Just totally op'ed class

They already mentioned the game was tuned, very specifically, to be very easy. they stated that directly, pointing out that it was done, so that a new player could handle playing in the test. I think that explains some of your feelings of strength.

So you made a thread to complain about an intentional testing decision that they made a previous announcement about.

Shouldn’t this be merged with the other Sodapoppin advertisements in the Community Creations Forum? Or better yet, deleted entirely?

WouldGW2 be more successful with HolyTrinity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: NoTrigger.8396

We have a soft trinity, and that is enough. We don’t need a dedicated trinity. Instead of tank, DD, and healer, we have damage mitigation, DPS, and boon support.

No we don’t have soft trinity, we have all zerker.

it would be cool if you would stop telling other people “thats bs” “all zerk” “other builds not viable” when your game knowledge and understanding is abysmal?

watch it and learn.

Duelling already exists as either PvP via Custom arenas (and the custom arena being set to 1v1) or via the cute little feature of Costume brawl. There’s been no announcement of any other form

If this argument is about Dungeon runs, isn’t there a forum for that topic?

I have yet to see anyone in other areas of the game being chastised for not being “zerker meta” so this does appear to be a Dungeon run issue or am I mistaken?

I dont know about the rest of you. But a game which creates diversity through traits, weapons and utilities sounds better than a game which creates diversity in just gear stats.

Hmmm, I could play a game where I only tank, heal or do damage. Or, I could play a game in which I provide support, heal myself and others, do big damage, and use control. I know which sounds more boring to me. It’s a pity that people have their heads stuck in the gear = build, must-be-dedicated-to-be-a-role hole. It’s pretty dark in there.

People secretly want Defense gear to reward as much as Damage gear.

The solution of having all conditions applied over the cap hit as direct damage would not be affected by the so called condition cap.

Well then you obviously dont understand what people are saying. We are not argueing against improvements to complexity. We are argueing against the need for alternative gear stats to become optimal. Because doing that creates barriers for entry. It doesnt make sense to ask for that. Making us change traits, utilities and weapons and encouraging (not forcing) us to use defensive stats is fine. A forced approach is a bad idea and it goes against anets philosophies. I really dont understand why people dont understand this.

Also if people really want other gear stats to be optimal. Instead of just spewing reason. Why dont they give examples of how it can be done without causing forced gear changes and making it impossible for some compositions to work? Im sure anet would love to hear them. I would to. Because i certainly cant think of anything that would satisfy both sides.

He’ll only cover it until it’s released and then maybe up to a month worth of the launch hype and then fade away until the next expansion.

Although, you can’t blame him since he’s more of a news channel than a gameplay channel.

Vanilla GW2 is Dead when HoT releases:

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Halvorn.9831

The thread title calls Vanilla GW2 “dead”.

It will not receive major content updates or world changes.

That’s a strange definition of dead. Dead would mean closed down, no longer available, ceased, pushing up the daisies, it’d be an ex-game (nudge nudge, wink wink).

Instead it is still available, only not evolving anymore. You can still do all content that is there today. Not exactly dead, to be honest. You can still drive your Ferrari 1.0 on the roads that have been there all the time. Only the new racetrack is reserved for Ferrari 2.0.

I don’t see a problem here. Either the xpac is worth your money in your consideration or not. If not, you lose nothing that you now have.

This has already been discussed and established in multiple places:

The problem is that condition stacks use inefficient netcode and so they are hard limited at 25 to prevent performance issues / lag

It has nothing to do with PvP balancing.

And.. we are back to people thinking berserker gear means you are not playing a support role.

Support/dps/control roles can be done (almost*) equally well in berserkers as they can in clerics, soldiers, sinisters or nomads.

*healing power can improve support slightly. But then you are by and large responsible for your own healing, making this a largely selfish stat (completely contrary to support) anyways.

Evidently there is a lack of understanding how support roles are played, and how integral they already are to completing content in all berserkers gear.

There is a reason many teams take a hammer guardian in high level fractals.
Or a mace/focus for mossman. <— I personally run this for cof p3 final boss too.
Or a reflect mesmer in ta:ae.

bosses that also have trash mobs attacking you?
Spider queen in AC has that.
Kholer has that.
Aldus stormbringer (hotw p1) has that.

