Dungeons should not close when...

This definitely needs to change, its an incredibly easy method of griefing.

I’ve mentioned this before, and it has to be tied to the story/explorer dungeon types and variables therein. My guess is when the leader (whose character model is keyed in on) of a dungeon leaves instance, the engine loses the reference for that model in the cutscenes and therefore must close the instance. Just a guess though.

I’ve never thought of it like this. If this is the case perhaps it would be best of the cutscene is based on your character and no one else’s.

There’s an idea. Probably the best one for the day.

China release trailer

you really raging over a trailer? also the chinese voice acting is terrible.

Im raging over how anet dealed with us, giving us crappy trailer at launch, but giving china this epic thing.

Wow, people will cry over anything.

Firstly, a lot of the things shown in that trailer was added after game launch.

Secondly, really? You’re crying over a trailer? Can you not just watch foreign films and shorts in their language and enjoy it? You really have to demand a dubbing!? If you asked for a translation or subtitles, maybe you wouldn’t sound like such a self-centered whiner, but geeze…

._. I don’t think you quite understand. I’m not raging for giving China good trailer.

I’m raging what we get at the launch >_>

So, is ‘raging’ serving any purpose for something that’s already done? Not like Anet has a time machine to go back and give you a better one. And it’s not like Anet didn’t release a dozen other teasers and videos of the game around that time.

Honestly, the US trailer you linked to is literally the 1st time I’ve ever seen that. I was actually thinking you accidentally linked to the wrong video since it wasn’t even close to the 6+ other teasers I had seen of the game before purchasing.

That one was meh. Though I did want the girl in the red dress.

Habits of a server’s population maybe? Lions Arch is obviously the hub and where many people go to just hang out but I usually see a number of people in Hoelbrak, the Grove, and Black Citadel crafting, banking etc. Not a lot of people but some. Even the occasional map chat. Plus they’re quieter. Possibly on other servers the general population have the idea to congregate more in LA than elsewhere.

I’ve spent more time akitten game today then I’ve spent in Rata Sum since starting the game. Too angular, don’t like it.

I have this problem with Siverpeaks and Maguma. Can’t find them, don’t know what they are. Wiki hasn’t helped me at all.
My shiverpeaks has 2 areas missing and Maguma is missing 1.
I’ve searched the maps over an over and can’t see what i’m missing.
For explorer title. I don’t think JP’s are included coz in some areas i haven’t done the JP’s at all and i got the completions, so don’t know maybe in some maps it’s different.

Griffonrook Run and Forsaken Halls for Shiverpeak maybe? The first is in Lornar’s Pass and the other in Dredgehaunt. Ones a jp and the other a minidungeon.

Done those, but nothing’s changed. I started a new character recently so i’m gonna have anther look as i go through the maps. it’s just frustrating being so close and unable to finish it.

Doh. That would be frustrating. The achievement will probably just pop up as you’re running along a road somewhere. God luck.

I can’t stand pugging because more often than not it turns into a kittenfest of fingerpointing or people just up and leave. I could easily spend a couple of hours working through a dungeon.

Coming from DDO as my last game I find the dungeons here very different (obviously) and beyond wanting to run them to see what they are like artistically I have no burning desire to do them.

I’ve been running through some equipment I want to set as goals for my characters and it looks like a few dungeons are just going to be “grind” content for me.

The issue with nerfing CoF farming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zenleto.6179

zenleto.6179

^Would rather be a total elitist than a Poseur elitist…

What dungeon will be the next AC/CoF once CoF is nerfed? We all know that is what will happen. They will find it and all go there and grind it over and over.

CoE is already farmed and it gives quite a good amount of gold through charged cores/lodestones.

Yeah it is farmed… but that farming was started by True Elitists, not pure Rote-memory / rote-build pseudo Elitists. Most COF1 players will have to evolve beyond their First-Tier Optimal playstyles in order to start farming it.

