Asura Size, Please NERF US
This would not be a ‘bug’, rather a suggestion.
No to changing the size of Asura.
You can make your Asura look bigger by maxing out the height slider bar .. he/she will reach the chest level of the shortest Sylvari or Human.
Anything more and it will look silly when the biggest Asura is the same height as the shortest bookah.
Are you ESL or something? I had to read through your post quite a few times to understand what it was you were trying to say.
Obviously it doesn’t matter in PvE or even in WvW, if you ask me, but I realize that in PvP, people tend to roll min-size asura specifically because their attacks are harder to telegraph and they’re harder to see.
The solution is really easy though, and that is that the sizes of characters should be normalized somewhat. If you played Super Adventure Box with members of other races, you probably noticed that your asura was a lot, lot larger than they normally were. The character models are all normalized in SAB in order to make the platforming/jumping a bit more predictable (asura are larger, norn and charr are smaller, humans and sylvari are about the same as always). See picture for example.
So, they’ve shown that it’s possible.
I think it’s a very good idea if they used a similar scaling system in PvP as to what they used in SAB.
The weapons changing size when stowed / wielded is to keep the weapons from clipping into the ground with larger weapons (even though some weapons still clip the ground anyway). And it happens on all races, not just Asura.
A-net has said they they don’t feel that asura size is a significant factor in pvp.
Leave my Asura alone thank you.
I like the size of my Asura just fine. also if you don’t like pvp what do you care?

No. I like my smallest size asura, thank you.

Q: Many people that played PvP, including BOON Control members, said that asura characters have a slight advantage due to their small size and therefore reduced visibility compared to other races. Do you believe this is a problem? What about putting all asura player-characters in golems during PvP matches?
Eric: We don’t feel that this advantage is significant once people become more familiar with the game.

And thank god for that.

The kill/death ratio of an asura compared to the kill/death ratio of human, charr, norn, and sylvari in pvp would easily prove that advantages of asura, and disadvantages of charr and norn.
Don’t just wave it off saying that it will be fine if people l2p. That’s exactly what people say when defending horribly obvious imbalance.
However, that article is extremely old, so it doesn’t tell anything at all about what their current stance on the issue could possibly be.
Do you have the kill/death ratios? For all we know they may prove that the size of the asura is somehow a disadvantage.

Nope, I just have wishful "what if " thinking.
yeah, in order for us to really know how much of a (dis)advantage the size is, we’d have to watch extensive battles with the same people using the same class and builds with different races of differing size in a controlled environment. And then take the kill/death ratios from there.
A-net may well have done this. If they are telling people to l2p, it could actually be a l2p issue. If they say the diffrences are negligible, they are probably negligible.

They said they don’t feel that it is a problem. The keyword is feel.
Much more importantly, that was an extremely old article. Before the game was released. What was said about what they ‘feel’ about balance between races at a time so far ago has no weight at all.
I wouldn’t believe just whatever I was told, especially when the advantage is so blatantly obvious.

They may well base those feeling off of the data they can see. Really, the only counter to what a-net said is how some players may “feel” in an environment that they have no controle over. So if a-nets feeling mean nothing then players feeling on this matter can only mean so much less than nothing. Not sure how you can compare their feeings on their own data to your own admitted wishful thinking.
edit: As far as how blatantly obvious that advantage may be, the interviewer even acknowledges how “slight” that advantage is. So the question acknowlges that it is slight and a-et agrees that it isn’t significant.

Well whatever the case, asura keep their size. period.

Yeah our size is fine. As far as the selfless potion goes I agree, but Anet seems to not want to do anything about it. They refuse to respond on the forums about it and in my customer service response they pretty much did the same. Still keeping my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath:/
I don’t want than is modified Size Asuras. they are like that.
I play the shortest possible Asura warrior and love love love my size. Plus armor that look meh to so-so on other races look good on me.
A bigger Asura just defeats the purpose of playing an Asura.
My tip to you is try using a “chubbier” build. They’re too cute and making them taller would look odd.
Condi & DPS Ranger, Spirit Guard
I agree. Asura are too tall and need to have their sizes nerfed so that they’re all 25% shorter.
A-net has said they they don’t feel that asura size is a significant factor in pvp.
I’d like to see them say that with a serious face after watching some of the videos they push as a part of their “make gw2 a e-sport” plan.
If there was a choice to swap races into other ones, I’m sure most players would only be up against norns. Anet is just face first in lala land.

Competitors that would be heavy in e-sport would look for any advantage no matter how small. The only way to know how big an advantage it really is is to have those same players play the same class with the same builds on different races.
Otherwise small pros smashing on large noobs is always going to look one sided.
NooOoo don’t nerd asura :< you make asura sad.
Asura is a ball of cuteness, its one of its defences – BEING CUTE!
And .. it makes it race unique.. I love asura .. then comes the quaggans.. oh gosh the quaggans don’t get me started! FooOo!
I think the unique animations are more to blame than the size of the Asura. If I recall correctly, most of the tells between the other races are exactly the same.

That’s because once people become more familiar with the game, they roll min sized asura.
I did it as a GS warrior, coming from a max sized norn, and my movement control greatly improved. And I can land more hits. And I have more battle awareness.
because he doesn’t know it himself

Yes. That must have been what they meant.