Bosses with CC?
Vinewraith thrasher seems to have a 20 second stun periodically.
Impasse Mark IV (SE p1) spams interrupts with one of its skills.

Hard hitting AoE?
Subject alpha has some pretty nasty aoes.

The things being asked for are already in the game. Would I like more level 80 zones including these mechanics? Yes. EXP mode dungeons should be level 80 anyway, but that would make dungeons officially “endgame content” which many people (including anet it seems) wish to avoid.

Support is already integral.
Would I like it buffed? Sure! It’d make everything even easier. But people are here asking for things to be harder. This thread has become self contradictory. Through sheer ignorance by the looks of things.

I’d say everything is working as intended. Farming that area is already rewarding enough by giving you gold in form of crafting materials and rares (or ectos if you salvage them). Ascended chests should have a much higher chance of dropping in more challenging content (like fractals lvl 50).

WAI != sensible

Doesn’t have any necessary correlation to something being any fun at all either. As it presently stands, drop rates on a lot of things are mathematical comedies, with the only time-effective recourse for anything that can be bought being to buy it off the tp.

Let’s just ignore elephant in the room to do with how profitable it is for Anet to make gold hard to farm in the quantities anything truly desirable goes for, because some here will sorrowfully declare such to beer Isidro’s that Anet works so anything to foster gem to gold conversion and make money hand over dust selling nothing but transient ones and zeroes for real currency – let’s just set that entire explanation for why Anet loves to foster an environment in which farming is pointless aside, despite the fact that it explains everything quite entirely and we’d need look no further at all to understand very plausible reasons for every single thing Anet had ever done to farming in this game at all.

My common symptom of that businesses are it to make money and will very typically make choices that they expect will grow their profits is rarely a popular one amongst gaming community members that deliriously believe that these companies are their friends or have some sort of higher purpose and nobler calling than ‘people in any other business’

Let’s set that aside and look at what’s left for particle explanations, because I can’t think of any that aren’t more stretched than their need to be or more payphone if facts we do not have.

We know for a fact that Anet is a business.

We know for a fact that they are for profit and not done sort of charity.

We know for a fact that they sell gems that can immediately thence be spent on many things, but can also be converted into gold.

With these three facts alone, without requiring even the safest of assumptions, one would have a very sound basis to presume that Anet would be wanting to make a fiscal profit off selling gems.

One would be utterly faultless in talking these facts and assuming that if these facts are indeed factual, several other things are likely to logically follow, such as that Anet will this have strong incentive to maker or way and very effective to works real money on gems and acquire more gold for the equivalent of one hour’s worth of minimum wage pay than they could ever earn by farming anything in the game for that same equivalent hour.

The value simply isn’t there for farming. And I laugh with mocking pity at those that think it’s free to farm tour gold even if it’s a lot slower than any other method of acquisition, including even mediocre skill at dedicated flipping and marketeering.

For over hour’s worth of my salaried time, which is roughly $17.50/hour, 24/7/365, I could buy as of the time of this posting one $15 gem card for most of an hour’s worth of my employed time. That’s 1200 gems.

To buy 1200 gems with gold at this moment, I would have to spend 187g 20s.

To convert those 1200 gems to gold, I would make almost an even 120g.

There is nothing you, I or anyone can do to make anything resembling a consistent 120g an hour. Not even the most successful tp flipping a single person could get up to will yield profits that substantive.

Farming? You’re never going to make 120g a hour farming anything. You will, very typically, spend many hours to earn a fraction of that much gold. If you can reliably make 3-6g per hour if farming anything, you’re doing OK.

Anet has powerful incentive to make farming minimally lucrative. Compared to covering gems to gold, is absolutely trivial when eating the value of farming in game versus the buying power of a single hour’s worth of minimum wage real money expenditure.

And for those of us making far more than minimum wage, with way more likelihood of having $15 to spare than 15 hours spent numbingly farming?

It’s all economics. And Anet has no incentive at all to make farming even remotely competitive with the value coefficient of gem to gold conversion.

One is only the smartest person in the room if they are alone.
