you don’t want it?

http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/v/20972084

(Fast forward to 1:02:28)

Yeah, main reason I wrote “grind” instead of grind :P It is not bad at all, looks pretty cool, but not something I would do unless if I got nothing else to do, never been that big on the looks of gear etc.

What do I get day 1?

Based on my current situation, I do have money for the expansion, but would like to know exactly what I am getting day 1, since I heard something about raids and guild halls wont come before 31th.

(I figured it might be because it is in the middle of the month, but still Halloween, and people have something else to use the money on, or that people need time to get the masteries to complete the raids/guild halls?).

But if I am not mistaken, I get day 1:

Invincible Gear?

Ohh, I saw it differently, the guy got captured by the nightmare court, so figured his possibilities already there must have been limited, since he might be in stress. There are alot of different perspectives, but if removing the….countless theories of how easy/hard it is to get armor that 1 person could finish:

The dragons eating magic is a good note, the armor would already be useless if the person gets weaker, but giving the dragon strength beforehand would be worse.

Ehmm I will just answer step by step :P

I Dont buy into the whole “its costly” theory, since they are using a hell of a lot airships and army to withstand the dragon on its own, and if 1 person could just enter and leave without a scratch, it would be kinda easier, probably cost less.

But the idea behind the person who wears it gets weaker is a good theory, he did change from bronze to champion after being able to use hammer.

If Bercilak can keep the armor on at all times, then I am pretty sure everyone else can keep it on, in a forest full of death :P

Do not think it is the same argument at all, there is a small part of the argument you could narrow down to be the same, “get an artifact that is good, to kill dragons” but the conditions, people required, or places are far from the same.

Show that Occam forged a gear set for the nightmare court and Bercilak ( https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bercilak ), that can make the person invincible, unable to die…..Only thing that could destroy it was the hammer that forged it, soooo….here is my question:

Why do they not just make a whole lot of those and then use that for killing the dragons o.o?

WVW and Guilds

I personally do not like this, but I will try to be as objective as I can and make a pro/con.

Pro:
-Will give guilds a way to participate in WvW servers, and still have everyone with them.
-Would be a more open WvW, where the score board simply means less since everyone could be on any server, which would mean that the high/low tier servers might be evened out a bit.
-Would make it more GvG rather than WvW.

Cons:
-Seems easy to abuse hard, even if only the guild leaders server can be used.
-Less server based WvW, this means teamspeak can be harmed even more (for the higer tier servers who use WvW teamspeak and need to let people in on their teamspeak and try to keep people from other servers out)

……….All in all, this would be good for lower tier servers and seem to be harming for higer tier servers, while better for lower tier servers…….

Just seems like a straight out subjective arguement all in all, if you like WvW alot/on a high WvW tier you might not like this. If you are on a low tier WvW, or dont care much for it nor the trouble every server go throug to do what they have to do to win, then you might like this idea.

I can see both sides, but since on a higer tier server and like WvW cant agree on this post

This always brings up a very interesting argument, mainly because it always puts people up in mainly 2 categories that might be able to be seen on a political stand point.

The people who are just happy that the newcomers have a chance like this, that A-Net would go to so much trouble to give a free example to people, these people might see the newcomers as the struggling once, might be self reflecting etc.

The people who see the new people as hoarders, people who have done nothing to gain the game, but just came in.

Personally very happy that Gw2 decided to do this, there are people out there which have seen the game and seem to love it, but not sure if their computer can take it, so decides simply not make a move, the economy might be low as it is without risking money out the window.

(I know that alot of people seem to think of this as a business move to gain a bigger population before the expansion gets released, but if it is, it simply does not seem like a good one, the idea of giving a f2p is a desperation move, A-Net clearly is not desperate, gem store is purely cosmetic and besides, If buying the game is the most “stable” income Gw2 have, then shaking that would not be so smart if business move, in other words, I cant see how giving a free game out would give more income than letting it be 10$ + expansion price and gem store of course for people would buy).

Again, an argument like this…….simply seems straight out subjective all around, every person will think differently, but seems like Gw2 is rooting for the little man.

Legendary Armor Runes

This suggestion has been brought up a few times in the past, and I’m always opposed to it.

Legendaries aren’t supposed to be better than the other “best in slot” items in the game. They’re just supposed to a fancy skin and a guarantee that those will always be best-in-slot no matter what else in the game changes.

The change to allow them to swap stats already gave them a distinct advantage over ascended gear, BUT I feel that change was at least justified since legendaries are such a massive time and gold sink and if you were stuck with only 1 stat combination it would be a huge disadvantage to commiting to a legendary. So give it a distinct advantage in order to prevent legendaries from having a large disadvantage, that’s fine.

Rune / Sigil swapping, on the other hand… that would just be a pure bonus. You can already swap sigils and runes on legendaries, the same way you can on any other piece of gear. Buy a new sigil / rune, slot it in and replace the old one. There’s no problem that needs to be “fixed” by allowing swappable upgrades, it would just be something to make legendaries outright better than other gear. Which isn’t the intention of legendaries in GW2.

I gotta admit, this is true. But I still dont like having multiple gears for different occasions, having a gear set that could carry different sigils for dungeon runs or WvW/fractal swap would be great and less annoying.

