Hey All,

Just rolled an Asura and his ears stick up when he fires his pistol. See pic. Once he puts the pistol down/goes out of combat they go down.

Is this normal?

Uhuh, yeah. Standing completely up like that is indicative of alertness/attention.

Their ears are pretty expressive, particularly during emotes. The longer/bigger they are, the more noticeable it is, which may be why you haven’t noticed it before. During /cry, for instance, they droop completely and curl inward.

I had tried to make long ear Asura once, big mistake, during combat, it stood up like a bull.

Completely out of character and awkward.

If you want to see how much attention the ears get, /dance makes the ears follow the dancing motions. ArenaNet put a lot of effort into the Asura animations and ears

I have an asura with big floppy Yoda ears. They are the favorite part of my asura, especially when he emotes (I love the cower animation)

Unlike human ears, they’re fully mobile like cat or dog ears :p (One of their idle animations they sniff the air too between that and their big eyes lead to me to suspect their senses are wayyyy more acute than bookah’s)

I love that. When my Necro is in combat her ears stand up like little devils-horns and I think it really, really fits. In her spectral form she actually looks like a little devil which is amazing in my opinion.

Yep. Remember the asura in EotN who was developing some sort of air freshening device? He said asuras have really sensitive noses.

It depends a bit on your weapon. Greatsword and Hammer for example lift your ears, but not as much as other weapons do. :P Also, if you have bigger ears it will be more noticable.

However, I believe all one handed weapons put your ears up fully. Rifles lift them a lot also, I don’t know about the bows though.

Yes it’s totally normally and is my favorite thing about my asura. I just redid the looks on my toon and made his ears even bigger. All he needs now is a black feather in his nose and he can fly.

They are a sign of intelligence and being perceptive of the world around us. Ears are smexy!
