I’ve had university exams for this entire event, and my last one finished at 9pm last night. I figured I could rush my way through all of the content today, get all the achievements and stuff.. But now i’ve finished all of the achievements except for “It’s A Mad Kings World” and it seems I can’t finish that anymore because I can’t access the dungeon..

Is there really no way to access the dungeon anymore?

Nope, it’s gone. In fact the entire halloween event was supposed to end hours ago.

Alright, thanks for the info. Will it be the same event next year? The same achievements? I really hate the idea that i’ll never ever be able to finish them off.

The achievements will no longer be completeable after Halloween is turned off. This is similar to the monthly or daily achievements which also cannot be completed after a certain amount of time. I’m not 100% sure on this, but I believe the plan is to replace the achievements in the special event category with a new set of special event achievements whenever the next special event begins. You’ll keep the points and any titles forever, but I don’t think we would leave you with a bunch of achievements that you (or new players) will never be able to complete.

What aspects of Halloween do you guys plan on keeping? For example is the Mad King always going to come busting out of the statue, allowing those who missed it this year the chance to earn the achievement for entering the dungeon?

Could you at least ‘archive’ them in a separate category like “Past events”, and show there only those you completed?
I don’t want to lose them from my list.

It would be really cool to see a system for ‘archived’ achievements where it shows limited-time achievements that you completed, but it doesn’t show achievements that you don’t have. It would be a way to remember the achievements that don’t have a title tied to them without leaving those without the achievements feeling overly left out.

Achievement archive, yes. Would be nice to have the actual events still viewable, I dont’ just want the points / titles, I want to see the achievements as well.

Could still remove (or not include) any incomplete achievements so as to not provide players with a bunch of stuff they can never do, but leave the completed ones in an archive section so those who did finish them can look back on them fondly.

Hey i was just zoning back int lions arch to turn in my book when it logged me out and patched. No reward for me. I was actually out getting married this weekend. Wish they would allow you to turn in the stuff you did have.

Odds are the folks most affected by Hurricane Sandy have many more pressing things on their minds than the Halloween event. =)

Quite frankly I was getting fed up with this kitten Halloween.
Too much ado about some pagan/occult new years “celebration”.

for the future, could you guys consider putting the “Special Events” category at the top of the Acheivements list, instead of the very bottom? Would be a little easier to go check on what we’ve done.

Would very much like to see a sort of archived section for Seasonal Achievements. Halloween 2012 as a sort of sub-category in example. To prevent having a list of achievements you can never complete (if you couldn’t do them in time), they could of course not list the non-completed ones.

Yeah I was busy working… at the hospital I work at, and today was the start of my weekend, sorry if I’m a little erked that I was forced to miss the event.

Will they be back next Halloween?

Anet mistakenly banned my account for 10 days and didn’t give it back untill Halloween morning. ArenaNet’s mistake effectively kept me out of the event. I was still able to complete the jumping puzzle and a couple other minor things but the achievements were not possible. And I missed most of the events and the dungeon.

Missing out on those things is not the end of the world, but it would be cool if they came back again next year. A lot of people could not participate for any number of reasons (Sandy comes to mind) who would like a chance at it again next Halloween.

Also, the idea of archiving special event achievements (but not listing those not completed) is brilliant. I hope this is something that Anet will seriously consider.

Yeah for example the clock tower achievement. I spent 5 hours completing that just because I wanted to get the achievement (even though it had no effect on the overall Mad King achievement/title), its just a cool thing to know I have and I would be sad if it just got suddenly replaced. What would have been the point of having an achievement for that jumping puzzle, especially since it didnt come with a title, otherwise?

Nice move Anet, at least it is something considering the terrible circumstances to the east coast at the moment. A solid compromise in my opinion. Sadly, for those who will still be unable to take advantage the show must go on…

While this doesn’t effect me (who’s reasons for not being able to get some achievements were simply personal obligations), it’s nice to see Anet give out some sort of token to those who were effected by Sandy

Other than this, I assume next year these activities will be back (can’t imagine this work just being garbaged now :P). So perhaps then people can complete it.

Request: could Anet make a list of all the “deleted achievements” for us to see, basically so we can look back and see all the things we’ve done? At least the big ones (say clocktower an emissary on this one). Might be nice for sentiment. I understand taking it out of the achievements section, but maybe a “player history” section might be nice?

I’m adding my vote for an “Achievement Archive” so we can look fondly back on these days in the future, on screen

I second the creation some sort of legacy section in the achievements to list things you managed that are not in game anymore or disabled seasonally.

And to anyone who thinks its wrong to not get the halloween achievements because of schedule, keep in mind that nobody gets everything in life and its only a game so dotn sweat it. Turn off the OCD if you can =)

Just wondering if you people at Anet are considering bringing the titles back for next year’s Halloween? I didn’t get a chance to complete my Master Carver title or Emissary of the Mad King due to a power outage.

I’m thankful that you added the NPC, so I could get the hat, but just wondering about the titles. Are the gone forever, or will they be available again next year?