Though it have been stated that Legendaries are simply cosmetic, but giving it different sigil slots does not affect the stats….. kinda hard. Again, I am all for the idea behind having to use less gear, but I get what you are referring to

Upgrade extractors are useless and pretty much unrelated to this guys request.

All true, but the fact they exist points to ANet wanting you to buy them. If they did add a rune/sigil library to the legendary gear, people will start asking for a single rune and sigil to unlock on all pieces, then they’ll want it account wide. Priced on runes and sigils will end up in the toilet. No your right, this has nothing to do with his request.

prices on many runes and sigils are already there

True, but not everything can be BIS.

Got the feeling legendary armor might be just as hard to get as legendary gear, or exceptionally harder, so just a piece counts like a legendary by itself. (Do not think we know that yet).

Price drop would not be visible if that is the case, far from it tbh, would be laughable if the sigils even dropped below 5-10 silvers, if they did so I would probably think it is more about inflation, than the legendary gears…..

There are things in the gem store called upgrade exacters. They want you to buy them. So this will not happen. It’s simple, if you want it bad enough you’ll pay. If not you won’t.

Most times (if not all the time) the price for 1 rune is less than that……Besides, this is most likely for dungeon running, and not so much random use, or lost sigil, so you dont need 7 daggers, or 3 GS etc.

I will try to respond in 2 forms, as objectively and subjectively as I can, since the whole “I paid 60$ for 3 years ago, tried all the living story/events and therefor everyone should do the same” argument just does not hold up anymore….

Objectively, would it be fine if new players came in who have never tried the game and got 3 slots instead of 2? Well if A-Net does see this as a extended trail to further on support the game, then it would probably not matter at all to be honest, I got 6 slots and only use 2 of them actively, besides it would not be hard to get enough gold in game from the first slot to buy more if not also the second. so more slots just feels like a luxury than a need, its the map chat and trades that are the big thing.

Subjectively:

Personally it does not matter for me, never did. The idea behind this can always be seen from how people have lived. I get that some people do not want others to get an advantage to get to the same place…….But I always thought it was a good thing when the person who does not have enough money, or are insecure if the computer can take it, so never did a move got to try it………………Guess it simply devide people on what conditions everyone have lived on.

-To sum it up, I honestly don´t care what they are getting, as long as it does not affect my game play negatively, like in map chat, or people try to somehow cheat the system with having multiple accounts without paying for them.

Do people want this game to feel more like a chore? My main reason to join Gw2 was because it was fun, it was the game-play, the amazing exploration, the various choices without me feeling like its a chore.

(I was a bit lucky I got in early on, people seems to not like leveling, while in the old days Gw2 was at its best from lvl 1-79 not sure if design changed, or simply figured it all out).

But my main question is, do people rather want raids that might feel like dungeon chore after a little while or create more snowball fights, amazing big and all around interesting places like the first time playing this game??

(My main concern is that this game turn slowly to a chore like game, where everything becomes less fun and more boring, until it reminds me of WoW, more CC, less fun and interesting places for exploration/options that are fun).

I dont know why, might be really subjective, but I like the beauty of the Sylvari start place, how it naturally progresses and the nature all around. It does not feel boring at all, this might be really subjective since I did started off as a Sylvari, but even now, when I start a new profession, I find it alot of fun.

Just wanted to know if it was simply subjective, or others also do find this place to be the best…..so:

Still doesnt make any sense, if we say that we need a healer/tank/dps, some of the classes will be locked into that category simply because they do deal more healing/damage or are tanky. Unless if that was the reasoning of the specializations? Some players see it as being more cool stuff, I always saw it as a way to implement stuff to some professions that currently needed it.

But even then, there will always be that 1 profession which simply are a lot better to do 1 thing, which would ultimately lock them.

We need stealth counter skills

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zengara.8301

zengara.8301

Just one suggestion from me:
Make them visible when they are near you, similar to WoW.
It can be:
1. visible in a 180° where you are facing(with a max range ofc.)
2. visible in a smaller radius around your character

That way, you still have a chance to catch him before he takes the initiative. At the same time, it doesn’t break the thief, because they still have high mobility to take the initiative first. And you also get the chance to catch him in case he is running away to reset the fight over and over again.

Only in the shadow refuge the thief is completely invisible while standing inside.

Just my 2 cent.

in World of what…ever, the stealth is unlimited if I remember correctly, no? the way it plays is very different, in general people are less mobile, they move less/jump and are very depending on the unlimited stealth……..I mean, what if they gave stealth in WoW all a 10 second timer at max and normal around 3 seconds, would ruin them.

Giving a visibility of an angle of 180 for anyone with the current timer would simply wreck thief builds, people wont only know that they are coming since the absurd low timer, they would also know to simply rotate to win, since thief will in the end have to get out of stealth in…..lets say 10 seconds if the opponent actually uses shadow refuge on first second. Bombing a spot/focussing on that particular spot would be absurdly easy, it would simply ruin the profession all in all…..

But I have read some of the responds in here, and some people here dont mind ruining another profession because their build is metabattle and weak against thieves :p