You’re also ignoring the fact here that Colin told us Lodestones would start dropping from ALL CHAMPIONS. So there goes the biggest reason we farmed COE and pretty much only COE for the charged variety in the first place. (AR dungeon will also be addded to Fractals which will bring that up to 2 possible instances inside Fractals that can also drop/salvage Charged stones …. and then possibly a THIRD route if Kiel pulls out an upset here and the Reactor Disaster becomes the next Fractal after that)

Sure. And then if farming champions becomes profitable we’ll just head over there. Heck we’d probably chain-run Cursed Shore.

Which is actually something that would get me to break off levelling alts and go to Cursed Shore again. If the plan for champs really works out its a win for everybody.

People abusing players who want to complete the event is unacceptable and they should be punished. But punishment for farming this event? That would be ridiculous, it’s not a bug….

Anyway, it will be nerfed tomorrow anyway. Hope they just stop the giant resetting and don’t remove the loot. Wouldn’t be fair for people just completing the event!

Are Ranges really in THAT BAD a place?

in Ranger

Posted by: zenleto.6179

zenleto.6179

Well, this thread has actually made me further discouraged.

I played a warrior today from 1-15, completed the starting zone, and was switching the weapons to see what the warrior version was. When I got to the bow, I honestly thought to myself: “It’ll be exciting to be a ranger and a master of bows. I’d really like to play a class where shooting arrows is the main thing, that could be really fun. Oh, I see I can’t use the one-handed kind? I guess the ranger, master of bows, can”

And now ur saying bow isn’t actually pet, and the pet doesn’t serve as a tank for me?

That kinda eliminates my motivations for playing one . . .

and yeah, ok, maybe we are WoW Wash-outs, but we’re also just trying to find a new home and adjust. We’re just trying to find the right fit, that’s why we ask questions. Ultimately, it’s more players for you, which can only be a good thing for everyone.

Looks like you’ve confused yourself. Just play one and decide for yourself.

I just recently leveled a Guardian from scratch and there was no shortage of people in the low level zones, or any of the zones that I completed while leveling for that matter.

Any time I encounted an event that I could not solo I just called for help on map chat. With out fail multiple people would answer that call and the event was easily compeleted.

I’ve always thought so. There are so many things they could expand on with Living Stories that are touched on through the open world or personal story. They could do two or three at a time with a longer stagger between different ones or differing styles of story. Ones with a bit of fluff like the Bazaar running alongside tougher, grittier stories involving the Nightmare Court for example and opening up large maps. And definitely something involving the evolution of Orr I’d say. I’m excited by what they could do with this.

I’m keeping the excitement levels under control though, just in case

Levelling Alt: When to rotate them?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zenleto.6179

zenleto.6179

Thanks for all of the responses.

I don’t want to get one to max level first because that effectively makes me pick a main, and trying to avoid that as much as possible until I find one that really really stands out for me. Right now, my favourite has been whichever I’m playing at the time.

What I think drove me to the forums was noticing I suddenly could buy traits at level 11. It make me wonder what other milestones might occur, and perhaps I should switch at those points rather than an arbitrary number. For example, I was originally going to switch every 5 levels, but saw I would soon get weapon, so extended it to 10, and then 11 due to traits :L

So knowing there are milestones at 30, 40, and 60, is really great.

Maybe those are the times I should switch – although I sometimes hear level 20 mentioned often, but not sure why. People sometimes say things like “will level to 20 and see if I like it” – any particular reason?

Some classes don’t seem to come into their own until around that level. and for me even higher for elementalist and thief. I have a new appreciation for those classes since I’ve persisted them. I did delete my first two eles though.

You may find the same with other classes, or maybe even none at all.

You’ll probably find that your opinion on 1 and 2 won’t be different this time around if you play again. The haven’t changed anything there.

Point 3 I can’t help you on since I’m also an altaholic and no problems adventuring to level 80 again ( and again and again… )

Points 4 to 7 I doubt you’ll find very different either.

