Some might have said the Inquest have gone too far when they destroyed the archives of past projects in order to hide their industrial espionage…

Some might have said the Inquest have gone too far when they moved the souls of mortal sentients into golems…

Some might have said the Inquest have gone too far when they attempted to create their own Risen entities…

But at the very least, all of this seemed to be Inquest internals.

Now they are giving the bookahs flying machines, hidden mountains, and alternative lightning technologies!

Some of the prior exploits seems to be pushing the limits of the Eternal Alchemy and (possibly) poor judgement, but spreading the technology without council approval seems like it’s a step too far to me.

On a personal note, anyone else really find they single out Inquest targets more than others in mixed groups, just from a racial point of view? :-)

I assume this has something to do with the sky pirates thing?

Which in that case, it doesn’t really seem to fit with lore that the Inquest would help or involve other races with plans of world dominance.

Yes. I’ll have to dig around to see if I can find a developer source on it, but it seemed to me like they’d said the Aetherblade pirate technology was Inquest sourced somewhere along the line.

The term “Inquest” is little more than a glorified label for a bunch of dimwits incapable of original aerial travel solutions and basic energy manipulation. Instead they use stolen designs, or as in the case of those new lightning devices of theirs, shockingly bad ones.

Then again, the council isn’t any better. Everyone knows bookahs are there solely for the purpose of doing our heavy lifting, so if equipping one with antri gravity rays suits me that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Building golems and summoning minions takes time, sending a bookah does not. As an added bonus, there is no risk of losing valuable components.

It is our intellect that makes us superior, not some fancy toys inquest is tossing out for the lesser races. Still, minions do need feeding, so maybe I’ll pay our red-wearing friends a visit after all.

This page says it’s an alliance between the pirates and the Inquest:

I still do not see why the Inquest would want or need assistance from other races.

It even contradicts GW2’s original over-reaching story of the good guys cooperating and putting differences aside to work together, and the bad guys being opposed to such collaboration.

The Aetherblades you encounter as part of the early Dragon Bash story also have Inquest golems with them, as identified by the red markings as opposed to the traditional blue.

I don’t see how it contradicts the overall story of the game though, certainly not any more than an alliance between dredge and Sons of Svanir. Also, I reckon it’s too early saying that the Inquest are behind / allied with / in need of / assisted by the Aetherblades. For all we know, it may be a simple case of purchasing technology from the one organization with the goods and willing to sell to them.

[Looks up from Research Weekly and a pile of scribbles and incomplete notes]

They’re giving them… But they don’t know how to… They’re incompetent and…

The other crimes were tolerable. This is not. Kill them. Kill them all and break their technology and golems and give their labs to charity organizations and don’t attend their birthday parties and kill them again with the help of a necromancer.

I’m pretty bored of inquest just being used as a plot device, the whole idea of them is legitimately interesting and Anet just goes “hurrr bad guys”.

Keep in mind this also happened with the Flame Legion and Dredge

Who was behind it? Our nemesis

Right as you enter the fight with Trin, she says someone named Scarlet will have her head for this and that either way she dies. Since the living story so far has been building up to our nemesis, we can assume Scarlet is her name or at least someone very high up in her chain of command. More then likely, this is a result of the Pact’s victory over Zhaitan.
