No, really, bear with me here.

It’s something that hit me today while I was exploring Rata Sum. Several of the asura really reminded me of norns. Not the norns you all know and love (or tolerate anyway, big loud bookahs that they are) but the norns from a somewhat obscure 90’s video game series called Creatures.

Seriously, put some clothes on these guys and you’ve got yourself some Asura:

It’s mainly the big ears, big eyes and relatively minimal hair that makes me think they’re similar. And for the record I’m not suggesting Anet stole or copied the design, I just find it amusing that two such different games ended up with fairly similar character designs when it’s not exactly a typical design.

Honestly, big ears and big eyes on somewhat small creature is ver very very far from unique.

I like to see them rather as familiar to Rygel XVI from Farscape. He may look less similar but he definitely shares their arrogance.

I’m about to bust your case wide open my friend. Irrefutable proof that Norns and Asura are indeed the same!

True, if you look at the ears there are some similarities.

Nice find. It seems like someone on the GW2 team has played Creatures 3… O.o

The Asura also resemble the Guardians from the green lantern series. Both are highly intelligent,small and mobile little beings.

Not sure about looks, but they sound to me like Stewie Griffin.