I don’t play against other players much so I won’t comment on the rest.

They have added a fair bit of content over the time you’ve been off but much o it has been temporary. The Living Story content. Some’s been good, some’s been meh (my opinion, of course).

You might just want to give it all a go again to see if your perception o the game is any different. In which case your opinions of 1, 2 and 4 to 7 may be different this time around.

Absolutely right that the dynamic events aren’t dynamic as they could be but I can completely ignore some of it or even enjoy the crazy cyclical nature of them.

Like the Dredgehaunt event with the Vet Potential Mate. I’ll run in and beat him down, and then go save him in the next part so he can go back to the lodge and try and be a better person. I’ll then go do some things in the zone, run back that way, and see that he’s ranting again. I tend to day to myself something along the lines of “there’s that drunk loser causing trouble again”. Sometimes I’ll run the events again an sometimes I won’t. The events don’t really mean anything as far as I can tell but I like them.

I like the immersion. There’s that word again. You’ve got the emotional investment but do you feel “immersed”?

And I started playing in the first week of January so I missed all the November shenanigans. I think I’m glad of that.

I don’t know how I’m able to do it but I just can. It’s not anything I’ve ever analysed. Rewards are fun to aim for but not generally necessary. I don’t car about ascended since I don’t do fractals. I’ll get them when I need them.

I log in and just enjoy the feeling I get when I see my character roster. Running through zones whether there’s people in them or not enhances that. I love the beauty of the game in general, the artwork amazes me. The character I play at any time is the one I’m up to in my levelling program (altaholic here) but its not set in stone, and I do dailies for the xp boost mostly. Got over the feeling I needed to do them when I missed one.

I don’t think this will really help but I thought I’d share. I just really enjoy playing this game.

I doubt it. Nothing’s broken, it’s just jerks not sharing. Probably will be forgotten next month, I hope, and everyone can go back to normal. Though I don’t want to trivialise the problems people are having now with this sort of attitude.

IoJ’s Queensdale is rather friendly.
Sure you have the groups that run through the champs, but also there’s plenty of folks helping out with Spider Champion and the Bandit Skillpoint.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard our folks gripe about a circuit being broke, now grumping about Troll down before they could get to it or missing Behemoth that’s different.

Nah, there’s been some harsh words recently. Not so much about a circuit being interfered with but other Champ event-related things. Usually from the same people though.

I’d forgotten about the monthly Champs. I expect things will quiet down again when its all over.

I’ve dropped into Queensdale twice in the past couple of days to charge some quartz crystals, and I’ve been disappointed by what I’ve seen. A zerg of players have been running a circuit of champions for exp/karma/loot/monthly achievements/whatever. That they’ve turned my favorite zone into an mindless assembly-line grind isn’t what bothers me, it’s how they’re treating other players who don’t know or don’t care to follow their champion-killing routine.

Both times I stopped in I saw members of the zerg shouting down, brow-beating, and being needlessly rude to those who did anything to interrupt their circuit. They’re acting as if they own the zone and anyone who doesn’t follow their rules isn’t welcome. It’s not something I expected from what has generally been a very friendly and helpful community.

Hopefully what I’ve seen has been an anomaly. If not…well, unfortunately there’s not much I can do about it other than voice my displeasure in-game and here on the forums.

I’m sorry but I don’t understand the problem you are having, I frequent Queensdale for dailies and assorted achievements and have run down many of the events you mentioned and have not witnessed any bad treatment between the zergs and other players. What is there to running in killing the champ that disrupts your game-play?

It’s probably more prevalent on darkace’s server than yours but I’ve noticed it on mine as well. The generally friendly, helpful community is slowly turning into a bunch of irritable jerks in places. It’s not a lot of people just some. It may not be happening on your server at all. It’s more obvious in Queensdale but I’ve seen it Wayfarer too. Out of peak NA times generally.

That’s the gripe, as far as I can see. Mob attitude evolution.
