Asura and ecology
I think it depends on the Krewe, really. As for their buildings being slowly reclaimed by the jungle, well, it’s probably more a matter of “it’s not harming anything, it’s not practical to waste time doing anything about it. Yet.” than anything else.
i thought Zojja was a golemancer, a sort of magic casting pet class that only has the one single pet, which is something players can’t be
anyways, i think the asura’s technology are about as eco-friendly as our modern day tech, just because there’s alot of green growth and jungle in the asura areas doesn’t mean that it’s perfectly healthy to stand under some of their seemingly radioactive equipment

Asura are just as varied in their politics as the other races. The Infinity ball personal quest line will involve a krewe of Asura protesting a particle accelerator saying if they turn it on it will destroy “Mother Tyria”. So keep on playing that Ranger you tree hugging magic worshipper. (And plus Magic is all things. It can change shape and be shaped. Tyria and the trees, rocks, etc, are just variations on physical properties of Magic.)
Rangers use a form of nature magic. I’d also argue that because their technology stems from Magic use, it would be more eco-friendly than say, Charr technology, which uses raw materials and lots of burning/fumes. Also due to their technology being originally developed underground (~200 years ago) it would have to work without releasing much waste as it will have no where to go and would slowly suffocate the Asura.
Zoijja appears to be an Elementalist. A Golemancer is more of a title for particular engineering successes relating to golem creation/control and can be held by any Asura no matter the “profession”, as all Asura are tinkerers of some sort.

Well as far as blowing up a chaos-reactor and turning everything into an inferno or infusing raptor-eggs with growing hormons can be seen as eco-friendly, Asura are a very ecological-thinking race.
It is mostly up to the krewe, but the general Asura mindset is ‘Knowledge triumphs sacrifice… up to a point.’ That point depends on the beliefs of the individual; on one end, you have some that believed that fiddling with the oozes were unethical (I believe there was a few…) all the way to the far end where the Inquest will cheerfully decimate any other race as long as they can get away with it.
Most tend to occupy some pragmatic middle-ground, like the protesters in the Infinity Ball chain… where I thought it was an amusing veil that they were masking concern over having themselves killed by a singularity or whatnot in the guise of environmentalist worries.

I would say no. The eternal alchemy is such a vague concept, that literally EVERYTHING has a place in it. So damaging nature has it’s place in the eternal alchemy too.
In fact I would say you can’t damage the eternal alchemy at all. You can change some parameters but the eternal alchemy itself as some kind of a meta-concept remains untouched.

just replace “eternal alchemy” with “Buddhism” and it all makes sense.

Whilst Asuran technology is seemingly eco-friendly (their magical power sources don’t appear to produce any waste products) the Asura themselves are not: they do dangerous experiments on wildlife all the time as we see in a number of dynamic events.
A ranger does make sense for an Asura though if you think of it more as focussing your research on wildlife and such. There are a few labs about that are dedicated to wildlife research. Rangers use nature magic as well anyway which they’d certainly invest some study in.
Just like there are scientists today working on eco-friendly cars, solar power and bio-engineering, so too can an Asura krewe work in a ‘different’ way.
Let me break it down for you in an incredibly simplified manner. I might miss things.
Environmental Threats by Asura:
-Accidents: These tend to happen when an Experiment goes horribly wrong. A good example would be the reactor explosion in Thaumanova and how it charred the environment around it and is constantly producing creatures from other environments that could seriously damage it if not dealt with. Asura will tend to try to fix these errors as soon as possible rather than sweeping them under the rug.
-Experimentation upon the Environment:
You see the Inquest doing this a lot. This ranges from directly manipulating the environment to suit their needs or use as a tool, to occasionally trying to get something out of it for slightly more… progressive… reasons, but with flawed methodology. A good example would be the small Krewe in Mt. Mael that is basically commiting small-scale genocide on the nearby wind riders to acquire their essence to use in golem power-cell manufacturing, and the lone Asura in Metrica that is stealing raptor eggs to use in his experiments. You know, the one who gives you no reward. The one I attempted to strangle.
Environmental Boons by Asura:
-Apathy:
The Asura will let the environment flourish around them so long as it doesn’t directly endanger their goals or paths to acquiring components for said goals.
-Conscience:
A common-ish trait of Asura, they tend to feel some sort of empathy towards others and their surroundings. The Asura do not commit genocide upon the skritt because they steal from them and pose a threat. (Though the Inquest try to control them and Anet seriously considered the genocidal option)
Not being Charr:
Speaks for itself. Just look at the Charr lands, their methods and what their crude, inferior cat-moose technology does to them. ( Jokin’ )
Sorry if I left anything out or made no sense, short on time, and had to stop halfway through. Decided to try to post and contribute anyway.
Does an Asuran mesmer make sense? How about a Guardian, with their religious overtones? And really, engineers tend to use more Charr-y technology, not the awesome high tech of the Asura. One of the coolest things about GW2 is that Anet didn’t decide for you what races stereotypically enter which professions. You can rationalize why your asura became a ranger, and make it as awesome as you want. My engi is a norn. Why? cause I love the idea of the crazy guy with the strange workshop (workshop not included) amongst all the nature worshipers. Go apekitten. He could be pursuing nature magic as a facet of the eternal alchemy, or as rebellion against asuran norms.
No sympathy for the Devil, keep that in mind.

Asura rely heavily on magical technology as tools. A “guardian” asura could easily be a specialist in kinetic barriers.
Mesmer is absolutely an asuran thing; it’s the very embodiment of the college of synergetics, Snaff was a mesmer
Only engineer looks a bit “odd” because as you say they rely on mechanical technologies and accelerant based munitions, when Asura have magic powered lasers and robots.

But that’s exactly my point. You can spin it however you want. As I was just reminded in the lore thread, magic really has little lore behind it in this world. ANet seem happy to leave it at “it’s magic!” Roll how you wanna roll.
Side Note: I didn’t read the books, and my asura is only up to level 24, so I haven’t quite devoured their personal story. Plus, I use most of my energy converting Zojja back into Felicia Day in my mind. Those creepy little piranha teeth just don’t do it for her.
Side Side Note: I did post a thread about “Magic Ammo” over on the lore thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lore/Some-thoughts-on-magic-in-Tyria/first#post540851

They seemed worryed about the Elder Dragons eating magic. So they seem to care about not running out off energy. At least the asura’s tech runs on magic not by burning up the planet like ours.

I suspect they’re more concerned about running out of magic energy, much as people are concerned about running out of oil…
